Very impressed for my first transaction here. Altered two pairs of work pants (wool slacks) and two pairs of jeans to have hemmed that I took in on Thursday and asked that my work pants be completed before Monday (which meant Saturday due to their business days/hours). Star #1: Their first star was for the initial greeting and service provided. I love when businesses (especially smaller storefronts) greet their customers and don't have them wait standing around for service and I was greeted with smiles and friendly chat. I had my 3-month old in tow, stroller and all and the business owners helped to make the experience smooth and get my pants measured quickly which is always appreciated. Star #2: Cleanliness and organization. Nice new shopping center, things were organized and well-kept within the store. Something you like to see from a cleaners/alterations place that gives you that warm-fuzzy that they have it together. Star #3: Having good/average pricing on par with or better than other comparable places. I haven't used their cleaning services so I can't yet comment on the pricing but will update in a later review. Star #4: After returning to pickup my pants on Saturday came the true test: quality. Getting home and trying on all the pants, both legs are even and the pants are expertly hemmed. The stitching its tight, no loose or excess material, and the length is perfect despite me forgetting to bring in the shoes I would typically wear with each. Star #5: Customer service above and beyond. Value Cleaners not only completed my work pants, but also my jeans on Saturday. On top of that, they also pressed and "creased" my work pants that had been neglected which was a bonus! First of all, I used to be really confused when I'd drive by this place because there are two cleaners right next door to each other. I used to think that'd be terrible for business. So let me clear it up for everyone - Value Cleaners cleans CLOTHES and Critter Cleaners cleans DOGS. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I was going to go take my girlfriend out to a fancy dinner...and that included the fancy suit with the button up shirt and the tie and the whole shabang. Now I'm a college student. A pretty poor one at that. So normally, I just throw my tshirts and jeans in the washer. But I realized since this was a pretty special occasion, I'd need to look pretty good. The problem was that when I tried on my suit for the first time since high school, I realized I had grown a bit taller and my socks were showing when I walked around with my pants. Now knowing that Value Cleaners cleans clothes and that (hopefully) that cleaning is done at a value, I decided to try them out for my first dry cleaning experience. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice and understanding of how important this suit was. She told me that if I wasn't in a rush, they could be even more attentive and do an even better job. My date wasn't for another week so I let them let out my pants to as long as they could go and dry clean the suit. When I came back a week later, the suit was perfect. I tried it on right there and the pants were the perfect length and there wasn't a wrinkle or a stain in sight. We had been a loyal customer since we moved to Scripps Ranch in 2017. Service was always prompt and courteous until they damaged shirt a brand new shirt. They asked for more time to fix the shirt and even though we knew if was not fixable (collar had been over pressed with heat or chemicals), we agreed. That was back in July. After countless requests for resolution and still no reply from the store, we've given up. Took my dress in October 26 got told I would be done in two weeks, came back November 6 as was told too and my dress wasn't even started on. Never given a quote until Nov 6th even though I asked for a quote before I left it. Picked up November 8th, and was told more than quoted the first time, the lady that works there is rude and continued to argue with me when she had done work that was not asked for. To me this is the most unorganized and unprofessional alterations place I've ever been to and over priced as well. Brought in a somewhat expensive new blackout curtain to have shortened. We gave them the measurement for how long it needed to be (8 feet). We picked it up a week later and put it up to find that it was shorter than 7 feet. We went back in and they measured 60 inches (full length of their measuring tape) and said it was 6 feet , then started measuring from that point the rest of the length. We pointed out that 60 inches is 5 feet. They then admitted to making that mistake when altering it. They still had the fabric they cut off so they said they would just sew some back on. Now we have a seam on the bottom of our curtains and when the sun shines through in the morning you can see the dark stripe of that seam. Didn't offer replacement or refund. read more

I have since had them to my dry cleaning and alterations on numerous pieces of clothing. I forget her name but she's the wife of the owner and she IS FABULOUS. I went in there on two occasions and needed some alterations done for clothing for a trip coming up in a few days, she was quick to get them finished but the quality was amazing. She will make sure she gets the alterations how I want. I had to have her refit a dress a couple times to get it right and i was thinking "oh my god this is going to be so expensive" but it wasn't! If you look closely, most, if not all of the reviews date back to '15-'16! In the last 15, months either they changed owners or went downhill or they pay a 3rd party for positive reviews. Will never go back again. They messed up the hem the 1st time, then the 2nd time even worse. The women working there when I dropped off was rude and unapologetic, when I picked up, I dealt with the gentlemen there who told me he wasn't a mind reader and asked me how would I know how I would like my pants hemmed. Using my daughter account to write this review as I do not have an account and never do reviews but felt the need to do it after my last experience at this place to make other customers aware. A friend of mine recommended Value Cleaners & Alterations years ago and I have been a loyal customer ever since when I have clothes that need to be altered generally around summer time. The quality of the work is great. Both my daughter and I are petite. My daughter had her prom dress altered three years ago and it was beautifully done. They like you to pay cash which is not an issue, there has been times when clothes were not ready by the due date which I always was understanding with as they are generally busy. Due to COVID they are currently only opened on Friday which is fine. Two weeks ago I had a vacation day and stopped by with 6 items, 4 casual dresses, one cocktail dress and one top that needed to be altered. I tried them on and the owner put pins where the changes were needed. She said business had been slow because of COVID and I told her I was always glad to bring her business. She said all items would be ready by the following Friday. I asked for an estimate but did not get an answer which was fine, as I said glad to bring business during this difficult times to merchants. This past Friday I took a break from work to pick up my items. When I came in she said she was running late and they were not ready. Ok, that happens. She said to come back within the hour at 2pm. I asked until when she was opened to give her more time as she seemed busy. She said "I am opened until 4-4:30pm". I committed to come back at 4pm. As my husband was in the area around 4pm he said he would go and pick up my clothes for me. When he arrived at 4:10 pm the door was closed but the owner was getting into her car and opened to give him the items and charged $120 US for the 6 items. Considered I had 6 of them, I am not complaining about the price. Today I tried the dresses on and was unhappily surprised to notice that the hem on two on the casual dresses was not done. Ok I could take them back then tried the cocktail dress as we I wanted to wear it for something planned and felt a sting in my arm.....the pin she had put to mark the alteration of the sleeve was still there and the dress has been worked on partially ! I would have understood if she had said " sorry I ran out of time come back next week for these" but charging full price without a word and having customer come back twice and give unfinished items is clearly not acceptable. This shows lack of honesty and respect to customers who are bringing their business. I can no longer recommend this place and will search for a more reliable alterations services even if it is further away. read more

I came here twice, the first time to have my daughters prom dress stitched and the next with a last minute alterations done on a blazer that I needed the same day. Both times the quality of the work was excellent and the owners were very professional and courteous. They stayed late getting the blazer done for me. I highly recommend this alterations place.
