As far as grocery stores in our area go, Valli is one of the best. Over the years, we've seen them expand their selection. They have one of the best selections of ethnic foods in the area so finding something special is usually easy to do there. Their produce can't be beaten. They have a huge selection of all different types of produce - fruits and vegetables, many I've never tried before but will eventually. They also have an amazing deli counter with probably the best pricing around. With good pricing, their cold cuts turn over quickly so you know you are always getting something fresh. While they used to be the least expensive store for just about everything, we've also seen their prices climb over the years. But compared to the large grocers in the area like Jewel, they are much less expensive. Shopping at Valli can be fun - you'll see things you've never seen before. Lots of people shop there so also be prepared for lines at their checkout counters. But, it's all worth it. read more

A reasonable choice if you're looking for a wide variety of groceries with more of an international flair. Valli is similar to other stores like Garden Fresh, Fresh Farms, Caputo's, etc. in the area that carry a larger than average selection of European, Mexican, and Asian items -- where the prices are mostly competitive for the international items, but items like milk and American brands may cost more than elsewhere like Jewel. Like similar stores, it's necessary to be careful of expiration dates as these can vary widely on product. Sales stickers are sometimes indicative of which items are close to expiration, but this isn't always a reliable way to tell. I also see a wider than normal variation of prices between items, which I don't like compared to everyday low pricing overall. This makes me a bit weary to buy a lot of items here, as I'm not sure if I'm always getting a good price. The strongest section here is probably the produce which overall offers a large variety at good prices. Fresh fruits and vegetables would be the top reason to shop here and having a different selection of ready-to-cook items than what you'd find at Jewel or Mariano's. read more

Valli Produce was near a place that we were going to for dinner, so we stopped in because we needed a few things. We found the bananas that we were looking for and then decided to see what else was offered. We noticed that the expiration dates were not very good. Two products I looked at were a week past their expiration date. The prices were also higher than I'm used to for some items. I've used Valli for years for their produce section. They have a good variety of international goods in their dry goods section as well. However, be careful of their return policy. Even if you follow what's on the receipt (return within 7 days for food items with receipt) they will not honor it. The one thing I got there every month was the White Mountain Bulgarian yogurt 1 gallon size. This time when I opened it at home, it smelled like wet socks stuffed in a ziplock bag. From the time I paid for the purchase and returned to the store, it was less 2 hours. I had my receipt but they the store manager refused my refund because the item was open. He said they make such a low profit margin already, I would have to contact the yogurt company if I wanted compensation. I didn't argue and paid for another 1 gallon container. Got home and same thing, wet sock smell. Their batch must have lost containment or something because this one was spoiled as well. I lost 40 bucks. Was burned twice, so will be using Tony's Fresh Market from now on. They carry the 1 gallon size and when I opened it this morning, it smelled like fresh tangy yogurt. read more

Valli typically has the usual groceries we shop for, with the added bonus of lower priced fresh produce than other neighborhood stores. As other Yelpers may have noticed, Valli is in an older building and some areas of the store don't look as clean or updated as nearby stores like Amazon Fresh, but it's worth the savings you get here. I've been comparing prices on our staple items like eggs, skim milk, bread, skinless, boneless chicken breast, and some of our other favorites, and Valli still typically comes out ahead for me. One of our favorite brands is El Milagro chips and tortillas. I have a hard time finding these in stock at Jewel or other stores (they seem very popular) and tortilla chip bags were scarce at the height of COVID. However, this is now my go-to place for my favorite ground turkey taco salad fixings. Highlights for me are the deli items, sushi counter, varoety of ehole grain and pita breads, and the bulk food aisles for raw nuts, raisins, and other itemsbuild-your-own trail mix. On my last visit, the cashiers were super friendly and giving away bottles of free hand sanitizer. The baked goods here are fresh, decadent, and reasonably priced too. The parking lot chaos is enough to keep me from shopping at Valli on the weekends, so I try to come early on a weekday to avoid the crowds. read more

I have been shopping here for years and never had a problem. Today I had a problem and was shocked by the rude and condescending manner of the manager. I needed to return a carton of whipping cream that was congealed in the carton. He treated me as if I had done something wrong and was extremely dismissive and rude. They did refund my money but there was no apology or acknowledgement of the time I wasted driving back to the store. Very disappointing and unprofessional. read more

Bought expired ice cream, Oberweis to be exact from here. The taste was off, tasted like sand. I got sick from eating the ice cream, I went to tell them my concern and they had the audacity to tell me next time contact Oberweis directly, No sorry, no let me go check the other products to see if they expired, no hope you feel better. The manager didn't even talk to me, the little girl in the front getting all mouthy with me, talking smack under her breath. Never going back! I love this place. I go out of my way to come here. I most have everything I need for Middle Eastern foods and everything else. The produce is always fresh and never looks bad, the meats look great and is always fresh, the deli is quick and the meats are fantastic. I love their dairy selection because there are certain types of foods that I can't find in regular grocery stores, due to them being ethnic, and they have a plethora of choices. The service is always good and the produce/veggies are always fresh. When I need help, I can find a helpful person to assist with no hesitation or eye rolling. THE PRICES ARE FANTASTIC! We shop here at least once a week or more, if I'm cooking a lot that week. My boyfriend and I have a system: when we walk in, he goes to the deli counter and gets me a number while I shop through the produce section. This way when I reach the deli counter, it's about my turn to order. Grab a few extra bags from produce department if you plan on grabbing any meats. They have some bags near the meats but are out on occassion. There is always something on sale in the deli department: some cheese option and some meat option. We are turkey and munster cheese sandwich people. Even if they are not on sale, their regular pricing is just fine. Their homemade turkey breast is very good and Sara Lee quality. Their turnover is incredible so everything is always fresh. The chances of the guys at the deli counter having to go in the back to get a fresh turkey breast are great and it's very often that at least one of the items I'm ordering call for this. They are very friendly and work their butts off. It's an older store so it does not appear to be the "cleanest", but it really is very well kept. If you compare it to the other Valli in Carol Stream, you will prefer that location but they really are comparable. You don't do all your shopping here- your focus needs to be produce, deli, meats and bread in their bakery. You will do your regular shopping here if you go once! read more

I got 99 problems but the 99 cent blackberry cartons ain't one. That's right, Folks. Valli Produce has NINETY-NINE CENT Blackberry cartons. You know how much that ish usually costs me? $2.99 on AVERAGE. $2.69 on a good day. After my first time shopping at Valli Produce, I felt as if I'd been made a fool of by other grocers. How did I go my whole life being practically price gouged by the likes of Jewel, Dominicks, and I don't want to say it, but even Trader Joe. I know Valli isn't organic but it's cheaper than dirt. Literally, cheaper than dirt. I mean, it has it's trade offs and all- like the customers are battier than sh*t, but you know, you get a little of that everywhere... you're just more likely to be run down by an old lady looking for pre-sliced bananas (what!?) while spotting someone's 8 year old sitting their ass in the bread bins at the deli counter... and everyone's just A-Okay with it. And you will be too- when you do a double take at those prices. Things I got for under $20: 1. 6 Kolacky Cookies from the bakery (2 apricot, 2 cheese, and 2 nutella) 2. A dozen Amish brown eggs 3. Pomegranate Juice 4. 3 Avocados 5. 4 Kiwis 6. 2.01 lbs of Sweet Potatoes 7. 1.55 lbs of Bosc Pears 8. 1 Corn Flavored Popsicle (hyup, you read that right) 9. 1.65 lbs of Naval Oranges 10. 6 Cartons of Blackberries (that I ate in less than a day) 11. .98 lbs of Florida Sunburst Tangerines AMAZING! Sure, the cookies kinda sucked and the corn popsicle was pretty strange (the first layer tastes like breast milk), but it's hard to complain in a world where I can eat my weight in berries for less than a Benji. One thing my veteran Valli Produce BF pointed out is that you have be careful when shopping the VF as most all of their produce is just at it's peak ripeness so it won't last long after purchase. It's important not stockpile shop (which is what I usually do) or you'll end up wasting a lot of the goods if not consumed in mass quantities at light speed. I've been coming to Valli for many years now as this location is close to home and they were once the cheapest place for produce and other fresh groceries. It was convenient, despite the extremely rude patrons that frequent this establishment and the crazy drivers who try to run me over or park diagonal and take up three parking spots while dinging my doors and crushing my bumpers. The produce was of decent quality for the price and the meat was once of great quality but ever since the remodeling, quality has gone down and prices have gone up considerably. Despite the convenience of their location, I am forced to discontinue my patronage. I recently went to their location in Arlington Heights and discovered that their premium eggs were a dollar or more cheaper than at the Hoffman Estates location. I then checked on other items that I buy often and noticed small price differences as well. I've already been shifting my grocery shopping away from Valli but discovering such a huge difference in pricing on basic items such as eggs has solidified my decision to leave the Valli brand for good. Jewel-Osco, which is right down the street has very similar items at prices that Valli used to have without the overly crowded rude patron environment that permeates Valli. Valli, get your sh*t together before more people catch on to your scam and shift to Jewel, who is hungry for all of your business. read more

Valli in Hoffman Estates has rebranded, remodeled, and officially reopened. What's new? Valli has expanded on their produce, frozen section, bakery, seafood, and meat section. They took over the Lazer Zone area and added a Charter One Bank, an olive bar, live seafood section, and a sushi station. The new layout is more spacious around high traffic areas and utilizes the space more efficiently. If you weren't a fan of Valli before because of the crowds, then you will appreciate how much open the space is. The cleanliness issue has also been addressed. Once you walk in, anti bacterial wipes are available for all of us OCD folks. Here are the best two aspects of Valli: the prices and variety. You'll find better deals here than on sale items at Jewel/Dominicks/Marianos with much more variety. Since a significant number of Valli's customer base are ethnic, you'll find produce, products, and cuts of meat readily available that you won't ever find at typical grocery chains. If you are a cooking enthusiast like me, you'll appreciate lamb, veal, octopus, Chinese vegetables, and exotic fruits available year round. On top of that, Valli probably has the best sushi deal in Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg. After 7:00pm, all of the sushi is on sale for 50% off. You can't beat 9 piece rolls being sold for only $2-3. Kudos to the management of Valli in Hoffman Estates. They are truly offering something unique and different to the market. It's why you'll see me there almost twice a week. read more

I came in this morning & the male in deli did NOT stop his personal conversation to take my order-- I had to go out oft way to say something otherwise they wd MOT hv acknowledged me! I also think the health dept. shld visit the preparation room in the rear of deli; the female filling take out chicken used her BARE hand to fill the container-- time to use a GLOVE ppl! I recently visited the store for the first time. It is quite small but it was clean. Every sections are organized and fully stocked. I was shocked to know that they have better deals than the other nice grocery stores around. This is pretty far for my place but seeing the great deals, I would probably shop here from time to time. Fruits and veggies are very fresh with various selection in their produce section. They also have nice selection of meats and even deli. Staff is nice. I was in the checkout and the staff in there was friendly and helpful. The store is overall great. if only I live around this neighborhood I would probably be a regular customer. read more

Wonderful produce, amazing prices ... your eyes will pop out of your head when you realize how much more expensive fruit and vegg are elsewhere. There's also a great selection of nuts (individually weighed and priced per/lb. in plastic boxes), an endless variety of gummies and chocolates packaged like this as well, and all sorts of ethnic wonders that you can only find here (or for the price, at least). Shopping at Valli allows you to be Mexican one day, Indian the next, Central European (Hey!) yet another, and all in the most lip-smacking and wallet-loving way. Hurrah! I have one bone to pick with this place... The parking lot. Brace yourself! It's like the DMV test lot. No, worse. All sorts of fresh-off-the-boat folks (and fresh-into-a-car, I'd assume) who make 10-point turns to get into a parking spot. It's beautiful. There are weekly bargains on fresh vegetables and fruit that are a lot cheaper than your local grocery store. There is quite a variety of fresh produce compared to your apples and oranges at your local store. The other place to hit up would be the deli section with name brand lunch meat at every day low prices. You can always count on getting a lb of sara lee turkey breast for 3.99 or less. Staff is overall friendly and ready to help. After finishing your purchases of fresh food, you can hit up the aisle for ethnic ingredients. This is your one stop shop for food. The deli is awesome and the deli meats and cheese are very reasonably priced. Most things in the store are competitively priced with Jewel or Aldi, the fruits and veggies are usually better priced, the meats are mostly good, I can find calves liver for the wife, great deals on boneless skinless chicken and great deals on pork. The ONLY problem I have found is the steaks, at least when they have a steak sale. I have a freezer with over a dozen steaks in it that are pretty much inedible, they are tough as nails, I don't know if when they have a steak sale they buy from a horse farm or what happens but I have tried to marinade, sear, slow cook, fast cook, everything, but I cannot make these steaks edible. I mean T-Bone, Strip, Porterhouse and Rib-eye's they do not sell good steak. everything else is just fine. read more

This store has the worst customer service ever. Some Employees attitude it is just unacceptable. Many times I brought it up to different managers but seems like they can care lass about any complaints. I rarely go to Valli because I'm not gonna spend my money and get horrible attitude from employees. Today I want to Valli because it was on my way and as usual deli employees were extremely rude when I asked for the manager employee told me "I don't care about you go get the manager yourself " I went and told the manager what happened and showed him the employee who spoke to me in a very inappropriate way. Right after manager left employees were speaking Spanish so I couldn't understand what they were saying about me and laughing so hard in my face. I never was mistreated that way in my whole entire life. Whoever is in charge of this business should make changes immediately. I will do everything in my power to let everyone know how ignorant people who work there and run this place are. read more

Went there at 8:30 after calling to see what time they close which is 9:00. Started shopping and heard the announcement at around 8:40 that they will be closing in 15 minutes and that all departments will be closing in 15 minutes. Worked my way through the produce section which was being torn down. No biggie need to clean and put stuff away. I get it. I was able to find most of what i needed and worked my way over to the deli. Heard the announcement again and looked at my watch. 8:47. Cool I will get my deli stuff quick. Some sliced meat and cheese for the week for lunches. Walk up to the counter and the guy says they are closed. I said you close at 9. He said "we have to clean up and this slicer (1 of 6 that they have) is clean" I said you are kidding and of course he said no. I would have left my cart full of groceries and left empty handed, but I needed what I had. I then go to check out and ask the guy, who just made the announcement again, about closing. He was also the guy who rang me up, about what time they close. He said 9. So of course I asked if that meant the deli too and he said yes. I then told him that he should let them know. I usually have decent experiences here, and I understand that they would like to go home. It just left me a little upset that I was unable to complete my shopping. Unfortunately some times you have to shop when you have time, and this was the only time I had early in the week and I really needed stuff. Out of 3 Valli locations, this is my least favorite. Parking is hard because the lot is always packed. And even at 1pm on a Tuesday, it's too crowded. Wait at the deli is insane. You can't argue with their price and selection. However, it's worth it for me to pay more somewhere less crowded, and save my sanity - because everyone will tell you that I don't have much of that to start with. read more

Valli, I am giving you the fifth star! After keeping the deli counter open the night before the Blizzard of 2011 until all of the patrons were served, you deserve that fifth star. As usual, we got our number as fast as my 14 year old son could make it to the counter and had to wait a good 20-25 minutes. The store was getting ready to close in about 15 minutes, but the deli guys took good care of us and treated us as kindly as they would have if it was eleven in the morning instead of nine at night. Since the remodel Valli has been running smoothly. I love that I have a Dominick's close by that always has a sale that says limes 5 for $2, while I can always get limes at Valli for 10 for $1. I only go to Dominick's if I need to and prefer to save my shopping for Valli because everything is so cheap and available. Things like soy milk...not so much but I make up for it in my produce shopping and meats. I love their deli counter and I usually stop there first because it takes the longest. It's not the deli workers are slow, it's because the people in the area know where to get great lunch meat. Their homemade Italian beef which comes with a huge bucket of au jus is awesome. Black forest turkey breast is another nice find and they have 3 different types of mortadella if you're inclined to make a muffaletta sandwich at home. Produce, my 3 year old eats blueberries, strawberries and bananas like they're going out of style. Target charges 25 cents per banana, Valli has them from 39-59 cents a pound. Guess where I stock up. I also love their ethnic cookie aisle. I never know what I'm going to find but I love it. If you ever need help their workers know where everything is. For curious toddlers my daughter likes to check out the fish and watch the lobsters. read more

I go here every weekend. Usually Saturday, sometimes Sunday if I've got Saturday morning plans. Like everyone else is saying, the parking is crazy. I just park far away near the Bode Rd. entrance and walk. I also try to get there by 8:30 am. The crowds aren't as crazy at that time, and you start to recognize the "morning regulars." Produce is awesome, meat and cheese selection is great. I get a big pork roast pretty often, crock pot it on Sunday. When the Bears game is over, BAM! Pulled pork sandwiches ready to go. They've also got that cool discount produce rack, so if you know you're using it that night or the next, it's a great bargain. I sometimes even get a free cookie from the bakery for my son when I bring him. He loves that. read more

Valli Produce is fantastic. They are the Rolls-Royce of produce with broken down 1980's Geo prices. They have the freshest produce that we have ever seen. Their selection is phenomenal, and everything there (produce-wise) is the creme de la creme. We really don't have anything bad to say about this place. If you're ever near-by and need to find fresh cilantro, ginger, mangoes, or 5 different types of lettuce -- you name it (and on the cheap), you should probably make a pit stop here. With their bright lighting and bins, it is a local-farmer's market version of a more affordable Whole Foods. You can not beat their prices or their selection. read more

I have now made my home in several different parts of the country, all of which have had their different major grocery store chains. Just when I get one figured out, work takes me elsewhere and I have to start from ground zero all over again. I should probably also add that I am not one of those urban hipster types that refers to places like World Market or Whole Foods in a quasi-religious context either. Blue collar mentality, white collar profession. Just how I roll. Any who, I selected this grocery store based solely upon it being the closest one to my apartment via Google Maps. Other than it being located in a strip mall with the most poorly designed parking lot arrangements I have ever seen (is it a requirement to be a drug addict to be a city planner in Hoffman Estates?) the store itself was a cut above what I was expecting. The produce was all extremely fresh, and the selection was wide and diverse. I had to do far more wandering around than normal since I was unfamiliar with the layout, but for the purposes of this review that is probably a good thing. Other than fresh vegetables, I also picked up some meat from the deli and ground chuck from the butcher shop and both were quite good for a large chain. Prices were also far lower than I was expecting, which is certainly a plus. My checkout attendant was one of the most pleasant people I have encountered since I arrived here, and not in that forced "Hi there sir, did you find everything alright"? type of way either. She seemed generally interested in making pleasant conversation. Alas, friendly customer service is such a lost art these days. The store could stand to be a little clearer, at least during my visit, but the building does appear quite old, at least by Hoffman Estates standards.
