I used to frequent Floyd's, but their prices are pretty steep for the services we were looking for. Thankfully, we came across ValleyCuts! With the great reviews and low prices, we had to give them a try and are happy with the results. The two ladies working there (one was the owner) were both really friendly and attentive to our needs. Holy moly! This place is such a diamond in the rough! I'm brand-new to the area and after leaving my home of 10 years and not having cut my super-long, thick hair in over a year, I was desperate and nervous to find someone who could bring my hair back to life before a fun weekend in my new home with friends. After reading all the positive reviews I called ValleyCuts and was pleased to find that their next available appointment was today! So I booked with Ana at 2:30pm and figured I'd head over after a long lunch with a girlfriend down on Ventura. I arrived early, just before 2 and was seated with a little cold bottled water, which is very appreciated. Before I knew it it was 2:30 and we got started right on time! Long story, short: Ana knows what the f*ck she's doing. She asked all the right questions and communicated her process while she worked on my hair, so I was immediately put at ease knowing she's very experienced. We chatted the entire time (she was so lovely!) and at the end of it I had EXACTLY the haircut I was looking for. As a survivor of a few bad haircuts, I can't tell you how relieved I was after going out on a same-day whim! Then, at checkout I about fell to the floor when my wash+cut+blowout was only $42... FORTY TWO DOLLARS. Since as long as I can remember, and I ditched SuperCuts before I was 10 years old, I have always prepared myself to pay at LEAST $80 to cut my head of hair (cause I have so much of it). I felt like I was robbing that woman! So, I gave her over 20% tip, and think everyone should do the same every damn time cause she's definitely not charging us enough!! I really enjoyed coming here. The lady who does my eyebrows is extremely good. Also Ana! But I went this past weekend to get my hair cut. I sat with a lady I've never gotten my hair cut here before. I was scared at first to even cut my hair but I was prepared. I showed her exactly what I wanted and how I wanted my layers. With two different pictures. When she finish doing the cut I was so upset. She cut it way to short, the layers I wanted were long layers, she did choppy layers which I HATE and Ill told her before she even started. My hair looks so bad. To top it off She cut my bangs the size of the first layer which makes it seem off. Now I am so disappointed. I still can't believe I paid for it. Now I just have to wait on this hair to grow! Absolutely amazing place! Went in for color and cut and I must say I'm so glad I found them on Yelp and gave them a try. My hair was looking so horrible and it feels so awesome now I got exactly what I wanted. Shout out to Bernadette who did an amazing job. She honestly gets my hair better than I do, and she is the sweetest woman you'll ever meet. She talks to you openly about the coloring, the layers, everything. When I got home, My brother asked me where I went because my cut was crooked and my fade SUCKED. I have no clean lines. Its uneven and I feel embarrassed to put my hair up and show my messed up fade. I was really looking forward to a clean cut, and came out looking like my mom had cut my hair with her eyebrow trimer. I went in because my brother had gotten his hair cut there. He got his cut with a light skinned girl and it came out pretty good. I went in to get my neck shaved. I asked for a simple v on the neck. The person who helped me was a latina lady with highlights her station is on the left side. She was very nice and flirtatious with her previous client who happens to be a male. With me, she was rude and she was doing everything so fast like she wanted me out of there asap. When I looked at the cut she had made, it wasnt clean and it looked choppy. I asked her to fade it out because it didnt look good and maybe she would correct it by fading it out. I assumed that she would be a professional at doing the fade since she does it to many male clients. I had to keep telling her to make it better because it just didn't look right. After a while, I just wanted to leave because I was frustrated at the fact that she was half-assing my hair cut. Was it because I was a girl and she didnt have interest in doing a good job on me? I am not sure. I was really nice and didnt like how she cut my hair just because she had to. She had a resting mean face. If she didnt feel like doing my hair, she could have just said so. It would have saved me time, and money since I still payed her and have to go elsewhere to get it fixed. read more

I went in there to get my A-bob cut trimmed. I admit I was a little nervous about having a random stylist cut on my hair, as I have had bad experiences at other salons in the past, and as result had terrible haircuts. I desperately needed a cut, as appearance is vital at my job so I chose Valley Cuts. No only did I get an excellent cut but Anna was extremely personable. I even had a pleasant chat with her while she made my hair look amazing. She was very attentive to the length so it would not be crooked or uneven, and she explained everything while she cut. My cut only cost $17, which was worth every penny, and much, MUCH more affordable than the $60 I had been paying at a salon I used to go to when I worked out in Glendale. I am completely disappointed with Valleycuts, I was turned down for service after coming in for a consultation with Ana Wednesday afternoon for a highlight job that I wanted done. Ana quoted me $140 for the highlights and still included a trim for 20 and told me Kelly was the girl for the job. I called and spoke to Ana to ask for years of experience on Kelly and to make my appointment, to only be automatically turned down. Now all of a sudden after being quoted and guaranteed during my consultation that they were "capable" of completing the job their no longer able to do what I asked for... therefore I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking hair coloring or anything more than a simple haircut. read more

We choose ValleyCuts because of the other reviews, we arrived at 9:50am and didn't come out until 2:40pm. Both my sister and I were getting our hair done. I told my stylist Anna everything i had done with my hair a year ago and what was my situation i explained that i wanted to bleach my hair then lighten it and she said that it wasn't a good idea and recommend i choose something else i told her i was okay with that i just didn't want a lot of different colors in my hair i wanted one solid color as it was i had 3 different colors in it. Before she put in the hair dye i told her i was concerned because that my hair wasn't going to take the hair dye she assured me it would be okay and not to worry as she washed out the hair dye my hair kept getting pulled and she would scrape my scalp hard with her nails i know it wasn't on purpose but still made my scalp very sore. as she was done washing out the dye i noticed that my hair was still the same no difference other than now my roots where light blonde and the rest of my hair was two different colors(patches of light and patches of dark brown i looked like a cheetah). I told her i wasn't happy that my hair looked exactly the same just with light roots she told me she was sorry that she didn't know the dye wouldn't stay and the only thing she could do is darken my roots (back how it was when i arrived) and not charge me so pretty much no change to my hair at all. I agreed to that, and told her that my scalp is very sore from when she washed out the hair dye the first time, she apologized and was more gentle in washing out my roots. but since my scalp was sore it even hurt to touch my hair so we agreed to air dry instead of blow out dry, lets just say i walked out looking like a cheetah troll.( i had patches all over and my hair was so frizzy). As i am writing this review(6:15pm) my scalp is still tender and sore. My sister's experience was not good either she never dyed her hair before and wanted an ombre color, her hair is naturally dark brown and at the end of the 5hrs all she left with was bleached tips it looks nothing like ombre her issue was she showed her stylist a picture of what she wanted and said i want my hair just like this can you do it like this picture? and the stylist respond with yes that's no problem. The stylist apologized and said that her hair took a lot of chemicals already and couldn't do anything to fix it so she give her a discount or wouldn't charge her because it didn't come out right and she was highly disappointed. Their customer service is great for sure a 5 star, but somehow we went down to different paths on agreeing with the coloring. As nice as they are we will not be returning here. read more

I have experienced a drastic change with thoughts and feeling of this establishment. I was asked to leave the salon b/c I shared specific instruction and expressed exactly what I wanted (which was a closer/lower hair cut on the sides). As I apprised the stylist (whom cut my hair the previous time), I was not fully satisfied with the last cut after getting home and viewing entire head. She became defensive and made excuses. The other stylist jumped into the conversation and encourage me to return to my previous salon to get what I want.......she too became defensive, argumentative and sarcastic by stating it is not a barbershop(unure where that came from being that the name of the salon is "Valley Cuts", which leads one to believe they are skilled in hair cutting. Never did either stylist say: "my apologizes, lets see if I/we can do better and meet your needs this time"(as I was willing to give another try). Instead, the mouthy lady who butted in, encouraged I leave........
