For the last year or two, I had been searching for a great Salon that's not only affordable, but in my neighborhood that does a great job. I had been buying Groupons and LivingSocials and feeling "eh" about the stylists I had been seeing one time at a time for about two years. Frustrated and needing a trim Summer 2012, I took to Yelp and found Studio 212 loving all the positive feedback. Living a mile away, I took a chance, gave them a call and was set up with Andi. First of all, this place is on Ventura, just East of Woodman so parking can be a challenge depending on the time of day. But you'll find something somewhere, as do I. Walking in, I noticed the bright, cheery decor of mustards and blues which makes the interior pop. I am a big fan of the 60s too and the Audrey Hepburn poster aesthetically pleases me! All the other stylists are sweet too, which makes for a relaxed vibe. Andi herself is GREAT! Love her! So sweet and friendly and listens with great suggestions for what you're looking for. When I get a trim, I get my locks layered and my hair is always looking gorgeous, full and glamourous! I even took a leap and dyed my whole head for the first time from dirty blonde to dark red which has been fabulous. I get compliments from not only my friends, but from total strangers on the street to the baristas at the Starbucks two doors down. I told her that I haven't been in a salon for about 4 years and that I wanted to know what to expect with the prices and she was very honest, accommodating and helpful with advice on what steps I could take if I didn't want to pay more than my budget. I hadn't cut my hair in forever; it's definitely a security blanket. When it got to the point where I couldn't ignore how awful my hair felt and looked, I went on a hunt for a salon that was in the Sherman Oaks area. Because I'm so attached to my hair, I wanted someone who could nail it. After combing through Groupon and seeing all the mixed reviews for every salon, I decided to hit Yelp, and came across Studio212's page. There were rave reviews essentially across the board, so I called them up, got an appointment, and made my way over an hour later! I was introduced to Viviana, who was incredibly relaxed and kind right off the bat. I explained to her that I was in desperate need of a hair cut and wanted to add a few highlights to my hair to add some depth. I showed her some pics of the colors and cut I had in mind, and she was happy to bounce ideas back and forth, as well as give me her professional opinion in a totally respectable way. She dry-cut my hair first to the length I wanted; hand painted all of my balayage highlights on; gave me a shampoo/conditioner wash/rinse; wet-trimmed my hair; and then blow-dried it. Not only was the cut exactly what I wanted, but Viv had picked the PERFECT highlight color mix for my hair. She was also an extreme joy to chat with while the work was being done. Today was the second time I've been to Studio212 with Viv, and she helped me tackle a haircut I've been terrified to actually go through with for a while. Again, she was a great consultant and absolutely nailed it in terms of length with this long bob (or "lob"). Just because what is the latest trend in hair style/ color doesnt always mean it will suit your face shape, your hair (fine or thick), or your lifestyle (meaning maintenance).
