Wow, I wouldn't have believed that Spring Mills housed some of the best Chinese food in the area but this place is great! I reluctantly drove the 45 minutes to give it a shot after hearing from multiple people about this place. It appears to be a family business in this rural area with a gravel lot adjacent. The restaurant is a small building with numerous tables for in service dining. They also seem to do a lot of takeout business. The service was attentive, refilled our drinks and the fried chips numerous times. They provide the fried chips with duck sauce to start for every table (something that seems to be missing from most places these days). The egg rolls appeared to come fresh out of the oven and they were some of the best I've had. I got General Tso's chicken and my wife got Garlic Chicken. Both dishes were delicious, fresh, excellent flavor and we had plenty for lunch the next day. I honestly can't wait to return! read more

We were told to check our Valley Wok, and I'm so glad we did, even with a twenty-minute drive. It is a simple spot, with very kind service. The four of us enjoyed our food and we all had leftovers to take home. The General Tso's was very good, it had great flavor - the spice wasn't over powering the dish. My friend had the chicken and mixed vegetables and really enjoy it as well! Didn't get to snap any pictures this time because we were ready to enjoy our food. This place is better than any of the "great" Chinese restaurants in State College. American Chinese food is basically the same items and recipes everywhere with slight variations. So the biggest differentiation between places is the cooking. At Valley Wok the execution is just better than anywhere around here. The bite. The seasoning. The textures are just on a higher level. I have zero business in the area of the restaurant and will be making the 25 minute trip past every Chinese restaurant in State College to go here instead. Good food, beautiful drive to location. Nice lady always working there, super friendly. Good portions. Did not like the egg rolls, mushy inside, didn't like the gyoza, the chives were overwhelming. The chip strips n sweet sour sauce is addictive!! Loooove their pork hunan, even better the next day! The garlic chicken was epic, tofu dishes are all great! I go back a lot! read more

every time I leave there, I think it was an entirely satisfactory experience. even the water is good, oddly enough. but it is over a spring, and has spring in its town name. given it's location, not an area known for chinese restraurants. also, it has a nice carved large wall mural. only problem, it is a long way from state college. read more

We really enjoyed our recent lunch there. Granted it was a Sunday morning shortly after it opened but we were seated right away. Service was quick. Our meals arrive piping hot and quite tasty. Portions were very large and we had plenty to take home! Prices were very reasonable. Was well worth the drive from State College to Spring Mills. This place gets 5 stars, this places food is fantastic. Small place, tables are cosy. Staff very helpful, service prompt. One thing that was strange, all front end staff were Anglo ? Everything was perfect when we had a late lunch there on 9/7. The food was good and plentiful (Pork Lo Mein and Hunan Sliced Pork), the prices were very reasonable and the service was quick. The owners had obviously taken some trouble with the decorations to create a pleasant dining experience. Right after we sat down we were served a basket of crispy noodles and bowls with duck sauce for dipping. Utter bliss! Another thing I noticed was how sparkly clean their bathroom was. That's where even good restaurants often fail. We will be back for sure - in spite of the 30 minutes drive from State College! read more

The food was okay, it was quite bland a little too oily for me, the kitchen needs some more flavor or some different ingredients or something because the two times I have gone the food has been very bland usually Chinese food is very flavorful with spices and the like well not here. However the front of the house was top notch. The service is very good. read more

I judge a good Chinese restaurant on its hot and sour soup and I've had a lot of it. This is the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. I just wish I lived closer to them so I could try the rest of their menu. I can't wait to go back and would even consider moving closer to be able to go there often. Wow, what a gem!!! Wonderful Chinese food in this quaint peaceful setting. We had the steamed noodles as an appetizer. They were the best that I have had in many years. The Szechuan shrimp was a large portion and you can select the level of heat. They were very good as well. Chicken and cashews was also on the menu was a large portion that we could not finish and the flavor was very good. Service was fast and polite. We are certain to add this as one of our favorite local restaurants. read more

Truly some of the best American Chinese food I've had in my life hidden in a remote Pennsylvania valley. The egg drop soup was fantastic - light and sweet with perfect proportion of broth, egg, and even corn. The crab Rangoon and egg rolls were crispy and delicious.
