They said my order was already delivered "a long time ago" but it was not here. Restaurant put me in touch with the driver. The driver ended up delivering to my neighbor despite very specific directions that my apt was in the back of the building. $30 for one meal you expect to get your food actually delivered to your house. We are new to the area and love Chinese food. After checking around, Lychee seems to be the only real "Chinese" restaurant. We've ordered from them 3 times so far and feel mostly favorable. The spicy eggplant is delicious. The lo mein is also great. Sweet and sour chicken very good. Eggrolls, ok. However, I draw the line with the fried rice, it's awful. It is flavorless with, I assume, a few drops of soy sauce and a small handful of "mixed tiny diced carrots and peas", you know, the kind in the frozen food aisle. There may be a couple small pieces of onion if you dig around for them. Honestly, I'd be embarrassed as a Chinese restaurant to serve this. Fried rice typically has nice size onion pieces, sliced scallions, a few pieces of egg, maybe a bit of cabbage, certainly a few pieces of roast pork, maybe a few mushroom slices, and it's sauted in oil. If this is what they call "fried rice", I can't imagine what their "plain" fried rice is? I think that's just called "rice". I will still eat here because it appears most of their menu is good, but I will stay away from their rice, which is a shame because I really enjoy good fried rice. read more

Their range suggests that if you order what is good, it will be good, and if you order what they are bad at, it will bad. How have I never reviewed Lychee before??? This has been our go-to Chinese takeout restaurant since moving here six years ago. We tried it the first time because when we first moved here they were the only Chinese place delivering to Boalsburg, but we order once every two or three weeks now. The food always arrives quickly, although we do usually order on weekdays when it might be less busy. I have always loved their "golden nuggets", which is pretty much general Tso fried tofu, and recently they've added orange tofu and sesame tofu which area also really good. We usually also get their scallion pancakes; they aren't crispy but they're very flavorful! read more

Beef Ho Fun was very good (see pic). Appears to have been designed for take-out and delivery, but there are about 3 tables and 3 window counter seats should one decide to dine-in. Had heard good reviews for the General Tsos chicken so I ordered the dinner combo with pork fried rice and a wonton soup Firstly, I have to say that I was really impressed with the delivery. From online order to my dorm it was only about 40 minutes, which aside from Uncle Chens 20 minute materialization, is light speed for Chinese delivery. Before I even opened the takeout box I knew everything was still hot which is a big issue of mine. Huge portion of generals that was accompanied by an equally large portion of rice. The rice wasn't special but the chicken was above average. Still crispy even with generous amounts of sauce, and had a satisfying spiciness that you expect from the "order extra spicy get extra mild" style if most places. A solid meal overall for the price. So, my experience was on any typical Tuesday evening, around 7:00 (order placed online) to delivery 7:35 (received at hotel). The food came exactly as ordered at an exceptionally fast speed. Everything came fresh and hot. The beef sticks had good flavor but we're a little on the skimpy side. Chicken and garlic was powerful, with each pice clinging onto thin, pepper slices to add some kick. The veggies were crisp, but featured way more than the chicken, and my liking. My biggest hangup with the experience was the fact that I ordered soup and wasn't given a spoon with my bag of utensils/sauces/etc. while a small oversight of at home, it certainly made eating soup from a work station in a hotel room challenging. I really liked my whole taken out experience! I read through a bunch of reviews and looked at pictures before coming here, and I think they have really improved on some things that people may have had bad experiences with. I got the szechuan shrimp and it was delicious! The shrimp were big, tender, and delicious. All of the veggies tasted fresh and varied well (they didn't just throw a couple of peppers in and call it "mixed vegetables"). I asked for light on the sauce but it still seemed like a lot- not a big deal but if you don't like a lot of sauce maybe ask for it light or on the side. When I showed up to pick up order and bring it home, where we had company waiting, not only wasn't the order ready but the restaurant was clearly overwhelmed. This was not on a holiday or special event day or even on a weekend. It was difficult to even get to speak to someone about the status as they were constantly on the telephone or in the kitchen. This is five stars for price vs. quality ratio. Lychee Resto is not gourmet Chinese food, but it's really tasty, lots of variety on the menu, really fast and very affordable (student-friendly prices). Don't be fooled, when we first moved to State College we thought it must be a bad place to eat because there were never any people inside and few cars ever parked there. Probably 95% of their customers get take-out or delivery and they have many loyal customers, including our family now. We always choose take-out and live nearby. The food is always hot, fresh and ready when we get there 10 minutes later. They have all the typical Americanized Chinese fare, cooked well (non-vegetarians should get combos with the pork fried rice, mmmm!) such as Orange Chicken, crispy with just the perfect amount of tasty sauce. For those more adventurous, they have really tasty soups and some noodle dishes you may not have tried before. I am in LOVE with the Singapore Mei Fun. It's spicy thin fried rice noodles with veggies and chicken, bbq'd pork and shrimp in a fairly dry, sortof curry spice mix. I also love the rice cake dishes. These are nickel-sized rice disks (think pasta-ish) cooked with the veggies or meat of your choice in a light sauce. The texture and flavor of the rice cake dishes is unique and satisfying. We're still working our way through the extensive menu at Lychee Resto, but we try something new almost every time and we have yet to find an item that is not cooked with care and effort that's delicious. We ordered for delivery on Lionmenus on probably their busiest/snowiest night of the year (over 40 min wait). We got the wrong order when delivered and had to call back to get the right order. They were happy to oblige, but after 40 minutes of waiting, no replacement, we called back and found that they were also confused as to why we hadn't gotten our food ("Our drivers have been out with the food for awhile now"). Found out later, when the owner came with our food, that their drivers had gotten in accidents due to the snow. We were very impressed with their commitment to their customers. He offered us a discount on our next order and we got to keep the other food. We will order from Lychee again, good prices, good quantity of food, highly spiced (a little salty in some of the more classic americanized chinese food dishes, but overall satisfying). Can't wait to try the noodle dishes. I've only seen their location from the road. I would suggest, however, that they repaint the interior of their location.
