My husband and I recently spent 2 days wine tasting and enjoying Jacksonville. We visited Valley view on our first day, second winery of the day. The views are beautiful and the patio offers nice shade. There is an inside area as well but it was a perfect day to be outside. The owner (I can't recall his name) immediately greeted us as we approached, sat us down and asked what types of wines we typically enjoyed. There was no looking and deciding about what tasting to do. There is a description of all their wines at the table. He then brought out the wines, explained them and why he selected them for us. We enjoyed a lovely charcuterie board, some deviled eggs, spending a couple of hours there. We purchased 4 bottles of wine as well. It was a really lovely experience and I highly recommend. We selected Valley View because it was the first official winery in the applegate AVA. read more

Went there on Saturday afternoon. There have many different wines to choose from. Both the red and whites are amazing. We ordered a charcuterie tray and a gyro sandwich. The tray had lots of fresh food variety to choose from and the sandwich was great. The host, Russell, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. My wife and I are staying in the area on vacation and stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon. We did tasting and we had a very enjoyable experience. Mike poured our wine and told us about the history of the winery and the Rogue Valley. Neither of us are the biggest fans of red wine but we ended up buying a bottle of their "Oshala" Pinot Noir before we left because it was so good. read more

We visited here about ten years ago and were looking forward to our return trip. We really like their wines, especially those from their new label, Domaine Rogue. Valley View Winery, Jacksonville, OR - October 4, 2024 This is a beautiful Harvest Host property. We arrived around noon, met winery owner Gail, and got set up. Our site was terrific. It was located just passed the parking lot area on the right on a decomposed granite strip overlooking a grassy picnic area with awesome gigantic oak trees. There were nice tables and chairs positioned around them with a couple picnic tables as well. They had a cornhole game set up. After having lunch in our coach, we went into the tasting room to try their wines. We each got a flight of six wines. The usual $12 per person tasting fee was waived for the month of October. Lucky us! The wines were all pleasant. We liked the 2021 Domaine Rogue Gravel Lane Pinot Noir and Rosé the best. They had a special on the Rosé, buy two and receive the third one for free. We got 3 for $44. Deal! We also bought a bottle of the Pinot Noir - $38. The tasting room closes at 5 and afterwards we had the place to ourselves. We set up our small camp table and barbecue, put on some nice steaks, and enjoyed them with our delicious Valley View Pinot Noir. There was some traffic going back and forth on the road going by the winery. Not sure where it was all coming from and going to. It's not at all terrible and died down after about 8. We had a good night's sleep and were pleasantly surprised by about 30 wild turkeys that invaded the winery lawn the next morning as we were enjoying our morning coffee. read more

I saw a post about Black Barn Farm and the flatbread that they were showcasing and that alone was enough to get me to roll out of the comfort of my bed on a Saturday. With the spousal unit out of town for a wedding I came to the realization that I needed to feed myself, it's not an easy thing to do on a Saturday when you just feel like sleeping in after a long week. I saw a post from Black Barn Farms and headed out. Admittedly had never been to Valleyview winery but have been everywhere else along the Applegate but this is one of those places that I constantly just passed by and probably shouldn't have. The food truck that is there specifically is accessible only by a small little chain-link fence on the Eastside of the grass slot through the trees and basically all you see is the black barn farms sign and then you see a food truck, that food truck is where the happiness for the day begins. I am a chicken and waffles fan thru and thru after living in LA and getting to enjoy Roscoes chicken and waffles but now I'm here Applegate and for the first time ever I'm getting to enjoy a plate of hot honey topped Beignet with two ranch fried eggs and bite-size fried chicken. I realize that the drive from Central point to Applegate is so worth it because I may need to make this part of my breakfast routine from now on. I am so happy I could cry. I walked into Valleyview winery, waited my turn in line and simply asked at the counter to hook me up with a white wine that would pair well with fried chicken and beignet, and the white zin that she coupled with it was absolutely perfect. I got to sit outside. I got to enjoy the occasional warmth of the sun, expressing its heat through the clouds while I enjoyed my plate of hot honey beignet with fried eggs and fried chicken and quite honestly I could not be any happier than I am right now. The happiness could not be superseded at least until my wife gets back home. Phenomenal. Worth the drive. Keeps the folks open. read more

We spent a wonderful, leisurely afternoon at Valley View, guided through an ample tasting by Russell, who was delightful. We focused on whites, and really liked the new release Sauvignon Blanc, but then Russell steered us toward the reds, and wow, this is where Valley View excels. Loved the Syrah. We left with a few bottles and came back a few days later for more. The location is easy to find and relaxing, either indoors or out. I don't think there is any food on offer, but I believe picnics are allowed. And - to note - this was my first experience with a public bathroom with a bidet seat! Refreshing! read more

Three of us popped in on our way back from a day at the lake. We were the only ones in on a late Monday afternoon and graciously taken in. The wine tasting is an actual tasting of various whites and reds they have to offer and I thought that they did a good job highlighting their wines. Our group really enjoyed the Domaine Rogue Chardonnay 2021, "Quercia" which is made in French Oak Barrels and my personal favorite was the Domaine Rogue Aroguematique White 2021. The views are really nice and we enjoyed the light breeze while hanging out in the large yard. read more

We went on a rainy and windy day so we did not have a chance to really enjoy the grounds during our tasting. The lady running the tasting (and her dog Lily) were great. Their wine is good. I really enjoyed their version of a red table wine (Rogue Red), Pinot Noir, and their late harvest wine. My husband appreciated their Tempranillo. read more

Valley View is a bit out of the way compared to the plethora of other wineries around Medford, but definitely worth the drive. The tasting room is very nice and open, with the reception "guarding" the library, which the staff is very happy to show the customer. Indoor seating is comfortable, bright, and not cramped. Outdoors greet you with majestic mountain views and a great overview of the vineyard. I'm not a big wine drinker, but the experience here brings me back time and time again. read more

Valley View Vineyard and Winery is located in the Applegate Valley. It was originally established by pioneer Peter Britt in the 1850's. The winery ended with Britt's death in 1906. The name was restored in 1972 by the Wisnovsky family. Gayle and I had been here a few years ago and really enjoyed their wines, the friendly folks, the handsome tasting building, and the scenic view of the vineyards and surrounding hills. On this year's stop, we bought a few nice bottles of wine and with the cheese and bread we bought at the Rogue Creamery, enjoyed a beautiful picnic lunch outside on a sunny and warm day. In terms of ambiance, it doesn't get much better than this. read more

After getting lost in one of the many undocumented mountain passes nearby, I decided to drop into Valley View and get a taste of their wines. It seemed only fitting as I used to live a few hours from Sonoma and Napa California! I rolled in and was immediately noticed that the vines were a bit better taken care of compared to the ones down the road. The grounds were in great shape and is an indicator, at least to me, that things are going well. I stepped off the motorcycle and peered to the door. I saw a massive dog, he noticed me and ran over. I realized that all 140 lb of Brock had only love to give (and slobber). I moseyed inside with Brock in tow and met the owner. He welcomed me in and started to chat as he poured tastings of all their wines. Their white wines were impressive and now I understand why their red blend is the highest selling in Oregon. Despite me having to ride my motorcycle, I was able to get a taste of everything including their desert wines. By the way, a tasting is only $5! I digress, it's a cool little spot and worth a stop over if you're in the area! read more

Valley View was our first winery after touring the historic district of Jacksonville. The woman at the visitor's center gave us this tip. Said the wines were very good and the views were amazing. She was right on both accounts. Upon driving up we were happy to see a pizza cart as it was getting on lunchtime and we knew we were going to need food if we were going to be wine tasting. We ordered a pie before heading into the tasting room. The folks working behind the counter here were very knowledgeable about their wines. It was a beautiful day and we were allowed to take our wines out to the patio area to enjoy the stunning views. Bottles here ranged from the $10 price range into the 20's. I don't recall that any of their bottles were in the 30's but I could be wrong as it has been a few weeks since we were there. They had a Yelp check in deal. 20% off a bottle of wine, but they also had buy 2 bottles and get a third for free on this visit. There were 3 types to choose from and they allowed us to get one of each. A nice way to spend a few hours on a weekend. read more

We had a wonderful time at Valley View Winery. The Wines were wonderful, we loved the tempranillo, and also greatly enjoyed both the blends. The wine taste wonderful, and great prices for bottles and glasses. The scenery is just beautiful. A great spot, with outdoor patio seating and comfortable indoor couches. We brought three kids with us and spend a few hours enjoying our wine, the view and the sweetest employee who told us the amazing back story on the family and vineyards. Overall, great wine, Great for children, and very welcoming. We truly enjoyed our time here! We will be back and definitely share with others read more

Was very impressed on this visit. Good wine, fantastic setting and the best service we had all weekend. Very reasonable tasting fee ($10) with five tastes per flight. They were OK with outside food for a picnic, which is getting harder to find at wineries as many serve their own food now. Large oak trees provide plenty of shaded seating on a large, lush lawn. A very relaxing atmosphere out in beautiful Applegate was the perfect combination for wine tasting and entertainment. Looks like my good friend Eric B. beat me to the first review! I was manning the helm when Jessica P. found this fine winery, so I had no idea Eric had reviewed it first. I fully agree - great ambiance, and a friendly, knowledgeable server. I wish we had seen the "mention you saw us on Yelp and your two tastings get comped" but we ended up getting that anyway with a 3-bottle purchase of one of they value-priced cabs, one that opens up and becomes more flavorful as you drink it. There were a few other solid choices here, so it's definitely worth a trip. We didn't have much room or budget for more wine, as we were on the tail end of our trip. We would have loved to stop at a few other wineries near Jacksonville but we had to make some time and make it home. To the server: thanks for the advice on directions - we played it (sort of) safe and took Little Applegate to Griffin Lane. it was an easy dirt road to navigate in our little Scion, and was a fun and scenic detour. Not bad to get the car dirty every once in a while. ;-) read more

The worst experience with a purchase ever. I mail ordered wine. The email/text updates I signed up for never happened. The automatic shipping link was for the wrong mail carrier. Two weeks later, I emailed them to get the status on my order. Then I got the information I needed, and was told it was not UPS (which shows up on their website with my tracking number). All of my correspondences were with one of the owners, Michael. He blatantly ignored questions I had asked (several times); and gave vague replies. Very ignorant. One of the wine bottles was not what I ordered. After blaming his business associate for that mistake, he said he'd look into it, and I never heard from him again. I will NEVER deal with this place again. Avoid this company like the plague. read more

An out-of-the-way gem that's really out of the way ... but since we were based in Medford for our visit, worth a stop by. I'd also lucked into a Groupon that offered two tastings and a 15% discount on purchases. Rock on! The tasting room is a beautiful little building with comfortable seating in and out (nice for the non-tasters among us). They were setting up for a wine club event that night, but made sure we were properly attended to. As with any good tasting, they offered a whole slew of "not on the list" options, including a not-yet-released Pinot and a fantastic white dessert wine. Before I knew it, I was shipping a mixed six bottles back home. read more

Very Classic Winery in Ruch, Oregon-- just outside of Jacksonville. And, this winery is in the South side of the Applegate AVA. I remember tagging along to this well-established winery when I was a young kid in the 80's while my Mom was wine-tasting with some friends. Their wines are very consistent and very good. I personally love their Cab Franc, but you can't go wrong. Their tasting room is really pretty and updated, and they also have a pretty generous estate outside, with picnic tables and such. Valley View, where I have been twice for tastings, is unwelcoming, pretentious and their wines taste "green" or very young. The tasting room doesn't have enough room for people to actually taste and I feel crowded and rushed.The staff was distracted, unfriendly (both times) and didn't tell us anything about the wines we were tasting. I tasted 6 or 8 wines each time, ranging from whites to reds and their rosetta. Not one wine did anything for me. My second trip I had a coupon for free tasting for two. There was three of us. Of all the wineries we stopped at that honored the coupon Valley View was the only one that charged us for the third tasting. Every other winery comped the third tasting. Not only will I not be tasting again at Valley View, but I will not be purchasing any of their wines, including their second label Anna Maria. I don't know what people love about this winery or their wines, but it is completely not my style. read more

We always make it a point to stop at this fantastic little winery...off the beaten path but a beautiful drive. Tasted their Viognier which had a crisp apple taste and went wonderfully with our picnic in their lovely park setting. Our Lab, Nate, loved playing frisbee on the spacious lawn while we enjoyed the fantastic weather and wine. This use to be the only winery in the area but now there are more than 8 others. We visited this winery in July. We bought a case of Rouge Red. It is a fantastic everyday wine. We revisited the winery this past week and bought two more cases of Rouge Red. Being from Northern Ca we had to stock up! Jackie was our host, very friendly. We had an opportunity to meet the owner on this trip. Great find! We're from California, I actually work for a winery in Napa (shall go unnamed), and this place was fantastic! We were coming back from Grants Pass to Jacksonville via the 238 and this place was just a mile off the beaten path. We got their 5 minutes before closing and they so graciously stayed open for the 6 of us to do a tasting and buy some wine. Best Sauv Blanc I've ever tasted!! I almost bought two! Then as they were closing up, we were sitting on their front porch area, taking in the most incredible view of the valley (hence the name, no doubt). Wish we could have gotten there earlier and had a picnic. Really impressed by the wine, really loved the tasting room attendants, really great place! Definitely worth a drop in! read more

Great wine, amazing iews and Fabulous service....Sarah is just amazing! This is our favorite sneak out of town for an hour to relax and get away. Great wines...for every palette, from a sparkling viognier, to a crisp chardonnay, a mellow merlot or a robust Cab, they have it all. I spent mother's day afternoon on the patio with my daughter overlooking the vineyard & hills.
