Tasting 7 wines
Julie D.

Small little tasting room, nothing fancy, yet does the trick. Several wines on the tasting. We preferred the Merlot and bought some. The owner and winemaker was very friendly and shared the history of the winery.

a bottle of wine with a dog on it

We stayed here overnight in our RV as a guest under the Harvest Host program. The owners were very cordial. We did a wine tasting while we were there. Their wines are unique. We bought six bottles is their Aggie Dog White as part of our case. BEWARE OF THIS WINE. The fermentation is not complete before it was bottled. Pressure builds up within the bottle and the corks pop and the wine leaks out. This would have been a fine condition if champagne bottles and corks were used. The wine leaking can cause damage.

Sweet, Out-of-the-Way Winery That Sells "Bad Apple Cider"! SITREP While looking for Dancin Vines and Red Lily Vineyards, we just happened across the sign at the end of the driveway for Devitt - a total left-turn. THE SETUP You really think you are pulling up into somebody's side yard when trekking toward the back of the house, but there is a separate standalone Tasting Room that makes the initial awkwardness (exemplified by when GoGo read my mind and quietly squeaked out, "Is someone gonna come out the back door of the house with a shotgun?!?") all worth while exploring. TASTING They have an excellent tasting set-up that is only $5. So if you're there for wine, have at it. I was NOT. On the other hand, I had heard about their brand of "Bad Apple Cider", so I had to give it a whirl and even bought a couple of bottles http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/devitt-winery-jacksonville?select=QBNtqazghR0WmUtuODVCuQ The funny thing is it really IS a pretty BAD apple cider, but kinda in a GOOD way: it's very very tart, very dry, hardly any sugars in it, so if you are looking for a tastebud "Reset", take a swig of this dry liquid and you're set to experience new tastes from a clean slate. FLYING PIGGIES! If for anything else, you need to stop by just to see the eclectic collection of "Flying Pigs!" Mobiles, sculptures, figurines - it's really quite hiLARious! THE LOWDOWN Devitt is the kind of tucked, out of way establishment that just puts a smile on your face because it's a fun, playful left turn in an otherwise busy day (of bigger winery snobberies). :D

Nice but not the best as far as wines go. But still worth stopping while in wine country.

Their wines are some of the best affordable options in the Rogue Valley, offering real quality without the big price tag. The food menu is surprisingly extensive for a winery, far more than simple snacks. The wood-fired pizzas are a standout, whether you go personal size or shareable family style. Families will love this spot. It's genuinely kid-friendly with plenty to keep little ones entertained: animals, an on-site ice cream parlor, and if you're lucky, you may even catch a magic show. Located close to town and as one of the Jacksonville Trolley stops, Rellik Winery has become one of our favorite go-to hangout spots for friends and family. I really enjoyed the variety and flavors. Along with the tasting, I ordered a grilled cheese made with homemade bread and a delicious tomato soup that complemented the sandwich perfectly. You order your food at the counter, and the woman who helped me was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, and great at making recommendations. The service overall was excellent, and everyone I interacted with was welcoming. The tasting room offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor fire pits were a nice touch. In addition, they have animals in the back area that guests can visit and observe, which adds a fun and unique element to the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Rellik Winery and would definitely visit again.
