I'm a first time pet parent and this was my cat's first vet visit with me to get her spayed. The staff were so friendly and just so nice! I knew that they cared for the pets that come in here because my cat showed no sign of any trauma at all (I've heard many friends and family tell me their pets bad experiences from other places that caused them to have trauma). UPDATE: We took our Aussie back there because she had redness in her ears and we trusted Valley View with her care... HUGE MISTAKE! The vet that came into the room was VERY condescending to us, longer patience with our fur baby because she wouldn't sit still (she doesn't know you lady... AND YOU WERE MEAN TO HER)! When my husband and I finally got her to sit still, the vet said she had a minor allergic reaction to something and put a solution in her ears to clean them. She was so rough with her. My husband and I were both disgusted by her treatment of us and our dog; in all honesty, I almost gave her a stern tongue lashing for the abhorrent treatment, but I chose the high road and walked away. Needless to say, her ear never got better and we ended up taking her to another vet who diagnosed her with an ear infection and gave her drops and antibiotics. Healed up in three days! Horrible service. They have definitely changed their customer service. My cat is a little spicy, but had been a patient for many years. Had an appointment and had to wait anyway. They kept telling me they were short-staffed, I saw so many employees in the office, but not very many pets in the lobby. Took my cat in to have her claws clipped, being as spicy as she is, she does better with me in the room to keep her calm. The tech started clipping her nails and then walked out of the room before completing the service, but didn't say a word to me. I sat there for at least 10 minutes, and then I had to pop my head out of the room to even find someone to finish helping me. It was so bizarre. The officer manager told me they wouldn't charge me for the service due to the bad experience, but the receptionist charged me anyway. Then they told me they wouldn't be able to help my cat anymore. My head is still spinning from the whole experience. I definitely will not ever refer anyone to this office. Their service has gotten worse since building their new office. read more

Frenchie owners should avoid. Dr. Rene Brewer is just a rude person. She really shouldn't talk to customers. Every single time we bring our French bulldog in she is judgmental and condescending. Every time. Doesn't matter what it's for, she'll let me know that she really doesn't like French or English bulldogs. I really get the feeling that she would rather we just put him down. He doesn't have health issues. He doesn't even have reoccurring problems. We only bring him in for issues that ANY OTHER DOG could have. Like getting him fixed, getting a foxtail in his eye or nose or just a checkup because he's getting older. All things that I have taken a hound dog or lab to the vet for. But my husband and I always leave pissed off after her obligatory lecture on why we shouldn't have him. I would never take him in for anything major because she's made it clear she doesn't even like the fact that he exists. On a good note all the other staff members I've encountered seem to actually love animals. read more

My dearest hubs took our very sick senior chihuahua in with the expectations of putting him down. Dr Rene was very kind and supportive, however, I wasn't quite ready for that loss so she prescribed antibiotics and some pain meds out of thoughtfulness for me. With just the first dose of the antibiotics, our little Cohen was back to his old bossy self! It was a miracle!! And he only needed one dose of the pain meds. DONT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. I had a scheduled visit for my English Bulldog 10/19/23 and had such a horrible and humiliating experience. I should've listened to the reviews before I came. If you have a bulldog or any "squished nosed" pet, avoid this vet at all costs. She won't even care to look at your pet, she walked into the room after making us wait 30 min and immediately started lecturing me about bulldogs and problems they have. As if I don't know anything about my own pet. She did her best to make me feel as bad as possible, didn't ask me a thing about him and his history (he's had eye surgery). Didn't bother to check his eye out (the reason we were there) and continued on about his folds and skin and a million other problems he doesn't have just to shame me for being a bulldog owner. After about 20 minutes of passive aggressive lectures I straight up asked her "do you have a problem with bulldog owners?" where she answered with a blunt "yes I do." Someone who allows their own personal feelings to get in the way of professionalism should not under any circumstances be a vet, or any healthcare provider at that. Her job, and only job, is to help the pet. And she refused to do that after all the bs judgement she put me through! I will add a small video clip if it allows me to, of the end of the first conversation we had, where she was meant to leave the room and come back with a diagnosis and prescription. When she came back, she had NO diagnosis, NO prescription. She had an ARTICLE about bulldogs!!! Lmaooo I can't make this up. (An article that I already had which is odd since I'm sooooo uneducated about bulldogs). For someone who cares so much about the breed you'd think she'd do her best to help him but no, her only concern was shaming ME. Terrible vet but more importantly, terrible human being. read more

They also should put a sign that says "appointments only" they literally won't even look at your pet if you have no appointment or answer any concerning questions to try and comfort you. I have a rescue and currently have 5 dogs. I have been looking for a regular vet and have definitely found one. Dr. Brewer and her staff are amazing. She took the time to get to know my dog before examining her. She was patient, calm and so loving toward my dog who isn't used to being around people. My pups get great care at Valley View. The only thing is that when I had her spayed, they tattooed her. No warning that is their practices at all. She is a tiny dog. And I detest this tattoo. My pup sleeps on the back constantly and the comments and questions are just dang irritating. Dr. B then got on the phone and for the first time, informed me that I was bringing our dog with seizures in too often. Why wasn't I told that on the last visit? dI trust her opinion. I was so excited to find a holistic vet an hour from me. I've been using a traditional vet since moving here. I visited for a new puppy wellness check and Dr. Brewer was pleasant enough but pretty nonchalant from the start to finish. She asked no questions about him including his name. She looked him over pulled at his limbs a bit. As she looked at his face she asked if he could see. I was puzzled. Could she not determine that herself? I said I think so he seems to follow a toy to chase. She never asked what he eats or anything about his appetite. All questions I've had with every vet I've ever visited. When I mentioned I needed his booster of parvo distemper in a couple of weeks she said oh we aren't doing shots today? I was flabbergasted she thought she was going to inject him since she never asked if he had had the first set of shots? Terrible! She said she only does the all in one series so I mentioned I follow Dr. Dodd vaccination schedule. She nodded and said she knew of Dr. Dodd and that she recommends other shots too. I said no I just read her information again to refresh since I'd not had a puppy in 12 years. It's always been distemper parvo only and now she doesn't even always recommend the third. She said she would check and walked out to go to her computer. She came back in and said yeah you're right it's just the two. She said she could probably get those for me and to remind her by talking to the office manager on my way out. She then took my puppy and left the room. No explanation. She returned a few minutes later. I asked where they had gone and she said oh I was just showing him to the others since they don't see puppies that often. I've never had a vet do that it was odd and disconcerting. And disrespectful. She was so standoffish and seemed a bit arrogant but she wasn't a jerk. Just aloof. Like she couldn't t even be bothered to be a jerk. The office manager said to call back the next day to discuss the vaccinations so she could make sure they were ordered I went home and thought how sad I was that my Bay Area vet was so much more thorough and caring and knowledgeable and holistic. She does a very thorough examination of my dogs. But this was my only option for holistic in the Central Valley. Maybe it would be better next time. Maybe she was tired after a long week. But when I called the office I was told the manager was gone on medical leave and they didn't know when she would be back. They said call back the following week. When I did that the response was no. She's just not going to do the two shots. She doesn't believe in it. I had said i would buy the tray or case or whatever. She said I could bring them myself and i said but they are going to be shipped on ice them I need to make sure they are cold enough for the hour drive and I'm not a professional why can't I just have them shipped to you. She said no we don't do that. You can bring them. Then I heard someone talking in the background I guess to was the vet who told her no she just doesn't believe in that. But then she backtracked and said she will do the parvo only but not the distemper. At that point I thought I had no other option so I took the appointment thinking I will get the distemper from another vet. I did not know most vets are so sadly misinformed of the latest research on the efficacy of vaccinations they are shooting to dogs with. I called maybe 20 vets and nobody will do that. Everyone wants to shoot us dogs with flu and leptospirosis and adeno etc. all these things that are either unnecessary or don't even work. I encourage dog owners read up on Dr. Dodd's research on her website Hemopet. I did the distemper parvo only for both my other dogs 12 years ago then titers every three years after the first year. For the entirety of their lives they had good and excellent levels of antibodies. Excessive shots cause lots of problems it's sad that most vets do this. In the end I had to make an appointment with my Bay Area vet from before. I have to drive 3.5 hours to get my puppy vaccinated safely. There was also another vet I found in LA who does this so now I have two options either way, both 3.5 hours drive. I even had the office manager for Dr. Dodd's office trying to squeeze me in. She is also in Orange County so it would be a drive. Very disappointing experience with Dr. Brewer. I left a message canceling the appt and let them now how disappointed I am with their terrible service. read more

We cannot say enough good things about Dr. B and staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Dr B won't prescribe a multitude of medications like other vets if unnecessary and she's so reasonable on pricing. We have a dog with chronic stomach issues and she's amazing with helping us find a solution. We also recently had to let a dog go to the rainbow bridge and her and the staff were just incredible. We seriously couldn't have asked for more, especially in that situation. They were all so kind and had done everything we all could prior to help him. I could see how upset they all were that all our efforts didn't work. We got hugs from Dr B and many of the staff. They had some cake in the back and offered our pup a piece before helping him cross the rainbow bridge. A huge thank you to everyone at Valley View. The drive from Shaver is worth it so that our pups get outstanding care. read more

A lot of things wrong with the Vet in particular. I'll start off with they didnt warn me when they'll be doing the check up. First they say they're taking him to the back to just get his weight, then they come back saying the vet is already checking his heart. This was my first time here and they don't even want fo give a heads up that they'll be starting the check up like I'm not a worried dog parent who cant even see or be with their dog during a check up??? Then she refers to my puppy as a "smashed nose dog" can't even be professional enough to say the real term she had to call my dog an offensive name. Judgemental doesn't seem to like "smashed nose" breeds. Don't go here she is rude and unprofessional when talking to pet parents. Says his red eyes is normal for his breed and his eye color and to give him goggles. Yah let me just give my puppy goggles when his ONE eye are red even indoors. Ridiculous doesn't care. read more

Charlie, the yellow Labrador Retriever, was born in my living room about 9 years ago. My landlord, Jim Moen, fell in love with him and adopted him. Charlie and Jim spent a wonderful 8 years together here on the ranch. Every day, Jim and Charlie would walk down the bluff and around the ponds - about 2 miles - then back up to the house where Charlie would take a quick dip in the pool. Every evening, Charlie would let Jim know that it was time, yes, time for Jim and Charlie to sit together on the bluff, just spending time watching the sun's final set for the day and the lights come on across the river on the Fresno Bluff. A very special time for a man and his dog each evening, just to sit quietly and enjoy each other's company. A year and a half ago, Jim's health had failed to the point that he was moved to memory care at one of the best local senior residences in Fresno. At that time, Charlie came back here to me, his "birth momma" for me to foster until his final days. There were several occasions when Jim was able to return to the ranch for a visit. Charlie was always elated when he saw Jim. Charlie would bound toward Jim, with his whole body and tail wagging from side to side. Not once did Charlie ever cause Jim to lose his footing or to fall. Jim told me on several occasions that his last wish was to be able to outlive Charlie. He was concerned that Charlie would grieve horribly for Jim. About two months ago, Jim fell at his place of residence and broke his hip in two places. Jim left this world about 36 hours later, at a ripe age of 94 years. A life lived well and he always adored his dogs. It became evident to me just a short time ago that Charlie was losing weight and beginning to fail. Just a week ago, Charlie started refusing to eat unless it was boiled chicken. He also developed other complications. Today, we went to Valley View Veterinary for a "quality of life" check-up - which I pretty much what the final outcome would be. We weighed him and compared it to his weight just two months ago at his last visit. He had lost 20 pounds in that short time. I had felt this last week that Charlie was trying to say, "I'm tired of waiting for Jim, can't I join him now?" Yes, that was the outcome. Dr. Brewer was marvelous (as always), loving and caring with both Charlie and me. As Charlie slipped off to join Jim for more walks and evenings of solitude side by side with his beloved master, Dr. Brewer handed Charlie's leash and collar to me, and hugged me as I walked crying from the examining room. My heart breaks, as Charlie has left the ranch, following the footsteps of his beloved master, Jim Moen. Rest easy Charlie, enjoy a glorious eternity of joyful days and evenings with your dear master Jim. A word of appreciation and recommendation for Valley View Veterinarian on old Hwy 41 just north of Children's Hospital. They had placed the lovely candle and message (shown in the photo) on their counter out of respect for me and my loss. Valley View is a very loving and compassionate animal hospital. I brought my fur babies here because it's close to home. First visit was ok. Staff was ok. Doctor said my 4 month old puppy was "bad." (Imagine a real doctor saying that about a toddler. . .) But Whatever, blew it off. Both dogs threw up after this visit. Second visit, the receptionist was very nice, helpful, cheerful, humble. I explained to the slender, lanky, older lady with the attitude (mentioned in previous reviews) that I wanted to stay close to my pup. She must've just taken a shit because she had this attitude like she was proud of her stink and her stink was better than everyone else's. She said "no" I couldn't stay close to my pup, took him to the back and had a good laugh with the girls back there. I agree with the previous reviews, something about her is off. Called Mon. to get appointment for my dogs shots. Made appt for Wed. Morning. Drove down from Coarsegold. Saff was wonderful. 2 people there with their dogs leaving. Saff came to my car picked up my dog, took him in and he was back in my arms in less than 5 min. Wonderful experience. I plan to use them for future needs. I was referred to Dr. Brewer from Adobe mobile vet because I could not get an appointment within 2 mos for our regular vet. I was so impressed that they got us in within a week, and Dr. Brewer was patient, kind and compassionate as she explained all of our options. We agreed to run the necessary labs to determine the best and we were very impressed that not only were we provided all the information we needed, but the costs. All of the staff were compassionate, kind, and caring and assisted us through a difficult time when it was decided it was time to let go of our beloved cat due to the severity of her illness and her age. Dr. Rene Brewer and her staff exceeded my expectations greatly. I took my senior poodle, Reecee, in for a senior dog check-up. Reecee is typically not a fan of any stranger. In fact, she avoids them like the plague. When we were walking up to the front doors one of the nurses was also walking up and Reecee actually ran up to her and jumped on her leg to be picked up. I was dumbfounded. I told the nurse that Reecee doesn't like strangers usually and she smiled sweetly and said, "Well, that's why I chose this career!" And I instantly knew this was THE right place. Dr. Brewer is a patient, gentle, extremely kind person. While I was explaining Reecee's health Dr. Brewer listened with her heart and had compassionate eye contact that comforted me and made me feel heard. She truly has a special connection to animals. She picked up Reecee and interacted with her to gage her health. She answered all of my questions in depth and I left the appointment feeling 100% more knowledgable on how to care for my senior friend. Dr. Brewer specializes in holistic as well as Western medicine and knows the best practices for taking care of animals. I highly recommend her to anyone, ANYONE who has a pet. This is by far the best veterinary that I have ever been to. I took my cat Gypsy in with two abscess, they had to put her under general anesthesia to do the surgery and put drains in. I was afraid I was going to owe them my arm and my leg, but I was pleasently suprised, their prices are very reasonable and they even knew of a good way to put one of those cones on my cat so she wouldn't get it off. I will definitely recommend them to my family and friends. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Brewer is very knowledgeable. read more

I was satisfied until the vet tech with the short brown hair gave me a bad vibe!!First off, vet tech with the short brown hair just really bothered me with her presence. i went in to get one of my dogs checked then after we were done went to reception so i could pay my visit, waiting on the receptionist who was on the phone. Then this vet tech with the short brown hair, & skinny comes up to me; not even a smile and tells me to pay her. I was like oh, ok. I felt like she thought i wasnt going to pay or something but her demeanor i did not like. I mean, come up to me and ask me for payment with a SMILE! Dont come at me with a betchy look. Then i make an appointment for my dog again. So i read the sign and I thought i read it right but i didnt. It was covid-19 instructions. I went in and obviously i had to stay out. Then the vet tech with the short hair came out to clean handles on door sure it was my mistake but do you have to give me a the "look" like i did something?? I think she either needs time out or another job. I thought the Doctor was great! Amazing! . Only doctor avail & Sadly visit was $45 and now its went up to $50 per office visit because shes the only doctor. read more
