I just called to add my two new pets to my file and was told that I'm no longer a client . They said because I haven't been there in four years,which isn't true I went in for my old gals euthanasia in 2023 and they said that doesn't count that they will put down anyone's pet that was hurtful . I tried taking my cat there last year and was told that they were too booked so I took her to the emergency vet in Fresno, apparently that doesn't count either. I said so I've been a long time client and am being punished for having healthy pets? And they said yes and they aren't accepting new clients. I've been a client for over 17-18 years. I understand being understaffed and having to wait for routine visits, but to fire a loyal client is just bad business and really just heartless. If this is the way they treat loyal customers then good riddance. I wouldn't recommend bringing your pets here if that's how they are going to treat their customers. read more

We've taken our dogs to MVC for over 12 years. During those years they have been nothing short of wonderful. Our oldest dog required special accommodations and attention due to seizures. The doctors and staff went out of their way to make our visits productive and safe for him. We recently had to make the dreadful decision to say goodbye to our favorite good boy. The staff at MVC let us concentrate on saying goodbye and not worry so much about the process. Sadly my pup had passed away at home and I did not know what to do so I called this vet center and they where helpful and kind in such a hard time for me and my family. I decided to do cremation and a stone of her paw print. When I arrived the staff was very kind and understanding, they took care of everything and the pricing for cremation was reasonable. When I received my pups ashes it was very well packaged. The name on her stone paw print was spelled wrong but when I called all I had to do was take it back in and they are fixing it. read more

This review is a long time coming. On October 23rd, 2019, Dr Dougherty helped me lay my precious Felicia to rest. In August she had been unfortunately diagnosed with lymphoma by Waterhouse in Fresno. She had just had her 5th birthday. I couldn't afford treatment (college student and new mom) and their advice was to make her comfortable and love her. They gave her 6-8 weeks. 6 weeks to the day, Dr D let me hold my baby and say goodbye. The staff was kind and gracious. No one made me feel uncomfortable or weak for sobbing my eyes out. They went the extra mile and stamped her wonderful peets in rainbow paint. They got the best charcoal impressions that I was able to get tattooed. Incredible. I called in to schedule an appointment for my puppy and they mentioned being short staffed which lets me understand their appointment availability, but that is no reason to be rude and saying that unless my dog has a extreme reason to be examined they can not schedule an appointment, I told them my unvaccinated puppy was around another dog who actually ended up passing a way from parvo and all they had to say was "she should be fine I wouldn't worry about it"... are you serious. Terrible. Brought my puppy here thinking all would be okay - there was miscommunication and lack in thoughtful care since the start. However, given that I purchased a puppy plan, I figured I'd use it before going somewhere else. Bad idea. Wait times are terrible, even with an appointment, and service has not been the best. I would highly recommend doing your research before showing up to this clueless clinic that gives out expired medication (which they claim was mislabeled). I'm a beagle owner and if you know the breed you know ear infections are common due to the lack of airflow their ears receive unfortunately. Well my mom is watching my dog while we move possibly overseas to Japan and they upcharged for a test that was unnecessary basically to see what type of infection she has. We are from Southern California and have been to multiple vets because of moving a lot from being in the military and they have never just ran test for her ears. They just give us the medicine and we take care of it at home. Well this vet did it because my mom didn't know any better and came back with the results and did absolutely nothing different than her previous vet visits. Then the doctor tries telling me that we need to prevent her ear infections and that she shouldn't be getting them as much as she does which is a huge red flag for me because I can even Google why beagles get ear infections and it says what I stated above. Granted she's probably never had a beagle patient before but it's the lack of communication and understanding that did it for me. read more

Don't bring ur pet here!!!! We brought our beloved dog to 6 appointments!!!! The only time they saw anything that was wrong was when we specifically asked them what to xray.. they eagerly xrayed him because they knew of the price tag. Then they said he had IVDD after that my dogs legs were causing a problem so we again had to specifically ask that they xray his legs....u pay a vet a stupid amount of money so they can help ur pet but now my pet is dead. All of these appointments happened within a month and a half...my dog actually had bone cancer which we found out 6 days before he was dead....they also refused any dog PAIN KILLERS they said gabapentin and carprofen were the strongest shit they could give.....i hope all of them only have access to carprofen and gabapentin when they are on their death beds. FUCK THESE CLOWNS THEY HAVE NO RIGJT MAKING LIFE CHOICES FOR PETS. . read more

We were able to get our dog in as a new patient for an emergency the same day. With little to no wait, each visit we were seen quickly, even with our initial new patient visit. You can tell that Dr. Doughtry really cares about the pets that she treats. She answered all our questions and she really helped us with our senior pet. They were very good at suggesting alternative options to save money if we needed to. I wish I had learned about this place sooner. Not sure what this place is deal is. I started goin there in 2014 I believe, this was my spot. Apparently there have been some owner changes since then. Well anyways this place stringed me along a few visit and ultimately did nothing for my dog this last two months. Thought my male dog was female for the first three visits. Vet would not relax off the fact that my dog is a french bulldog and how expensive they are. There staff is on some fake friendly bs except one rep there on the left, u can just feel the fakeness. I took my dog to a place in Fresno as a walk-in and the did the procedure the same day. Same procedure they put off for two months, but of course pay for each visit in between. I wrote a review last month giving this business a one star but after thinking about it I decided to remove my review. My reason for this removal was due to not wanting to hurt anybody's business. The owner of this business responded to my review without any resolve, once again putting all the blame on me as the client. The other day I received a packet in the mail with all my veterinarian records and a nasty note saying they fired me as a client. So now I will post another review and this time I will not remove it. First, I am a professional breeder of Oriental shorthair cats and have been doing this for almost 30 years. I have a very good reputation and have placed many cats in wonderful homes over the years without incident or problems. I have been going to this vet clinic since I moved to the area In 2018. Upon being their new client I explain to the owner, Dr. Dougherty that I was a breeder, my experience and the fact I only had a couple litters a year with a total of four cats. I wanted to assure her that I was not a backyard breeder pumping out kittens for profit, that I love the breed and this is my passion. In fact she had interest in getting a kitten from me in the future. She has taken care of my cats as far as spay/neuter, dentals and minor issues. As I stated in my first review the clinic has wonderful vets that are very knowledgeable in the practice. However the way the owners and staff treat their clients is atrocious. If my business practice was like theirs, I wouldn't have any clients. Dr Dougherty gave me a quote for spaying and neutering my cats/kittens. Suddenly at the first of the year the price almost doubled but I never said anything about that knowing our economy was not in the greatest shape. On May 20 I had scheduled an appointment for a two-year-old to be spayed. When I brought her in there was confusion at check-in regarding the pricing. It was decided that the staff would either talk to Dr. Dougherty or she would call me. She did call me shortly after I returned home. She told me that I was rude to her staff and that she didn't need business from people like me. In no way was I rude to anyone but I'm sure both staff and I were very frustrated over the procedure and the cost. She was not concerned about my side of the story but still I apologized if the staff felt I was rude. During this conversation she stated that the prices she quoted me were between her and me. Her staff had no knowledge of what my special prices might be. This is the reason for the frustration. When you don't communicate with your employees then it makes it difficult for the clients and staff. Reading the reviews regarding this clinic, all of the negative reviews have been issues with the staff. If Dr. Dougherty feels it's necessary to stand solely behind her staff and has no trust in what her clients have to say then I'm quite sure she won't be in business long. She didn't need to fire me as a client because after the way she talked to me I would have never been back. I guess it made her feel high and mighty to say she fired me. Well the jokes on her because I've referred many people to her clinic and now they will no longer go back to her. Businesses destroy themselves because they have no idea of how to handle people. Dr. Dougherty is very good at practicing cancel culture apparently not realizing how this will affect her business. If you take your pet to her they may get good care and it will be pricey but make sure you always smile at her staff and tell them how wonderful they are or you will be canceled also. Read the reviews. I'm not the only one they canceled. Read their snarky and condescending replies to bad reviews. What business owner acts this way??? Over the last three years I am not aware of any issues with the staff but apparently on May 20th Adelle , who I believe to be the office manager, decided I was rude and her feelings were hurt. I have no idea what she told Dr Dougherty but it must have been epic for the doctor to call me and be so rude. When I did go in that afternoon to pick up my cat, Adelle saw me come through the door and turned her back on me forcing me to go to the other counter. Please tell me again who was rude? This staff member either needs to be reprimanded or fired!! I've had my say so just remember as a paying client (and I've spent thousands) you will not be important or respected. read more

I cannot believe the unprofessionalism of this office. I called 3 days prior to my follow up appointment to ask if there was going to be a charge because if so I would have just rescheduled for a few days out when I get paid. I was told, "No, there is no charge for a follow up". So naturally I kept the appointment. I was seen 40 mins after my appointment. As I'm leaving I'm told I owe them $45. As I explained my frustration the manager she doesn't try to ease the situation she replied to me, " are you finished?" That's all she had to say to me!!! I did not yell I did not cuss at anyone. Apparently she the MANAGER is the one who scheduled the appointment wrong. I have the call recorded of the girl telling me there was no charge. Then I am contacted by the owner who seemed to think she could be a bully as soon as I answered the phone. I did nothing wrong to these people. This is a poorly ran business that charges way more than most other vets. read more

My husky twisted his ankle running full blast and screamed in agony, I was really freaked out and called madera veterinary center, even though they aren't necessarily a place for emergencies they got my dog in right away and took care of him. This is a wonderful hospital for our pets. We have come here for many years now after we had to put a dog down and the other vet showed us no compassion. Dr. D came out to our house and was so good. We do not take our pets anywhere else unless we have to because they are closed. We have several animals, one that needs prescription medicine. They are so good about trying to see every pet they can. Adele, the office manager is amazing. We have seen every doctor they have Dr. Franz, Dr. Carr, Dr. D and they are all awesomely wonderful doctors. When my 20 year old cat had to be put down they were there for us as well. When my daughter wanted to job shadow before Covid she was allowed to and was treated so kindly. The list of good things goes on and on. We will never go anywhere else. 10 stars if I could!! Let's just get this out of the way, it is pricey. My gosh, it is very pricey compared to the other Madera vet I've been to. However, despite my limited budget it was worth it. I went in with my two kitties for different issues they had. Everyone was really attentive and did a through exam. They asked a lot of questions and really encouraged us to do the same. Dr. Carr was so great. My favorite part was that unlike Madera Animal Hospital the Dr. Discussed the treatment with me as well as prices and suggested alternatives to Help cut the cost. And she didn't push unnecessary things to me like other vets do. Will go back again. read more

I work at 2 different pet hospitals in Clovis and Fresno. I had a cat in respiratory distress. My first reaction was to get him in asap or he would have died on my way to fresno. Unfortunately during my panic mode, I did not call them ahead of time like I should have.
