We found a kitten outside of Colton's Social House and decided to keep her! Which means a trip to Armstrong's is happening. We already knew the kitten needed a flea treatment, but after the vet inspected her he also noticed she had worms. Armstrong Pet Hospital offers a kitten vaccination and checkup plan; for $350 you get every vaccination required, two flea treatments, they check for worms, leukemia, and your third visit is free. You can also space out the payments or, if you have it, they take pet insurance. This kept the new kitten health-process simple. The staff here is very thoughtful when it comes to putting down pets. They have a candle station with a sign that states something like, "if this candle is lit, a furry friend is crossing the rainbow bridge." We all know what it's like to lose a pet, so this small gesture of peace is very sweet. This is the same pet hospital that we bring our older cat, which made this visit easy and fast. They do take walk-ins, but I recommend making an appointment before just showing up. It will reduce your time waiting in the lobby.

Missed Diagnosis and Lack of Compassionate Follow-Through As a devoted pet owner who has been bringing our pets to Armstrong Pet Hospital for years, I always chose this clinic because I trusted them to provide thorough care and put our animals' health first. Unfortunately, my recent experience with our cat, Rocket, has been deeply disappointing and has shaken my confidence in their attention to detail and customer care. About a week and a half ago, we brought our beloved cat, Rocket, in for a check-up because he was scooting on the carpet. My husband also mentioned he was limping on his right leg. The vet gave a very quick look and said he seemed fine--no further exam or concern was raised. A few days later, the limping continued. I called to ask about pain relief, but was told he needed another in-person visit and another office fee, even though we'd just been there. I asked for a callback to discuss options. I never received one. Then an abscess appeared on the same leg. Today's appointment confirmed Rocket needs surgery to treat it, costing nearly $1,000. When I asked if this could have been caught earlier with a more thorough exam, the vet acknowledged (indirectly) that it likely could have been. We arrived 10 minutes late for today's appointment and waited 55 minutes before being seen for only about 5 minutes. I expressed my concern about the missed opportunity for early detection and the significant cost, and a staff member assured me a manager would review and possibly adjust the bill. When I picked Rocket up, the bill was reduced by only $56 (for the office visit), bringing the total to $900. No other adjustment was made, and there were no notes in the system about my concerns. The manager had left early and never followed up. A $56 discount felt insulting after the missed diagnosis, the lack of follow-through, and the emotional and financial strain of an unexpected $900 surgery bill. Pet owners deserve a clinic that listens, takes responsibility when something is overlooked, and offers meaningful accountability--especially when it means our pets suffer. I felt completely unheard and undervalued as someone who cares deeply about my cat's well-being. If you're looking for a trustworthy vet who prioritizes compassionate, thorough care and clear communication, I recommend looking elsewhere. Your pet deserves better.

Armstrong Pet Hospital got us in immediately when we called! Our normal vet could not see us and our pup was very sick. Dr. Raj was efficient and knowledgeable. We were very very pleased with the service, compassion, and care that the team gave our sweet Louie boy this evening! Our normal vet may have just lost a patient!

I accidentally cut her nails too short. Needless to say I don't cut her nails anymore. I take her to a groomer!

Quick and efficient! They really do a nice job of fitting you in if you have an issue with your pet. The facility is clean and they really do care.

Ask the Community - Armstrong Pet Hospital

I would like to know if they also help with small pets, specifically hamsters and guinea pigs?

Hi we do not see those pets. We recommend calling Waterhouse Animal or San Joaquin Hospital for care of them

Do you offer dematting services (cats)?

    Service for Ear clipping?

We do not offer Ear Cropping. We do recommend you call Elm Veterinary Hospital in Fresno for questions regarding this service.

What I appreciate most is that I have always felt like they genuinely care about her quality of life and about us as her family. They have taken the time to answer my many questions, explain what is happening, discuss realistic options, and help us figure out how to care for her at home. I have never felt rushed, dismissed, or judged for asking questions or wanting to understand every option available to us. During a stressful and emotional time, their team has helped make things feel much more manageable. I especially appreciate the honesty and compassion they have shown when discussing her condition. They have celebrated the good signs with us while still being realistic about her health, which means more than they probably realize. Poopoo is incredibly important to our family, and knowing that she is being cared for by people who treat her with kindness and dignity gives us so much peace of mind. Thank you to everyone at Riverpark Pet Hospital for taking such wonderful care of our girl and for being so patient with her very worried humans. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly cares about their patients.

I kept saying hello, hello for awhile, but realized they disconnected the call. We went to Cedar Veterinary instead and took her and paid for her cremation. Fast forward a week and she's crying and struggling to go to the bathroom. We thought constipation. After a whole night of pain we called VAC and they said they had no appointments for follow up, it wasn't the antibiotics and to go to urgent care. We ended up at a different vet who first thing palpated her bladder and felt a mass. Then took a simple xray which showed 3 large bladder stones, one of which was blocking her from going pee. I'm no Dr, but wouldn't the original ultrasound from VAC show this? Wasn't that the point of the ultrasound? Even the 2nd vet was baffled that they didn't detect 3 cheese ball sized bladder stones via ultrasound, which I hear provides more detailed information than an X-ray. Anyway, I find that surprisingly incompetent. And even if they couldn't provide the necessary treatment (surgery), I would assume they would have spotted something so obvious and offered a treatment plan. Maybe they didn't even do the ultrasound? But they certainly billed for it. Anyway, boo on you VAC. Don't go here, they messed up big time.

We went to Alta Animal Hospital because they could fit us in on the day we called. We ended up waiting for over an hour and a half past our "appointment" in their cramped waiting area before they even called on us, then there was a lot of waiting in the exam room. When the doctor finally came in, he was pleasant. Then he said someone would be in to "present" the treatment plan and bill. Then the tech comes back in after a while and looks at me and my wife and says, "ok, who will I be *presenting* the bill to?" You would be absolutely correct if by now you are assuming they were fully intending to rip us off. For 6mo of flea medication (Simparica Trio), they charged $300. (Later on, I researched online and it should've probably been $200-$225). They also had several other medications for which they no doubt also completely overcharged us. Total bill was $1200 (!!). Front desk staff (seemed like doctor's wife or family member) was very curt in taking our payment as we left. Now, the Simparica Trio did take care of his fleas, and pretty quickly. However, they wanted us to come back for a follow-up appointment. When we arrived for that they charged us *another exam fee* and wanted us to pay another $500 for additional medications to continue to treat his skin conditions. We paid the exam fee and left. Today we took the dog to another vet for his worsening skin issues. This vet has a much bigger and nicer waiting room, did not make us wait an inordinate amount of time, had a friendlier staff, and was overall a much better experience. For medications (that I think will work this time!) and the entire visit, the bill was $365. Including a no-cost followup visit in a few weeks. It made me think back to the experience with Alta, and realize what an incredible ripoff it was all the way around.
