The clinic is clean, spacious, and provides fast, efficient care. I recommend calling ahead for an appointment. They also do accept walk-ins with a reasonable wait time. When our 14-year-old cat, Khloe, suddenly became lethargic and not herself, we were very concerned. Our regular veterinarian was unavailable until the next day, and given her age, we didn't feel comfortable waiting. Armstrong Animal Hospital was able to get us in within about three hours, which we truly appreciated. Because Khloe is a senior cat, the doctor recommended being thorough. They performed a full exam, bloodwork, X-rays, and a urinalysis to rule out anything serious. All of her results came back normal, which was incredibly reassuring. Dr. Sunamar Deol took the time to explain the results clearly and walk us through what they meant, rather than just listing numbers. Dr. Deol explained that they would treat the situation conservatively as an upset stomach and nausea, and prescribed exactly what Khloe needed without over-treating. We felt listened to, informed, and supported throughout the visit. Nothing felt rushed or dismissive, and the plan made sense based on her symptoms and test results. One week later, Khloe is completely back to her normal self -- eating and drinking well, sleeping with us again, and showing her full personality. So many one star reasons, where do I begin.... I am extremely disappointed with the level of communication and follow through from this office regarding my dog Penny's care. Over a week ago, we were told a surgical quote would be sent. Consider that the initial exam was before this. After requesting it three separate times after the day we were expecting it to arrive, we finally received a quote referencing the wrong body part entirely. We were also promised a call from the office manager that never happened, as well as a call from the surgeon to discuss Penny's condition which also never happened. Since then, I have sent three emails and made multiple phone requests asking for: * Penny's X-rays * A written summary of her injuries and the acute nature of the injury * A referral to UC Davis so she can receive specialty care None of these requests were acknowledged or addressed in a timely manner. What has been most upsetting, however, is Penny's physical condition after her exam under anesthesia. Before the appointment, she was still able to put some pressure on her injured leg and stabilize herself on our floors. After the exam, she returned home physically worse and has not been able to do either since. As pet owners, watching that decline while receiving little communication or urgency from the office has been incredibly frustrating and concerning. We understand veterinary offices are busy, but when dealing with serious injuries, communication, accuracy, and timely coordination of care matter. We found a kitten outside of Colton's Social House and decided to keep her! Which means a trip to Armstrong's is happening. We already knew the kitten needed a flea treatment, but after the vet inspected her he also noticed she had worms. Armstrong Pet Hospital offers a kitten vaccination and checkup plan; for $350 you get every vaccination required, two flea treatments, they check for worms, leukemia, and your third visit is free. You can also space out the payments or, if you have it, they take pet insurance. This kept the new kitten health-process simple. The staff here is very thoughtful when it comes to putting down pets. They have a candle station with a sign that states something like, "if this candle is lit, a furry friend is crossing the rainbow bridge." We all know what it's like to lose a pet, so this small gesture of peace is very sweet. This is the same pet hospital that we bring our older cat, which made this visit easy and fast. They do take walk-ins, but I recommend making an appointment before just showing up. It will reduce your time waiting in the lobby. read more

Missed Diagnosis and Lack of Compassionate Follow-Through As a devoted pet owner who has been bringing our pets to Armstrong Pet Hospital for years, I always chose this clinic because I trusted them to provide thorough care and put our animals' health first. Unfortunately, my recent experience with our cat, Rocket, has been deeply disappointing and has shaken my confidence in their attention to detail and customer care. About a week and a half ago, we brought our beloved cat, Rocket, in for a check-up because he was scooting on the carpet. My husband also mentioned he was limping on his right leg. The vet gave a very quick look and said he seemed fine--no further exam or concern was raised. A few days later, the limping continued. I called to ask about pain relief, but was told he needed another in-person visit and another office fee, even though we'd just been there. I asked for a callback to discuss options. I never received one. Then an abscess appeared on the same leg. Today's appointment confirmed Rocket needs surgery to treat it, costing nearly $1,000. When I asked if this could have been caught earlier with a more thorough exam, the vet acknowledged (indirectly) that it likely could have been. We arrived 10 minutes late for today's appointment and waited 55 minutes before being seen for only about 5 minutes. I expressed my concern about the missed opportunity for early detection and the significant cost, and a staff member assured me a manager would review and possibly adjust the bill. When I picked Rocket up, the bill was reduced by only $56 (for the office visit), bringing the total to $900. No other adjustment was made, and there were no notes in the system about my concerns. The manager had left early and never followed up. A $56 discount felt insulting after the missed diagnosis, the lack of follow-through, and the emotional and financial strain of an unexpected $900 surgery bill. Pet owners deserve a clinic that listens, takes responsibility when something is overlooked, and offers meaningful accountability--especially when it means our pets suffer. I felt completely unheard and undervalued as someone who cares deeply about my cat's well-being. We brought our recently adopted family dog to Armstrong for a check up. We were looking for some help on how to care for the new dog, and to make sure she was in generally good health. Overall experience is that they were simply trying to upsell us to do tests adding up to hundreds of dollars. For the visit fee, the vet took the dog's temp, but that was about it. After leaving, we ended up finding out through the help of a friend that the dog had a pretty rough ear infection. The vet never even checked the ears. There was an incident following a procedure with my cat Rocket that left me feeling upset and worried. However, the way the team handled it afterward truly impressed me and restored my confidence in them. They called personally to apologize, took full responsibility without excuses, and provided a very generous credit on our account. When Rocket unfortunately pulled out some of his stitches and needed urgent aftercare (including sedation and staples), they took excellent care of him and didn't charge us at all for that visit. The doctor even came out, shook our hands, and sincerely expressed how sorry they were. It really meant a lot--their accountability, compassion, and professionalism turned a difficult situation around completely. Tried this place after a few recommended it. BAD CHOICE. Had an appointment at 2:15 pm, got there early with our sick dog and ended up waiting until 2:40 to finally get called back. Vet didn't come in the room until 3 pm and told us they'd only give our dog a shot and run a blood test. After waiting in the waiting room for almost 2-hours the doctor called us back and told us that we had to wait to see how our dog reacted. They didn't tell us anything so we were just waiting while we saw pets come and go. Front desk staff didn't tell us anything after I came up and asked multiple times. It's like no one knows what's going on. We decided to go to another vet a couple days after coming here and we needed the records sent to us from our previous visit. My wife called and requested them at 9 am and they didn't send until after 2 more calls/requests and after I demanded them before our other appointment. They kept saying "we'll send them as soon as possible" but never did anything. This place is terrible and is so negligent. I never want to bring any of our pets here again. read more

We have taken all of our pets here for years. Last week, our small dog (16 years old) decided it was time to go. Armstrong stayed open later so that we had time to come in and let him go peacefully and pain free. They talked us through each step and helped us make decisions. Office staff has been completely disorganized each time we visited. The managerial staff had a severe lack of care for people. When I couldn't afford the care for my cat they recommended I put my cat down. I left the building after begging for them to save my cat and offered to make payments for the services. The manager denied our request twice. Last minute, I was able to get Care Credit for the services. The Vet was very nice but everyone above and under him were terrible. After three days, we picked up our overly drugged and severely traumatized cat. His neck and leg were extremely loose and jiggly, most likely filled with IV fluids that weren't properly administered into his vein. We will never go back. read more

We've been coming here for multiple years and have spent many a thousands of dollars. The care has been steadily declining over those years. To the point where it came to a head with our 8 year old American Bulldog. He's had skin cancer for a few years (slow growth masses) that have to be operated on every 1-2 years (Armstrong helped diagnose and does the operations on them). We came to Armstrong for a growth that appeared on his wrist, an appointment in which it was overlooked and they focused on his skin cancer. They recommended they remove it (skin cancer) immediately. Taking their advice we did, still concerned about his wrist we insisted X-rays be done to his wrist along with the X-rays for his skin cancer before the procedure could commence. We got the results back that, it too, was potentially cancer (osteosarcoma). We went ahead and completed the surgery based on the recommendation from the vet for his skin cancer that left multiple wounds to attend to and eventually even some complications with the sutures not closing the wounds properly and even letting in air into his abdomen. All while the mass on his wrist continued to grow. We sought care from another vet after this experience.This type of cancer (osteosarcoma), left untreated could kill within the matter of 6 months. He will not reap the benefits of the skin cancer removal because the bone cancer is a way more aggressive form of cancer. This ended up just costing some of his remaining days (original surgery took place in July and we took out the remaining staples just now 09/19/24) recovering from the surgery, and our wallets. He only has a few more months with us and I'm saddened that hes had to spend a decent portion of that time recovering from a surgery he didn't need. read more

We almost lost our pet under the care of a Vet Dr. Deol. Our pet experienced unusual lethargy and loss control of their bladder one night. Although the staff and vets are friendly and kind, this Vet misdiagnosed my dog with IMHA, prescribing a treatment that weakened his immune system when his actual problem of anemia was internal bleeding, hemoabdomen. A big problem that surprises me is that our first visit, we took x rays which Dr. Deol says no noticeable findings, including in the abdomen. My pets anemia falsely responded to this treatment where the blood level did improve but also went back down. The vet recommended specialty vet at this point yet didn't think my pet's life was in critical shape, still prescribed the same treatment and was suggesting different immunosuppressant, which luckily I didn't buy through them, but through chewy so delayed taking this additional incorrect life threatening treatment. Unfortunately, nearly two weeks later, my pet was extremely weak and lethargic and Dr. Deol did an ultrasound and found possible splenic mass and free fluid. He urgently recommended we go to specialty Vet out of town since no where near town could provide the necessary resources - our pet also suffers from heart disease. He recommended a place with high platelet plasma since his blood metric for this was so low. Luckily we called this place, SAGE Dublin before leaving as they actually said they didn't have this plasma and couldn't help our pet. Luckily our pet is still alive but unfortunately he has gone through unnecessary suffering and likely has less time due to this misdiagnosis - we're also suffering quite financial burden, taking my pet to UC Davis. All could have been avoided had a simple ultrasound been suggested and done first, and better diagnosis and evaluation of the problem been. The X-Ray should have revealed the splenic mass as 24/7 pets X-ray revealed these masses through their board certified radiologists. I certainly put blame on myself as well for putting too much trust in the vet's diagnosis and skills. Again, the staff and vets are friendly and price is budget friendly but would suggest getting a second opinion and actually going to the best place (with most resources, usually UC Davis, SAGE or vet places with specialty care) to get your pet care if your pet is of older age, has any form of symptoms such as lethargy and weakness, which could have serious implications of overall health. read more

Took my dog to Banfield where she's set up to get her vaccinations when she had broke her toe and they wanted to sedate her just to get an x-ray and then possibly do surgery to fix it. They said I was looking at $550 before they even fix her toe because "she can be aggressive". I have a French Bulldog, extremely mellow and I didn't want to put her under for that. Seemed a bit extreme. Then decided to call Armstrong Pet Hospital, who we had use several years earlier when we had lived near them and they got her in the next day, x-rayed her and splinted her all in 1 hr and only paid $250 total. She was so good that she kept licking the staff while they were setting and splitting her. No sedation at all. Loved the staff and the experience. We took our 11 year old dog in last week. He was having a hard time walking, looked like he was in pain and he was heavily panting all day. All this happened in a matter of 24 hours. When they vet came in, he asked us what was wrong, then immediately went into a conversation about what they look for in quality of life for a pet. He told us it was likely cancer. My husband asked him if he thinks it's time to put him down and the vet said yes. The vet had not even touched my dog. He didn't offer to do any tests. He didn't check him out AT ALL. I asked for pain pills for a few days until I was ready to say good bye... my dog has been without pain pills for 4 days now and is back to himself. If I could give them negative stars I would. I took my dog there to get her ear infection treated. I told them a head of time that she would have to be sedated as she wouldn't let them touch her. At the appointment they told me that they wouldn't have enough time to treat her as it was too close to the end of the day. Then why did they schedule the appointment?!!!!! I can't get off work to bring her back the next day. I was forced to pay a $40 vet visit fee for nothing!!! They never even touched her and it is not like they even diagnosed her. She has chronic ear issues so I told them what it was and how it is usually treated. It was a waste of my time and money. I will never go here again!! This place is terrible. They used to be great with attention to detail and top-quality care but they have recently just become a money machine. Took 3 of my pets there for an annual checkup when they had obvious underlining problems (coughing and shortness of breath) and all they did was chalk it up to "allergies" without running any further tests or examining my pets further. Both of my pets with breathing problems actually had underlining heart issues that I found out about later when I finally switched my veterinarian. My young cat had a heart attack and died suddenly one morning 6 months after his checkup at Armstrong because of their lack of attention to the problems we came to them with. After switching my veteraniarain I found out that Armstrong Pet Hospital had noted that my pomeranian had a heart murmur but they did not address it. This caused my dog to get very sick this past summer and he developed more serious heart problems as a result of this underlining issue that was never addressed. He developed a blood disease and almost died until we took him to UC Davis vet hospital where he got excellent care and they adressed all of the problems we originally went to Armstrong Pet Hospital for. Overall, they work too quickly, have too many patients, and dont pay attention to your pet's overall health. They don't care and just want to get you in and out. If you want to save your pets do not take them here. read more

They took care of my dogs leg surgery, spayed my dog, performed a stenotic nose surgery, and pulled out teeth for my dogs without any issues! I do not recommend taking your pet if they are physically injured. My 1 year old cat injured his lower back while running a muck in our house, we have very smooth wood floors so he slid into something and hurt himself. The vet put him on the examining table and made him jump off because she wanted to see if he was "really injured" well HELLO I am the owner and brought him in because he is in fact injured. when he jumped off he landed on his side and injured himself more. After that mess and the X-rays were done. she asked me if I hit him because of the inflammation in his lower back. The fact that she was insinuating that I physically abused my cat was insulting and unprofessional. I already explained to her how hyper he is and how he slips and slides across my wood floors. I was offended by her in so many ways and the fact she made my injured cat jump off an examining table was still so mind boggling. My wife called our usual vet over a growth on our dog's left front leg, which we felt needed immediate attention. We were told it would be at least three weeks before our dog could be seen. We called Armstrong Pet Hospital ( it being a mile away ) and was seen within twelve hours. Dr. Sunamar Deol saw our dog, Boris and confirmed our suspicions and felt surgery was needed. Dr. Deol also felt it would be a good time to treat a large fat mass on Boris's shoulder.
