My husband and I went here again the other day. I once again had the hummus, which is absolutely fantastic! I also tried their root beer. Very spicy and smooth--loved it! My husband got the fish and chips. They were delicious! The fish fillets were seasoned and practically melted in your mouth. I have had fish and chips all over the world and these were certainly comparable. Fries were fresh and seasoned wonderfully as well. Sometimes great. Sometimes not. When they get really busy, the staff seems to get overwhelmed and panics. Most dishes are OK, and I think the pizza is probably the best in Murphy, and the beer is pretty good, but there's better in Andrews. Fish and chips are the best thing they serve. read more

Ordered 2 pizzas and a kid chicken fingers to-go. I added chicken to one of the pizzas. The bill was $52. I thought that was pricey so I thought I'd look at the receipt to see what cost so much. Wasn't given a receipt. I decided then that I wouldn't go back. The pizzas were just ok, have had better pizzas from the frozen aisle. And the burnt crust left my hands black. I've tried this brewery a few times and was disappointed each time. Nachos are stale and sub par. Beer is warm and amateur. We had a great family dinner here after a day if river rafting. The hummus was amazing! Our fairly of six devoured that and a pretzel with delicious beer cheese dip in no time flat. We also had the onion rings that were hot, crispy and a nice sized portion. My youngest had the kids chicken strips and fries and the chicks was obviously freshly cut breast meat. My son and I loved the Greek pizza, one daughter raves about her Greek salad and the other loved her shrimp and chips. My husband was very happy with his fish and chips. Everything was freshly made and piping hot. Service was attentive and friendly and the prices were great! We also loved the home brewed root beer and the beers we tried. Rated this place a 1 because we waited about an hour to receive our food which was a pretzel & some fries, then got the food and it wasn't even warm. Waitress only checked on us one time after 50 minutes to say that our food was coming out and she was sorry. I have worked in the serving industry for 8 years and this was just unacceptable. Where do I start......it wasn't busy when we walked in. A friend (visiting) and I sat at the bar and the greeting was a bit chilly. We started out asking to sample a couple of their beers and never once did she say hi, smile or any other pleasantries. We found a beer we liked and asked for that one. We ordered food. Although this restaurant was recommended, we were disappointed. Our server seemed not to understand basics, like bringing a straw with a soft drink, or extra mayo with the sandwich even though it was requested when we ordered. We ordered a barnyard pizza, which was good but not great. Also ordered fries which were soggy and seemed old or leftover. Onion rings were fine. The craft beer was only fair (we ordered a flight). Our biggest complaint was the long amount of time between handing the server the credit card and getting it back to sign the bill. Not a good feeling when you're just passing through. read more

The place is nice inside, clean and the food was very good. The problem we had was the service. First we came in sat down and nothing a couple came in behind us sat down was welcomed and handed menus when I turned around she said oh I'm sorry and gave us two menus. That really didn't bother me but then she had to find our waitress to get our drinks our food took 30 minutes to get. Then we didn't see our waitress at her table but I seen her at the bar talking with the other staff could hear all their conversation and was aggravated because I had I asked for a box 20 minutes earlier as she stood there with it in her hand talking. Also kitchen staff just sat out front smoking I can't stand that at any restaurant. Waited for the check for what seemed like forever until I decided to go to the bar and pay it up there as we were leaving there was a family across from us that was getting angry with the same waitress as well because she was visiting with friends in the other room and still hadn't brought them their drinks. I hate it because the food was really good but you can't enjoy it if you're being ignored when you need things. read more

Really wanted to like this place cause I love small town breweries and craft beer. Ordered the pale ale and a blonde. Both were lacking flavor and lacking the COLD beer expectations. The beer tasted flat and it was warm. I hope the fix their keg system after reading this. The owner was there but only gave his attention to a few locals. He must not want new customers. The waitress was extremely rude and very unfriendly. She dropped off menus and we told her we might just have drinks. She rolled her eyes and said *well ok then*. We asked for ice for our WARM beers and again she rolled her eyes and said *ok then*. Like we were really putting her to a tough task. They only have 1 TV and only watch what the owner wants. I'm being a little picky but in the area of presentation they were truly lacking. Their menu had tons of grammatical errors as well as many signage throughout the restaurant. The service here is really awful. We waited ten minutes to get a seat and everywhere we looked people were done eating and just waiting to get their checks. When a table finally opened we grabbed it, since there was a line of people behind us. It had been "cleaned" but there were still crumbs and the surface felt sticky. There was trash and food lying under every table. Waited forever to get drinks. Then forever to order food. Then forever to get the food. Now, if the service is poor but the food ends up being pretty good, I'm willing to give a half decent review because that's why you go out to eat: to eat good food. This was not good food. My hamburger was burnt black and tasted that way. The person I was with had the same burnt hamburger as well. The fries were okay, nothing to write home about. It all seemed overpriced for what it was. We were there during the solar eclipse, so we thought maybe they were shorthanded and not prepared for the traffic. Our waitress told us, "No, it's like this all of the time." :/ I would not recommend. If you want a good burger, go to the Burger Basket in Andrews; if you want a good draft, go to Hoppy Trout in Andrews. Stay away from this place. read more

I do not know the waiter's name but he made us regret the decision we made to dine at this establishment. We had a party of six so we chose a table in the second room and it was freezing. It's the end of June and we had summer attire on. I asked if he would turn down the 2 fans that were going at full speed. The waiter told us that the air is coming from an AC vent pointed right at our table and then said he wasn't sorry that he wouldn't turn it down. He could have turned down the fans...when we FINALLY got our food that he brought out one plate at a time, it was so windy that the pepper flew sideways out of the shaker. Two of us had to leave the restaurant to get coats for everyone out of our vehicle. The special of the day-beef tips looks suspiciously like dog food. We asked him for our checks right after we got the last dish and he decided that straightening napkins was more pressing than getting our checks. We asked 4 times. Finally, we ended up getting cash out of our wallets and had to go find him so we could leave. Napkins were blowing across the table. One of their table decorations blew into my daughter's soup. He NEVER refilled any of our drinks or check on us. HORRIBLE. He is a horrible server and shouldn't be allowed to work with the public. And they may want to put a sign on the front door that winter is required to dine there. read more

Our family of 5 ate here today and were very impressed with the service and the food. We had a gyro, Philly cheese steak, Greek salad and the barnyard pizza. Everything was extremely good. A perfect end to a day on the river. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. read more

I've been going here since it opened and have really liked it. However for the past three visits the beer selection has been VERY limited. The explanation from the staff is that they're supplying beer to their new location in Hayesville, impacting supply in Murphy. Supposedly the brewing license for Hayesville hasn't come through but it still appears that they've bitten off more than they can chew, or brew, as the case may be. read more

My husband and I have eaten at this resturant (love their beer) almost every couple month to 6 weeks when visiting Murphy. We walked in this afternoon (08/27/2017 - 4:15 pm) for pizza and beer, and we saw no waitress around at all. There was a gentleman behind the bar area but no waitresses. There were 2 ladies sitting at separate tables; one was busy on her computer and the other patron was finished with her meal and was actually getting her ticket to pay. The waitress was taking care of her attentively and was even happy to get her 5 ones for a $5 bill! During all this, the waitress looked at us twice but never once acknowledged us! We sat at our table for over 10 minutes (4 songs played) and not even a smike or I'll be right with you... so we left! Unfortunately, you lost a customer. I felt compelled to write a review for Valley River Brewing. My wife and I stopped by for lunch and a quick beer a couple weeks ago and we absolutely loved this place! Great beer selection and very nice engaging staff. We rarely eat pizza but I noticed the brick oven in the kitchen and thought lets try it. Maybe because we don't eat pizza a lot but I think it is the best pizza ever! Plenty of toppings and cheese and the crust was perfect. Being a creature of habit we went back the following day and had the exact same experience. Cant wait to head back up to our place in Hanging Dog and stop by for a beer and pizza.
