What a treat! My husband and I have relatives in The Panhandle so we travel through Chilicothe several times a year. We eat at their deli/restaurant because the food is fresh, delicious and delivered with a smile. On our last visit my husband had the cream of potato soup and threatened to dive into the bowl because it was so good. My favorite is the Grilled Chicken Salad which was on a bed of dark green, super fresh lettuce. They gave a generous portion of chicken, by the way. Along with fresh tomatoes, pecans and feta, I elected to try the Mango Vinaigrette as my dressing - YUMMY! Perfect stop to stretch legs, especially if you're traveling with dogs. There's a pecan grove with picnic benches to walk them and eat. Inside, the cafe has a nice selection, although as always I wish they had GF baked goods - they DO have gluten free bread for sandwiches! Great coffee. Fun home goods and gifts to browse. Cafe workers were nice but checkout girls were apparently done for the day at 11 am. read more

This place is adorable - I gave it a 4 Star because one would not expect this ambience, menu option and cute store on this patch of north Texas in the middle of nowhere! Our family ordered sandwiches- Grilled cheese, Reuben and Chicken pesto, all of which were nicely toasted with a good balance of meat and trims. I had a half salad with red raspberry vinegrette with my sandwich and it was fresh and healthy. We didn't get to try their desserts but definitely recommend this to road trippers for a cute, clean, place with healthy food options and friendly service. read more

Driving through town on our way home to Central Texas spotted the sign about pecans. Very cute store. Not expected to see on the highway in a small town. Inside has a cafe but we didn't try it. We just stopped for the pecans they were so fresh, they offered us samples. The people there were extremely friendly. Loved this place! read more

Wow! What a surprise. I saw the signage (to be honest was looking for a potty break) and thought I'd also pick up a few local pecans . This place is a nugget ---not only immaculate restroom facilities but gifts galore ---and not cheaply touristy stuff but items from local artisans including all kinds of candies, brownies , sauces, jellies, textiles and the like! Stopped in heading back to Dallas based on Yelp & apparent lack of any other choice but DQ. Had soup & sandwiches, BF had chicken corn chowder with 1/2 a pb&j. I had same soup & 1/2 chicken salad. Soup was barely warm & BF said bread wasn't fresh. Chicken salad & croissant were good but a very small "half" sandwich. Disappointing, for $8, soup sold as a bowl should be a bowl, not a small 2/3 filled small bowl. Also, any restaurant should serve soup hot or at least pretty warm or don't serve it.The soup did taste homemade & would have been fine if warmed & a normal portion. IMO they should serve a whole sandwich if you select peanut butter & jelly, just sayin...lol $2 for a bottle soda. Positive notes: 2 squares of fudge to go (still hungry) $4 per piece. Good fudge, albeit pricey. Pleasant cheerful service. Lots of Texana gifts & treats. Every kind of pecan item known. Cute stuff, all over priced. Targeting the highway traveler. read more

My dad stopped here on a road trip to Quanah and brought back a sack of pecans and the maple pecan honey butter. Both were incredibly delicious. He asked the lady working there at the time where the pecans come from and she said their orchard is right down the road on the way to the Big Valley cemetery. Local flavor and delicious! read more

Whilest plodding along the 287 my wife and I decided to take a short little break from killing insects with the front of our car and try this little store on the side of the road. We were trying to keep our eyes open for a place to get good pecans and this place rolled into view about the time we wanted to stop. Not only do they have a vast assortment of ways to get your pecans, but they also have all sorts of products that have the pecans in them. And while I am not from the area I have no idea where the pecans come from, but they were really good. Another thing that was really good was the fudge. It seems to me that even some of the best fudges can have a slight, grittyness to them that probably comes from the chocolate more than anything else. BUT I have to say that this place had some great fudge. Not only did it look good, the stuff was incredibly smooth and very fudgy. (Use their website to order some, seriously this stuff is really good) The store staff member there was very nice and helpful as well. The store was full of some other things (books, misc stuff) that my guess is would be hard to find anywhere else in the area. (Not like there is a BN or Boarders anywhere close by) Very tastefully decorated despite the fact that the store was FULL of stuff. Worth a stop if you're flying by. read more

The cookbook selection here is really something and you can find all the newest Texas cookbooks here from chuck wagon cooking and BBQ to the finer side of delicate eats. Valley Pecans is pretty much the only reason to ever stop in Chillicothe. Well, the only reason besides those flashing disco lights in your rear view that appeared just on the outskirts of town. Be forewarned, there is almost always a state trooper on one side or the other of that town so watch your speed and wear your seatbelt unless you enjoy paying tickets. Back to Valley Pecans, awesome pecans available in everything from huge bags of unshelled to bags of pecan meal to my personal favorite, Gran Marnier Chocolate coated. They also have tons of neat stuff inside, from home decor to holiday pretties, books, gift packs, skin care, etc. Whenever I pass through Chillicothe I have to stop here and get both choco covered pecans, a bottle of pecan oil, and check out the Christmas ornaments. If they're closed when you're passing by, they have a refrigerated vending machine outside filled with assorted pecan packs. Best of all, the machine will process debit and credit cards, so no rummaging around under your seats for change! read more

We had a group of women at our B&B in Branson MO that were from Texas. One was the mother of the owner of Valley Pecans and she sent us a package of pecans from her store. WOW... we have never tasted pecans any better than the ones we just used to make a fresh pecan pie. We will be using Valley Pecans from this day forward. This was a great stop on our move from California to Dallas. We stopped because we needed to mail something from the post office and thought we would hope into the deli as a bathroom break. We decided to stay because of the people, decor and food! Perfect stop for my daughters: they got to find a prize for the trip in the cute store and we all had a delicious lunch! I had the loaded potato soup with sour dough bread. I don't like sour dough bread at all and theirs changed my mind! It was some of the best homemade bread I've ever had. It was affordable and great. I was making the long drive from Amarillo back to Dallas and decided to stop here to stretch my legs. I decided bring my boyfriend some fudge at the last second and it was such a good decision! This is easily one of the best Cafes we have been to in our road trip across the USA (L.A. Cal to NOLA and back) great, high quality food, great prices ($34 for 3 people, lunch, drinks and dessert.) The cafe owner is patient, polite, knowledgeable and conversational without being at all overbearing or invasive. The pecan pie is amazing, however this should come as no surprise as the owner also owns a pecan farm. I can't recommend this place highly enough. read more

Always stop there and have bought gifts and Christmas through the years. Was treated badly today by the woman who turned the lights out on us in the back room while we were picking out our purchases. We hurried from Dallas to make it before they closed at 5:30...arrived at 5:05. Have my doubts now as much as we stop by there. Customer service is important. We said something at the front while checking out...no response about closing up the inside early.
