You save on gas but pay out your A$$...My opinion is that bus drivers are very verbally abusive and the accountability for them is very minimal. I have been screamed at for not standing in the correct spot when I was near the bus sign but not i guess directly in front of it...and for placing my bike on the wrong end of the bike rack, as well as numerous other unusual items..I have also seen bums on the bus asking teenagers for money and trying to intimidate them while the driver does nothing about it , when you bring it to their attention and still lets the bum stay on the bus. There are a lot of dangerous people on the bus who come from probation offices, halfway houses, and I even saw a guy with an ankle bracelet who was telling everyone about just gettting out of prison, give out his phone number to a couple girls...Today some crazy church lady got out of a car and approached us as the bus pulled up to try to give us some unwanted religious magazine even though we told her to get lost so we could hop this bus quickly and get to work...she kept mumbling and talking to us like some selfish pyscho...Bus driver also drive right past you if you sit at the bus bench and then yell at you if they decide to screech stop a foot or 2 after you jump up; by scolding you to stand up and wildly flail your arms so they know you are waiting/wanting the bus...Hey is there a rule book they should give out instead of this random yelling of rules because everytime I call the bus operations center and belive you me, I DO...they email me they will discipline the driver and that I can stand, place bike or flail arms however and whenever I would like to...(well how about conduct and customer service for bus drivers..."if you have something to say, say something nicely" is my motto..Overall riding the bus or being at bus stops is very dangerous and everyone should carry mace or an ice pick. You also have to be careful exiting the bus that you dont get run over and of course sitting at the bus bench, usually there is some drunk slob sleeping on it, peeing it or people will drive by asking you for cigarettes and rolling papers or dates etc...Ive noticed the best way to ride the bus is to be earphoned into an ipod and 2nd but not recommended is bury your face in a book and dont sit anywhere near the bus bench unless you want to engage in psychotic conversations because you are like a sitting target. You may save money riding the bus but you will pay 3 times as much in stress. The bus drivers are very rude and scream at you whenever they feel like it... Riding the bus is similiar to being in a captive area where you are a victim to many outside influences. The rail is the same way, especially around the library, many dangerous people on the rail. The only nice experience i had on the bus is using the Express bus from the park and rides that go straight downtown...its all quiet, mannerly people going to work except even though there are cameras on the parking lot, two people told me their cars were broken into and then their house robbed when their garage openers were stolen from the glove boxes along with mail showing their address...so you need to pay to install an alarm and have nothing in the car. Like I said...you may save a couple bucks on gas but you will pay out your a$$ when you ride the bus. Luckily I ride it only once in awhile to work but I just cant stand it on a regular basis. read more

I give two stars because it is there to use, after all. Still, this happened in the last three days. A drug addict homeless person tried to steal by bike and tried to hit me in the head with a piece of iron, on the platform at Jefferson/1st Ave two days ago. Used the call button to report and was told security was on the way. Ten minutes later I left. Had to chase him away myself. Today, the driver was at a red light, she suddenly hit the gas then break, my bike flew off the rack and hit a woman in the head. We told the two security people at next stop and they said, quite... "Technically she's higher up than us so there's nothing we can do" Luckily it was just the tire, still it hit her kind of hard, but she said she was okay. She looked to be pushing 70 tho. Later that day I spoke to a supervisor and he had more excuses why there's nothing that can be done about this bullshit. My point is, all of these people are being paid with money comprised through tax revenue. Since there's nothing they can do about anything it is my opinion that turnstiles on the platforms can do their jobs a lot cheaper read more

Just the worst service ever!!!!! How.. just how are you late leaving when you are the first bus that leaves in your route. Im talking about the incredibly rude turkish/Persian looking man who drives the 51st ave bus north bound. He is just the biggest jerk. He's always late...like all the time. I complained about this idiot and they were all like well we will see where he is. While im waiting for the operator to "locate" him I see this smug moron walking towards me. I then ask him " Weren't you supposed to leave like 10 minutes ago" he then replies is an annoying arrogant voice "you complain to much I Don't think I will let you on" JUST.....omg are you freaking kidding me. I then say" if you value your job you sure as hell will" then I get on the bus and say" its your job your supposed to leave on time, you could atleast respect that" as im sitting he goes" ill leave when I want" I then say "yeah and then lose your job in the process".....overall just an really awfully cocky horrible driver. Valley metro you need to get rid of this guy asap. His behavior is disgusting!! read more

The people who drive for them before covid 19, 98 percent of them are just insufferable pirces of s***. But since then I've been skipped over by drivers even when wearing a mask. I've been bitched out about standing because they have every seat filled without the covid warning laminate on it. You can't socially distance when you pack an unsafe amount of people in one area the bus stops are terrible because the night lights are broken they reek of human urine and your constantly dealing with pill junkies smoking off foil next to you or a drunk pissing themselves were paying out the ass for this joke dis service through taxes now and a failure of a light rail that basically leads nowhere. They constantly strike for more money they already make way more than there worth paying because of their bulls*** unions when covid goes away I'm going to do my part to kill these mobile urinals for the homeless by paying ride share service's read more

Valley Metro has a decent light rail and streetcar system that should definitely be expanded. The light rail covers many parts of the metro area, including Central and Northern Phoenix, as well as North Tempe and Downtown Mesa. Light rail has many park and rides, and waits are about 15-20 minutes. Make sure you know arrival times before getting to the station. Stations are clean and provide shade, and also have fare machines and drinking fountains. There are also overhead signs that let you know when the next train is arriving as well as sound messages. The train itself is decently clean and modern, however sometimes it might not be the best smelling, but the seats seem to be clean. The light rail isn't the fastest thing, but it's reliable and connects plenty of Phoenix. read more

Hatcher and Cave Creek rd is drug infested and my neighbors are waiting for valley metro police to take care of the issue. Do NOT use this bus stop if you need a seat. Oh, the bus will stop there but not one of 13 will get on. It's disgusting and I witnessed a mother with her 15 year old deal with drug smoking people hiding to smoke untie cover by seat. On the bus, she told me that they bout got sick. I asked if she wanted to call but refused saying she didn't want to stir up any trouble. I'll remove or update my review after I see a change. There's drug pipe broken in the rocks. Filthy and talk of stealing a bike are a regular occurrence of those hanging there. If they are not there to ride the bus, they shouldn't be there!!! read more

im old and disabled only have one leg can barely walk ,and was assulted on the lightrail 19 ave and camelback .got on young man with no shoes on laying on the seat punk stuck his foot in my sons face yelled at him not to do it again and was assulted. cant call cops because of ptsd due to police .i have seen many assults at this location. they know this is the most dangerous spot in pheonix yet they do nothing to protect the innocent. beware if your disabled riding the vally metro. please for your own protection dont ride valley metro and if you see a disabled person with only one leg or any disable person being harrassed by disrepecting punk help the disabled. read more

One of the worst bus systems I have experienced. I just moved here few months ago, thought may be it was a good idea to take the bus to work since I live not far from where I work. After two months of taking the bus to work, my conclusion is that DON'T DO IT if you don't need to. It is not worth the headache. It seems the entire system is created for the people who have no other means of transportation, but bus. The way they treat bus riders as if you own them even if their service is one of the worst Fortunately for me, I don't need to take the bus to work, and I feel sorry for the people that do need the bus for their daily commute... read more

Horrific security protocols on the valley metro app arrogant security guards on light rail who think they're gods. Bus drivers passing constantly and then kicking you off for your pass being expired in 110 degree heat never returning your lost items to you. I would encourage everyone to boycott this monstrosity. Albeit there's a few nice and good bus drivers but not many.... The leadership needs a shake up. They even harass homeless who were taking off their shoes to air their feet and threatening prison the bully light rail guards (some) hide behind the police and harass the citizens and residents of Phoenix read more

Not even "atrocious" is a strong enough word to describe just how awful the buses are here in Phoenix. The fact that it costs $4 a day for such a disservice is laughable and could easily be described as state-sanctioned extortion toward anybody who does not drive, by choice or otherwise. The buses are NEVER on time, and I cannot stress that enough, which can, and has, led to troubles with job security for countless passengers across the Valley. How Valley Metro has never been held accountable to any degree, nor subject to a class-action lawsuit for the problems they so carelessly create, is beyond me. read more

The bus service provided by Valley Metro is incredibly disappointing. The schedule appears to be nothing more than window dressing, as buses frequently fail to show up entirely. This unreliability makes it impossible to plan trips, get to work on time, or trust the system for daily commuting. It's unacceptable that a public service meant to provide consistent transportation operates with such disregard for its riders. If this continues, the agency risks losing the trust of the community entirely. Immediate improvements in punctuality and accountability are urgently needed. read more

I have uprighted this garbage pail at a stop of yours I frequent. I was told police/homeland gave me permission to be there out of need. You and your bus drivers will not be my conservator by creating the illusion I get violent (unless being attacked), falsely charge me, and then make me say I don't remember it to avoid being prosecuted. I and other survivors have the right to survive. I'm having someone let FBOP know to contact both of you and all your directed witnesses to put an end to the ownership of us and this country via this scam. read more

I don't mind riding the bus with crazy people and grumpy unfriendly drivers. What I do mind is the price being too high and the lack of service at. night and on the weekends. I can't afford to go anywhere. I can only afford to go to school one day a week. Even then I still have to walk a mile to the school and a mile from the school because I can't afford the all day pass. How am supposed to get on my feet if I can't even afford to take the bus to go job hunting. And now you want to raise the price another dollar? WTF! read more

Now we all know it's covid-19, flue season- we also know, human rights has also been violated, meaning when it comes down to it the metro talks about solving the homeless population by really NOT solving the situation of anyone goes against Donald Trump in Arizona, we'll you're up for an rude awaking, I've spoken too several both female and male, where All three white persons said that somebody in their family either ran slaves however, this was discussed for real, what if the CDC sees this. As usual. Full of crazy on the lightrail. Some nut talking of his running from CA cops and coming to Phoenix. Talking crazy and banging his cane while telling a guy he will hit him right in front of the train cops while they just stand there. Then a young guy leaves the platform walking over the tracks and that makes the train cops hollar out the open door at the young guy crossing the st but not ant the crazy guy banging his cane on the handrails in the train. The light rail just sucks. read more

the 533 express from phoenix to mesa has got to be the worst bus station in the universe which is transparent of the white trash scum bag parasite management. it never fails that a bus on a commute schedule always breaks down. piss poor management and maintenance of equipment at best. all these so called parasites need to be terminated at once. unprofessional and not deserving of breathing any oxygen which is pretty much transparent of AZ people. Its service department (602-253-5000) is a joke; the mentality over there is that we really don't give a damn or even care: if you don't like it tough luck. I have never heard of such a nonsense that if your ticket is bad, you need to go to central station in downtown Phoenix to exchange the ticket (and they only open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday), or if you happen to have given a wrong bus ticket by the local distribution store, touch luck there is no exchange policy. read more

Today, I was on bus #6518 and it was smoldering hot. The A/C was broken. Valley Metro sent no one to fix it. I called a lady named Julia who's a sales representative and she said it won't get fixed until the driver's shift was over. It was so hot that the driver could've had a heat stoke while driving. That puts lives in danger. NEVER RIDE THIS BUS. IT IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO TRANSPORT. CALL UBER. ITS CHEAPER THAN ANY TAXI OUT THERE read more
