The only downside is that there is a medium to long lag time between when the technicians finish the pre-checks and when the Dr sees you. When experiencing an eye emergency, Dr Chu was emphatic that I come in as soon as possible and his receptionists were able to book me an appointment the same day that I called the office. Dr Chu thoroughly examined my eyes, relayed his findings and paused to make sure I had an opportunity to reflect and ask him questions. We discussed the timeline for a follow up appointment and next steps if my condition continued its progression. I feel my eye care is well supported by a great team of professionals at FVCL.

I had my annual routine check up with Dr. King whom I found very pleasant and professional. In that check up he advised I had a cataract in my right eye. Not serious but he gave me the choice to have it done. I agreed and an appointment was made for additional consult in Abbotsford. I mistakenly thought I would be see a surgeon. There I met with a young woman ( not a doctor) who spent 5 minutes with me on a couple of machines , then asked me to wait. A few minutes later she invited me into an office and gave me a two minute explanation of what a cataract was. She then proceeded to go over a list of options and prices Including the MSP option which she said would basically leave me with worse vision than I have now! Despite me filling out a lengthy questionnaire in advance I was not asked any questions about my expectations or concerns. When I mentioned the experiences of friends and family, she pretty much brushed me off and went back to her sales pitch. I Felt like I was attending time share presentation. I left feeling very uncomfortable about the level of care I would receive if I did not choose their expensive uplifts. When I said I wanted take another look, I was asked to sign a statement taking me out of their queue for surgery. Very disappointing experience!

It means Dr Kirzner has extensive experience in the field because he's done over 80000 procedures!! My first contact with them was through email. I had asked how long in advance I was to book for an appointment in July. They replied and told me to contact them in May for a July appointment. I called their office to book my appointment then and they took my credit card number for the $300 deposit to secure my spot. Shortly after, I received their information package in the mail. The week of the surgery, I flew in from Calgary the day of my pre-operative exams to see if I was a good candidate for PRK or LASIK. Because of my read up on their very informative website I knew that I was probably going to go with PRK. (Long spiel about the different procedures explained on their website if you're so inclined to know.) It was a bit of a wait to see someone; from the time I got there until the time I left took almost 2 hours. Next day, I am going in for my laser procedure! I get there an hour before the scheduled time to to prep and redo my eye exams two more times. First up, they explain the eye drop medication schedule to you and place them all into the blue pouch along with some really awesome sunnies for after. (Actually, the sunnies are kind of hideous.) Payment is processed and another little eye test again. Dr Kirzner was the first to do my actual eye exam again and then Jeff (?) did the second. Once that was finished, onto the waiting room in the surgical section... When they're ready for you they'll get you to don an awesome surgical cap and booties! You lay down right under the laser and try your best to get comfortable. You'll get numbing eye drops which sort of sting when they're first administered. (Hey, where was the Valium I was hoping to get?) My heart was beating pretty heavily at this point but they explain every step of the way what's expected of you and what they're doing to you. Left eye gets covered first and your right eye gets clamped open. You concentrate on a red blinking light. The assistant announces "30 seconds," at which point Dr Kirzner starts to apply the solution to wipe away the epithelial layer of your eye. Laser starts up and he warns you that you'll smell something like burning hair. I don't feel a thing. I just hear the laser beams doing their thing and my eyes can literally see the patterns that are being burned away. So cool!!! And then it's done within seconds and he covers my eyeball really quickly, then blasts a cold cold liquid solution into my eye. He says, "brain freeze!" to warn me beforehand. A number of different eye drops are administered, then the bandage lens is put in which is basically a contact lens. The eye patch is removed and placed on the opposite eye and all is repeated. Done! I was escorted to the recovery room and laid on a chaise to relax. I was given eye drops to put in 10 minutes later on my own. There was a patient's husband waiting for her in there as well and at one point I started to sit up and chat with him. I was promptly told to lay back and close my eyes by one of the assistants. Oops! It just goes to show how uncomplicated the procedure can be. I felt like I could see pretty well at this point. About 45 minutes later Dr Kirzner came out of the surgical suite to quickly take a close look at my eyes, put in more eye drops, and then let me go. I have my follow up the next morning to check how they're healing and to look for signs of infection. I truly feel that this practice is wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Not just for their incredible pricing, but for how I felt I was treated by all the staff there. It is a busy practice and it is expected that there will be waits, but never did I feel that I was just another number. I paid $2090 for both eyes for uncomplicated PRK plus $200 for medications as of July 2016. Just a side note: I did overhear that they're moving their office in August so people can probably expect a longer wait for an appointment while they get settled in and move.

Dr. Lin and his team at Pacific Laser Eye Centre have destroyed my eyes and ruined my life…read more I should never have been deemed a candidate due to my underlying conditions fully disclosed to them pre-op and a very mild prescription, yet they were dishonest with me and deemed me a candidate anyway. They downplayed all my concerns and outright lied about risks I inquired about. They didn't disclose a lot of serious risks especially in my case. They promised me "vision as good as glasses or better"..Immediately post op I got all kinds of terrible visual distortions, both day time and night time. My concerns were dismissed every time and I was told it's normal part of healing and should go away by 3-6 months. Several months post op now, I have a long list of awful complications, from visual distortions to horrible chronic pain, severe dry eyes which all led to severe depression. This nightmare could have been easily avoided if Dr. Lin and his team (Winnie, Gina, other techs) were honest with me and ethical people, disclosing all the risks properly, rejecting me as a candidate based on my condition and certain measurements they've done that proved increased risks of complications in my case, something they never disclosed to me. Instead, they chose to deceive me and destroy my life for profit. Shame on all of you.

I have a long history of chronic uveitis, which has required numerous eye surgeries and treatments, including cataracts, vitrectomy, and laser for retinal tears. My vision deteriorated rapidly in the affected eye leaving me with a significant imbalance in my vision which couldn't be effectively corrected with glasses, and I had been wanting laser correction for many years. However, my retinal specialist advised waiting until my uveitis was stable, which took over 20 years. Throughout that time, he consistently recommended Dr. David Lin as the only surgeon I should consider, provided he deemed an eligible candidate. From the very first interaction with Pacific Laser Eye Centre, I was impressed by how knowledgeable and informative Tiffany was. This level of professionalism and competency continued with everyone I interacted with at the clinic. All my questions, and I had a lot, were answered thoroughly and promptly. When I met Dr. Lin, I instantly felt confident in his expertise and reaffirmed that I had made the right choice. The procedure itself was quick and painless, and the aftercare was exceptional. After removing the bandage lens, I did experience some discomfort and when I called the clinic, they got me in to see a technician and Dr. Holland within an hour. The issue was quickly identified and resolved. I've since had appointments with my retinal specialist and optometrist, and the results have exceeded expectations. Dr. Lin was able to achieve a level of vision correction beyond what was able to be achieved with glasses. I am an extremely happy patient and would highly recommend Dr. Lin for anyone considering laser correction!

I am so happy I had upgraded lens replacement surgery on both eyes! I am writing this review…read morewithout my glasses, which makes me smile. Overall, a very good experience with NW eye. The surgeon is just delightful and I am still healing/getting used to my eyes (only been 1 week since the second eye) but I can tell already that this was a great decision for me. I'm only 62, but I had the beginning of cataracts (I am told this is very common at my age) and my vision was getting worse. I was so sick and tired of readers on-and-off, and it was a nuisance for teaching--had to perch glasses on the end of my nose. No more--I can read my lessons and talk to the students without any correction now. Upgraded lenses are expensive, but insurance paid for half of the total due to the cataracts, which are covered--I just had to pay for the special lens. My lesson learned to pass on is to get the second eye done as soon as comfortable. I think I had a harder time adjusting to and recovering from the first one because the upgraded lens are meant to work with each other. Once I had the second one done, the first felt instantly better. The second eye recovery was so much quicker! They tell me each eye is individual in how it recovers. OK--so why not 5 stars? I had to dock them one for the often frustrating lack of cohesion between the BHam clinic and the Mt. Vernon surgery center. I LOVE the way Mt. Vernon runs, and the staff are so nice and friendly. Not the same vibe in BHam. They are nice, but not as customer-service oriented. Just getting through to a human on the phone is a challenge, and you might get different versions/opinions from different doctors and staff in BHam. They all seem a little green. The call center doesn't always have accurate information. My only note about Mt. Vernon is that the discharge person is a bit abrupt and physically rough--which is a bit disconcerting when you are still a bit disorientated and feeling vulnerable right after surgery. (Both times so I know he wasn't just having a bad day).) It would be nice to have some of the more compassionate care you get before surgery. A last impression is just as important as a first one.

It felt like an electric shock feeling in my right eye, both my eyes became very crusty and stuck together so when I went back for my postop, I was given eyelash cleaning wipes and eye drops. After a few weeks, nothing changed my eyes were very blurry so I made another appointment in which I showed up and when I went hey young redheaded lady came out and was on her laptop and gave me a whole lot of attitude. I showed her my phone where they sent me a reminder, and I checked in. No one said anything and she said that the doctor said that she didn't need to see me anymore, but she already saw me for my post op. And I was told the doctor said that she already saw me. She is the one who told me to make another appointment for the checkup. After lthe drops. I went to my next appointment in a young attendant, came out with a laptop and said that the doctor says you already saw me and didn't need to see me anymore pretty much and she gave me a whole lot of attitude, roll her eyes and all those things I was highly offended and she said the doctor said I guess we can take a look. I had an appointment showed them on my phone and still got an attitude and I told her I didn't appreciate her attitude and she became eye rolling and condescending. I told the attendant that I didn't appreciate the attitude that I received from her and have a good day then she says well, the doctor can see her. she went to the back, came back out and said she said she guess she can see me now I had an appointment on staying with the problem was and why I had to get an attitude. It's horrible. It embarrassed me in that waiting room. She came back out and said she take a look but... I will never go back there again horrible horrible experience this ruined my whole day I'll just canceled my lunch date and went home. I'll tell everybody not to go to these people. Insane to run a practice like this. unacceptable well I guess we can take a look Say anything and so I was pretty much getting a whole lot of attitude, smoky eye rolling attitude ridiculous. It ruined my day and I still hurt with no help. Do not ever go to these people. I worked in a hospital for 26 years and if I ever saw one of my staff giving a patient attitude like that, I would ask them to voluntarily leave permanently. I am going to make an appointment with someone else to finish the job just a warning.
