Most recently, I was searching for succulents, and they had a vast array, with lots of beautiful arrangements to provide inspiration. While Oliver's is a geared toward high-end gardeners, I find their prices to be about the same -- sometimes better -- than those of other garden centers in Connecticut. The knowledgeable staff are friendly and helpful. Oliver's is also community-minded. In my neighborhood, we are working to transform a vacant, overgrown, ugly lot into a nature preserve and bird sanctuary. Oliver's has been a true partner in this endeavor, providing native tress and shrubs that are well-adapted to the particulars of the space and lots of good advice about care, placement, etc.

I spoke to a handful of tree companies before hiring Jeff at Madd Beaver. Lets not focus on those…read moreother guys though. Madd Beaver came to me as a reference, first off they showed up on time every time. Estimate started with being handed a copy of the company's liability insurance policy declaration page. So for those of you that don't know why this is such a big deal, there are 20-30 companies around the tri-state area operating without insurance or even proper licensing for every one that does it by the books. You have to hire a contractor that has the right insurance and policies in place, it goes hand in hand with experience and knowledge. After this was a walk through of the property, discussing options and a through explanation of how the area would be protected during work. I was given a verbal estimate and shook hands to seal the deal right then. This is how much confidence they built in their abilities. Price was not the highest but it was by far not the lowest. I believe you get what you pay for and short changing a big tree job to save a few thousand is not worth it. I was texted a start date and at 9am on that day they were outside and ready to go. The job was completed exactly as discussed, no games and no shortcuts. Upon completion the crew cleaned up everything perfectly. I unequivocally recommend this company. I could not be happier!

i've used these folks in the past and generally speaking have been very satisfied this particular…read moreyear I got a two core delivery of what was to be Kim dried firewood, and I have have had to clean out the inside of my JOTUL glass almost weekly. In the prior several years, I've never had to clean it, of course for a little dust, but never for what burns on the inside of the fireplace and that is no longer the case almost weekly. I have to really not only use specialized cleaners to get the chemicals off the inside of the glass fireplace, but I also have to know use razors to scrape some of it off. It's so resin heavy. I have no idea what has caused this other than the type of wood, the curing of the wood or how wet the wood is, but at this point, I cannot recommend this service or can I use it again? It's unfortunate, but I will look for a better service and really test of what I actually even have a wood test meter now for water for a liquid, which I never needed it in the past.
