Disaster I had to replace my entire lawn due to one of their a major screw up. Not what hey used to be!

This wonderful company saved my lawn! My front yard had become an ugly plot of dirt, rocks, and weeds--mostly dandelions--and big depressions where former trees had stood. I wanted an all-in-one service that would add topsoil, level it out, kill the weeds with something ecofriendly (not Roundup), fertilize, seed it and add straw and compost. After striking out with various lawn services that wouldn't do all I wanted, couldn't accommodate me in their schedule or couldn't deliver on their promises, I found Teed & Brown. I couldn't ask for a better experience! After a personal visit from the owner, Peter Brown, a professional team arrived a week later with several trucks and systematically took care of everything--spraying for weeds without using 2,4D, fertilizing, breaking up the compacted earth with a Harley rake, bringing in a dump truck of topsoil, leveling the lawn, scattering grass seed, straw and compost. Two weeks later they came back with more weed killer and fertilizer and overseeded the bare spots. After watering every day for a month my lawn looks amazing! Have used them for a few years, but definitely no longer. Way overpriced and sadly, the owner are not very active in the business. Use this company! I've used Teed and Brown for about 6 months to rescue my ailing lawn. The lawn has never looked better, and for the first time, it didn't turn yellow and dry by September. Communication is important to me and this company communicates in a timely and thorough way. You get real information from real people in this company with a designated acct manager ... and not a row of check boxes!!! Questions are answered and no question is too basic. Teed and Brown has gotten too big to care. I noticed that the quality has decreased dramatically over the years but ultimately terminated my contract when I caught them in a lie about my lawn not having chinch bugs when in fact it did. I have heard many other customers feel this same way and have noticed the change and have also left. It's unfortunate but it is not worth it for the outrageous price point. read more

Peter must have skipped geometry class! We have aerial views of our property by drone and a topographic survey showing a tennis court which is 7200 sq feet. Next to it is our yard which is is about 1/2-1/3 the size of the tennis court. The Bid was for 16,000 square feet of sod. Peter was unwilling to talk about the drone images, survey and tennis court size comparison seen on drone images. He just said no one has ever questioned my measurements before. irrigation industry needs oversight. teed brown winterzed my system and was paid by me. The winterization failed. A small pipe on back flow froze due to water entering the back flow. No one other than Teed Brown touched the system. I insist that frozen pipe repair should be watahtted. Teed Brown refused. Why should a client pay for failed winterisatin service ? irrigation industry needs oversight. i had to watch and observe how they set my sprinkler heads. The heads were spraying water on my asphalt. They know better. if I didn't tell the technician Joe the plumber to modify the heads he would have left it as it was. wasteful the irrigation profession must be observed and requires oversight and their work and billing. Be diligent. observe. question. watch your bill carefully. they are very slow to send you the bill. read more

The saying "the grass looks greener on the other side" just doesn't ring true for us - literally. We struggled with a prior company - our grass constantly looked patchy and riddled with weeds. Now it looks lush and beautiful. The constant dry spells in the summer surely don't help, but it looks great. We decided to switch to Teed & Brown at a significant increase in cost and it's worth it. We had a huge tree branch fall on our lawn and kill the grass underneath. Our old company tried to resolve it for an entire year and these guys finally got it done within a matter of weeks. My yard, and more specifically lawn, was neglected by the previous owners of the home I moved into 18 months ago. It was depressing, as I'm a transplant from Northern California, and grew up in a place where your yard is part of your castle, and you care for it with pride (or you pay someone else to). The crabgrass, bald patches etc etc was an utter nightmare. Depressing! I considered all these "franchise True Green" options, but was appauled by many the reviews, to be honest. Personal recommendations led me to T & B. Peter Teed, came by, and within the timeframe of his visit I shared his confidence that my family and I would be enjoying a beautiful lawn within 6 months, give or take... Fast forward 3 months - The level of care and concern to insure successful results for a beautiful lawn have paid off in spades. While it takes patience and time, and we still have a ways to go, Teed and Brown went above and beyond to insure proper results. We had a really cold Spring, which made things difficult early on, but staying the course led me to sitting here looking out over amazing results. And we STILL have another couple months for everything to fill in. I couldn't be happier! Bottom line: Don't look into the "franchise cheap" solution. I can tell you, firsthand, Teed and Brown are worthy of the investment. You won't be sorry! read more

Editing a previous 1 star review: had a terrible experience with two of their techs not realizing we cancelled our upcoming appointment and showing up anyway, issue was we didn't want to bother a nest we had in our backyard (which is why we cancelled). We had the landscapers not cut within 4 feet of the nest so it was fairly obvious what was going on. The teed and brown techs came in and kicked the nest a few times until all the rabbits scattered and were caught on camera stating they would have killed them if they didn't run. We immediately cancelled our service with them, fairly easy process. The owner reached out the next day and provided a lengthy description of what they're going to do to mitigate against both those things from happening in the future. Didn't change our decision but hoping something like this doesn't happen to the next person, whether it be wildlife, their dog, cat, whatever. For whatever it's worth their previous visits yielded good results, while pricey. I guess it all comes down to the people performing the service at the client site, of which we had a couple duds this past, and last, time read more

After 2 years of fungus and cinch bug infestation, I interviewed a number of the lawn services and was sold (snowed?) on Teed and Brown--they purported to be smarter than their peers, their white glove service/response was second to none and they guaranteed satisfaction...all at a hefty 50-100% premium to the competition. While they did deliver on high touch they failed on other key points. Consider, I met them in August 2020--I spent $3000+ to thatch, reseed and then ancillary post/ late summer pre winter services with a perfect fall lawn to supporting T&B efficacy! Little did I know their "necessary" pre winter treatment was a catalyst to snow mold devastation that has me seeking a new lawn ($3-5k) and new service. T&B is not only not standing by their guarantee of satisfaction but claim the "extreme NE snow-weather" as the main culprit...even though none of my neighbors have been afflicted. After researching the origins of snow mold it appears the late fertilization was the cause of the snow mold devastatio--how ironic, I pay a premium for services that destroyed my lawn. If there was modicum of contrition and or a concession to right the failure I'd still be a client rather than a disgruntled victim of an avoidable problem they created--instead, they suggested I rethatch and reseed my lawn! Man, these guys have hutzpah, I'll give'em that!! read more

Every morning when I look out at my lawn, I have to pinch myself to make sure it truly is MY LAWN that I am seeing. Last summer, my lawn was a disaster. Patchy and full of weeds. I tried manually pulling weeds (and convincing my kids to help), using the herbicides that "kill weeds, not lawn". Nothing worked. It really was taking up way too much of my time, and giving me far too much grief. In the late fall, I called Teed & Brown to aerate the lawn. I was impressed with their knowledge and signed up for a Late Fall/Early Winter package. They were honest that lawn care doesn't happen overnight or in one season. But, WOW!!! This spring, my lawn is lush, thick, and literally magazine worthy. Quite a turnaround. The handful of weeds I had so much trouble with (crabgrass, sedge grass, others) are gone. No more patchy spots. I may need to go buy a new lawn mower, as my (very) old one struggles to cut this thick, lush new lawn that it has never had to cut before! Even my neighbors are commenting on the lawn. If Teed & Brown can work this kind of magic on my lawn in one season, I'm sure they can help any lawn. In early summer 2016 hired Teed & Brown to treat our lawn. The lawn was full of weeds, winter rot, and weird flying insects that made holes all throughout the lawn. By the end of the summer I'd spent and EXORBITANT amount of money on grass seed and aeration. And labor. And the lawn looked awful. Nothing changed. I called and asked them to do something about it. They came back and added more seed. The lawn didn't change. Gave them another chance this summer. Presently, I have a lawn full of weeds. Teed & Brown have NON-EXISTENT customer service. They send out phamplets and booklets but never pick up the phone, or knock on the door, and say "Hey, we noticed that things aren't getting better, We'd like to try something else." No communication unless I phone them. I just fired them. They could've cared less. I would steer clear if I were you. They spend money on little booklets for you to educate you on your lawn and spend more money mailing them to you. And just like every other ridiculous catalogue I receive, it was thrown away. I complain and they tell me they'll come out and spray weed killer. I could've figured that out, Junior. I paid my last ridiculously expensive bill and told them to never come near my house again.
