I've been wanting try this place for a long time but the historical reviews threw me off because they seem so inconsistent. Well, this week I got sick and I needed soup, so I took the plunge and ordered the standard chicken soup. I was very happy. It was clearly made from scratch. Flavor was great. I also tried the special which was grilled chicken with rice and pigeon peas, - while this was a high-quality meal, the grilled chicken breast was a little too "healthy vibes" for me personally - I prefer bone in chicken or dark meat. However, the rice with peas was great. It was served with a good amount of avocado and the seasoning of the chicken was good. So today: we ordered the Greek orzo soup and a lamb Gyro with fries -- the Greek orzo soup was absolutely delicious - flavor, texture, perfect. clearly made from scratch. The Gyro was delicious- flavors on point, the Tzatziki was very good - ratio of vegetables to lamb to Pita to sauce - all very good. I could not be more excited to have this place down the block from my house! I wanted to leave a detailed review so anyone who's been on the fence can take the plunge and order something off the menu. Join me & support this very sweet local business! read more

Love Valley Fresh- they make everything homemade with fresh ingredients. Specifically, I always order the Caesar Salad (with crispy chicken on the side) bc the dressing is made fresh and one of the best dressings i've ever had, the clam chowder is very flavorful and delicious, onion rings are the best, and their cheesesteak is delicious as well. Love that they have healthy options like smoothies and crepes and also feel good foods made in a fresh way. read more

Valley Fresh - Caesar Salad has the best real homemade creamy dressing, not fake and light like most places - American Near Me - West Orange, New Jersey

Valley Fresh is my husband's find. He'd heard good things about this local eatery off South Valley in West Orange. He's ordered online for pick-up a couple of times already for us. True to the name, food is fresh and made to order items. The menu is a mix of classic Greek specialties, burger/sandwiches/wraps, crepes and smoothies, and salads. They also have wings/tenders and empanadas.  I'm a fan of the salads there. My favorite is the Village Greek Salad. My husband's favorite is the veggie burger - the VF homemade veggie patty *chef's kiss* as he would say (or motion).  The inside of Valley Fresh is cute with its chalkboard, handwritten menu and tables if you want to eat there. There was also a shelf where they sell some chips, coffee bean bags, olive oil, etc. (I was eyeing the bags of Black Lion ELNA coffee and Agrino fava beans).  Glad to see Valley Fresh in the area; a good go-to for fast, fresh and tasty eats! read more

Just bit into the buffalo avocado wrap and that's not real chicken. Idk what that is but it is absolutely disgusting. Not white, looks like raw bacon but it's not raw bacon. And it was $12 with no fries. Scam. read more

Salads are amazing. Local and very delicious. They have a wide variety of options for a great salad. If you want a fresh salad, Valley Fresh is your spot! read more

Valley Fresh hummus was not so fresh, and gave me a stomach ache. First i thought they just added a lot of lemon, but then i realized it went bad. Everything else was good - the service, salad, tzatziki. Kabab with feta was a little heavy for me, but it's their speciality. I think in the beginning, the owner used to work there. Fast and healthier than other places, locally owned. Usually no line, even during lunch. I have other times had the smoothies or crepes. They also have a lot of grill items - burgers, Philly cheese steak, etc. Good soup and salad selection. read more

I originally ordered on Grubhub for pickup but realized that they have indoor seating open to dine in (self-serve), so my boyfriend and I decided to sit in and eat. We both ordered the Cobb Salad with an additional few dollars for the fried chicken, and also an order of waffle fries. While the cashier was nice and the interior was really clean and comfortable (hence the 3 stars), we were both unfortunately disappointed by the food and pricing. The Cobb Salad was kind of disappointing because it's price is a little steep for what's given. We added protein because we thought it wouldn't be enough for just a Cobb Salad but the addition of around $2-4 USD was a lot for what we received. The chicken was not fresh and didn't taste particularly great either, which was unfortunate because I really wanted to like it. Overall, I don't think the prices reflect actual quality of the food that we received at this place. I'm not sure if it just happened to be that day that the food wasn't good or if it's always like this, but even if that is the case, I'm not sure I will be returning to a restaurant with inconsistent quality and overpriced menu items. It's possible that other menu items may taste better, so maybe stopping by and picking up something else may be good if you really want to try this place! read more

This place cancelled our order without telling us. We show up and they give us surprised pikachu face when asking for our order. The reason ? "They couldn't make the order". Out of 6 meals couldn't even make 1? At the very least could have done a substitution. When you can't make a single meal from an order of 6 you shouldn't be in business. read more

Valley Fresh - Peeper steaks - American Near Me - West Orange, New Jersey

I got the buffalo chicken & avocado wrap and some waffle fries. The wrap was really good. It wasn't spicy, just a nice buffalo flavor. The fries were made very well and a good portion for a small. The food was brought out to our table pretty quickly and as the name says, it was all very fresh. The place looked nice, had a good amount of seating, and seemed to have a lot of food & dessert options. I'd go back for sure. read more

Today was my second and last time ordering from Valley Fresh. The food is mediocre- I picked them because they usually have a quick delivery time and my orders are pretty simple. I also think it's important to support local business, however this place misses the mark. Thus far, my orders have consisted of cheesesteaks, chicken wraps, and salads. There was nothing special about any of them- pretty regular tasting sandwiches and basic wraps/salad. But today's order which had 2 Avocado Buffalo Chicken wraps, was AWFUL! So bad, I took two bites and couldn't eat it- my mother didn't eat hers either. The chicken tasted bland and was mushy. It was like chopped chicken, but lots of fat and skin- no chunks of white meat. My first time having a chicken wrap from them had freshly cooked chicken in it, so I assumed all the wraps were the same. After all, they are Valley FRESH! I called Valley Fresh because it was inedible, and I was hoping they could replace the wraps with ones that had fresh chicken in it. I was put on the phone with the owner who apologized saying that the Buffalo chicken was a precooked item that they SCOOP OUT OF A JAR. They did not make it fresh in house. They said to ask for grilled chicken next time if I wanted that. I let them know that the menu descriptions did not it say the chicken would be chopped and not a fresh option. They should accurately describe their products. I would have never ordered that item if I knew what it was actually composed of. The buffalo chicken I was served was worse than something you'd get at Subway, where everything is processed and scooped out of a package. Disappointing for a place called Valley FRESH! Unfortunately the new wraps that arrived were mediocre. Flat-top cooked chicken (not grilled), but still bland and not good quality. They also did not follow my instruction of no sauce this time (sauce was bland). If it were my business I would have added a nice touch like free cookies or dessert as a way to say sorry, but nothing was provided. (Which is ok, I wasn't looking for it, but having been in the food industry for 6+ years I know what restaurants can do to please customers.) This experience put me and everyone in my household off to ordering from them again. read more

I recently tried Valley Fresh during my usual exploring of everything Yelp! It was a great idea as I ordered two things: Chicken Cobb Salad and Chicken Caesar Wrap with Onion Rings! Neither are traditionally on the menu but both were made especially for me Their tucked away in West Orange but don't drive too fast or you miss them. Close to Suzy Q's restaurant As the name says Valley Fresh they have a pretty healthy and wholesome menu! I would definitely return and did I forget to mention there is a lovely coupon on their page that will help make your decision that much easier. Happy Eating read more

The food is simple not good, the manger could care less about your complaint. Do your self a favor and not frequent this business.

Delicious food with exceptional service with a smile the food is not only healthy but it taste so good

This is more than a luncheonette with outstanding food. They are the definition of community! Chef and team provide elevated fresh eats, and constantly have an ever changing rotation of specials as well as a regular menu where you can customize and add based on your diet that week, or general preference. The entire team goes above and beyond to make you feel like you're part of the family. They also offer cost effective meal prep options, and full catering. The place is clean, and welcoming and stays packed around the lunch hour. read more

I wanted to wait a little bit before I gave a review because I didn't want to judge prematurely. AND..I'm glad I did because I love this place. We started trying them out pre-COVID and decided we liked it. My husband would get chicken tenders and fries and he was happy with that. Then COVID hit and we began working from home and that's where we started to try new things. My favorite is the gyro with fries. It's a lot of food so if you're starving that day, it's perfect. Our daughter really likes their fries. They're perfectly crispy and really tasty. But I also love that they have healthier options. The BBQ chicken salad is AMAZING. Right now, we're stuck on the Caesar Chicken Wraps with sweet potato fries. I love that the food is always delivered quickly with a smile behind a mask :-) or maybe they're smizing lol either way, our food is always hot and packed up really well! Thank goodness for this place because we'd be eating PB&Js every day and we've been there and done that and it ain't fun. read more

Was not impressed with the greasy tasting fries. Not to mention the chicken was suspect. Had to air fry them to get them crispier and also some of the red that was in the middle. Only giving them one star due to the burger being done right. First and last time trying this place. read more

This is a solid lunch and take out place. The restaurant, itself, is very inviting and clean. The menu is quite large with sandwiches, burgers, and salads. The staff is friendly and everytime I have been there, the owner is present which is quite rare to see these days. I have enjoyed their gyros and burgers the most off the menu. My only qualm is that they do not include fries with their sandwiches. You have to add them on to your order, which would make the meal above average as far as prices for lunch are concerned. I think they should consider making a small side of fries a part of each meal; just a suggestion. read more

Food was good I rate 2 star due to the poor service. My first visit I was not engaged or greeted as I noticed other customers were .. The young white women was extremely flirty and chatty with the male customers .. My second visit I waited in line when as It became my turn to order the same women (manager ) asked the male behind me for his order.. I will not go back because my dollars matter!!!! The flirty chatty manager should be better trained with all people not just men. read more

Terrible! Pictures posted. Burger is raw. No bacon, no avocado. Stingy with the soggy fries. Weird tasting vanilla yogurt with virtually no fruit. Crunchy rice pudding. When I spoke to them... they said they were saving money on containers. Bruh! I guess they are saving money on heat to cook the food too. (And with napkins, utensils, and everything else). They don't do remakes or refunds either. Bruh... run! Only bright side: apparently the blackened burger is delicious. So, if you MUST order from them, get that and plan to pick it up yourself. read more

It looks like the reviews are a bit skewed here because it seems Valley Fresh has changed ownership. I'm not exactly sure when, but my guess is around December 2018, so you can ignore the reviews before that. Maybe they should have changed names or requested a new Yelp page. That all being said I've been here a few times now and each time have had a great meal. My favorites have been the lamb gyro and meatloaf burger. The blackened burger was also quite tasty. The fries are also great. I always worry when ordering fries when taking out as they tend to get soggy, but these fries came nice and crispy and had a nice flavor to them. The staff is always very friendly and great you with a smile. This is going to be one of my go to places for takeout in West Orange. Enjoy. read more

Went on a friends recommendation. I saw the older reviews, but trusted his word and I am glad I did. I took my wife and 3 sons. Super casual counter service joint. Spotless clean (like mom clean) nicely decorated and the menu is very inclusive and reasonably priced. Turns out Mom is there, back in the kitchen and her son(an Eagle Scout) was working the register. Incredibly friendly explained anything on the menu we asked about thoroughly and he was excited to do so. Food came out quick and hot! Mozzarella sticks were good. Amazing Moussaka. The 50/50 burger is insane(half beef half bacon) so juicy!!! Buffalo wings with enough heat to be fun but not just for heats sake and a phenomenal lamb gyro. The baklava was like 3" tall a huge piece.crispy, with enough honey to be sweet but not a soggy mess. Apple pie was good and they heated it up for us. The boys like the fried Oreos. A solid meal, a reasonable price. We will be back. And we will bring friends! read more
