I went into the whole thing very apprehensive, having been one of those people who hadn't seen a dentist in a good decade or so. And it wasn't pretty. I needed a lot of work, some of which had to be outsourced to specialists in the area (shoutouts here to Dr. Schroeder at Riverside Endodontics and Dr. Ridenour at Winnebago Oral Surgery -- both excellent). What I'm trying to drive home is that none of this was smooth sailing for me, but Dr. Hanneman and the entire staff at Hanneman & Dustrude were all so kind, skilled, efficient, and helpful every step of the way that it honestly wasn't a bad experience overall. Plus, alleviation of the anxiety that comes with fearing for your oral health while being too scared to go see someone has taken a weight off my shoulders that's truly felt every day. The staff there works with your insurance and helps make it clear to you what's going to be covered and what you'll be required to pay. They're also always so nice when you call -- whether you've got a symptom you're worried about or want to check on an upcoming appointment time, they're always genuinely friendly, and it really makes a difference. The hygienists and assistants are so wonderful as well. You get the impression everyone there honestly enjoys their job and takes pride in giving great care to patients. I can feel that every time I visit (and I've visited quite a few times for just one year!) Oh, and they always let you watch TV (with sound via headphones) during a procedure so you can distract yourself or zone out -- you even get to hold the remote! Whether you're looking to switch from your current provider or finally buckling up to visit a dentist after some years away, I wholeheartedly recommend Hanneman & Dustrude.

The explanations of what was transpiring while under their care were easy to understand and appreciated. It ran exactly as expected, our insurance was given a pre authorization and we paid what was expected as our portion. Awesome, this was like every other dental procedure we have ever had (7 kids, already been through 2 sets of wisdom tooth extractions). They did this or the extraction, a $700 procedure, we paid our portion and it was good. Fast forward almost a year later it was time for the implantation portion. Didn't think anything of it, we had a scan for the procedure a few months before the actual surgery, we were not told anything about billing, we assumed it was going to be handled like the 1st surgery. Boy were we wrong, when we got the office we were required to pay for the procedure IN FULL!! Even though we have dental insurance, not only do we have dental insurance but it's one of the best plans available! I actually called my insurance while I was waiting and was told that even they recommend submitting a preauthorization so there are no surprises, obviously this office just wants to take the money, collect interest on it until they have to refund it. Even the insurance company was as thrown by this shady business practice as I was. As she proceeded with cleaning she talked with me so I wouldn't focus on the procedure ( talk of interest to me) She continued working without hesitations until completed. Dr.C.S. came ,explained what he would do &refreshed my memory of our last visit. The receptionist came in to answer questions that I had requested. The cleaning finished, Dr. C.S. returned & checked her work & checked to see if additional visits were needed. Within an hour :cleaning, new problems fixed, follow up visit scheduled, consultation on a procedure of interest to me, free tooth brush/floss. In about an hour + leaving confident that I had received the best possible care & that I was valued as a patient, "They work together like a fine greased machine." KEEP UP THE OUTSTANDING SERVICE
