10 Pc . Southern Fried Chicken Meal (Family meal) and Desserts
Tracy D.

I'd you grew up or are are local in Franklin Square, Valley's Caterers was a staple. I haven't gone in quite a while since I was still living with my parents, so we went back to pick up some food for dinner. The set up is very basic. There are three counters within in the store: the hot food, the deli and the desserts section. In the aisles they also have prepared frozen meals and other prepared single served items such a as salads, sandwiches desserts. Growing up we would always go toward a the family meals to bring home which was definitely plenty to feed a family of four. My parents go to was the rotisserie chicken family meal that came with a choice of two sides. The rotisserie chicken is very moist and delicious. They used to have these grilled vegetables I loved years ago, but I was bummed to see it wasn't a selection. The other go to we would usually get is the mashed potatoes and gravy. This time around, my husband wanted their fried chicken, so we bought the 10 piece family meal with two sides. The choice of sides we got creamed spinach and the macaroni and cheese. The chicken was fried very well while keeping the chicken moist. The max and cheese was okay, but nothing too special. A little extra pepper or spice will help elevate the flavor. The creamed spinach was just okay as well. It wasn't my favorite, but it also wasn't the worst I've had. We also picked up some desserts. I grabbed a slice of carrot cake which had the right amount of sweetness. My husband grabbed the cookies and creme pie slice which he enjoyed as well.

Their famous fried chicken. Overcooked.

I was looking forward to the food here but the experience did not live up to the hype. I ordered delivery and while it arrived early, I can see why. I ordered the 10 piece fried chicken family meal it came with 2 sides. We chose Corn on the Cob, sweet potatoes and added creamed spinach. Creamed Spinach would have been better if I went to Boston Market. The chicken was very dry and apparently overcooked. I regret not cooking tonight. The sweet potatoes should have been described as MASHED or Baby Food. Not good at all. Similar to hospital food. A weird taste. My daughter requested these and did not touch them. Corn on the COB. Was not on the cob. Merely canned corn with lots of water in the container. My daughter said " mommy there's too much water in the corn". Food was bland and not flavorful at all. Water literally from the corn now under a bridge. Clearly they don't value new customers.

Supposed ham; salami n swiss sub.

Do they not know how hero's and subs are made these days. Jeesh. Was too skimpy on the meat in the sub. It didn't even cover the bread end to end width wise not to mention length wise. I ordered ham, salami n Swiss and barley received enough meat if I ordered one meat. $11.25 for what. There are way too many dell's out there piling the meat on a subs for the same or cheaper prices. My usual go-to places make them where u can barely open you mouth wide enough to take a bite. Won't make this mistake again

Large selection of different types of food. Also caters to events. Friendly service and prices are fair.

Child's school was given cold and flavorless food to eat for a celebration. It was a true disappointment...

From the moment I first spoke with Vinny to when he checked in after the BBQ to see how everything went, every aspect of the process was flawless. The students loved the food, and the school administration team was impressed by the professionalism of the Tulip crew. Vinny worked closely with me to plan the perfect event, and his staff executed that plan to perfection. They were courteous, friendly, and worked amazingly well under pressure. When 325 hungry seniors came out for the BBQ, the Tulip crew was ready and able to serve them efficiently and with a smile. Great food, great people, and a great event. I tried to eat the entire sub but two bites out of the second half. I can't go no more; I can't go no more. The service is awesome and the cashier is very personable with stories and laughs. The other customers are very respectful and courteous. If I ever need to do a catering event, this is most definitely the place I will use. They know what they are doing here. Instead I got a bunch of blank stares looking like "excuse me, we have gossip to talk about and you're interrupting it" before another girl walked over very friendly asking how I was and what I'd like to order. Only got a French Toast bagel with butter & syrup & could feel the other girls not wanting me to be there. I was once young myself & had "friends" who worked there who were the center of drama in their circles, so it wasn't quite a shocker to me. I'm sure if any of the older ladies who were probably off for Mothers Day were there, the ship would have been ran a bit more tight. Also came home to my bagel barely having any butter or syrup on it which I could put more on myself, but for almost $4 it would be nice to have it be more filled.
