We've been a customer of PV Security for decades, which was bought by Valley Alarm and absorbed into their system years ago. Had assumed all these years that our house security was adequate but recently was horrified to experience that it very much was not, and more importantly, that the folks at Valley Alarm were not trained properly, made a ton of mistakes, and made for a very stressful holiday. The day before Thanksgiving, we received text alerts of a burglary - nothing else. No idea if this was a fake text or anything, as it provided minimal information (the title: BURGLARY) . Everything that transpired after was across the board an extremely negative experience: 1. I had to call Valley Alarm to get more info. Each time I called, I was on hold for at least five minutes - terrifying when you've just received a text saying BURGLARY. To add insult to injury, the hold music is an advertisement for VA saying that "agents will be on the phone in seconds." 2. I spoke to multiple agents, and none provided sufficient information or answer any of my questions adequately in a way that would reassure me. 3. Horrifyingly, I had to be the one to tell VA to CALL THE POLICE. They were supposed to have called me first, and immediately dispatched the police. Neither happened. In fact, when I called the first time, the agent was a very blase "oh, do you want us to call the police?" Uh YES. And then once that happened, they provided zero follow up information. I eventually found it easier to call my police station directly, and speak to the police via my neighbors. 4. ALL OF THIS WAS A FALSE ALARM. Valley Alarm NEVER provided an explanation of why we had received an alarm. The neighbors never heard the alarm, and when we had someone check the house, there was no sign of anything amiss. 5. After all of this (and before we were able to have someone enter our house) I called VA repeatedly to make sure that our alarm system was still actively armed. Every person gave me a non-answer in the form of double negatives: "well, if nobody has gone in to disarm the alarm, we can only assume it is still armed." Not only was this absolutely not reassuring, and felt like they were hedging their bets, it turned out to be completely incorrect - they just straight up had no way to tell, blaming us for having an old system (which they had never told us to change) and for not performing routine checks (which they had never told us to do). 6. 3x I had their "service technicians" call me to "provide more info" because the agents at the call center were proving to be completely useless. The first time a technician called, she literally started the phone conversation with "what do you want." I was never assured that our house was okay and that the alarm system was still working because none of these agents or technicians could provide straightforward information. I am just horrified with how badly this entire experience went across the board. Valley Alarm has admitted that there was a lot of human error after they looked into this experience, and I have never been more certain or faster in changing companies. I have a new system that provides me with way more information, and doesn't keep me on hold to speak to an agent. Absolutely stay away from Valley Alarm. read more

A seemingly nice sales rep visited my home and over a period of weeks, we agreed on a standard 3 year contract for alarm monitoring (although they tried to charge me well over industry standard for monthly fee and I negotiated that down), that included installation of a new system in our IT closet. The tech that visited for installation was seemingly competent, thorough and generally lovely to deal with. The next day, I realized that 2 of our 6 security cameras and Sonos system were suddenly not working. They were operational until the tech visited. I know this because my neighbors had asked me to pull footage the morning of service for something. Clearly something inadvertently happened during the install. Mistakes happen, that's OK. And worth noting that the sales rep and I had discussed during our onboarding that we'd like to have someone come out adjust the CCTV system as well. He emailed and quoted $200 for this. I then reported the problem and I was told that there is no way the tech could have created the problem. I must have done something wrong. I didn't touch the IT close because I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm smart enough to know what I don't know. Out of frustration, I agreed to pay $200 for them to come up, fix the cameras and make some other minor adjustments to the settings. But then without any further context, the next day, the rep sent me a contract for double the amount quoted. When I questioned the pricing, they emailed me back that I clearly didn't appreciate how complicated this was and they refused service altogether. Mind you, this is after I agreed to pay for something their tech had screwed up. I will honor my contract with them for alarm monitoring services, but I would strongly encourage prospective clients to explore other options. I reached out to Bob & Dave, who run Valley Alarm, several times by phone and email, and they will not take my call or respond. I'm a reasonable customer and rational actor and simply wanted to explain to the executive team what had happened, towards some kind of a solution. **Valley Alarm is not solution oriented. And they are a volume business that cares little about residential customers.** read more

Valley Alarm took over our alarm system monitoring after we had multiple bad experiences with our prior alarm monitoring company (We had them for 15 years, but they outsourced alarm monitoring to some third company in Utah that has been just horrible). We had Valley install a cellular alarm communicator to replace our land line. The overall monthly cost was lower, and we didn't have to replace our existing alarm system - just add the communicator. Their tech (Ormel, sp?) was very knowledgeable about our alarm system, and knew exactly how to reconfigure it for the cellular communicator and Alarm.com connection. The system is much more responsive using the Alarm.com app. I was referred to Valley Alarm by a friend of mine who used them for alarm monitoring in Orange County. read more
