He shared a lot of safety info and techniques that made me feel comfortable on the board. If you've wanted to learn but not sure, go for it! He eased us into how to do it right so it wasn't so intimidating. So much fun.

Prior to excursion, my friends and I had to reserve a spot on their website. The initial tour ended up being fully booked, however, James the guide offered open up another day due to the moon tour being so popular. The meeting area was at the boat launch ramp area. We signed waivers and were given a run down on kayaking 101 (it was our first kayaking excursion) with 4 other people. The weather was warm, the waters were calm and the mosquitoes were biting. So don't forget to apply sunscreen and have plenty of bug repellent! Wear water shoes, bring snacks and water. Also, maybe bring a small fanny pack or water resistant bag to carry small items in. As we paddled, James checked up on everybody and made sure we were all doing okay. Along the way he informed us about the wetlands and what type of wildlife were around. James even provided us with his own bug repellent to use to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Once it was dark enough, we settled in an area of the wetlands to wait for the moon to rise. My friends and I were elated and in awe that we got to see the Harvest moon rise on the hills whilst kayaking. Kodak moment for sure. The journey around Suisun Bay lasted for about 2 hours. It was a cool experience, especially with the moon acting as our guiding light. My arms definitely got in a work out from paddling so much. Overall, great experience, reasonably priced and James was professional and informative. Highly recommend!

I brought my 4 year old daughter to the dance class offered here. The instructor is Lorrie King-…read moreFirst of all, can I ask HOW is she even a dance instructor for this age group? My daughter was very shy to participate & Lorrie didn't show any kind of encouragement to my daughter. She is not very welcoming at all. She has a younger teen assistant that was more helpful. My daughter arrived 3 minutes late and the girls were in the middle of a dance routine. I walked up to Lorrie & apologized for being late & told her my daughter's name. My daughter was reluctant to join the group at first, and the instructor could have done a better job at welcoming her into the group- instead, the instructor continued the class while my daughter held onto me. My husband walked my daughter over to a spot in class to try to get her to dance along. Finally, Lorrie's younger assistant extended her hand to my daughter. At that point, my daughter joined in. Second of all, we were not informed of the proper shoes to bring- Immediately after the ballet portion, Lorrie announced to take out "jazz" shoes. I would appreciate it if we were given a list of proper shoes to bring prior to coming when we signed up for the class. I have attached an image of my receipt that DOES NOT INDICATE WHAT KIND OF SHOES TO BRING. Please refer to image uploaded... And last, the class that we paid for was scheduled from 5:30pm to 6:15pm, Monday evenings in November. However... At exactly 6:05pm, Lorrie announced that she needed to talk to the parents participating in the Winter show- and that basically ended the class. I asked the assistant "isn't the class supposed to end at 6:15pm? It's only 6:05?" Well, apparently Lorrie conducts other business agenda 10 minutes before class is scheduled to end because she supposedly has another class to teach afterwards. THAT IS NOT FAIR TO THE KIDS and we basically got RIPPED OFF because Lorrie shaved 10 minutes of dance time and was taken away from my daughter that wants to learn. Where does that leave the kids who are not participating in the Winter showcase? If the instructor continues this, we will lose 10 minutes of every class- which is 30 minutes total my daughter is missing out on. I'm very unhappy with this instructor. Her demeanor is not enthusiastic, welcoming and she doesn't smile but most importantly, Lorrie DOES NOT ENGAGE WITH THE KIDS. She even seems annoyed while she is teaching the dance routines. My daughter was getting warmed up and eventually participating with the other girls dancing, then Lorrie ends the class early. This REALLY upsets me, seeing my daughter having a good time, learning new dance techniques and all of a sudden, Lorrie cuts the class short to talk to the parents if the children in the Winter showcase. THAT WAS NOT FAIR. I request that Management or the Director, please speak to your dance instructor(s) (Lorrie specifically) on how to properly interact with such a young group of girls wanting to learn performing arts. Although my daughter is only 4 years old, it's important that learns the fundamentals early on. And if this program, along with Lorrie, cannot offer that, we will no longer attend these classes and will look elsewhere, and furthermore, I will NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM TO ANYONE ELSE.

Great program. Weekend classes for my kids are awesome.read more

However I held very…read morelittle hope of ever seeing it because it was my understanding that you never know when or where it'll ever appear. So when my wife mentioned that Napa Valley Paddle was doing a guided kayak tour though bioluminescent waters in Tomales Bay I had no choice but to book a trip. I've been kayaking exactly twice before and both times on lakes in broad daylight. So I was a little nervous about kayaking in a salt water bay in the dark. Hopefully the water is smooth and it doesn't get too choppy for my wife and I. Also, I had low expectations, maybe the plankton won't be there that night, and if it is, it's probably a very subtle glow that you almost have to use your imagination to see. When we arrived we found ourselves in a parking lot at the Miller Boat Launch in Marshall. We got some basic instructions on kayaking, given life vests and whistles and headlamps set to red light to wear backwards. It was all pretty laid back and chill. As the sun went away and the fog came in we paddled out to Hog Island and by the time we were close to it, it was dark enough that some people were beginning to see the water light up. Fortunately the water was very calm and it was comforting to see all the red headlamps on the water to guide us on our way. We paddked clear across the bay to the other side where there were cliffs making the water especially dark there. This is where we turned off all of our lights. There was no subtlety at all, it was nothing less than magical. The water lit up with every paddle and every splash. It was a smooth blue glow in the dark with occasional spatks mixed in. We spent a good while paddling around and splashing and generally bring awed by the trippy water. Then it was time to start heading back, the goal was to paddle around the other side of Hog Island where the water is also very fun to look at. However the water glowed the whole way there even. Unfortunately this is also when conditions changed. We had a nasty headwind and the water got choppy. We were seriously worried we might capsize as we paddled like crazy to get to the island again. When we finally got there, we were done. We just wanted was to get back to the car and go home and drink hot coacoa. So we kept on paddling as hard as we could while we struggled to keep the kayak heading in the right direction. People were starting to scatter and soon the only lights to follow were at the boat launch we came from. Whether that actually was the boat launch was debatable but it was the only indication of civilization so we kept heading in that direction. Maybe it was because we were heavier than anyone else or perhaps we just couldn't paddle very well but we lagged behind in the dark. To make things even more interesting the conditions continued to worsen. We had to fight the wind and the choppy water harder as we made that last leg of the paddle back to shore. Fortunately the lights we were aiming for did happen to be where we needed to land and although we missed the dock we did get to shore soaked but not dreched and we managed to actually make it without going into the drink. Needless to say, it became an adventure however no one could have predicted conditions would change like they did. Apparently under typical conditions we would have had a tail wind and that part of the trip should have been the easy part. A professional paddle boarder who was with our group told us those conditions were "insane" and it was not something she would have willingly attempted unless it was over a short distance in daylight. So we feel better about ourselves having a hard time making it back. I'm very glad we did this, it's a beautiful memory, and a great story to tell, and I highly recommend going.

Loved talking with Drew beforehand, learning about wetland restoration efforts and how quickly nature can rebound. The slough was peaceful and sparkling on this sunny October afternoon. We observed cranes and fish nibbling at surface snacks. In the distance, you can see Mount Tam and a bit closer--the Brazos railroad bridge. While there is much to see and do in Napa, this experience at the end of our trip was a definite highlight.
