Carquinez bridge in the distance..
T F.

A sunny Sunday afternoon....the best way to welcome spring/summer is hitting the park with the family. We are still fairly new to Vallejo so I did what most people do nowadays and Googled it! Glen Cove Waterfront Park popped up...the pictures online looked really nice so we followed Google directions and found basically the backend of the park which is nestled deep in the Glenn Cove area of Vallejo. First impression wasn't much, the parking is pretty non-existent in the area we were at so be prepared to park in the little turnabout area or on the residential street. A helpful jogger informed us we were at the very back of the park which was mainly used for it's running trails. She told us that the main entrance was another freeway exit up and that she thought they charged for parking. We decided to stay put and walked up the trail a ways until we came to a picnic bench...upon closer inspection we noticed wormy bugs crawling all over it so we moved on and decided to lay blankets out on the grass. We did not see any bathroom facilities while we were there. I don't recommend this backend part of the park for family picnics or outings unless all you want to do is walk. It's really not set up for anything more. The view was gorgeous...the trail follows the shore. A ship lazily floated by, we could see the Carquinez bridge in the distance...peaceful and quiet. Some people were playing in the water but it looked a little too dirty to me. This end of the park isn't for family shindigs but it is nice as just a walking/jogging trail. I'll update my post once I visit the "main entrance"...hopefully it's more family friendly then this section of the park.

Here's skunks being fed catfood, taken June 25th 2017. The skunks spray dogs people walk around here. My friends dog was sprayed twice.

People feeding cats here are causing skunks by the dozens to walk around spraying dogs. Glen cove marina was made aware of this issue but they don't do anything about it. If you complain as a resident of the marina, they kick you out citing petty, made up reasons.

I like this place especially for the beach. We bring our dog here to play in the water. Very quiet park with few people so it's great. Beautiful views of the Carquinez strait. There are some good trails here for running or walking and the park has some BBQ grills.

Granddaughter loved her time here. I have not ever been here for as long as I have lived in town…read more What a nice hidden gem for the kids. The entrance is like walking through a castle to a whole new world gated inside. It was clean, grassy, huge and open spaces with different areas to play for the kids. There are benches and picnic tables everywhere too. They also have restrooms on site too. Lots of grassy and shady areas to hang out as well. Our grandbaby had a great time running everywhere to her hearts content and she cannot wait to go back again with her parents.

And I do not say that lightly. As soon as you enter through the castle doors, you are transported into a mini Disneyland found in Vallejo, CA. As someone who was raised in this city, I did not expect this. This park truly Wow'd me for several reasons. One, the uniqueness of the play structures. There's a handful of them including a tea cup/ tea pot area, train station and train, pirate ship, pumpkin carriage and more. Our personal favorite; the tea cup with the connected slide, so fun!! My family and I easily spent two hours here. You can also book some spots for parties. I highly recommend checking out the GVRD's website. Theres shaded gazebos and many picnic tables. They even have story time and other events here. Theres a parking lot available and hours as well. They are closed on Tuesdays. 100 out of 10 recommend this park.

There are plenty of different places to park to access the waterfront, there are many parking lots and street parking. There is plenty of room to ride your bikes but if you're with children on a nice sunny Saturday it can't be pretty busy. There are also plenty of different restaurants along the walk, from Sardine Can and Zio Fraedos closer to Mare Island. Then at the ferry station, there's The Mare Island Tap room, and Panama Bay coffee. It's a pretty safe area and lots of grass space for people to have picnics and hold workout classes or play team sports like football. Sometimes there are large outdoor events in the area. If you still play Pokémon go, this used to be a major Poke stop. The Vallejo Waterfront is definitely a nice place to see the sunset and a good place to get some fresh air, you'll also see people fishing every once in a while.

A large field for soccer games. Lots of parking. Restrooms and water fountains. Play structures for children. I considered buying a house in this area partially for this park. The dog park is separated into two areas which are not connected. The small dog park is very flat and down some steps or a slope from the restroom picnic area. The large dog park is to the left and goes on a hill. The large dog park has two paved paths. One is like a switch back. The other goes straight up the hill. There's water fountains for the dogs at both the top and bottom of the park. There are also two double gated entrances. The park has some agility structures at the top of the hill, some metal benches throughout, waste bags and trash bins. The landscaping is mostly dirt/bark. There are plenty of trees in the park so the dogs to sniff. It's a great park for the sniffari type of dogs. It's also quite large! It's great for getting your steps in to walk up and down the paths. Most of the people I've met there have been great. On one occasion I have seen a dog walker bringing in 10+ dogs at once... The only words of caution I have would be to dress for the wind and in the summer I have witnessed a snake in the dog park.

The only downside is no matter what because of the location expect high winds at almost all times of the year and day. One of the greatest things I love about this park and I hope to preserve is how clean it is . Rarely as their trash scattered and almost always the parties pick up after themselves where they can meaning they put their stuff and bag it up and put it in the trash or take it out to the dumpsters. This matters when you have a community space ! there's also bulletin boards throughout that show when the parks are reserved for events or when the tables have reservations for parties. (to book reservations or parties you do it directly through the Fairfield rec and parks website.) Last but not least they have a shared book library . It's been there for about three years now I believe.
