They have a nice selection of salt water fish but they also had some pretty sick fish that should have been quarantined in hypo saline and copper-dosed tanks. A lemon peel angel was lying on its side gasping which is not a good sign. Their corals looked ok with some interesting euphyllia and a few encrusting types of LPS and SPS. I'd definitely want to quarantine and dip anything bought here but then that's advisable always. read more

Came here since Albany Aquarium unfortunately closed. Came here in the past and thought it was okay, but it looks like it changed ownership. Saw several tanks with dead fish which had not been scooped. The saltwater fish and the bigger fish all looked beautiful it was the smaller stuff which seemed unhealthy. The Nerite snails and ghost shrimp were just terrible. The Ghost Shrimp were kept in a dark tank over in the corner and their bodies laid in a massive pile. I get it these are seen as feeder animals and cheap but they are still living things. I did not see any Nerites moving or attached to anything all were laid down on their side and tucked in their shell. Dead? Maybe. I came looking for Nerites so I decided to leave and move on to the next store. read more

I was pretty distressed today as I could not get my Fluval Canister Pump/Filter to work for my turtle of 22 years last night. He has been with me for 21. I called several aquarium/pet store vendors from Fairfield to El Cerrito today and was fortunate to speak to Hong at Vallejo Aquarium about a part I thought was the culprit. He stocked the part and offered to look at my pump. I took the whole contraption to him and he took time (while the store was extra busy and he did not feel well) to check it out thoroughly. He showed me how nothing was broken and showed me proof by showing me the replacement part I did not need to buy afterall. What a dreamboat Hong is and the rest of the staff at Vallejo Aquarium seems as helpful. I pray businesses such as these will always be here. Lower prices from Amazon are inferior to the kind human value only a person who cares can give. read more

A great local fish and aquarium supply store. They have a good selection of fresh and saltwater stock. I don't know much about saltwater aquarium keeping but there seems to be a good variety of both reef community fish and invertebrates, and also some of the other non-reef safe saltwater fish as well. They also have two large tanks with coral, and one smaller tank by the cash register with some deals on smaller frags. They also sell salt water and live rock, and I believe live sand. But I don't keep saltwater fish so that's all I can say about that. There are also several well decorated and stocked display tanks that showcase both fresh and saltwater communities which displays the care they have for their own fish. Which is very important to me, since their displays are clean and clear and the fish look healthy and thriving it makes me confident in their advice. In terms of freshwater fish they have a large selection of cichlids, goldfish, koi, and community fish, as well as oddballs and the kind of fish that get big if that's your thing. They also stock lots of tanks (both new and second hand), equipment, substrate, decorations, fish meds, supplements and maintenance supplies. The staff and owner are knowledgeable, kind, absolutely willing to help- and honest. If I ask someone a question and it's not their specialty they tell me to ask someone else. That's important to me. They are pretty responsive on social media if you have questions, and have helped me out of a jam on more than one occasion. Overall this is an excellent fish store with wonderful people who will help you keep your tanks stocked and help you with every bump along the way. read more

Visited the store for the first time yesterday (crossing the bridge is a pain) and this store is worth the visit. The prices are EXCELLENT but so is the quality. This is one of the few stores that really have a balance of Saltwater and freshwater livestock for everyone in the hobby which is great to see. No sick fish in any of the tanks and they all look healthy. Their coral selection also really nice as they have something for everyone. Owner and staff are very hospitable and made me want to shop there without me feeling like I'm at a car dealership.
