The "hand trained bird" that is scared of hands and never sings
    Emily E.

I've waited a year to write this review to allow time for me to calm down. I went to get a parakeet a year ago so mine would have a friend. I bought my first from Petco for $30 and spent a few months hand training him, so it seemed like a great idea to buy a real "hand trained one." It was clear the bird I bought was from a breeder, not the owners. So I made this 2 stars with the hope and belief that the owners have better standards than their breeders. They didn't have a box or cage for me to buy or use to take her home, so they found one eventually and poked holes in it and handed her to me. $90 seemed expensive but I was ok with paying for the "hand training" I brought her home and bought a second cage for her to get acclimated for about a month or two with my other bird. It was clear she was terrified of hands. And she never makes any noises, the complete opposite of my first bird. About a month later my first bird got sick and died suddenly. I assume because the other bird was sick, he was only 8 months old. Now it's been a year and the bird just sits in the cage, silently. Never chirping, never climbing on my finger. If you're looking for a parakeet, go to Petco. They are great. Big birds, may be good here, I hope - bc they are expensive! I'd shop around and spend a lot of time interacting with the bird, the color of its droppings etc.

Paid 500 for a bird plus I paid 200 for vip shipping. Then I had to insure my bird for 1000$. An hour later I'm being told I have to pay 1300 or they won't release my bird. I have asked for a refund multiple times since I never actually got the bird.

As someone new to working with breeders, I had a lot of questions, and Andrea patiently answered every single one--from puppy care and feeding schedules to vaccinations and supplies. She was incredibly communicative and responsive throughout the entire process, even sharing video clips of the puppies so I could get a sense of their personalities before committing. When it came time for the final payment, there was an unexpected hiccup with bank fraud verification that sent me into a bit of a panic, but Andrea was completely understanding and patient while it got sorted out. That grace under pressure meant a lot during what was already an emotional time for me. She followed up after I brought Mochi home to check how she was settling in, offered helpful tips on crate training and treats, and has continued to be a supportive resource. My little Mochi is healthy, happy, and absolutely wonderful. I couldn't be happier and would wholeheartedly recommend Crystal Garden Yorkies to anyone looking for a Yorkshire Terrier from a caring, professional, and genuinely kind breeder.

That compassion was so appreciated, and it made an emotional process feel supportive and right. When we met Jasper and two of his litter mates, we were honestly amazed at how calm, sweet and well-adjusted they were. You could tell they were used to being handled, loved, and gently exposed to everyday life. It's clear that comes from the amount of time and focused care Andrea puts into raising them by hand. Jasper settled into our home so easily and has the most even, loving temperament. We really believe that's a direct result of the strong, nurturing start he got. We're very grateful not just for a wonderful puppy, but for the care and heart Andrea puts into what she does.

Our sires and dams have been DNA tested to be free of any genetic abnormalities and known genetic issues that are common to Golden Retrievers. Our puppies are raised in our home and socialized to people at an early age. They live in our family room, the hub of our home, for the first several weeks of life and are held and handled daily and given a lot of stimulation to promote healthy development, trust in being handled, and love of human interaction. We begin noise training at an early age to a variety of sounds including vacuum, lawn mower, blower, television, kitchen noises, as well as parrot and chicken noises. They also get exposed to other sounds of nature through dog tv videos featuring dogs, squirrels, birds, and other animals as well as other nature shows played on the tv daily in the family room for the enjoyment of our own dogs as well as the pups. House training is started while still in the whelping pen capitalizing on puppy's basic instinct to not soil their sleeping area. Positive reinforcement is used to encourage positive behaviors. Pups are exposed to age appropriate toys as baby teeth are growing in, to allow them to explore and gain exposure through mouthing different textures.
