They will contact you once you are approved. Our dog is already chipped and neutered and they sent us away with a little food and a free veterinarian exam. So we have an appointment to establish a local veterinarian. The place is well run, the staff is nice, and the animals are well cared for. I would recommend checking them out. They have stat sheets on all the animals.

The lady at the front desk asked us some questions but had an attitude since the start. After we handed the dog over and were literally leaving almost to our car, a lady chased after us and asked in a rude attitude, "Are you sure that's not your dog" I said no and asked why would I lie, and she responded with attitude saying, "Because people do it all the time" I understand they probably deal with difficult situations but there was no reason to treat people trying to help a lost dog like we were doing something wrong. Was by far a horrible interaction and what made it worse is that this isn't the first lost dog I've brought here, and I've never been treated this way.

Every interaction has been very pleasant so far! The volunteer dog walkers have been great! One time I got lazy and flagged someone down asking if they'd be able to take a bag of pet supply donations. They happily accepted helped me out! If you visit their front office they have some items available to purchase for a suggested donation. They have lots of good condition leashes, dog doors, treats, birthday pup pies, etc. I've seen dog ramps and other things. It's worth a shot to swing by if you don't have any hang ups about gentle used goods. I was able to get a new unopened boxed pup pie and four bags of bark box treats for $3 each! And it goes to a good cause too! They even have some non-pet items like artwork from local artists! I also recommend checking out their auctions! You could potentially get a very good deal. They often have winery donations. I got an introductory paragliding lesson voucher worth $250 for only $120! Sometimes they have even bigger prizes like a week long timeshare stay in Hawaii! And of course it's a great cause. They do so much work to help the animals of Vallejo! I've never seen as many strays dogs as I have when I lived in Vallejo. I'm sure they're constantly overwhelmed but still maintain a good attitude.

The staff were friendly and informative when we asked questions about her. They were very helpful throughout the process. You can tell that the staff loved her. I felt the adoption fee was COMPLETELY fair considering my adult dog was neutered, chipped and up-to-date on all of his shots + flea/tick meds due to this facility, plus they housed and fed him the entire time he was up for adoption. Everything about the process was transparent and I could tell the staff do actually care about the animals. Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We had the pleasure of meeting Wendy Bello, the new director of the wildlife center in Suisun, a…read morefew days ago. That morning we found a mama possum who very recently died in front of the nest she prepared for her babies. She had been injured. We called the center and spoke with Mike (I think that was his name). I was prepared for a negative and rude response as I had received in a previous call a few years back when calling about an injured bird. Instead, Mike was concerned and asked me to bring the baby possums right in. I was not prepared for this kind and caring response so I continued to advocate on behalf of the possum babies. He was very kind and again encouraged me to bring them in. When we arrived, Wendy was expecting us and immediately took charge. She confirmed that the mama was recently deceased and checked the pouch for any babies. She then checked the nest as we had brought in the entire nest thinking that there were only 4 babies hidden. Wendy found 11 babies. She had already set up an area for them to be placed in the center. Meanwhile she provided great information on possums and the wildlife center. She also provided information on the plan of care. It was truly an amazing experience and my heart was lifted knowing the babies were in such great hands. We were a 16 year foster for them and while they mean well they have a single paid employee who is…read moreoverwhelmed which means not all dogs get the care they deserve. Communication is lacking, they are slow to respond to requests and at times you as a foster are on your own. That makes it hard, because we all want what's best for the dogs but in doing that we let the rescue off the hook and do their job for them which just reinforces what's wrong. Maybe they will get back on track, but we will no longer foster for them.
