I adopted a great dog and got a huge ball of fur for free! Winning!

What an experience! The stars aligned and magic happened! Thank you to SCAC for taking care of my little man until his destiny could be fulfilled! Your staff was friendly and helpful from the start to finish!

Grim Reapers for animals here. This friendly cat was abandoned behind my apartment building. I was told this shelter had vets on staff, so I MISTAKENLY believed professional eyes would assess him. I've been in this field 25 years and even founded a TNR nonprofit, so I know well the difference between a feral cat, and a timid abandoned house cat. These people apparently do NOT. They left this poor cat in a cage for a week, then chopped off his junk and his ear, and the RETURNED HIM TO THE STREETS AS A FERAL without ever bothering to work with him. This is an "animal shelter " that clearly is clueless about cats. Tell me... does this cat look feral? They are awful. Doom for animals. They clearly have zero understanding of animal behavior. I mean, I would also hiss if I were treated as poorly as the animals here !

On 12/28/22. We went to checkout a sweet puppy that looked like he could be a sibling to our dog at home. We fell in love instantly! He was a little bundle of energy the whole day and for like 3 straight days lol thank goodness we now how it goes after having had lots of puppies growing up. We've been training Bolt and getting him used to all the people and he's doing fantastic in our home. There was a little bit of a medical issue following the days after we adopted him, but I called the shelter and they immediately had me bring him in and prescribed him meds and acted so swiftly! I loved this place and completely recommend going there for yourself and checking out the sweet pups they have.

Ziggy, home, bathed, fed, & feeling pretty darn good!

I drove for over 2 hrs to look at a young male on their site. He had an "Act Quickly" notification above his photo. This shelter moves animals in & out quickly & there's no doubt it's because they only have a certain amount of room. I was in & out w/my new dog in 45 minutes. In that time 3 people came to surrender animals. I wouldn't blame the shelter for a short list for termination when people surrender dogs for all the wrong reasons, all day long, every day. People are the guilty ones. Shelters do what they can considering limited resources. The staff was friendly & delighted that I was taking home the little guy. I told them I would take him sight unseen & they moved quickly to execute the details. Because I'm a renter, they phoned my landlord to check adoption approval. Good! The dog handler gave me some good tips on the way out since the little one is still a wild buckeroo. "Ziggy" is adjusting very well & has a loving home until his time on earth is done. I would recommend this shelter for anyone wanting to save a life & find a wonderful companion.

Typically people hear shelter and think "cold, lonely, depressing, cages, death, lost...". I'll admit I was one of those people until about two years ago. I started working in animal welfare and wanted to make sure any recommendations I offered were well informed. I started making connections and some of them were at our local shelter. I now count those connections among my dear friends and can tell you with absolute certainty: this is not most shelters. They are adoption guaranteed, that means no adoptable animal is euthanized to make space. Friendly animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome here with open arms. Not only does the staff lavish the residents with attention but they work with so many rescues that they run out of adoptable animals from time to time. Their Cattery is warm and inviting. The walls are painted to comfort the animals and they have three recreation rooms full of toys and sun for resident tummies. Their kennel is clean, full of soft beds, and they have multiple play yards for exercise. Let's not forget their foster program. I count myself among their outstanding fosters. From bottle feeders to those who help with socialization. Last, but absolutely not least is the kindest staff I have ever met. These aren't just people who work for the county, they are animal lovers and advocates.

That morning we found a mama possum who very recently died in front of the nest she prepared for her babies. She had been injured. We called the center and spoke with Mike (I think that was his name). I was prepared for a negative and rude response as I had received in a previous call a few years back when calling about an injured bird. Instead, Mike was concerned and asked me to bring the baby possums right in. I was not prepared for this kind and caring response so I continued to advocate on behalf of the possum babies. He was very kind and again encouraged me to bring them in. When we arrived, Wendy was expecting us and immediately took charge. She confirmed that the mama was recently deceased and checked the pouch for any babies. She then checked the nest as we had brought in the entire nest thinking that there were only 4 babies hidden. Wendy found 11 babies. She had already set up an area for them to be placed in the center. Meanwhile she provided great information on possums and the wildlife center. She also provided information on the plan of care. It was truly an amazing experience and my heart was lifted knowing the babies were in such great hands. They are back on my donations list Much love and appreciation to the Suisun Marsh Wildlife Center

This rescue ALWAYS does what is in the best interest of the kittens and cats. The volunteers do a great job of not only preparing the cats for being members of a family, but they also help the community in untold ways. I adopted a barn cat from them that had to be rehabilitated, and she and I get along perfectly. She is my little buddy and barn supervisor. Rachel really knows what she's doing when it comes to cat behavior and fear free training. I've been super impressed with her desire to go above and beyond in helping people manage behaviors and keep their cats when a problem behavior has cropped up even when it wasn't one of her adoptions.

I completely understood the second part of the response explaining the shelter kill rates near me in SJ which is less than 1.5 hrs away (which I replied to stating that I appreciated them letting me know), but honestly the first half of the response didn't feel helpful at all / was very off putting, and I really would've appreciated a more professional response given the description given... For anyone looking to adopt these adorable kittens, please know they must go together - I had specifically stated that there were already 2 kittens in my household that the kitten could've bonded with. 2 stars still because I'm happy and thankful for the work the rescue does, but I think customer interactions could definitely be a bit more kind.
