My fur baby (left ear after surgery by Dr Goh)
Nona C.

Awesome, friendly people! Great service. My GS Rotty mix had a left ear hematoma that didn't heal after taking her to her normal vet. Seems the original vet only wanted to charge me for drainage, patch and meds. Then charge again for surgery (since they knew the ear would not heal w/o surgery). Dr Goh at AFC not only drained the hematoma but also repaired my dog's ear to where it won't fill with blood nor fluid again. Thank you Dr Goh for your attention and care for my fur baby!!! She's a sweet girl and is loved. The AFC has staff that love animals!!!

DIY cone of shame

The entire experience from beginning to end was good. Reserving the spay date and time online is very convenient. There is a number to call if you have questions which you can leave on an answering machine and they get back to you or communicate via email. There is an entire process for checking in on the day of and picking up post procedure. It all happens outside and it is there that you will meet any of the staff and sign papers, in their large parking lot. Directions are given by email and if you read everything all the way through and follow the directions it will all come together well. The clinic has it all figured out. They need a well run system as they do quite a few procedures on these surgery days. I didn't hear from the clinic when they were done with the procedure. You were just suppose to show up at the pick up time along with everyone else. Luna's procedure went well and her incision and stitches looked good. There wasn't any redness, swelling or drainage. Luna was given pain meds and antibiotics for recovery. I was given a number to call if there were problems and or questions. I did not need to call because there weren't any problems. I never met the vet that operated on Luna, but the staff were very courteous and helpful from beginning to end. I would highly recommend Animal Fix Clinic.

His incision after surgery

1st impression: I can't express how grateful I am for Animal Fix Clinic! I reached out to them the same day to ask about a colopexy surgery for my cat, and they responded immediately. Not only did they reply quickly, but they also squeezed me in for an appointment this weekend on Sunday, something no other clinic was able to do. I had contacted multiple clinics, but Animal Fix was the only one that truly came through for me. So far, everything has been great, the staff is kind, understanding, and genuinely cares about the well-being of animals. I can't wait for my cat to finally get relief from his pain. Huge thank you to the team for their fast response and compassion! Highly recommend them to anyone in need of urgent care for their pets. AFTER surgery: I cannot express enough gratitude for Animal Fix Clinic and Dr. Goh! After visiting MANY hospitals across the Bay Area, I kept hearing the same thing--they had to *find* a surgeon and see if anyone would agree to perform my cat's surgery. That uncertainty made me incredibly uncomfortable, especially given how critical his condition was. But the moment I reached out to Dr. Goh, everything changed. She immediately reviewed his records, confidently assured me she could perform the surgery, and even provided a set date--something no other hospital could do. While other places were still figuring out which surgeon *might* know how to, Dr. Goh already had a plan. That's why I chose her 100% from the start, and looking back, I am so glad I made that decision. Dr. Goh wasn't just an incredibly skilled surgeon--she was compassionate, thorough, and quick to act. When your pet is in critical condition, every second counts!! she understood that better than anyone, no unnecessary testing or steps with her, She even put me on standby to ensure my cat would get surgery as soon as possible. Before the procedure, he was in unbearable pain, barely moving. Less than 24 hours later, he was up, walking, having regular bowel movements, and back to his normal self--it was truly unbelievable. I also have to give a huge thank you to the entire staff, especially Erin and the nurses, who went above and beyond. The front desk team was incredibly informative, and the level of care from start to finish was unmatched. Unlike other hospitals that only focus on what you're paying for, Dr. Goh and her nurses genuinely cared about my cat's overall health, even recommending important vaccinations that others overlooked. Finding Animal Fix Clinic at the last minute was the best thing that could have happened. There is truly no other place like this if your cat is in critical condition and needs surgery, this is where you need to go. I'm forever grateful for their care, expertise, and kindness.

Milo post-surgery

Amazing people who took great care of my Min Pin Milo! I got very exact information to follow pre-surgery and post-surgery, and the whole process was smooth. Payment was easy as well and pricing made procedure affordable. Everyone I talked to was kind, professional and compassionate. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog in clinic's care, and I usually feel very anxious when it comes to him. Procedure itself was the least invasive, and my dog started to heal quickly with no complications. Thank you!

Foster kitten after amputation
Blimp L.

I took my foster kitten here for a rear leg amputation. The staff I communicated with by email were very helpful and got me the soonest available appointment. The pricing was also very clearly communicated and reasonable. I like that the vet examined the cat and came and talked to me about her findings and plan before the procedure. I felt like all of my questions were answered. The vet came out and talked to me at pick up time as well. Appropriate pain medications were prescribed, and staff followed up with me via email a few days later to see how the kitten was doing, which I really appreciated. I actually took a mom cat and her kittens here in 2015 to have them fixed and vaccinated etc (they became my cats). That was my first time getting involved with cat rescue, and this clinic was great back then too. I highly recommend Animal Fix Clinic!

It's cliche, but if I can give them 10 stars, I'd give them 15! This place is amazing, and it's due to ALL the employees there from the people who check us in, the amazing nurses, and of course, Dr.Goh! It can be stressful for a pet owner to leave your babies in someone else's hands, but they alleviate those fears with their calm and caring demeanor. It was very reassuring. We traveled to Richmond from The South Bay so they told us that they'd take our dogs first to make sure we don't hit traffic adding to our babies anxiety...we were on the road home by 1:30p. So thank you guys so much for your consideration and for making a big deal with the smallest details. Our dogs were sent home with brand new harnesses, not saying everyone gets one, but it's their caring nature for their clients and fur babies that they treat. A day later, Dash and Boy Boy are doing well and thankful for finding a clinic run by angels. I highly highly recommend this clinic. Although I wish there were more places like this, I'm glad there is not because they deserve all the business and success as it's well deserved.

I have no proof that the puppy was given any of the promised medical attention I was supposedly reimbursing. In addition, the fee was to take care of the neutering later. Come to find out, it can only be through their contact in San Pablo. This is really far for us, we are in Sonoma County, and will be taking him to our vet for the procedure in a few months. Bartonella in Cats Transmission: Spread among cats primarily by the cat flea (Ctenocephalides Felis). Symptoms: Most infected cats show no signs of illness, acting as carriers. In rare cases, they may experience temporary fever, lethargy, or swollen lymph nodes, particularly if stressed or immunocompromised. It is CONTAGIOUS and they must be kept away from other animals and for humans you must not let them scratch you. Cat Scratch Fever (Disease) in Humans Symptoms: Develops 1-3 weeks after a scratch or bite, typically causing a small, red bump at the site, followed by swollen, tender lymph nodes, fever, headache, and fatigue. Severity: Usually mild and self-limiting in healthy people, though it can cause serious complications (heart or neurological issues) in those with weak immune systems. Bartonella can also cause severe, chronic inflammation in cats leading to eye issues and, in some cases, blindness, as well as neurological symptoms which would explain Keea's eye issues and the fact she has trouble using back legs. Firstly, overall I think that all vets and vet techs are amazing humans for caring so much about animals. I understand that vets deal with a lot of volume and urgency and frantic people - so I'm trying to be as understanding as possible, but we didn't have a great experience. Here goes: A semi-feral cat we feed showed up after disappearing for several weeks. His eye was bloody and gouged. We brought him to El Sobrante Vet for the eye injury and general exam. Before the visit, we clearly warned that he was a semi-feral community cat, unneutered, frightened and should not be released from his carrier without being prepared. Despite this, the carrier was opened. The cat panicked, scaled the walls, knocked items over, jumped onto my back. We were moved to another room, where the same approach was repeated, with similar results. They were unable to weigh him or complete an exam. The vet gave him an antibiotic shot, prescribed two types of antibiotic eye drops, gapabentin and advised that if we couldn't administer them six times a day, the eye would likely need removal - though there was a chance of saving it if we could manage the drops. We took him home, placed him in a recovery enclosure, and despite the initial protest, I was able to administer the drops successfully 6x/day. (By the third day, he tolerated the process and I could even hold his face while doing the drops.) Getting a refill of the drops was difficult. I know clinics are overwhelmed, but time was critical if we were going to even have a chance to save the eye. I did have to skip a day of drops because we couldn't get them in time (I requested them 3 days before they ran out) My husband ended up going in person to get the drops because the prescription was slow to get filled. Admin backup - I totally get it. Luckily, they did have them on hand, and they were really nice about it. Getting his record also took several days. As the eye continued to worsen, we scheduled surgery at another clinic to get him in sooner (than at a community clinic). During this time, Animal Control arrived at our home without any prior communication from the vet's office. We only learned from the AC guy that the vet had been bitten during the initial visit- something never disclosed to us. When we'd asked if she was okay immediately after the fiasco, I distinctly recall that she brushed it off and said she was fine. This experience was very traumatic to me. Initially I just saw a man in a black padded vest and thought it could be ICE. (I'm a US born citizen but I'm not white) And then I thought did they send us home with a cat they thought had rabies? All of this could have been fine and understood if it had just been communicated by the vet's office. The cat was placed on rabies quarantine, forcing us to delay his surgery. Animal Control assessed him quickly and agreed he did not appear rabid, but quarantine was still required legally. He had to come back and check again and sign off that the cat did not have rabies after quarantine. I think that proper handling protocols and better communication could have mitigated how this situation all went down. This experience was traumatic for everyone. The anxiety this vet experience caused me was off the rails. Again, I don't fault El Sobrante Vet for being busy, and I do think they care about animals. I also think they're nice people. But they didn't handle this cat well and most of all their communication with us was very poor. If you have a fearful cat, this isn't the best vet office for you. Needless to say, we're not going back there even for our more docile house cats. And if you're curious - Cookie the semi-feral is healing up well after his eye removal (done and neutered at a different clinic), is pettable, calm, purring and we are thinking about adopting him instead of releasing him back into the community.
