I've had ongoing issues with Petco when it comes to grooming appointments. There's little to no follow-up from staff, and I've repeatedly had to deal with rescheduling due to poor communication, which makes planning frustrating. That said, when my dog is actually groomed, the staff does a great job. They're gentle, patient and clearly caring, and my dog genuinely enjoys being there. If the appointment scheduling and follow-up were more reliable, the experience would be much better overall. read more

Overall, the store is fine and the groomers do a decent job! However, the checkout process for grooming should be reconsidered. When picking up my dog, I was asked to pay for the service before they brought her out. At the register I was asked if I wanted to leave the groomer a tip. I had to let the cashier know that I hadn't seen my dog yet, so I couldn't choose a tip amount. I like to tip on services, but I'm not going to tip for grooming before seeing my dog and making sure there weren't any issues. The groomers would receive more/better tips if the pickup process was adjusted. read more

Terrible experience. Made an appointment for my dog's shots at their Vetco. Had a 3:10 appointment and was 10 minutes early like they asked. They seemed extremely overbooked. The lobby was full and they sent me and a young lady to stand in the isle outside in Petco. Stood out there a while and noticed none of the dogs in front of me were even being called in, so I left. Our previously pet free home now has a dog as a resident! My stepson and his 74 pound German Shepherd, Max joined our household recently. While we are now head over heels in love with Max, he arrived needing a bath and a haircut, so I booked a grooming appointment at PetCo. Brittany did a GREAT job! Max emerged shiny, fluffy, beautifully groomed. She was even able to trim his toenails (which he really doesn't like.) The staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Terrible customer service, rude, the tall girl dismissed the fact that I called to let them know I was four minutes late for my appointment and when I mentioned it that I had call she was rude, without even taking a second to listed. I mentioned that I'd be calling their corporate she said she didn't care. How can people work in a place where the customer is not even listened or allowed to speak to them. I will be calling corporate in the morning because as a business manager and a dog owner I surely would never want to my customers to be treated without respect and dignity. Tried to buy oatmeal shampoo and conditioner for my dog. At $19 a bottle, it seemed pricey so I check Amazon. Both bottles (same bottle, brand and size) on Amazon are $10 cheaper in total... I asked them to price match. They said no, we only price match Petco.com I asked why would it be cheaper on petco. They said because they want you to buy it off online and not from the store. WTF? They are correct, the petco.com prices are lower and offer discounts on top of their lower prices. Long story short, I won't be shopping at petco anymore. To echo other reviews this particular Petco location is not well stocked at all. The shelves are often half empty. The inventory online is inaccurate. I've been burnt at least twice in the last year or so. Once in need of an ear cleanser for a dog's ear infection and another looking for a product to remove skunk stench. Both times I checked the inventory online before heading out only to find the items were not there in store and there weren't any similar products in stock despite what the website said. I haven't encountered this issue with other nearby Petco locations like Fairfield or Vacaville. It's strange and disappointing. The employees were perfectly fine. I didn't receive bad service. Beware of this Petco. Pre-scheduled my dog's 9th Petco grooming appointment. Pre-check in filled out, and he's had no changes in health since our 1st grooming appt last year. The young lady who checked us in was great. Kind, professional and it was clear she loves animals. I left my dog there and headed to run a quick errand. I got a call about 5 min. after leaving & the groomer told me her manager wouldn't let her groom my dog due to a cherry eye (very common condition of a protruding eyelid that can be tacked back in. Surgery isnt always successful, so some don't ever treat it. Ironically i was getting my dog groomed before his procedure to tack his eyelid in). Additionally i checked with my vet before initially having my boy groomed, and got an okay. Anyways, the poor girl on the phone-i could tell she was sorry, but after asking her some questions, it was clear she was terrified of her manager. I headed back to the store, and asked to speak with the manager. Lizzie came out and told me it is Petco's policy to not groom pets with a cherry eye. I asked her if i could see the policy, and she said "i cant show you that. It's against our policy". I asked to speak to her supervisor (Christopher) who backed Lizzie up. While he wasn't as harsh/rude as Lizzie, he was extremely condescending.I explained we've been coming to Petco for a year, and my pup has had a cherry eye since our 1st visit and have never had an issue. All i got from him was an insincere "I understand. But, still we wont groom him". When getting to my car I called their corporate office and the person told me Petco DOES NOT have this policy, but it may have been the local store's policy. I did feel at best misled, at worst blatantly lied to that this was a company policy. The other, and perhaps bigger issue that compelled me to write review is the fear that the grooming techs appeared to have of the management. Such an overall negative experience. Corporate assured me they would be investigating the management's treatment of staff and customers and i hope this will lead to a change. In the meantime, we will not be giving out business to Petco. read more

I adopted a little Maltipoo and took him to grooming at Petco. My appointment was at 10:30am, but at the same day morning the groomer called me at 8:00 to ask me can I go there at 8:30. I told her I can't but I will try to show up as early as I can. Finally, I arrived before 10, but my appointment was 10:30. When I went to pick up my dog, the groomer did not complain anything about my dog and I believe I tip her very nice. When I try to make the other grooming appointment for my dog again, the website showed me a message said my dog had personalized issue which I can't make any appointment for my dog, even at the other location. Then I call to the store ask for the reason, but they just said my dog has behavior issue, they don't tell me the details. I have three dogs in my live , I never met this kind of unfairness service, now I can't make any grooming appointments at any location of Petco. This was the first I tried Petco's service, it was a very bad experience. And I adopted my dog since 02/2024, I don't feel my dog has any behavior problems, he is a very nice dog. Today called to make an appointment , the person on the phone put us on hold many times , only to tell me they had no records of our prior visits , and we would have to resubmit everything. Well I'm doing 2 reviews in one, either take ur pet to see Savannah or Veronica, they are truly the best, Especially Savannah, my doggies love her, she's the only one they see except 1 time they saw someone else bc Savannah was not there, I was like ok and OMG the worst experience ever, the girl who took care of my baby girl Evie messed her all up, she either got some chemical fluid in her eyes or deliberately put in her eye, we are not quite sure bc there is no cameras where they bath the pets, all I know is that my girl could not even barely see out of her eyes they were so much in pain, I had to report this and also take her to her veterinary, whom was so upset that this happened. It caused my girl to have eye hernias in both eyes she could have gone blind if I had waited any longer to take her, she was put in eye drops for like 10 days and by the grace of God it helped. But basically almost $400 later she's better, Never and I mean never let ANNYO OR ANNYA or how spell it , don't let her groom ur dog. I can't say what happened but I have a feeling. So thank you Petco grooming for reimbursement of the grooming fee and my vet fees. Thank you Savannah for being amazing. I won't let anyone else take care of them, Maybe Veronica bc Savannah recommends her if needed. THE 5 Star is for Savannah but I give. A 1 Star for the other girl, why is she still even there. We brought our dogs here to get them groomed which included their nails. It took about an hour and when we came to pick them up only one of them was completely done and the other one her nails were not done. This was our first time using using their grooming service and I will not using them again. While I am happy that one of my dogs was done successfully I still have to pay more for another place to finish up what was started for my other dog. read more

this Petco is absolutely terrible. I go in there to buy some more fish because I am a frequent customer there. And I was in disbelief when I saw how many dead goldfish there were floating at the top of each tank over 50 of them. This causes disease for the other fish and they shouldn't be swimming in that water. I am so disgusted with this company and will never be going here again. Updating my review. I had 2 recent visits within the last 2 days. Sadly not fully stocked. I asked an associate if they had more of these particular treats. The response from Chris, "if it's not there then we don't have it in then back". Also I had to do a return/exchange transaction and David was NOT friendliest cashier. He rang my return and I purchased new items spending even more on what I returned. I mentioned I will reuse the same bag I had. No help. He just handed me a receipt and I bagged my own items. No thank you for shopping at Petco. As mentioned in previous review, I go to this location because of it's convenience. I inquired several times over a 2-3 week period about puppy training, wanted to speak to the trainer first but found it was virtually impossible to reach their only trainer Destiny. Left messages etc but never got a call back. Finally the last time I was advised to just sign up online and Destiny would be able to answer my questions once in class, which we did after verifying that the immunizations my puppy and my daughters puppy had received were acceptable. We paid and waited over a week for the time slot that worked best for my daughter and I came from Contra Costa county to attend the class with my daughter. I, one more time, had called the store to make sure that the 2 sets of shots our puppies had received were what was required after reading on another pet website that there were different vaccinations the pups could have received- the Petco employee said YES as long as they had the first and second rounds of shots that they were good to attend the 6 classes. Today I came to Vallejo, stressed my puppy out with the car ride (he got car sick and threw up) but we got the required items the website stated we needed and headed to the class. Got there early, walked around the store waiting and was finally told we could go in. There was me, my daughter, another woman and then a couple so there was 4 puppies total- Destiny asked for vaccination records and I could hear her telling the first woman that she didn't have the "required vaccinations", the couple then passed a paper and was told they had the nasal stuff that was required (yeah, a nasal spray that they conveniently didn't include anywhere on the website we were told to sign up on- and the other employees that we spoke to to ensure we had everything needed for the class didn't know a thing about either!). I passed our immunization records and was told that we didn't have the right vaccinations either, and also was told that since our puppies were vaccinated at home (by my granddaughter who is a VET TECH) that they couldn't attend Petco classes. She even made a comment insinuating that we got our puppies from "breeders", which we absolutely did not. We asked where on the website it stated that we needed a nasal spray administered before class, she couldn't find it so she got the manager who also could not find it. Destiny made several rude little comments about the 3 pups that didn't have the nasal spray and when she was told by the manager that pups who were home vaccinated were able to attend class- Destiny then asked the couple with the only pup that she felt was properly vaccinated if they minded the 3 other pups attending and possibly exposing their pup to a viral infection! Even the manager reacted to the rude, ignorant, question- stating that she would be addressing that after the class. When I said we would like a refund so we could go to PetSmart since Destiny is the only trainer Petco has- Destiny ran her mouth about that as well. End result is Claudia, the manager, refunded our money and apologized for what we had gone through with her employee. Claudia was very nice and even bought our puppies ice-cream before we left. Wish they offered a better trainer but unfortunately all they have is Destiny so my advise is to pay the few dollars more and go with PetSmart or a Petco someplace other that Vallejo. read more

I've had the worst experience with the grooming salon here. I tried to give them a second chance recently after terrible experiences a few years ago, but obviously nothing has changed. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago for my dog. They send multiple confirmation and reminder texts in the days leading up to the appointment - including around 9am this morning. I brought my dog in (early) for his appointment and had to wait 10 minutes for anyone to even come up to the desk. There was someone checking out ahead of me, so the groomer asked if I had an appointment and what my dog's name was. He then spent another 10 minutes checking out the other customer only to then tell me that they had to cancel my appointment. Not only is this a complete waste of time when they could have made a two minute phone call or sent a text, but my dog hates traveling in the car so he was traumatized and threw up multiple times all for nothing. Not only did they not call to let me know the appointment was cancelled, the groomer literally watched me stand there and wait 20 minutes at the front desk before letting me know that they couldn't see my dog. No apologies. No offer for a discount to bring my dog back another day. Just a big f you. When I said something about why he let me stand there for so long knowing the appointment was canceled instead of saying something, he responded in a completely rude manner as if I was at fault for something. I wish i like this store but I went a few times there and each time they didn't have anything I have been looking for. Today I brought my little furry boy in the store hoping to find a sweater for him since it's getting cold now. I saw a few online and it said available in Vallejo store. When we got to the store, we found that store items are unorganized. I could not even find anything that supposed to be available in the store. When I walked to the cashier and asked, I have been told "oh people store those clothes from the store all the time, even it says we have it in the store, people may just took it and left the store so our inventory is not correct." And the other gal also confirmed that. I was being surprised no one care in the store? They don't do anything to prevent theft? Seems like the staffs are used to it and that's sad. The feeder goldfish here are extremely cramped and there's about 100 fish in a 10 gallon tank. I saw a large feeder fish that I wanted to take home so I asked one of the workers (a large white lady with colored hair who seems to always work in the fish section) if I can buy the 36 cents fish and she started quizzing me. She asked me how large the fish tank I had was and I told her it was a 5 gallon. She then told me that the fish requires a way larger fish tank, so I asked her why petco had so many of these fish in a 10 gallon tank. She proceeded to tell me that the fish are in fact used to feed animals such as turtles. This didn't make sense because: 1) She told me that these fish require a large fish tank. 2) She told me that these fish are used to be fed to turtles. This was contradicting information which made me confused. This lady refused to sell a 36 cent fish to me because I wasn't feeding it to a turtle or putting it in a 50 gallon fish tank. Mind you that this fish was in a 10 gallon tank with about 100 other fish.... make it make sense! read more

This was a sad day. I brought my dog in for a grooming appointment. The lady at the front was very nice and asked me really good questions. She said the appointment would take a few hours, and it did. However, when I picked my dog up his hair was way shorter than I had asked for and there are bald spots throughout his body. There is clear razor marks on his neckline where they did not blend it. This morning when he went to the bathroom, he was really struggling to poop. The grooming appt also included anal gland expression but I don't think they did. Otherwise, he wouldn't have issues. I definitely WILL NOT be back. read more
