So I took my doggy back to get a trim and i sat on it for a couple of days because I was highly upset and didn't want to be rude but I'm highly upset that my dog was cut and the groomers didn't even bother to tell me their was an incident! I know times are weird because of the pandemic but that doesn't mean i shouldn't be told if their is an incident with my doggy's hair cut!!! I would give a ZERO IF I COULD but I can't well I have been a loyal customer for almost 2 1/2 years always buying from them cause they have good prices and cause of the price match online with the store, but sadly the last two weeks I was there a cashier named Kelly gave me a horrible experience by making comments in front of me to their coworker while paying and how long I was taking on the price match which it's online.. sorry Kelly but you need more customer service training! Well they apparently can't do this and without a receipt or picture of the receipt or your pal rewards they can't exchange or give a in store credit... how beneficial for them so I get my small filter and call their phone to reach customer service since they have more power to see if I can get either store credit they tell me someone from the store is going to call and I will get an email, yeah right!! 7 days pass... and nothing so I call back!!!! NEVER take your beloved dog here for grooming. Theycompletely destroyed my Shipoo's coat and cut here to the bone even after being given specific instructions on what to cut and what to leave alone. I was deeply disturbed when i picked her up and they could only shrug their shoulders and then charged me $100 for the privilege. I don't know what's going on at this location but it has nothing-empty shelves everywhere. I realize there are many places having difficulty getting inventory but they seem to be having a much bigger struggle than other Petco locations and other pet food stores. I have gone in every month for the past five months trying to get a particular food for my cats and this visit was abysmal. They had even less inventory then when I was in last month. I bought what little I could find, but I wish I hadn't wasted my time. I was going to this store because it was convenient. This review is only for their grooming department. I've had my yorkie groomed here 2 times now and each time I'm always unsure about leaving him. Grooming is a tough job because you are working with people's fur babies and you have to somehow reassure pet parents their fur babies are in good hands. Unfortunately my groomer Shalala S never made me feel that way. My groomer never really asks me about my dog, just asks me what length. Today I even brought pictures to show her how I wanted his little face and she completely dismissed me trying to show her. These last two times I've left them with instructions to NOT carry him out when I come get him because he wiggles and has fallen before and each time they still carry him out. On the way out I made sure to evaluate his cut a bit more and that's when I realized they didn't even do a sani trim. His butt and penis still had so much fur. I feel like that should always be something that gets done in a grooming appt. I didn't want to come back and let them know because At this point I was bothered that my groomer didn't even tell me how he did, how it all went, and didn't even respond when I said thank you on the way out. It feels like unless you're a regular, or the groomers know you a little more personally you won't get much from this group. Just the bare minimum. That's the last grooming visit for my little one here. As someone that works with animals I feel like being a groomer you have to be more personable and more reassuring. I get it, days can be long and tiring but people are leaving their dogs at your hands at least sound excited to groom or to be working with dogs. read more

Over the past two years we have managed two small tanks, we have followed all the cleaning rituals, and right meds to keep our fish happy. He have lost one frog, one gold fish, one tetra, four snails, and two cst fish. I am not sure if I can blame the frog or snail on petco cause me frog would not eat and the snails died after 6 months. Now the fish, every single fish within a day when we first set up up the tank got I ich. This was a new tank so they definitely got it from when at petco. Recently we got a new smaller tank to first keep new fish from older healthy fish, a week after we got four new fish, three have died. Petco does have a thirty day return policy but this is ridiculous. Every time I check out petco for dog related products I check out the fish, and a few tanks generally have tags for unhealthy fish, but another 50% of the tanks always have at least one dead fish. Oh man. You know it must be bad if I decided to write a yelp review for my experience, given the fact I rarely write reviews anymore. This review is purposely for one of the male employees who works there. Didn't catch your name, but I'll be sure to update it if we run into you again. My husband asked a simple question if they had any products to help replenish electrolytes for dogs. Our 10 year old border collie is currently having severe dehydration and we are basically aiding her with helping her rehydrate. As recommended from our vet, a mixture of water and electrolyte solution was key. You know what response we got? "They don't make Gatorade for dogs. Just give them plenty of water. That's the best way to hydrate your dog". Almost answering like we didn't know any better. Look, it's cool if you don't know they make things like "Gatorade" for dogs, but they do. Also, work on your customer service skills or address me to someone who MIGHT be more knowledgeable with pet health. read more

I hate this place. I hate this place. I hate this place!!! This is the WORST Petco I've ever seen! There are constant dead fish floating or being nibbled at in the fish tanks, everything looks cramped together and it just all around looks dirty. A huge reason why I hate this Petco is because every single time I've bought a hamster here it was either sick or died the next day. And I've bought 3 hamsters from here in the last 4 years. After our last one died I vowed to never ever come back here to buy another animal ever again. They clearly dont take care of their animals nor do they care. Hamsters have visible wet tail every single time I come in here to just browse and no one seems to care! I even brought this up with corporate twice and they have yet to reply to my email that I sent over two years ago. Alright so I hate Petco less than I hate The Pet Shoppe but it still sucks. You usually have to ask someone at the front if there's anyone helping with the fish, with a sigh they page someone on the intercom. They come out sooner or later and help you with your fish. The prices are reasonable on the fish also, but I just feel like a lot is lacking in the aquatics department. The small animals are always so cute to look at! I would get some but hey I already have 13 fish a puppy and a husband. I LOVE how they have a bunch of doggie clothes now and encourage you to try them on before you buy. Also appreciate the fact that they carry so many food brands. But alas, the staff... *shakes head* I'm sorry, some of them are very very sweet and that's great! Seriously, if you have any ounce of compassion for animals, RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. No matter how cute and cuddly those guinea pigs look...no matter how sweet the hamsters are...just say no. They are all sick and poorly taken care of! The chinchilla's are unhappy and very aggressive. The cages are always dirty. The birds are overly crowded in their homes and always fighting. It's so sad. I came in with the logic of 'I'll buy a guinea pig and rescue it from this place'. They told me my first baby was healthy, that was a lie! The first one I purchased had nibbled ears and conjunctivitis. I took it to the vet 3 days after I brought him home, my vet encouraged me to go to Petco to be reimbursed. Management at Petco gave me a full refund but said normal protocol is to return the animal to be treated at the Petco facility. That's really odd to me but whatever. My guinea pig survived, but only a few months later he picked up a severe UTI. ANOTHER Vet bill out if my own pocket! I gave Petco another chance and purchased another guinea pig recently. I only had the piggy for 1 day and had to return him for treatment of an upper respiratory infection. What a nightmare the customer service has been! Management is horrible. Mike uses profanity in front of customers. He also treated me like I was an annoyance to him. Hello!...just do your job well! My guinea pig has now been there for over a month, he has picked up another bacteria...so he is worse than when I initially bought him! Every time I go to the store to check up on my guinea pig...he smells like urine and I'm treated like a non priority. These people only care about their money. Not the well being of the animals. To top it off, I have received no updates about the condition of my piggy. If I had not been checking in on him regularly, I guarantee he would have been dead by now. They hired Sarah as a "animal specialist" manager....I have no idea what her role is there for because she is NOT on top of it at all. And to top it off, Petco wants me to buy my guinea pig back SICK! They refuse to take it to the professional vet for proper treatment. And it's like they just want to get rid of him and make money! Prices here aren't that great, but what can you do when there's no choices? I'd say it's a great emergency source for your pet needs. They practically carry everything you can think of here. I was here specifically to pick up kibbles for the lil furry guy with four legs at home because he had nothing to eat for dinner. It was either pay the convenience charge or drive a distance. The employees are friendly and you can tell they love pets like their customers do. They understand the importance on getting your pet covered on their needs. Vallejo petco. I had an appointment that I waited 3 weeks to have my dog washed. I thought my appt. was at 2:30 but when I arrived the groomer told me it was at 2:15. I informed her thatI was blocked in because the neighbor had an emergency and the police,fire department and paramedics had the street blocked. She still told me it was too late and I can come another day. I informed her it already has been over 3 weeks and just stood there lookin at me (09-12-21). I left very upset. Brought my 7-months-old Shih Tzu to get groomed. I was happy on how he looked. Came home starts giving him some love then I saw a tick on his chin. My puppy is a house dog he don't go out for walks and don't hang out with other dogs. I have a baby and 2 toddler that have all the attention my puppy can have and our backyard is full concrete no grass or dirt. I will never go back here again. I called them and told them my concern and they said that it could happen and that another dog can get ticks and could transfer to another dog because there're a public grooming place and basically nothing they can do. Shouldn't grooming have some sort of aaha regulations or some sort of way to keep our dogs protected from other dogs who have fleas, ticks, etc? Instead of "it could happen" because we bring our pets to be clean and safe but the fact that ticks could happen and the staff(the employee i spoke to on the phone) says basically " oh well" and that they have no preventive measures. read more

When I adopted my rabbit, I headed to Petco for my rabbit's needs because it's only 5 minutes from my house. I remember there was a petite Asian girl that helped me check out and signed me up for the Petco rewards. She's really nice. I realized it was more convenient​ and money efficient to buy rabbit litter and timothy hay on the Petco online store and have it shipped to the house through Petco Repeat delivery​. The prices are cheaper online, free shipping literally takes a day and it automatically ships after the designated time. Sometimes I would underestimate or overestimate the timothy hay or litter so I would have to stop by the store and pick up extra before the shipment reaches the house. The second to last time I was at this Petco, I picked up the smallest bag of timothy hay because a shipment of timothy hay was on its way but my bun didn't have anymore. I stood in line waiting for the cashier to open up and a Caucasian lady steps up to the empty cashier and just looks at me to approach her. No "hello, I can help you here" or "I can take the next customer". I was like ok... but I approached her register and just the body language that she gave me really made me uncomfortable. Like she was mad at me for being in the store. Not one word during the transaction​ until she handed me the receipt​ and she had said:​ "have a nice day". So on April 7th, my order for timothy hay was processed to be delivered. It came two days later, and for once my husband opened the package and asked me, "is it just me or this hay look really crappy." I took a look and say that it was literally little tiny pieces or chopped up hay and grayish green dusty pieces. The hay we typically get in the mail is​ long crisp green pieces of hay. We aren't the type of people to complain and because I really wasn't sure about the return policy for Petco especially since it was a delivery, I kinda of just sucked it up since my rabbit eats anything. I fed it to my rabbit and within 5 minutes, all I hear are sneezes coming from his room because of the dusty hay. Every time I fed him, all I hear was sneezes and chomping​ noises and then more sneezes. I felt so bad so I ended up looking up the return policy and it turns out I could return in store as long as I print out my order receipt​. My husband went today, 4/23/18 (well yesterday since it's 1:23 am), to this Petco. Yes I know, it's has been about 2 weeks but the reason why we have repeat delivery is that​ our lives are pretty busy so the repeat delivery is convenient for us to have things shipped​ to the house instead of coming to the actual store​. And we didn't have the time to go return terrible hay the past couple days so I would say the hay was 3/4 full. We entered the store and the store was actually quite packed. We approached the cashier and I saw that the cashier was actually "Aaron in training". As we approached him and told him what happened, the cashier next to him overheard and said oh that's perfectly fine, I'll call the manager. The manager's name is Kelly. The manager comes and lord and behold, it was the rude cashier from my last visit. She approaches, doesn't even acknowledge​ or say hello and simply​ said,​ "what's going on". I basically told her what I told the cashiers and what I wrote. She looks so disinterested when I was trying to explain to her that we're not complaining about the hay and if it's possible if we could return it or even exchange it for another bag. She snatches the bag from me and looked at it and at first,​ she looked like she wanted to say she couldn't do anything, but then she said, "I can't refund you but I can exchange it for another bag." I was like, "ok, do you need to see the order receipt​ I printed out" because I felt like because of the way she was acting she did not believe me. She glanced at it in my hand and said, "well I still need to scan the hay bag." In my head I was like ok....but you didn't answer my question. My husband and I agreed she was rude as we walked away. We looked for the 96 oz bag but I guess they didn't have any so we just opted for the 48 oz bag. We brought it to the register and we chit chatted​ with Hugo, the other cashier. While the manager was telling him what to do, she basically talked to him like he was stupid. She took my order receipt​ and was basically talking to him really slow telling him​ to do a return and scan the new timothy hay and going through the order receipt​ like she didn't believe my husband and I. At the same time, the training cashier was with a customer and I guess they wanted to purchase a leash but I guess someone misplaced it in the sale section and she was being so rude to them saying, "well I didn't put it there, it was misplaced." They left without purchasing the leash. I would suggest to Petco, is to educate and train your managers on how to treat and show body language to the customers. She should not be a manager, at all. Worst experiences in any pet store anywhere. First off Parking lot is unsafe I was broken into and robbed my first time there. Witness says he saw the guy drive off and said it happens all the time. 2nd experience I purchased dog food that when my dog became I'll I did some checking and found the food I purchased was recalled 3 weeks prior and remained on the shelf. Called store they said with no caring about my pet said " that's impossible" called customer service and the next day the Manager of the store John called me to return the food .He advised to call Food mfg. 3rd problem there sales are a joke. 30% off means prices raised 40% for the "sale". As always they did a GREAT job with my husky. Summit is an older dog and needs help. They were kind and gentle with him. He comes out shiny white and clean! He also loves the deshedding because he is, I'm sure feeling lighter after unloading all that extra hair. I try to brush it out but it never seems to end. Petco groomers do a marvelous job getting all that hair brushed out. He was smiling when I picked him up! The manager Chris at this location is very rude. My wife & I spent $100 and card did not work, was told by checker there was atm accross the street. Asked my wife to wait so they would not re-stock all the stuff we picked out and checker said don't worry, I won't put it back. I asked again to please not re-stock merchandise as manager looked on and she said don't worry, I won't. We went across street, used atm, had lunch and about hour later came back and all product was put back on shelf. When I asked the name of the manager since he was not wearing name bag & told him checker had promised us all the products would not be put back, he said I'm Chris, the manager, I put it back, almost like he was proud of what he had done and it didn't matter what his staff or customer had specifically requested. Chris should be demoted, we won't ever be back. Petco needs to explain to Chris the basics in customer service & how easy it would have been to not restock the product after being asked not to. This is unexceptabld and she was botched . If someone doesn't know how to cut they need not touch scissors. I took my two small dogs to Petco for grooming here in Vallejo. I dropped them off at 11:30 they told me to come back at 2:00. Well they hadn't even started she said come back at 3:30. Guess what? Nothing. I was pissed. They were finally done at 5. One of my dogs suffers from a torn cruciate was in so much pain she left there limping. I had to carry her to the car and give her a pain pill. Oh and the haircut is uneven.No sanitary shave, they didn't file they're nails, shave they're belly and clean they're ears. No perfume or bows. Never Again! read more

Not sure about the store , but this is about their "grooming salon" if I dare to call it that. I took a risk and it was awful. All instructions was received not by the groomer. I didn't even have a honor to meet the groomer, just a voicemail stating that my dog has flee problem (never had before) and they need to upcharge. I'm sure that my dog was ready way before they called me and just kept in one of the cages. I had to call and leave a message asking for my dog back. Also I had never payed $96 so someone can shave my medium size dog patchy bald and leave bloody spots here and there. My dog is 10 years old and we have some experience with grooming, that was very bad. When I walk back in for pick up all I hear is my dog crying so loud and all they care about is payment. First they made me wait 7 weeks for a grooming apt. Then when I get there, they ask me for my dog's rabies record. I don't have my dog's rabies record but I do have her rabies registration tag but it wasn't good enough for them, they said they needed the actual record from the vet. I asked if they had a fax machine, so I could fax the record to them, of course they do not. How is a rabies vaccination tag good for animal control but not Petco? I don't even want to put one star.. But one star is for doing the job, and for the poor guy that has to work with the ladies who work in grooming. My dog was fine, but I feel bad for the dogs whose owners left to be groomed. One lady was on the phone arguing with who I am guessing is her boyfriend or husband, then she hangs up the phone and starts complaining about what they were arguing about. Before even helping us at the counter. Another girl was struggling to cut the hair in between a dogs paw and was yelling at the dog. The lady who was just on the phone then goes to help her and yells at the dog too! She started saying that the dog was going to be charged for being difficult, and started blaming the owner for walking in for checking if the dog was ready. The owner can walk in when ever they want, especially if they say the dog is going ready. When you look at the dog it was shaking and obviously very stressed out. He wasn't being difficult he was very scared. If you are going to go towards a dog and yelling at it, it isn't going to react the way you want. Odd enough shopping for my pet makes me feel out of place considering she is a family dog. However, the team was full of accepting attitude, and willing approach to finding shampoo; plus dog food ( puppy chow ). I was able to obtain the grain branded product not to mention made it back home all in time to apply my purchase in the same day. Horray customer specialist. read more

This Petco is close to my house so this is "my Petco". Anyhow they are always very helpful here. They are fully stocked and always have what I'm looking for. The groomer actually was the first person to tell us about having our dogs anal glands expressed. Apparently this is very important so I'm so thankful that they told us this. They also gave us a discount for nail clipping and anal glands that day. Very cool. The thing that I disliked about this Petco is that I took my Mother in Law's dog there to get his shots and there was a super long line and poop and pee all over the floor. They weren't keeping on top of the cleanliness that day and her dog actually ended up getting kennel cough the next day. Not good at all. I'd come here for grooming and shopping needs but probably not for the clinic ever again. Plus, I wouldn't recommend letting your dog run around in there. read more

Came to this specific location here in Vallejo about three times now and each time it gets worst and my time in the store becomes more shorter! Went in looking for Dog Food that they didn't carry had to drive to Benicia to Pet Food Express (PFE treats me better as a customer and as a pet owner by the way) SECOND TIME I went to this Petco there was a long line of people getting vaccines so there was NO staff around to help customers who weren't there getting vaccines. A complete waste of time and it was unorganized so I couldn't even get into the dog section cause the store had EVERYONE lined up in that area!! THIRD TIME I went for grooming and we asked a simple question to the lady and she seemed to have an attitude and not wanting to help at all! We know they are busy in there and probably understaffed but why the attitude towards the customer? I'll just start driving all the way to Benicia for better service. Go here only if it's for a quick run in and out for something you know they have! Don't expect any help here. read more
