Out of a 4 day trip with multiple winery visits, this was hands-down my favorite of the trip. Great view, a focus on bold, well-aged reds, references to Wagner, AND prices didn't bust your wallet. It's like I died and went to heaven (Viking heaven, that is). 20 acres of vines, although I forgot to ask how many cases/year. Most wineries in Virginia serve red wines that are maybe 2 or 3 years old. Anything beyond that is usually considered a 'library' wine, safely tucked away for special events (and the price doubled). NOT HERE. Valhalla has a special extended tasting option which includes a number of older vintages, ranging from 2003 to 2008 for $10. Shhhhush.....don't tell them that they could have tripled this price and I'd have still done it. I did both the regular and 'reserve' tasting. Choosing wines from here was drafting a fantasy football roster with an unlimited number of picks. I tasted additional wines beyond these, but at some point I just stopped taking notes as my taste buds became overwhelmed with liquid goodness. 2008 Gotterdammerung: Red blend that was still fruity and a bit spicy. And it was only $22 (!!!). 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon: Extremely smooth. Sangiovese (didn't get there year): Light color but enough bite to keep me happy. 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon: Nice, although it was pretty obvious this was getting past its prime. 2008 Cornucopia (red blend): It was bold for my palate, although maybe not to the same standards as others on this list. Non-vintage (NV) Valkyrie: Red blend made with grapes from different years. Actually one of my favorites of the bunch. 2007 Valkyrie: Cab Sauv/Shiraz blend: My favorite; still bold after all these years. Only $28. Alicante Bouschet: A French hybrid still planted worldwide (including southern France). Not bad, but not quite as good as the rest of the lineup. I will definitely be back here; preferably as my first option of the day, with food pairings to go with everything. The only downside is I might not make it to any follow on activities.

Beautiful views! Enjoyed our day there last Saturday! Sat outside enjoying the wine and the views were breathtaking.

Valhalla Vineyards is perfectly situated at the top of the mountain and offers absolutely gorgeous views of Roanoke. The vineyard looks like it is very well maintained and the ambiance inside and outside of the tasting room is upscale. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, they are not doing tastings right now and you can only purchase wine by the glass. They allow you to bring your own snacks/food to enjoy with your wine, and have both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the City. The reason I am giving Valhalla only 4 stars is because the wine they offer is limited primarily to dry reds. I personally love dry reds and the one I tried was great, but my significant other is not a wine lover like I am and prefers sweeter wines. They only had one dry white wine and one semi-sweet red and neither really struck his fancy. Definitely worth stopping by for the view of you like dry reds!

Short drive from Roanoke, although drive carefully and slowly on this pretty winding road. Had a wine tasting with Lucy, who was knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the vineyard. If you love red wine, this is the place for you! Lovely, dry wines!

Cute winery that offers beautiful views!! Our party had the option to do a $6 or $10 wine tasting (both include a Valahalla logo wine glass) so we opted to choose our own 5 for $6 since the $10 one was a preselected flight. Once our tasting was complete we decided to share a pitcher of sangria for $25, this was their Syrah with punch and frozen fruit, and sit out on the patio to enjoy. Plus, we were able to do the tour to see the cave which I definitely recommend.

This place is really beautiful! Quite the drive up the mountain. Be careful! The views are spectacular. They have an indoor and outdoor fireplace, tables outside and inside. No tastings during covid, unfortunately. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, as I just moved from out of state and received some helpful tips! With that said, I gave it a 4 because I drink white wine and they only had one in stock. However, I did try a Cab and it was phenomenal.

There are beautiful views and a variety of options for tastings. There are COVID -19 safety precautions in place for everyone's protection. They offer live music at various times.

Great experience! We stopping in for a quick tasting and glass and really enjoyed the wines. Donna behind the bar was friendly and knew a lot about the wines and vineyard. We enjoyed tasting Virginia wines from the last couple of decades! Also, the view was stunning.

This vineyard is a long trek straight up Bent Mountain but the views alone make the trip worth it!! All of the grapes are harvested for their wines from their own vines. There are a couple different tasting options: you can try 6 young wines for $6 or try 7 mature wines for $10. Naturally, my wife and I did each one and shared with the other. Our favorites were the 2005 Valkyrie and the Alicante Bouschet. They let you keep your stemless tasting glass with their logo on it, which was the largest tasting glass I've seen (real wine glass size).

By far one of my favorite wineries yet! We have been too close to 100 wineries and this one is at the top of our list! The view was amazing, the stone tasting room was gorgeous and the fact they specialize in red wines and they were all fabulous! Made it hard to choose which ones to buy!

Great wine. Friendly staff, and amazing views. I recommend the valkyrie for dry wines, and the vestal virgin for semi-sweet.

Nice views but very average wines. The Merlot was the winner of the reds and didn't particularly find a white I enjoyed.

So I was a little unsure whether the wine selection at Beliveau Farm Winery would be for me. But I'm happy to say that these guys are making some great wine. Yvan and Joyce, the owners, know what they are doing in terms of grapes and wine, because they have traveled and enjoyed wine from all around the world. They have a good thing going on here. When I visited, I did a wine tasting, which was paired with different flavored potato chips. So I got to taste several different wines. I'm more of a red wine gal, but one of my favorites at Beliveau is the Crazy Professor, which is a white wine blend: Vidal Blanc, Chardonel, Pinot Gris. They also have a tasty Cab Franc (one of my favorites, too), and another Crazy Professor wine, but this one is a red called The Professor's Crazy Estate Blend, which is Cab Franc, Syrah, Merlot and Tempranillo. Almost all of my favorites in one bottle! So, yes, you will find some great Virginia wines here. You can enjoy a glass indoors or outdoors. I hope you sit outdoors, though, because the grounds are beautiful and expansive. This place is kid-friendly and pet-friendly, too. There's lots of open space for kids to run around, and some big rocks for them to climb on.

Our party of 4 started with a wine tasting at the bar with a very friendly, knowledgeable pourer. Every wine was good, some better than others but all good. (It should be noted that they do not grow their own grapes due to the altitude.) After our tasting we ordered food and got bottles of glasses of wine and found a table on the covered patio as it looked as if it could rain. They were not offering their wood fired pizzas this day because of the possible bad weather which was disappointing as we were all looking forward to it but we did order some sandwiches which were pretty good. All in all a very good experience and their winery dog made it even better. Oh they also have a bocce court which was nice to see but we didn't play as it was wet from a previous rain shower.

They have a short but absolutely wonderful menu where every choice is a winner. It is an amazing spot to enjoy quality time relaxing or sharing a glass with special people. Highly recommend! After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Stave & Cork in Downtown Salem, Virginia is a perfect example. As soon as I arrived, an elegant yet friendly lady greeted and welcomed me, explaining this unique establishment and what it had to offer. I explained how today I came to learn about the place and have dinner with a non-alcoholic drink since I was driving. She served me a glass of water and explained the different items on the menu. The menu included artisanal cheeses, charcuterie boards, house-made dips, and made-to-order paninis, as well as a Cheesecake Flight sweet. I ordered the Peaks of Otter Panini which contained Pulled Pork, Swiss Cheese, Pickles, and Mustard. And was served with kettle fried potato chips. While I waited for my order to be served on one of their beautiful polished walnut tables, I observed how some guests had a Wine Flight paired with a Charcuterie Board. And how their knowledgeable staff and owner guided the guests through unique varietals. When my food was ready it was brought to my table. The Peaks of Otter Panini was amazing. It had fresh, juicy pieces of pork, that together with the Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard tasted more like a gourmet Cuban Sandwich. And the chips were also fresh and crispy. Before leaving I walked around and noticed they had a back dining room as well as an outside dining area. Their wine selection focused on small, boutique wineries, offering a diverse range of local, domestic, and international wines. They also had some shelves full of local artists woodwork items for sale. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its high-quality food, wines, and products from local artists. On my way out I met with a local couple of friends and remained talking with them for almost an hour. Again, I highly recommend this place and am looking forward to returning with some friends.
