I have never written a Yelp review but I was so thrilled with my experience with Valet Custom Cabinets that I feel compelled to give this company the public kudos it so deserves. We just completed multiple projects: 4 closets and a garage, with a very tight time crunch. We investigated multiple companies in our area and, after careful comparison, decided to go with Valet even though the price was a little higher than the competition. I assume if you are reading this review, then you are interested in the summary of why we chose this company over others. It boils down to three issues: 1 - - unlike some of the competition, these shelves/boards cannot easily slide out with a child's rough handling. That was a huge peace of mind issue (at the same, must mention, the materials are very flexible - - an adult can easily move things around with little effort and the closets are designed to evolve and grow as our kids' needs evolve and grow). Also, this company has the ability to show their diagrams in computer-generated 3 dimensional images, and this detail enabled us to really understand what we were designing and to make adjustments before it was too late in the process. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, these guys are just amazing at their jobs. Our designer was Marc Olson and he is incredible. He understands busy schedules and moves things along effieciently and professionally- - he made best use of my time and respected our concerns/goals throughout the design process. He has a fluid understanding of the product and was able to guide us away from tactical errors as we gave input. He is uberprofessional, always available for phone call or concern and amenable to special requests. We had to get this job done in less than two weeks and he just made it happen. Also, Ruperto was our installer and his crew was amazing. They showed up not just on time but early, worked efficiently, and asked questions that I didn't even consider needed answering. I could not be happier with these results. I am confident we have added true value to our home and have great peace of mind that what Marc designed and Ruperto's team executed will have a daily positive and lasting impact on our family's lives. A few months ago I decided it was time to remodel y sewing room. I had a lot of supplies but there was very little organization. Upon the recommendation of one of the students in my sewing class, I contacted Valet Custom Cabinets and Closets. This is one of the few companies that specializes in sewing rooms. Shari Krandel came out for a consultation. Within 10 minutes she realized that this was going to be a very challenging project. She went back to the office and decided to call in reinforcements and the expertise of Ward Wildanger The two of them came out and we talked and re-talked about my wants and needs. They measured, offered opinions and listened to what I wanted. After several sessions of brainstorming the three of us came up with the perfect design. The order was placed and within a few weeks it was ready to be installed. The crew came out and put in my new sewing room cabinets and murphy bed. It was even better than I had hoped for. There was one issue with the thread rack. Because of the large quantity of thread and the various sizes, the standard rack that they usually put in did not work for my needs. Ward came up with plan B. When that didn't work, he went back and did some homework and designed a brand new rack that is absolutely fantastic. It allows for all of my thread, all of the different sizes, and the option to rearrange the rack at a later date if my needs ever change. After designing this new rack, Ward personally came in and installed it to make sue it was everything I had hoped for. My only complaint (if you want t call it a complaint) is that even when I am not sewing, I find myself going into my sewing room several times a day just to admire the finished product. This room came out ever better than I could have dreamed it would. Thank you Shari and Ward for doing such a fantastic job. I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences we have ever had with any contractor. (FYI, we did not know about Valet Custom until a friend recommended them so we have no vested interest in giving this excellent review.) From the design through the installation, they were responsive and professional. The finished closets look beautiful and the craftsmanship is absolutely precision. It doesn't get any better! Prior to contacting them we had closet systems installed that were done so badly we had them ripped out and our money returned. So we were living with our closets spilled out all over our house. Larry contacted us within hours of our initial phone call and went out of his way to streamline our design/installation so that we could get our closets faster than their normal turnaround. He was extremely patient with all of our questions (we had a lot!) and did not disappear once the sale was made. He was genuinely concerned and engaged throughout the process and even came by after it was done to make sure we were happy with everything. As promised, the installers were on-time, extremely nice and professional. They did an outstanding job and finished on-time. They even went the extra mile of fixing a drawer in my dresser that had been broken! We also ordered sliding closet doors, which were installed on a different day. When they arrived they turned out to be 1/2" too tall so had to be taken back to be recut. Even this minor setback was handled beyond my expectations. Larry's partner drove to my house to personally tell me about the problem, rather than leaving it to the installers (which would have been fine given the excellent service we'd received thus far). The doors were fixed and installed in short order and look fantastic! We could not be more thrilled and I cannot say enough good things about Valet Custom. This is the way you would hope business would be done and we would use them again in a heartbeat. You should too!!! read more

I recently moved and downsized my home. I had no idea how I was going to go from a nice large walk in closet to a smaller closet with 3 walls. I also went from a seperate hallway coat closet and linen closet to one big room in the hallway. Thank goodness for Mark Olsen with Valet! Mark came to my old home and sized up what I had, measured and then off we went to the new home to see what he had to work with. He took the time to ask me what my needs were and let me know w all of my options available. I visited the showroom where he explained the differences between their product and competitors products. Valet's quality is far superior. Once I finished choosing my options, we set installation dates. Needless to say, installation was flawless and according to the installers, it's all about the measurements. If the measurements are accurate their job is easy. At the end of the day, I have 3 custom bedroom closets, one custom hall closet, and a garage with beautiful cabinetry and expoxy flooring. I feel like I gained additional square footage in the house because of my custom cabinets to house extra pantry items, off season clothing, seasonal decorations, a flip down ironing board with a power strip inside of the cabinetry, and more! I was able to create a workout section with my equipment, along with an entertainment section for a tv, video games, etc. Mark also made my transition easy and supplied me with racks to hang my clothes while my closets were under construction. I did not have to worry at all throughout the entire process. The estimates were very reasonable and the project was completed on time. I have one more closet to go and considering a wall bed/office. Friends recommended Valet Custom Cabinets & Closets to us and showed us their installation. We visited the Campbell office to look for advice and see what they offered and had the good fortune to connect with Ward, their senior designer. Ward met with us 2-3 times to discuss our needs and wants for the multiple cabinets and closets we wanted improved in our new house. He made suggestions and revised drawings until we had beautiful, innovative designs that provided lots of useful and convenient space for both of us. This included a special cabinet and shelving unit in the study that matched other cabinetry and a cabinet for the bathroom (Toilet Topper?) that added a lot of necessary storage space. Ward also provided many suggestions that greatly improved the cabinetry in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. that was provided by the builder, including roll-out and adjustable shelving. Then we learned of another wonderful option. The owner, Larry, showed us garage cabinets and a beautiful epoxy flooring treatment that made the plain concrete disappear, replaced with a vibrant coating with multicolored flakes that is so easy to clean, looks like a showroom, and adds a lot to the whole house. Larry even invited us to see the garage in his own home, as well as a couple of others. The installation of all this took only 2 (they scheduled 3 days just in case) days, and was done perfectly, including all clean-up. It is wonderful to work with a company that keeps its promises, is easy to work with, and cares about the customer experience from start to finish. The material and workmanship was top quality as was all the design and installation. Most important was all the work with Ward who was completely focused on customer service and making sure we got not only what we wanted, but what we needed for the future. read more

My relationship with Valet Custom Cabinets and Closets spans 15 years and it is due to the excellent service and quality I have come to depend on with this organization. I do not shop the competitors because it comes down to relationship and trust, along with cost and design and I have Mark Olsen to thank for that. Mark Olsen has been my sales rep and goes out of his way to insure the customer service satisfaction that eludes many contractors. Mark began his relationship with us in our old house which was a brand new home so we had the luxury of space. We downsized 3 years ago and this is where Mark's eye for design and space efficiency became truly challenged. The first success was my then tween daughter's bedroom closet which he designed for scale-ability as she grows and her storage needs change.This closet has proven that 3 years later, she still has plenty of room now for clothes instead of toys. Mark's latest success is the master bedroom closet which was transformed into a his/hers walk-in, floor to ceiling, in a space that is L-shaped and limited by a separating wall. Mark added on more storage for us by including a custom window seat storage container that tied together the closet area and bedroom keeping our cottage theme with a modern look. The resale value Mark has added on with the beautiful cabinetry and design will bode us well later down the road. Our garage has had 2 phases, first storage, later workstation and again Mark hit a home run with the aesthetic and practicality so successfully we no longer call it a garage room! I am so very pleased to have worked with Valet on my office/media room! Both the finished product and the design/installation process far exceeded my expectations. Shari was the designer on my project, which consisted of turning a room containing a mish-mash of old furniture and plastic storage bins into a beautiful functional multi-purpose room. Not an easy task! She met with me at my house and listened to what I was trying to do and what the use of the room would be and came back quickly with a wonderful design to meet all of my needs. We went through multiple revisions of the design and Shari was always very helpful, creative, and patient; never pushy. The installation process was seamless and quick. I was so worried that we hadn't thought of something that would end up being a problem and that just wasn't the case. The installers were punctual, friendly, clean, and professional. When I visited the showroom with my husband to show him some of the materials and other features, Shari wasn't there, but all of the other designers in the showroom that day took their time out to help us and were all so friendly. Shari also put us in touch with a media consultant (James Stout) that they work with who was able to help us with our media needs and coordinated everything with Valet such that there were no surprises when we went to install our media system. I had a couple of follow-up items after the installation (needed another hole drilled and had a drawer glide that wasn't quite working right) and the installation team got back to me and took care of things right away. The cabinetry looks like fine furniture and we have received many compliments on how nice the room looks. I just couldn't be happier! read more

We bought a new home in 2012 and wanted to make one of the bedrooms into a more multi-functional space. We had visions of using the existing closet space for many different purposes: hanging clothes, space for a TV and/or computer, printer, drawers, a fold down desk, and shelves for display. We worked with Mark who was able to design something that met ALL of our needs. It has now been 18 months since our installation, and we couldn't be happier with our built-in unit. My partner just finished his master's degree, and made good use of the desk almost daily. He could fold it down as needed, then fold it back up when finished so it didn't take up space in the small room. The printer is on a sturdy sliding shelf that rolls out very smoothly. Above the TV is a pull-down rod for hanging clothes - even though the unit goes up to the 9-foot ceiling, the pull-down rod allows us to hang coats up high and easily get them as needed. The unit is very good-looking, sturdy, and extremely functional. Family and friends can't believe how many functions it serves, and how it all fits so neatly in the closet. Mark worked with us closely on this complicated project, and followed up after. He worked with the city since the unit covered one of the sprinklers in the room. We recently asked for an additional shelf, and he delivered it himself soon after ordering it. He seems to sincerely care about the final product, and takes pride in his design. We have found that it is well worth the money to get a custom unit. We are extremely happy with the work that was done, and would recommend Mark and Valet Custom Cabinets to anyone. read more

This was my first foray into customizing a room which by the way was a hodge-podge of mix and match and essentially a mess, and I have nothing but superlatives for Valet Custom Cabinets and Closets. Mark Olson, senior designer, took me, the uninitiated and walked my mom and I through the design process step by step and what it would take to bring this dream office/bedroom to fruition. Friendly and professional--with numerous meetings and discussions about fitting my needs into a beautiful design for such a small space, going over choices of countertop and wood finishes to handles and pulls down to the nitty gritty of electrical supply sources. What I like most is he listened and brought all his professional knowledge about what could be done to the fore opening up new possibilities and concepts into the visioning process. He also framed the timing for everything, when electrical, painting and floors needed to be finished before and when it was ready, the installers Marcial and Zoltan came in and not just got the job done--it was amazing to see how all the pieces fit together and once done--Wow!!! Mark was always available and did oversight the job from electrical outlets to finished product. This room is a dream come true. I had no idea this tiny room could look so good, and serve my needs for an office with plenty of desk top, cabinets, bookcases and filing cabinets and bedroom. You should see the cute vanity. Ward Wildanger helped us convert our rather useless basement room, into a much needed general storage room with 35 running feet of cabinets, 24 inches deep and celling height. There are banks of drawers, shelves, closets, a cleaning/broom closet for the otherwise hard to use corner, and an extra kitchen pantry - all behind a beautiful exterior. We chose garage quality cabinets with a moulding on top that reaches the celling. During the design process I saw some very expensive hardware that I wanted, but did not want to spend the money on. Ward did some research and found almost identical hardware in a less expensive metal at a fraction of the price for us. There is only one word to describe the final results and that is - magnificent. The cabinets literally took my breath away when I saw the final outcome after getting home the day the work was completed.The hardware and the mix and balance of door panels and drawers makes the final product look very distinctive. They so suit the space....and give the basement a "lift". I should also add that the whole installation process including the scheduling, the prep mails and reminders and the actual installation went exactly as they told us it would. The 2 gentlemen who did the installation were careful and considerate. I cannot remember the last time I ever had a worry free, hassle free job done at my home - this may actually be the first. I would so totally go back to Valet again. !! read more

We had a very difficult closet space to design with eaves, short walls and low ceilings. For two years, we tried every closet company in the Bay Area. Many walked out without even submitting a bid due to the complexity. Then in walked Larry from Valet. He pulled out an iPad, a computer, measuring tape and went to work. 15 minutes later he had a design that worked at a price that worked. We didn't agree to the deal on the spot - we took some time to think about it. Like all major purchases, we thought for a long while, asked to make changes and generally became the worst nightmare for any vendor as we just couldn't make a decision. Larry stuck with us, was empathetic and entertained every change and variation we asked about. We finally signed the contract and had a closet 4 days later.
