I tried searching Yelp for closet organizing companies and couldn't really figure out what the best choice was. Leaving Costco, I picked up a pamphlet and the rest is history. They have a high Yelp rating for good reason. Jess was my design consultant and he was such a joy to work with. Modesto and Oswaldo arrived on time and worked diligently to get the job done in about 5 hours (a giant master closet and another fairly large closet). Sometime during all this, Jess stopped by to check how things were going and to drop off pastries from (Paris Baguette - how did he know it's my fav place to get not-good-for-you but yummy treats???). Very impressed with this thoughtful and above beyond gesture. Crew left a clean house and yard (where they had to do their cutting of materials) and a very happy customer. When we started putting things back, one of the hanging areas was too short for the clothing and Jess came back the next day (a Saturday!) to fix the height. Through Costco, it's a great deal and you get a 10% cash card from them (a couple of weeks after the job is done). Beware, you have to pay the whole thing when you agree to the design, but this is paid to Costco and Closet Factory (not the crew) does not get paid anything until the job is done.

White dots placed over the three drill holes. That was their fix for a five figure closet....

Update: another visit, more of my time wasted. I said it clearly. Replace the damaged hamper. Instead, white dots were placed over the damage. And that doesn't even completely mask the damage. While the owner sites a signature for project completion the damage was only discovered after the install. This is now the fifth attempt to have a completed closet. This was a five figure closet that continues to disappoint.

We ordered a custom display case/storage for the home office in where the closet was originally located. Leslie was our designer and she was awesome to work with. I loved working with someone who is not afraid to let me know their preference in design. I mean, she is the expert, so of course I'd wanna hear her opinion! She was also very responsive and helpful via text throughout the whole process. We started and signed the design process in mid-June, and the installation happened at the beginning of August. At first I was a bit worried about them having to carry up the finished product (or like portions of it), but they actually build it right there. They have the pieces with them, and I think they refined it a bit more. The garage did get a bit dusty from the sawing, and slightly loud, but it was interesting seeing the before and after. The movers cook care of getting rid of the initial (empty) closet + the original frame so I didn't need to worry about it. They did tell me usually they reserve 1.5 day to finish building, but a lot of time, it can get completed within 1 day. Well, in my case, they had to come back a third time because the lights weren't working properly. They said it was a vendor issue so we had to wait for a replacement part. This was a bit inconvenient since it is difficult locking the cats in for three days (they hate it, and it's a lot of non stop crying), and keeping them out from the home office was difficult as well, but good thing is they were pretty fast on day 2 and they came back for day 3 within a week. I took off a star because I could visually see some imperfection. I did ask them to address the easily fixable imperfections (Leslie also helped me communicated that I wished for replacement cabinet doors since there were scratch marks). For the 3rd day (a week later), it was a different set of installers. They were in charge of adding in the new light and completing the frame portion. They were also the one that I have to sign the completion paper with. I pointed out a few dusty part and some gap I saw, and both Manuel and Carlos did their best helping me polish it up. For the other non-fixable imperfections (ie; a set of knob not lining up perfectly, some uneven surface, black mark at the edge, etc), I could live with, and it's not that obvious from far. For the price, yes it's pricy, but after doing some price comparison, Closet Factory's options were pretty affordable. So overall, value-wise, I'm quite happy with the result.

We just finished getting our living room built-ins installed by Carlos and Manuel. The service was great and the work was done well. They were on time and finished the work quicker than expected despite us asking them for a few extra holes to be drilled to accommodate our electronics for our TV and sound systems. Both installers were courteous and professional. They abided by our request to protect the floor since we have small children and we don't wear shoes inside. We had our designs done by Jamie and she was lovely to work with as well

Ronbow products happened to be sold at a San Francisco neighborhood retailer a few blocks away. I liked the contemporary design and the solid construction. Last year, I decided it was time to bring my original 1939 kitchen up to date. I looked for well-made cabinetry with a sleek, modern look. Shopping at the big box stores and through my contractor, the closest I could come was Shaker style cabinetry, which did not marry well with the Deco-era architectural features of my house. (There is IKEA, too, but I just wanted to go with stronger, more solid manufacture.) I looked again at Ronbow and saw that they had moved into custom cabinetry, that they had Bay Area showrooms, and that the cabinets are built locally, in Livermore, which I appreciated. They had the plain-fronted, modern cabinets I was looking for, but they also carry more ornamental styles, if that's what you prefer. The prices are in line with custom cabinetry (yes, it's an investment), and the salespeople, designers, and makers are, to a person, helpful and down-to-earth. I especially want to give a shout out to my rep Brian Apodaca, who stayed with me through the ups and downs of the construction process. I have to say, of all the vendors I worked with to put my new kitchen together, Ronbow was 100% on time and has been promptly attentive to questions and issues I had during and after installation. I highly recommend them.

He gave us a couple of options for cabinet finishes with detailed quotes and helped us select an option within our budget. He's busy and couldn't start for 3 or 4 weeks which gave us time to select and order a new countertop/backsplash, sink, faucet, and hardware. His countertop subcontractor did an excellent cutting and installation job too. John's crew worked M-Th which gave us enough downtime during the construction that lasted about 3 weeks. He used the same two guys throughout the project. Ed and Mynor showed up on time everyday and were hardworking and neat. He gave us paint to match the cabinets and we painted the interiors to exactly match the Thermofoil wrapped doors and frames. After 20 years as a construction manager at K-12 schools, I can honestly say John is one of the best contractors I've worked with. I thought long and hard about whether to post this, as I'd like to move on from this nightmare…read morescenario, but ultimately I think my experience can help others make a better choice. I started working with The Cabinet Center several months ago to remodel my kitchen. One thing I learned about a company like this is that ultimately you have to judge them based on how well they deal with issues that come up. And when you do a full kitchen remodel, issues do come up. The people at The Cabinet Center were nice enough initially, and very helpful with not only selecting cabinets, but also recommending people to work with regarding appliances, construction, and counter top. It was this all in one approach that I agreed to work with them. The sales pitch always goes well, as some say. But when problems started to crop up, that's when the quality of their service really took a nose dive. By time my kitchen remodel project was done, it was 3 months later, despite how The Cabinet Center assured me it would only take 3 weeks. I was stuck with a gutted kitchen, dust everywhere, half my condo sectioned off, with no sink, fridge, or stove for over 9 weeks. What's worse is that each week, I was given affirmation things will soon be on track. That made things worse. So what went down? 1. The wrong cabinet pieces were ordered. Supposedly this "never happens" as I was assured when I ordered my cabinets. Yet sure enough, it happened. Once this went wrong, all construction had to stop. To make matters worse, when they reordered the piece, the cabinet makers forgot to deliver it. The piece sat in the warehouse for a week until I called to figure out what was wrong. The Cabinet Center was blaming the cabinet maker, and the cabinet maker was blaming the cabinet center. I really didn't care who caused the problem at this stage, I just wanted it fixed. 2. The cabinets were sitting a warehouse, and never shipped until I called. What makes me angry about this is that there was no sense of urgency or interest helping me when this was realized. The Cabinet center told to call the cabinet maker to see if I could push things along. When I called them I was told they didn't want to talk with me because their customer was The Cabinet Center. I was in a screaming match with people until everything wrapped up. That's not how customer service should work. 3. They said I never ordered a backsplash for my countertop when I did. I was promised that my counter top order included a backsplash, but when it was installed, none was installed. The Cabinet Center's manager then dared question my understanding what was agreed upon, as if I made things up. I was flabbergasted. It wasn't until the construction people who were remodeling my kitchen agreed with me that the backsplash was part of the order (they happened to be in that initial meeting when a backsplash was discussed), did the manager finally agreed that "something might have been discussed". So what did they agree to do to fix the problem? Charge me an additional $750 to put it in (But it's a discount they say!) How nice of you... 4. They said they would repay me for the problems they caused. As of today, I still haven't seen a final check. I'm not even bothering with pushing for it, because the amount is a joke, and they been nonresponsive. They just didn't care about my plight, didn't care to fix it, nor wanted to even compensate me when clearly they messed up. I will say this, they did eventually help out, 7 weeks after I had no fridge to use, to give me a loaner, as a nice gesture. A gesture they only did because the construction people felt so bad for me they literally called The Cabinet Center to see what they can do show a little sympathy. And for this, they acted like they were saints or something. Please. Just thinking about this experience still troubles me. Mind you, they only take checks, so you can't even dispute things with them via your credit card provider. The owner of this place needs a serious wake up call on how to work with customers. Remodeling a kitchen is a major decision anyone goes through. You want to believe that even one minor issue with the process is something that The Cabinet Center recognizes and wants to go out their way to help out with. Even a one day delay can feel like a lifetime when your kitchen is gutted. I suffered for many weeks, and The Cabinet Center didn't care. Consider this my fair warning.
