Had a really great experience with Closet Factory, with no hiccups at all. Our designer, Jackie Fey, was fantastic. She worked efficiently to get me a design I loved that's really optimized for my space. I never felt upsold. She genuinely focused on making my space work. We went through a couple of rounds of changes, and she was extremely patient the whole way. We were told installation could take up to eight weeks, but we actually got scheduled two weeks early. Mario and Temo built the whole closet in just 2 days and kept the place really clean. They were polite and efficient, and wrapped up by mid-day. We had 2 closets and one pantry done. I wanted to install a closet system in a new walk-in closet and decided to talk to Closet Factory because I'm a Costco member and trust the brands it recommends. The first step was consulting with one of their designers, which was a great experience. Vasu came to our house for the initial consultation, taking measurements and describing the options available. After that visit, she scheduled a Zoom session to present the layout she recommended to my husband and I, and made changes real-time based on our feedback. The initial quote seemed pricey for a simple build like ours, which was mostly made of hanging rods plus a few shelves with no drawers or doors. But they were running a discount offer at the time and Vasu tacked on another "designer discount" which together took the price down to a number slightly less than a quote we got from another closet vendor so we went with them. Once we approved the design and signed the contract, the job was scheduled. Initially the install date was more than 8 weeks out, which seemed long. So I reached out to Vasu and she said she'd put me on a wait list for an earlier date. A couple weeks after that Irene called to say an earlier date had opened up so we took it, which ended up being a wait of only 4 weeks. The install went quickly and our closet was done in less than three hours...maybe a bit too quickly because 5 days later a kick board along the base of one wall of cabinets became bowed out, sticking out almost an inch from the cabinet base. I called to have it fixed, which ended up taking a couple of tries because nobody showed up for the first appointment. But once the crew came out they ultimately fixed the issue and now my closet is perfect. Reading other reviews, it seems like some people have had issues getting resolution with follow-up repairs. All I can say is if that happens to you, don't give up. Try to reach a live person when you call; don't leave voicemail because it seems like my messages about the first crew not showing up went into a black hole. Once I got on the line with Irene, we got it worked out eventually. Because of the bowed-out board that took a bit of extra effort to get fixed, I'm taking off one star. But overall I'm happy with the final product and might even use them again for another room. read more

I don't usually write reviews but am so incredibly pissed off by this most recent Closet Factory experience that I hope this review helps others who might be deciding between Closet Factory and other competitors. Quick note: Jackie (Designer) has been amazing, very responsive, and incredible at her job -- five stars. We are returning Closet Factory customers and were very satisfied with their previous work in our home. However, our most recent multi-room installation experience (Jackie is not involved in the installation process) has been ABYSMAL AND UNCONSCIONABLE to say the least -- zero stars or maybe one star, if I'm feeling generous: - Day 1 of 3: We took the day off from work to be home for the first day of installations. Got a call 30 minutes before their scheduled arrival time of 8:00 AM and were informed that the installation crew was sick and needed to cancel at the last minute. - Day 2 of 3: We took another day off from work to be home for the second day of installations. We were told that two, two-person crews would show up since they canceled on us the day prior. Thank goodness we were home for installations because there were numerous MAJOR mistakes and missteps that the crews made throughout the day, which we had to continue correcting and monitoring the entire time -- not an enjoyable experience at all and it only created more stress for us. To make matters worse, the crew members claimed that they were not given the designer's renderings for any of the four scheduled installations. Examples of mistakes: - Largest closet installation project: crews installed the closet without the main framing component -- this was way off target and completely different than the renderings we'd agreed to when we signed the Closet Factory contract. They mentioned that they will need to return on another day to remove the entire closet, reinstall new pieces, and actually frame it correctly. Definitely not worth the $9,005 (before taxes and fees) that we paid. - We'd paid more for glass-paneled cabinet doors and were not informed until the DAY OF INSTALLATION that these were backordered without an anticipated arrival date, so the crew (WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING WITH US FIRST) decided to install wooden cabinet doors instead. We were told they'd have to schedule another day in the future to return and install the glass-paneled cabinet doors. - The crews then installed the wooden cabinet doors incorrectly -- way too low and misaligned as well, completely different than the renderings we'd agreed to when we signed the Closet Factory contract. The crews' mistakes led to them ripping out the entire cabinet that they'd installed incorrectly, leaving holes in our walls and damaging our paint plus existing bar countertop. See attached photos of the shoddy job that's definitely not worth the $3,200 (before taxes and fees) that we paid. Also, since one of us is immunocompromised, the crews agreed that it would not be a problem for them to wear masks and shoe coverings inside our home. However, most of them did not end up doing so despite agreeing to this originally, so these actions felt like complete disrespect for the immunocompromised person in our home. We have video evidence of everything as well. Lastly, one of the crew members quickly put on his mask and shoe coverings RIGHT before he walked over to let us know they were done for the day. - Day 3 of 3: We took the day off from work to be home for the third day of installations (tomorrow) -- this project is mainly in the garage. We are very weary of the additional damage that will likely (but hopefully not) be done to our home and immunocompromised person as well. Will update this review afterwards! It's hard for us to even fathom the notion that a seemingly respectable company like Closet Factory would stand by this shoddy work and unprofessionalism. I had my son's closet done and modified my prior closet and Jess was on top of it. He was helpful and efficient. He came before the installers did to make sure they understood what was being done and to make sure there were no snafus. I didn't know this but every closet business, Closet Factory donates a bag to foster kids and I love that. I've done it twice now! This review is way overdue. Jackie and Closet Factory did an amazing job for our home remodel project. Our primary goal last year was to remodel our master bedroom and bathroom, and this expanded to our master closet and garage. Jackie was the master at helping us re-engineer a complete change in our master closet, guest bedroom closet, coat room, and garage. The final product was nothing short of a masterpiece! She created a layout that is nothing short of a work of art for our master closet. She crafted a design that allows us to have multiple layers of hanging clothing areas that doubled our space, with suggestions to our GC on back painting the wall Tiffany blue to make the closet super zen and show worthy. This included soft closing doors in the garage, two levels of hanging space in two guest closets, and a master closet that is a show piece. I'm soooo appreciative Closet Factory! From consultation to installation, everything was quick and seamless. Chris Larose is really the face of Closet Factory and truly, the best person to have representing this brand. He came by and spent a couple of hours mapping out our closets, the right trimming and color. I felt like he was super thorough and answered all of our questions. Chris came and met us mid Feb; quoted installation for March 11, which we were fine with but asked to be put on a list if there's a chance to install quicker. We were completely wow'd when we got the call that they moved up our installation date to Monday Feb 23rd!! Quoted for 2.5 days but it really took 1.5 days to install 3-4 closets. Our installers were Hugo and Juan - they were super nice and accommodating, put down these mats in our place so to protect the floors. They brought in all the materials and got straight to work. So efficient and so nice, we really lucked out. At the end of installation, we noticed a mismatch on shelving length so Hugo waiting for the new shelves to arrive and installed before he left on day 2. Overall, the process was super easy, quick, and accommodating. I had 3 design consultations with closet makers/installers in the area. My husband and I enjoyed working with Vasudha, our designer. In terms of pricing, Vasudha's design was middle of the road. We could've easily went with the cheapest design, but Vasudha's custom design was honestly the best of the 3. We were informed that it would take 2 days for the installation of 3 closets: 2 reach-ins ("studio room" and "play room") and 1 walk-in. Prior to the installation date, I coordinated with Vasudha on which rooms we needed to do on the first day. Day 1: We were told that the installers would come sometime between 8-10am. They showed up late, which was unacceptable to me. If you say you're going to show up within a timeframe, you've got to show up within the window. I called the San Carlos office for an update and left a message since no one answered the phone. At least I received a callback, an apology, and update that the installers were on the way. I saw the Closet Factory van pull up in the driveway, but no one came to the door until I walked outside 20 minutes after they parked and asked if they were ready to start. Appreciated that the installers took all the material out of the closets. They also had to remove the baseboard moulding in order to build the systems flush against the wall. From what I was seeing so far, I was pleased with their construction. I particularly liked how they built in a window for the light switch in the walk-in, which looked very clean. I noticed that they had to do a lot of custom work in the driveway. I thought that the pieces would be pre-built in the shop, which would save them more time. I believe there was some confusion as to what rooms the contractors were going to do first. When I did a walkthrough with the lead contractor, I mentioned that the walk-in and the studio room reach-in were up first. It seemed that he was under the impression that the play room and studio room were intended to be done first. I had explicitly said I needed the walk-in and studio room done on the first day. If anything, they could finish the studio room before the walk-in, because we need this room in order to turn over the play room for the 2nd day. They started my walk-in but finished half of it because they needed material. Ok, no biggie. They said I could hang things in the half of the closet that was finished. The lead contractor said they'll try to finish the studio room. I had to remind him that this is the one room that needed to be completed by today. I was assured that all three rooms would be finished by the next day, which was fine, but I still needed the studio room done. The guys came through on my ask and finished installing the system, but they still had to put the toe kick the next day. Not technically done, but my husband was able to relocate a majority of his stuff from the play room to this room. Day 2: The closet installers came through with getting all 3 closets done, and they even finished way before 4pm. They actually did a great job on 2 of the 3 closets. In the play room closet, my husband and I saw some flaws that did not match up to the original design. Specifically the installers missed a shelf and then screwed in another shelf that was not agreed to as part of the design. I contacted Vasudha, who helped to contact the installation team. I also set an email to the Closet Factory admin regarding the issues with the install. Following Monday: Irene from Closet Factory was super helpful in getting the service team involved. She was basically a liaison between us and the service team as she helped to relay messaging and coordinate schedules for the install team to resolve the issues. We would have had to wait a whole week for the same contractors, so we opted to work with a different set of contractors. Thursday same week: Closet Factory installers came by on time within the 8-10am timeslot. They worked directly with my husband on the changes and brought the missing shelf. He was finally satisfied with this reach-in. Despite the hiccups, I would still recommend Closet Factory. I loved Vasudha's design when she created it, and I'm still in love with the layouts now that we're putting stuff back into them. Closet Factory HQ's admin staff offered great customer service especially in addressing the challenges we had with the contractors' lateness and the closet install issues. We ordered a custom display case/storage for the home office in where the closet was originally located. Leslie was our designer and she was awesome to work with. I loved working with someone who is not afraid to let me know their preference in design. I mean, she is the expert, so of course I'd wanna hear her opinion! She was also very responsive and helpful via text throughout the whole process. We started and signed the design process in mid-June, and the installation happened at the beginning of August. At first I was a bit worried about them having to carry up the finished product (or like portions of it), but they actually build it right there. They have the pieces with them, and I think they refined it a bit more. The garage did get a bit dusty from the sawing, and slightly loud, but it was interesting seeing the before and after. The movers cook care of getting rid of the initial (empty) closet + the original frame so I didn't need to worry about it. They did tell me usually they reserve 1.5 day to finish building, but a lot of time, it can get completed within 1 day. Well, in my case, they had to come back a third time because the lights weren't working properly. They said it was a vendor issue so we had to wait for a replacement part. This was a bit inconvenient since it is difficult locking the cats in for three days (they hate it, and it's a lot of non stop crying), and keeping them out from the home office was difficult as well, but good thing is they were pretty fast on day 2 and they came back for day 3 within a week. I took off a star because I could visually see some imperfection. I did ask them to address the easily fixable imperfections (Leslie also helped me communicated that I wished for replacement cabinet doors since there were scratch marks). For the 3rd day (a week later), it was a different set of installers. They were in charge of adding in the new light and completing the frame portion. They were also the one that I have to sign the completion paper with. I pointed out a few dusty part and some gap I saw, and both Manuel and Carlos did their best helping me polish it up. For the other non-fixable imperfections (ie; a set of knob not lining up perfectly, some uneven surface, black mark at the edge, etc), I could live with, and it's not that obvious from far. For the price, yes it's pricy, but after doing some price comparison, Closet Factory's options were pretty affordable. So overall, value-wise, I'm quite happy with the result. read more

I was connected to Closet Factory via Costco. I made full payment for my project in July 2026 and the installation day was scheduled for this week. What was supposed to be a dream project became a nightmare in my life. Last Friday on August 29th I got a call from the company to confirm the installation day for August 31 and September 1st. The installer came on Monday morning, worked almost full day and came back on Tuesday to finish the installation. The problem is, the crew don't have the doors available to finish their work. Yesterday I contacted the company to try to understand what was happening and the designer Christopher Larose informed me that the company may order the doors in white (this is not the color that I choose) or they got a bad pallet of Mojave doors. Are you serious? If it's really true, why didn't they check it before the project started? Why did nobody tell me before that the project wouldn't be completed as planned? The project that was supposed to be completed this week will now be rescheduled. I got a call from Irene informing me that the only date available for rescheduling the project was September 18th, after I got upset she changed it to September 12th and said if I don't take this date it would be taken for another client and there is nothing she can do. Today I got an email from the manager Michael Kostainksek informing me there was a material defect with the doors and they were not able to complete the installation earlier this week. The only closest date available is September 12, 2026. My bedroom, which was supposed to be nice and organized, can't even be used. Now I have to wait longer than expected to have this nightmare finished. I really don't recommend this company. This experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and far below what we first expect from a vendor. The only reason I chose this company was because it's a Costco-affiliated vendor, but now I learned it doesn't mean anything. Quality control should happen in the warehouse before installation day, not halfway through assembling my unit. Furthermore, threatening to give away a September 12th slot to another customer when they caused the error is completely unacceptable. We signed with Closet Factory in July 2025 with a very clear timeline that everything should be completed by September 2025. Instead, almost ONE YEAR later, we are STILL dealing with unresolved issues and wrong replacement parts. Honestly, this has been one of the most exhausting home project experiences I've ever had. The original installation already had a huge number of problems: - incorrectly cut / unfinished edges in the master closet - missing glass shelves - missing drawers and handles - cracked entry door panel - wrong replacement finishes - incorrect shelf heights - missing corner doors that were clearly part of the approved design - missing jewelry organizers/trays - missing fascia pieces and angled glass shelves What really frustrated me was that EVEN ONE MONTH AFTER the original September deadline passed, there were still major missing pieces and unresolved installation issues everywhere. Which includes - 29 handles - 8 master bedroom glass doors - 8 wood doors - multiple drawers - 10+ glass shelves And every single time someone came back to "fix" something, another issue showed up. On September 16, 2025, we even requested refunds for multiple incorrect doors because the replacements themselves were STILL wrong. Communication was another nightmare. Calls and voicemails would go unanswered for days or weeks, and most of the time we had to keep chasing updates ourselves. As of today, I have 61 back-and-forth emails with Closet Factory just trying to get this project corrected. And now today (May 12, 2026), after waiting months for replacement handles, they shipped handles in the COMPLETELY WRONG SIZE. The new handles are visibly much smaller than the installed ones and do not match the original design at all. At this point I honestly don't understand how there is this little quality control for a "premium" custom closet company. The craziest part is they already charged the full balance long ago, yet almost a year later we are STILL dealing with wrong replacement parts. This project caused months of delays, stress, repeated installation visits, and constant follow-ups just to get basic things corrected. It gets challenging in my building because there's a lot of walking between our garage, taking an elevator, and the halls to my condo, but they were not bothered one bit. We just finished our installation and could not be happier. I was hesitant on a custom closet for my bedroom and kitchen pantry as they do not come cheaply. With that in mind, I wanted to get quotes from several closet installation companies. I had 3 different companies scheduled for our review. After meeting with the 3 different companies, it was an easy decision. We met and ended up working with Jamie at Closest Factory. She was very personable whilst making sure that we had the perfect system that fit our lifestyle and made everyday needs more efficient. Our install was scheduled for 8/17/2026 but Jamie said she would try and get us an earlier date if at all possible. I was ecstatic when I received a call that they could install a full week earlier than originally quoted. I jumped on the opportunity and awaited my new closets. Installation day was simple and straight forward. 2 installers each took a closet space on individually which seemed to be a huge time saver. The whole install took about 5 hours and upon completion they left the space very clean. (They set down floor cloths wherever they are working to protect your floors) Jamie was back in touch with us right after installation to set-up a time to check out the projects. She made sure we were satisfied with our project and is even doing one minor adjustment to make us 110% satisfied with every little detail. Today, Closet Factory's Hugo and Armando installed two closets. They both worked efficiently and professionally. They were polite and cleaned up afterwards. In summary, I highly recommend Closet Factory (they were my go-to company from Costco based on my zip code and I am 100% happy with the entire process and finished closets).
