Once upon a time when I lived in Midtown, when I foolishly believed the convenience of Midtown outweighed its sub-par safety hazards, this particular Valero was my go-to "cheap gas" spot right down the street and close to the gym I worked out at. And every time I stopped here, I did about 2,000 full 360-degree checks while my gas tank filled up. There are always shady characters hanging out on the corners of the lot, and the paranoid inside me always thought something might happen despite being on two of the busiest streets in Midtown. The last time I was hear, an old lady who had probably suffered from substance abuse at one point aggressively approached me with the question, "Sir, I just got out of jail 30 minutes ago and need to find a new home...do you have any money on ya?!" After that experience, I thought it'd be best to not return here any longer.
I've never seen an Audi, Porsche, BMW, etc. pull up to this station for a reason. Despite decent gas prices for a near-downtown gas station, I'd either avoid this place completely, ESPECIALLY at nights, or use extreme caution when coming here. The Chevron down street on Louisiana is definitely the safer option. read more
