BUYERS BEWARE: The auto mechanic here is a scam artist. BUYERS BEWARE Shell Gas Station, 920 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77006 On March 23, 2023, I brought my F-150 in because it had a water leak; this Shell Station auto mechanic told me the AC UNIT was leaking. This gas station auto mechanic said we could fix this the right way for $2,200 or the cheap route for $400.00. He stated the correct way to fix it was to remove the dashboard steering wheel, cut some wires to access the leaking AC unit lower valve, and replace the gasket. Then this auto mechanic stated that the cheap fix would be putting silicone around the lower AC UNIT valve for $400. This conversation occurred next door (900 Richmond AVE) at 3:35 PM when I initially dropped off my F-150 that morning. BUYERS BEWARE Today, March 28, 2023, I took my F-150 to my local auto mechanic shop (Crossview Dr, Houston, TX), and they said they had never heard of removing the entire dashboard to replace a leaking AC unit gasket with confused looks on their faces. They ran the AC unit diagnostics, checked for leaks, inspected the vehicle, and determined the windshield was leaking. I'm glad I DID NOT pay this lying auto mechanic $2,200.00. BUYERS BEWARE. This place was a complete total waste of time and money. Some birds had a field day on my car and I hoped that the car wash could help make her sparkle again. I was hoping to get the deluxe carwash package, but alas, the card reader was not working. I regret to inform you that I was stuck with what my limited cash could afford... the $6 basic car wash. Or maybe I should call it a car moistening package because that's about all it did. Didnt even dry my car! I left carriage with a multitude of remaining poop spots on my car body and windshield, as pictured, and headed over to the gas pumps to manually remove them myself with the nasty brown water in between stations. If I return to the shell car wash, which I do not intend to do, I will make sure to get the deluxe package or a hand washing service. read more

This Shell station is located at the intersection of Richmond Ave. & Montrose Blvd. It's generally clean & the pumps work just fine. But be aware that gas in Montrose costs considerably more than that in Midtown & Museum Park. Gas at this station regularly costs 20-40 cents more than that at the Gulf (formerly a Texaco) just on the other side of Rt. 527, 0.4 miles down the road. The Gulf station even offers a discount of 10 cents per gallon, for customers who pay in cash. This station does not. Today, the cost of unleaded regular at the nearby Gulf station (at 411 Richmond Ave.) is only $2.159 ($2.059 for those paying in cash). The cost of regular at this Shell station is $2.699, a whopping 64 cents more per gallon, for those paying in cash (see my pic). And the Gulf station is more convenient for those getting on 59 South, or exiting 59 North. So get out of your comfort zone, and take your business just up the road. It pays to discover. read more

Regular gas was $.30 more per gallon than the Shell five blocks away, and the station attendant purposely ignored us while trying to make a purchase through the window at 10 pm. We saw that he was there through the window. We knocked multiple times to get his attention, but he refused to come sell us what we needed. read more

Easy access from Richmond and Montrose with lots of room to get to the gas pumps. But this is a gas station, so why would I review it? Well, this gas station has one perk that a lot of other gas stations don't: free air for your tires and free water for your radiator. Most gas stations make you pay 50¢, 75¢, or even a $1 or more! But, this place gives you that little perk of free air for your tires. My tires were low last night and a little yellow light came on my warning panel. I was so pleased to pull in here and find free air! I was relieved because I didn't have a bunch of quarters to feed into a machine just so it could spit out air at my tires. The service here is great! I went because I needed air in my tires and don't have a gauge to know how much air to put in them. One of the guys came out and helped me right away no problem. I really appreciate the small token of help that I got today. There is a closer Shell to me but I would much rather go here. read more

I freaked out when I got my first car pressure alert. I have never encountered this problem before so I stopped at this gas station. Good thing the air pump is free! But my problem is not over, because I literally had no idea how to refill my tire. After struggling for a while, I finally gave up and asked the service station mechanics. He was super nice, and helped and taught me how to fill my tire up. I felt bad that I didn't buy any gas and the mechanics knew that I didn't buy anything too, but he was still willing to drop his work momentarily to help this lost soul! Really great service especially for a gas station! I would come back to fill up my car to repay my gratitude to this free air pump station and the friendly mechanics! read more

My car started to overheat tremendously while driving to work, and luckily, I was just close enough to this Shell station to park and leave it without doing damage to my car. I work right across the street, so I dropped off my car and said 'It's overheating.' and went to work. I've had extensive, extensive problems with my 2001 BMW 525i. From the day I got it around 7 years ago, there hasn't been a period of six months where I haven't had to replace or drop at the very least a few hundred bucks on something- mostly, on overheating problems. So, I am not new to the stresses of seeing that temp gauge go all the way red and smoke billowing from under the hood. I handed Botis (the owner of the shop) the papers from the work I've had done in the past, (just four months ago, I paid $600 to get some work done down the street that pretty much fixed nothing). He kept this in mind, and let me know he wasn't going to try to 'sell' me anything I didn't need. From the start, I could tell this was an honest car shop, and they weren't trying to screw me over; I've had enough work done on my car to be able to tell when I'm about to be taken for a ride. I told him I knew my car was a mess (my dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree), but that I only wanted to diagnose the overheating problem, not the CEL or anything else. I told him I wanted my car to last for another year, and then I am planning on chunking it off a cliff, and getting something more reliable. He told me what I needed to have done to achieve this, and gave me a very fair estimate. Unfortunately, as is the nature with my car (and old BMWs), things kept piling up as we dug deeper to diagnose the problem. What was one issue, led to a whole slew of other issues, that, if not fixed, would compromise the work he was doing in the first place. Each time he called me to let me know what else he needed to do, he was very calm and nice, reminded me again that he's not trying to rip me off or screw me over, but that I needed an extra x,y, z part. He ended up doing beautiful work on my car for a VERY fair price- and it drives WONDERFULLY. I almost ended up being emotional when I finally went to pick up my car, as my Dad is usually the one who handles my car issues for me, and I just moved from a few states away from him to Houston. This is really the first time I had to make educated decisions by myself about repair work, and this automotive repair shop always made me feel safe about my decisions and were very reassuring and helpful. I plan on returning to them in a few months to have my oil changed. read more

I have to take exception with the wave of praise heaped upon this "Service Station." I had the misfortune to visit this morning and the owner was not present. I filled my tank in self serve and when I finished I noticed my tires seemed low. I pulled the car up to the air hose and asked for help with filling them. I was told that air is only for full serve gas buyers, he said: "that's how we make our paycheck." He grudgingly filled the tires, and refused my $5 tip. Is this the new normal? If so, the policy should be stated : EXTRA SERVICE FOR FULL SERVICE GAS BUYERS ONLY. I am going back to ROBERT'S MOBIL EXXON in River Oaks where they understand service! read more

This is just due to the fact that this is the MOST EXPENSIVE station in the area. Go down to W. Alabama and there are two much cheaper stations, including another Shell. read more

THIS is the most awesome place on the planet ! I stopped by to get power steering fluid and I was there 15 min. He called the dealership to verify the type - looked in my owners manual an then never even charged me! They also have FULL service - if you need it. The guys here are excellent mechanics and super friendly. They have always gone out of their way to help me as quickly and inexpensively as possible. The air conditioner broke in my car last week, I needed to replace the blower motor and resistor as well as replace the cabin filter. They got it done for half the cost of what Montrose Car Care Center quoted me (I would avoid that place for sure) the same day the parts arrived. And they filled my washer fluid because it was empty and they noticed, I love that !!!! Thanks again for the best service !!!! read more
