I came here to get a manicure. I was waiting for my hotel room to be ready to check in. The Asian lady was kind of rude and she said she had other people coming. I politely said I had no problem waiting. Since her appointment were late she said she will do me first. I've never had a faster or poorly done manicure in my life! It took less than 8 minutes! Barely any massage and for the price she charged me extra for paying with my ATM card. I told her I had cash for tip but you know what? I'm keeping it! read more

The last time I was here, a woman who did not speak English gave me a pedi. When she was done, she walked away and starting cleaning up and arranging things in a supplies room. I sat at the foot bath area for about 10 minutes and then called, should I go to the drying area? The owner called out that the manicurist would be right back. 10 minutes later, I call out again asking what to do. The owner finally calls the manicurist out and she walks me to the dryer machine. I have had my nails done for many years and Valerie's Nails is one of the best nails salons around. It is very clean. Valerie herself is extremely nice and truly cares about her clients. I have been coming to Valerie's on and off over the past 17 years. Only because of MY unpredictable schedule do I go elsewhere for convenience sometimes. I have had my nails done every 2-4 weeks for 20 years and have been to Ritz Carton like spas. Minus the uber spa setting Valerie's does not fall short in service or craft. The women here are so kind and accommodating always. Some of the negative reviews here reek of ignorance and insecurity. It's a heavy accusation to make that they are gossiping about you when you don't understand their language. If you know anything about languages foreign to you, you would know some are spoken in tones that may not sound poetic to you with high pitches. That does not mean necessarily that they are disgruntled andtalking badly and about YOU! Get it together ladies, you know how women are in this country in particular, most talk about each other. Whether behind your back or to your face. If you were a secure person you wouldn't care at all! And yes, we live in America, a country that welcomes and embraces all cultures. i am sorry, i disagree with the others. I have been going to valerie's for over 25 yrs and i have never, ever had any issues there, and have always been treated very well. I have had no problem calling last minute to get an appointment, the place is always clean and the people that work there are very friendly. i have tried a couple of other places once i moved out of pacifica and moved to the other side of the hill and have gotten infections and have come back to valerie's and have never had any problems... EVER.. I have been in other places where the employee's also speak their own language but that does not bother me. If you treat people with a little respect, you should not feel like they are talking about you. If you cant afford to pay cash to get your nails done than maybe you should not be getting your nails done. i have refered many friends to valerie's and they are very happy and have no complaints. i like all the ladies that work there and i think they are very respectful to ALL their customers. Sometimes there is just no pleasing someone and if you are that picky then go to a place where they are high end and pay the big bucks. They say you get what you pay for and beleive me, i am very happy with the service i get at Valerie's and i still think that she has the best prices in town. WORST EXPERIENCE. purchased gift certificates for mani and pedi, gave it to my 86 year old father in law. When he went in, he was told it was expired. He had the mani/pedi anyway and paid for it. Later I asked him how he liked it, and he explained what happened. I told him to give me the certificate and I would go back and explain to them, In California gift certificates do not expire. He told me they took the certificate from him while he was there. Today, I went back and explained the situation to Valerie. She was totally unsympathetic, that I had no proof, since I didn't have the certificate she wasn't going to do anything about it. My husband and I got upset that she had taken advantage of an 86 year old man, she said her certificates do expire and I told her they do not, it is California law, she still refused to do anything. What type of business owner takes advantage of an elderly man? Crook! DO NOT PATRONAGE THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! read more

I having been going to Valeries since they opened years ago. I have stopped getting my nails done there, due to economic reasons, but I do still get my brows down and a occassional pedicure. She knows me by name and I like that. i always feel welcome and treated with respect. I also do not live in Pacifica anymore, but this is the only place I go and I suggest it to anyone that asks. She always keeps it clean. I have never had fungus either and i can say I have had at least 30 pedicures and when I had my acrylic I would say at least 50 times. I never felt like they were talking about me and I never heard them talking about customers. I recommend them. read more

For some reason someone recommended this place. I decided to get gel nails with white tips and the next day I noticed they were lifting and water was getting in them. I went back in and showed them and the answer I got was that my cuticle was dry. She then tried to put nail glue where the lifting occurred as a "fix". It is now 3 days after my nails were done and they are horrible. All of them are lifting and have water underneath where it's lifting. To be told to come back in 2 weeks for a fill and to not repair them is unacceptable. I hope I don't get a fungus by the time I get back in there to demand my money back. 3 days for gel nails to last is unheard of! And yes, when I went back in there the 2 nail technicians were discussing me in another language right in front of me. read more

Valerie's Nail Salon is a great nail place. To me i think it's the best Nail Salon in Pacifica. I've been going there since they opened and i love it. One time i went to the nail salon at the one in Linda Mar and in my opinion i didn't like it at all. They had bad service and talked to other languages way to much! I've always ended up back at Valerie's Nails. I know other people have been posting bad stuff but i think they're not happy. I just move from Oregon, where i had gel put on my nail (not power gel) the real gel pink in white, finely I found the place in Pacifica that Valerie said to me over the phone that they do that I made a appointment. for Sat. 9-3-11 when I got there I had too explain what time of gel I was talking about.... so they say "oh yes we do that" this person call Cindy starting doing my nail she put the gel first than the white tip, but the white tip would not stay on my mail it would not dry, I told her that looks like the gel is very old, so I suggested to let me under the dry for a littler longer so it can be dry. then she started filling down and the white gel comes out of my nail so she try it again. will Sunday I look at my nail and the white of my thumb is of than Monday the ring finger is coming out too. so I call Valerie to let her know that what had happen and I would like them to fix, I go there and Valerie said to me" I can not take you right now because I have to leave to the San Francisco for appointment" and this other lady will help me, so I waited after almost 15 minutes she said to me that she can fix but it will be power instead of gel, I was so anger I walk out and NEVER going back to that place. And also Valerie quote $30.00 than when I get there is $40.00. I do not like to be treat that way DON'T GO THERE....................................................... read more
