This company was contacted by AAA on Sunday after contacting a few other companies in the surrounding area. We were eventually picked up and towed by Tyler C. He was very pleasant and committed to his job. We were entertained for 93 miles and arrived safe and sound. As the for the value of this service, this was covered under our AAA Premium membership and out of our control, but, we highly appreciated Value-U-Auto for their willingness to have an available driver to assist us out of staters on a Sunday! read more

Poor service. Waited over 5 hours. When I called to check the status. The manager was very rude and unprofessiona. He wouldn't even check to see the location of the driver to provide an ETA. I had an emergency where my dad had to be helicopter lifted to the ER. Anyway heading to support my mother about 175 miles away. My car broke down, the transmission failed, luckily it's under warranty. But through Carvana Val-u auto was the roadside assistance. My tow driver Frank, was fast and efficient. He kept communication letting me know the departure, ETA, etc. the tow was fully covered by my service. Great value! He arrived at my location in about a hour which gave me enough time to grab a burger and fries. Highly recommend. Defused a stressful situation on a stress day fast. read more

Called Good Sam to send out a tow truck at approximately 11am. They contract Val-U towing out of Binghamton. 2 hour wait! No truck shows! Calls go back and forth. 7 HOURS Later, the Val-U dispatcher( owner) tells me a truck broke down and another will be sent out of Syracuse. I chuckle at the absurdity of the day. The guy gets offended and says" I don't see what's funny about my truck breaking down" .I reply that it is not a mocking laugh but a laugh of a long crappy day. He replies in frustration and contempt, " I'm going to cancel your tow" . Im taken back but screw it..go ahead. I'm still broken down. Wasted my day with this joke of a business. read more

Went to get one and when got back he saw d he got it He broke piece or lost piece and call company to fix and they said they would order new one. NON-RESPONSIVE! Call somewhere else! I called for roadside service for a dead battery and they missed their arrival time and then kept pushing their ETA forward again and again until 3 hours later when not only did they tell me their only driver was currently in another state, but they hung up on me when I tried to understand what their plan was and if they could send another technician. Pay attention to the one-star reviews - they are a more accurate description of their poor service. read more

I was on my way home driving on the highway when my tire pressure light came on and said 0. I immediately got off the next exit and pulled into a parking lot. After calling my insurance's roadside assistance I was told VAL-U towing would be there in 90 minutes. Someone was there in 15 minutes and was very kind and professional. He had my tire changed in no time and I was on my way. My only regret is not getting his name to properly thank him. Horrible service! I called for a tow and waited over 6 hours in the cold and snow and they still didn't show up. I called them every 45 minutes to 1 hour and they kept saying they were busy and to call back in 45 minutes. Then five hours after my initial call, they told me their driver had called me when he didn't and they were nasty when I asked if they had the correct phone number for me. They said of course we have your number I'm looking at caller id. Then they told me they would do a three way call with me and the driver and promptly told me now he was in a no-service area with his phone. I called my insurance company and they tried to get a response and told me this company was nasty on the phone with them too! I finally gave up and called a different local tow company who showed up in five minutes. When I told them I was waiting 6 hours for a tow they immediately asked if it was this company and said they are a joke and to avoid them at all costs. All around horrible service. My MINI had to be towed to Rochester from Ithaca yesterday. Every cost was handled and arranged under warranty. I read negative reviews on Yelp about Val-U Towing after I heard they had been hired and I was apprehensive. My fears were totally unwarranted! Cory, the driver, arrived promptly. He expertly and carefully loaded my car on his truck. He patiently explained how this was done and answered my questions with respect, courtesy and friendliness, all while working on an icy, steep, driveway in sub-20 temps. I was so impressed by him, I decided to travel with him rather than taking an Uber which had been provided. It was a good choice! Despite the almost 50 year difference in our ages, the conversations were interesting and enjoyable. He was always concerned about my comfort. I was most impressed by his mastery of his job and dedication to being a good representative of Val-U towing. I hope they appreciate what a gem he is. This is a long-winded way of saying that while Yelp reviews can be useful tools, they can also be weapons written to hurt a business which may or may not be at fault. I am going to be scrupulous from now on before I trust that the reviewer is right in their assessments. If you need a towing company, I highly recommend calling Val-U Towing. read more

Had to have a tow last night 1/12/24 and the first driver who came was rude and irrigant and told me good luck finding someone to tow my daughter's car 40 miles out of their way. He left us there and canceled my tow through AAA, he even sat across the street to watch us sitting there waiting for another truck to come. When Merideth called him to ask him what he was doing made up a lie and then drove off. His name is Chris out of Binghamton. Luckily Meridith who is the dispatcher was able to work with the AAA supervisor to get me a tow with another driver. (Need to say Chris called AAA and lied about me so they would not provide me a service due to claims of me swearing and screaming at him) lies, I don't swear, i called him an idiot because he came out of his truck with his bad attitude and rude mouth and mocking me. We were so thankful for Merideth getting Nate to tow her car home and with no incidences. I just wanted draw attention and give recognition to the real customer service people. Chris you should not be in customer service at all and if you don't like your job find one you don't have to deal with people in a crisis. This was also during a Winter weather advisory so to leave people stranded is not good customer service regardless of your personal problems. read more

I had to get my car towed about 30 miles, and my insurance company connected me with Val-U Towing. The driver was very courteous when he called me and the gentleman at the office was just as friendly. My car was being towed to my house, and this neighborhood can be a little confusing. I was all set to text the driver a picture of my house, but I saw on my camera that the car was already in my driveway. No issues, no problems, just great service! read more

Terrable Service and they lie, Car broke down they kept telling us 30 minutes and the last phone call our insurance company made to them they lied and said they picked up the car so we went to see and it was still there had them cancelled and got a reliable tow company Car broke down at pm and at 9 pm they still hadn't picked it up plus the man is very Rude. read more

Absolutely terrible company. Our RV broke down in NY, and was still covered under warranty. Ford found this company to tow the RV to our trusted dealer, and we were told the company would arrive in 1 1/2 hours. They did not arrive until mulitple hours later. We have tracking on our motor home, and after they picked it up, drove it to Val U's shop, where it sat for over an hour. When we called to ask what was going on (very politely), they lied multiple times, not knowing we were tracking it. Once we stated that we were tracking it's location, and that they should have had it to the shop hours ago, we were cursed out, called names, and lied to some more. We then decided to wait at our dealer until it arrived, hoping it would be in one piece. 7 hours after it was promised (almost 10pm) our RV showed up where we requested. To say the least, the owner was the most disgusting person I've ever done business with. I would HIGHLY WARN ANYONE looking into having them tow your vehicle to STAY AWAY.
