Updating my review as we have functional internet finally. I feel so relieved and quite satisfied.

I have been a customer for 1 week as a Bonaventure property management re nter in Richmond but have been impressed with the responsiveness and friendliness of all of the customer service reps at Skywire while trying to figure out my router set up issues. At least 2 call backs from Skywire took place after my initial call to set up service (after 9pm no less, speaking with a live woman from New York). Internet has been smooth for my phones and laptops here thus far. It's early but honestly no complaints. Really appreciate the thorough follow up from this company. read more

Terrible.. Terrible service! I've been calling since December for someone to come out and connect my internet and cable. Of course my apartment complex is just as useless as VA Skywire so dealing with both at the same time was a complete nightmare. I literally have no tv basically no channels no anything, I don't know how many escalation tickets they've put in for me but clearly no one pays attention to those. The unprofessionalism of this company is astonishing they didn't even have a complete contract with Directv before switching us all to this box, so we couldn't have any service literally until this day! I'm honestly afraid to call and have them set up service because I might be told to put in yet another escalation ticket. Stay away from any apartment complex that says internet and cable included especially if they offer SkyWire!! read more

The internet connection is awful. I can't even get my TV/PS4 to connect to the internet.

I cannot believe how poor this service is. This is the 3rd time in 2 weeks it has gone down, no wired or wireless. It happened 6 days ago, we called in and got a response they would escalate. 4 hours later, we hadn't t heard so I had to call back. Dealing with Comcast hell is far better than this spotty service. their fastest package...was the fastest package for Verizon fios in 2006. Seriously I pay 29.95 for 30mb/s literally across the alley from me my friend gets 940mb/s for $80. That's right 31x the speed...for a little over double the price. It would literally be better for me to go out and buy 100 feet of cat 7 cable and run it across the alley into my appartment and split the cost with him. Literally somehow this company has convinced the HOA that this is a good idea. if you are thinking about moving into a building where skywire is your only option, just don't. Seriously pick a different place to live. The support is super nice and the employees are nice but...who fucking cares? Tl;DR Internet speeds of the 2006 era, very nice customer service. I have called multiple times over multiple weeks and never received a call back from the service tech as promised. each time saying it would be within 24 hours. The first gentleman that I talk to is always very respectful and apologetic but I still have zero internet after living in my building for almost 2 months so now I no longer care. This internet service was given to me without a choice when I had to move to a renovated unit in my apartment complex. When I moved in, I was told I only had to buy a coaxial cable and hook up my tv. Which I did. The internet services constantly goes out. I've called customer service more than 10 times, and the customer service reps keep telling that I now have to purchase an Ethernet cable and hook it up to the TV if I want consistent cable. They are a scam and this is just a way to get people money and not provide proper services. They are unprofessional and I recommend they be shut down and be forced to close their business. read more

This is by far the worst internet service I have ever dealt with. I have been having issues with the internet for 6 months now, I had a technician come out to try to fix it. It worked while he was here and as soon as he left out it went out again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this service to anyone at all. I wrote an email to the president of VA Skywire, Scott Coonfield, and to his credit, he responded quickly and seemed genuinely interested in solving my problems. The Internet is running fine now. I have added a star to reflect Mr. Coonfield's positive actions. As for the overall service, I'll give it a few months and change the score accordingly based on performance and customer service experiences, going forward. read more

3 days and still no cable, no call back from customer service. Dropped me 2 boxes instead of one, only to tell me that I need to pay a monthly payments on the extra box or pay to ship it back to them. Terrible service that will only try to con you. I STRONGLY do not recommend. read more

If I could leave zero stars i would. Absolutely horrible product and i would pay an obscene amount of money to get away from them as a primary ISP. Their product is absolutely unacceptable in todays world, and would have been seen as third rate even in the early 2000s. Half the time it doesn't work, the half it does is slow and terrible. The quality fluctuates on the weather. Ill be looking into other living situations as a direct result of this company and will recommend against them at all possivle avenues. read more

I've had some ongoing issues with VA SkyWire since I moved into my new apartment in February, mostly to do with the call center. Today some issues occurred that finally resulted in me meeting with the owner, Scott Coonfield. Originally I had no idea he was the owner (only found that out when he gave me his card as the meeting ended). He was so professional, handled my issue, asked for constructive feedback, explained to me some steps he was going to implement to improve customer service. He genuinely seemed interested in my concerns and seemed willing to take steps to improve the experience for his customers. read more

Wow. Subpar doesn't even begin to describe this company. I've been in the process of setting up an account with VA Skywire for two days now. The first day, I called and never even got the chance to speak to an actual human being. After being on hold for about 20 minutes, I hung up and tried calling back again. I was on hold for another ten minutes. Then I decided to leave a message for the "preferred callback" voicemail, but the mailbox was full. (Awesome!) (Kidding.) So, I called back for a fourth time and pressed the number for technical service. (Maybe I'll speak to a real-life person & could be transferred to customer service.) The tech guy was less than enthusiastic. He said he was "unable" to transfer me and asked me if there was anything he could do to help. I explained I simply wanted to set up an account for the internet / cable package. He told me he couldn't set up my account because "only customer service can do that" and that I should "try to give customer service a call back and maybe they'll answer". I decided I'd had enough of Skywire for one day and told him that's all I needed, to which said, "Is there anything else I can help you with today?" (Is that a joke?) Day Two: I called back the next day and waited on hold for about 20 minutes and much to my surprise, somebody answered. It was another tech person. (Are you sure a customer service dept exists?) I explained to him that I am trying to set up my account at my new apartment. He told me to plug my laptop into the ethernet. I explained I wanted the internet / cable package. He said he didn't know much about the cable setup (because "cable is provided by Directv, not Skywire"). When I asked to be transferred to someone that could answer my questions about the Directv portion of the package, he told me he couldn't connect me to anyone at this time because they only speak directly to customers when an inquiry has been filed. (I know, I'm still in shock that Skywire is still in business.) Anyway, he told me he wrote down my questions and would submit an inquiry, but that they only do callbacks on M-F from such and such hour to such and such hour, except for lunchtime which is at... blah blah blah... So. Again. I'm still not setup for internet / cable. Unreal. read more

Update: customer service was quick to respond to this issue and called me to discuss and resolve this "altercation". Why the original experience was not exactly pleasant because of that rogue employee, I am satisfied with how it was handled after the fact. read more
