They use classic bait-and-switch tactics to avoid taxes and overcharge customers. Initially, they quoted me a ridiculous $930 for labor on my Lexus ES350, then offered to "lower" it to $790 only if I paid in CASH. This is clearly a tactic to avoid taxes while still charging premium rates. I provided all my own parts (spark plugs and two catalytic converters). Even though they only installed ONE of the two converters, they still forced me to pay the full "cash price" we had discussed for the entire job. When I asked about the second converter--which is a simple 30-minute job in the front of the engine--the mechanic tried to extort another $350 from me! To make it worse, the mechanic lied to my face about the technical difficulty of the job to justify his price hiking, claiming the rear catalyst is easier to access than the front one (a blatant lie to anyone who knows Lexus engines). These people are not honest mechanics; they are predators looking for cash-heavy transactions. The shop is empty for a reason. Check the other reviews--I'm not the only one they've tried to scam. Do yourself a favor and go to a professional shop that accepts cards and provides honest estimates.

My first experience was just stopping by to get my cars inspected, but I am now a customer for life. After having other places fail my cars in the past for a burned out marker light or turn signal and offer to replace said bulb for $50 it was surprised when Autohaus replace the bulb for $1.75. The actual cost of the bulb and no charge for the minute or two of labor to put it in. It's refreshing to see a family run repair shop focused on building customer relationships by providing great service and an honest price. I will recommend this place to everyone.

When they failed it citing that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced, as did a bearing in a front wheel, I took it to Fries to confirm since I was unfamiliar with the original shop. After looking at the truck, they replaced the bearing and said the brakes and rotors were fine, and they passed the inspection. A couple of months later, the ignition locked up, so I had AAA tow the truck to Fries to have them look at it. I also asked that they look at the check engine light, which was on, and a squeak that was coming from the rear of the truck. They called me back and let me know that it would take a while but would be $600; I authorized this. I received a call as promised that the truck was ready. I asked if they'd looked at the check engine light or the squeak. They had not but said they would. I received a call that a pressure sensor was causing the check engine light. I did not authorize anything and asked about the squeak. They had not looked at it but said they would. During this time, they continuously called my husband despite us both asking that they call me. They called me only a couple of times, and when I called back I left a voicemail. I never received a return call from any of my messages. Two days ago, I received a call when I was out of town for work. They said the calipers needed replacement, so I assumed that was the squeak. I was told it would be $2,700 so I said I would need to check with my mother (who is on a fixed income and lives alone since my dad died two years ago but insists upon paying for things herself). Today, I called to say that I would be picking the truck up and would pay the $600 bill. At that point, they informed me that the bill was over $2,000 because they had replaced the brakes and rotors, claiming that my husband had authorized it, which I knew to be untrue. The employee even admitted that my husband had said he would not authorize repairs. He told me he would find out who authorized it since it appeared to have happened while he was on vacation and he would call me back. Knowing I could not actually expect a return call, I got in the car with my husband and drove to Fries. When I arrived, I explained to Billy that I had come there to avoid getting swindled by a shop I didn't know when I was told the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced in the not-so-distant future, and that Fries had (upon passing my dad's truck in the safety inspection) had agreed that this was unnecessary. I asked why this work was suddenly authorized and done without my knowledge at all when just a month or so before Fries had told me it was unnecessary, and I had take the truck in for an ignition problem and simply asked them to look at a few minor things. He explained that he could make a call to see if there was anything they could do on the pricing, but that he would have to call me and I could not take the truck then. I asked him to call someone right away, because I was not leaving without taking the truck as it had been almost a month. When Billy walked in the back, I was surprised to see him followed by Gene, the owner, who apparently was onsite not requiring any call back. When Gene came out, he immediately informed me that my husband, who he did not know was in the car, had authorized the work before telling Billy that he was uncomfortable authorizing anything because it wasn't his vehicle, but my mother's. This obviously made no sense, so I called my husband in. My husband informed them that no such thing had happened. Had Fries simply admitted to the mistake and attempted to make some kind of concession, I probably would have been fine. I work in the service industry myself, and I understand these things happen. Instead, my husband and I were essentially called liars, and I was told that it was my fault that the vehicle had been there for so long because I didn't answer my phone. They had no excuse for constantly calling my husband instead of me, and for not returning any of the (at least six) voicemails I had left, or the call I had made directly with a human being last week. I was told that I was not leaving with that truck unless I paid the bill they claimed was due. Once I realized I was being held hostage, I will admit, I went COMPLETELY off (not sorry), at which point the owner's wife felt the need to say that her husband was no liar (again insinuating that my husband and I are), and further stating that if I didn't like it, I could just take them to court. I had to truncate this for space, but you get the idea. I would never recommend this place.

However, things took a turn when Julian had to consult with his service manager, Tamara, regarding the battery and whether it would be covered by the warranty. It was at this point that problems arose. Tamara suddenly claimed that none of the work on the lights would be covered due to pre-existing superficial damage to one of the taillights, which I had not mentioned when dropping off the vehicle. It's important to note that the issue I brought in the vehicle for concerned all four lights malfunctioning, not just the damaged taillight. Throughout the process, Tamara displayed rudeness and a lack of professionalism, refusing to assist me in any way and making the situation needlessly difficult. To make matters worse, Tamara decided to reissue a report that had already been sent to me, now including a charge for a diagnostic fee for the lights. The existence of the small damage was already known when I dropped off the vehicle, and no mention was made of a diagnostic fee until Tamara became involved. When I arrived at the office, I was surprised to find a new bill that included this charge, even though Julian had previously sent me the same bill without it. Julian seemed almost embarrassed to hand me the updated bill, knowing that Tamara had added the charge. Throughout the entire process, Julian tried his best to maintain professionalism and rectified the situation by removing the obviously unfounded diagnostic charge. Moreover, when I entered the office, Julian was kind and provided me with good service, acting as if there were no issues. However, Tamara positioned herself aggressively close to me, making me feel confronted, and repeatedly asked if I was satisfied with her service, despite our previous conflicts and my expressed dissatisfaction. It appeared to be an intentional attempt to provoke a reaction. Overall, the experience with Julian was positive, but Tamara's behavior was unprofessional, aggressive, and tarnished the reputation of your company. I was under the impression that inspections were covered by my warranty based on previous visits, but Tamara insisted otherwise unless I could provide specific warranty clauses. In the end, it all felt very unprofessional and was an embarrassment to your company's name."

They gave my whole car a clean bill of health(this will be important later) except for a "coolant leak". They said they needed to pressure test and dye my system and see where the leak was coming from to the tune of 150$. NEVER PAY FOR A PRESSURE TEST!! auto zone will rent you a pressure test system FREE OF CHARGE. So I went and got an autozone test kit and pressure tested the system. No leaks!! It was my ac compressor that was leaking a bunch of PAG oil. The leak had nothing to do with my coolant at all. A day later my ac compressor completely broke down so that's when I went ahead and replaced my compressor and dryer my self which cost me about 250$, but it can be an extensive job, a shop will charge you well over 600$ for it. If I had been someone who wasn't car savvy and just let them pressure test it to find no leak then charge for ac compressor replacement I'd be out a lot of money. The " professional technicians" should have seen that it was clearly leaking from the compressor, the coolant was not low even a little. Either they were trying to take advantage of me and charge me for a service they know I didn't need and rip me off or they were too incompetent to see that liquid clearly dripping from my ac compressor wasn't coolant.
