ordered pad thai for lunch. i was starving. it was about 3:00pm. Food came out very quickly. What came out was nothing like ANY pad thai i have ever seen. The noodles were very thin , like vermicelli and the sauce was sickeningly sweet and inundated the noodles and the veggies. Awful. tasted like it came out of a can. I came here during a weekday for lunch. I got a pho. The broth was flavorful and came with all the regular accoutrements. My husband got the curry chicken rice. It was not a very busy restaurant, seems like they are set up to do mostly takeout orders during the day. Both of our orders came out relatively quickly. I found it odd that they put a dash of black pepper on top of the soups. This place could be nice for a dinner spot for a small group (fewer than 5 people). We have been there a 5 or 6 times. Food has always been OK. On Saturday, my husband ordered a tofu-noodle dish. It came as an unappetizing brown pile and the tofu tasted like it was fried in old oil. We sent it back and my husband ordered another dish which was adequate. When the bill came, we were charged 50% for the dish we sent back. The waiter had said the owner insisted upon that. The owner came in and continued to argue with us. We finally said, we will pay the 50%, but will never go back again. What a poor business decision on the part of the owner. read more

I always get the Pad WoonSen spice Lv3-4 but I was adventurous and tried the Lv5! Unfortunately, food won but I was sooo close to finishing it . If you finish then you don't pay and they have not been conquered as of yet ! Even though it was spicy , it was still very flavorful as always . The food was good nothing wrong with it but it was basically all noodles. Both main dishes we bought $18 and $22.99 all noodles. I ordered more in it but we were shocked at what little protein we got. I mean MAYBE one 3" piece of meat sliced thin like paper. We ordered take out and I have to say asking for a tip on take out pushes my buttons. It's on the bill so yes I opted no tip but I wonder if that's why we got no food?? In house I'm a 15-20% tipper. We also bought an appetizer $12 which also had one shrimp sliced so thin it was shared with all the spring rolls. one shrimp . We won't go again because we didn't get more than noodles for $60. Wonderful hidden gem tucked in the corner ofa strip mall, very easy to miss. But inside it's a lovely setting serving perfect Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. The pho I had was perfect in every respect. Price was very reasonable, especially with the lunch discount. The owner is Vietnamese and an absolutely wonderful person, very congenial and easy to converse with. The "V" in V Thai stands for Vietnamese, and unless you research it on Yelp, you'd never know it is the specialty of the house. Important because I'm not a Thai food fan. We liked the previous Thai restaurant in this location but always open to change, we tried V Thai tonight during a Covid take out. The menu has good selections, plenty of variety. The food was average quality with some basic mistakes. The dishes are a combo of Thai and Vietnamese with higher than they should be pricing. Dishes range from $16-26 and nothing special for the $$$. It seems that today's Asian restaurants use the word fusion as cause enough to jack up the menu. Not impressed. Ordered a large wonton soup and received the attached picture, very short on broth. Green curry with tofu was mediocre, too pasty and the tofu had an off flavor. Glass noodles with shrimp was good except the shrimp had an off flavor. Vietnamese rolls were probably the best thing we had, solid with a good peanut sauce. We also had an unmemorable chicken dish. Overall so so so so. Wouldn't rush back but if I was nearby and in the mood for Thai fusion, might try it again. Or not. read more

Went to V Thai for the first time with my family a couple of days ago and I have no desire to return. My son and his wife have been a couple of times, we went on their recommendation. My son ordered a dish that was so over the top spicy it was inedible. My son likes spicy food and had ordered the same dish at this restaurant twice in the past and loved it but this time he sent it back. They remade the dish but let us know that they would be changing us an additional fee to remake the food, which I paid since we really didn't have any other option. Never again will they be seeing us in their restaurant. I should have told the waitress to ask the cook to eat a bite of his cooking in front of us to see his face turn red from the heat ! read more

Finally got a chance to try out this place. Went on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The place was empty, but don't let that bother you! Food was legit! I ordered Larb Gai, chicken stay, Thai spare ribs (these are rare to be seen on a Thai menu so try them!) and a side of sticky rice. I asked for Larb Gai to be spicy..like Thai spicy and I got what I asked for! It hit the spot. I was more excited for the spare ribs more than anything. I used to eat those growing up in Thailand. The restaurant served the ribs with (the real original Thai) Sriracha sauce. If you wanna know what the real Sriracha sauce tastes like, order spare ribs. :) I can't wait to return and try other dishes on the menu. The broth for the pho was the best I have ever had. I only wish I had more noodles for the price. My friend had the eggplant snd tofu dish and she said that's the best tofu she's had. I thought this place was an authentic thai based off some reviews I had seen but as soon as I walked in to pick up my take out food and the place was empty got a bad feeling... the food was hot but extremely average to not very good. We also had a disappointing experience. When we sat down we were immediately told that the prices on the menu were not correct and that it was more than what was listed. We ordered Tom Kha Gai soup which was very good. We then ordered the rib appetizer. It looked extremely dry and one bite told us that the three small ribs were mostly fat and tasted badly. We told the waiter that we knew it wasn't his fault however we couldn't eat it. We heard him discuss it in the kitchen. For our meals we had Pad Tai which was very good and Panang Curry which was so-so. When we got the bill we noted the increase in prices and saw that the ribs were not taken off. I adore this place . New owners. A great combination of thai and Vietnamese. I had the tom-kha Gai soup. It is the Vietnamese coconut soup with chicken, mushrooms, scallion and cilantro. It is fantastic . I had to take a soup to go also. It was so good. Next I had their house made shumai. This is not like the traditional Japanese style but actual large chicken and shrimp shumai, again full of flavor. Tasty. Then since I was on my coconut kick I ordered the peanut curry with shrimp dish with pineapples. I was pleasantly surprised as it was just the right blend of peanuts and shrimp with a touch of thai basil added to it . Exceptional dish. I never had a better peanut curry dish before. I wanted to share an extremely disappointing experience with V Thai Restaurant in Ridgefield. I placed an order and recieved the wrong order 1 hour later. I alerted them of the issue and was told the correct order would be to me in 20 minutes, After another hour passed, I called and told them to cancel the order and refund my money. I was told by the person who answered that she would deliver the message. However, the delivery person came and left the food by my front door. When I called to confirm that the refund would be issued, I was told there was no one there with the authority to do so. Only after threatening to dispute the charge and write a bad review was I told I would in fact be issued a refund but I wasn't welcome to be a customer of them anymore. I'm flabbergasted right now at such a discourteous short sighted business practice and feel motivated to let others know read more

On recommendation from a friend of mine, I stopped by to see why he loved this place so much. V Thai isn't totally difficult to find since it's in a plaza, but you definitely won't see it at first since it's tucked away in the corner. My friend and I walked in, were seated promptly by one of the waiters, and given menus to start looking over. At first glance, I didn't realize V Thai was both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, which is a huge plus in my book because it's two of my favorites types of food. At second glance, I also realized how pricey everything was and for some dishes, excluding seafood and duck dishes since that sort of made sense, but $12-21 for pho seemed a bit extreme for me. Good thing I wasn't in a soup mood that night or I would've been severely disappointed. I ended up with the duck panang, while my buddy got the whole fried fish, we figured we'd share between each other. We also placed an order for shrimp spring rolls and papaya salad to start. The spring rolls came out first, along with the papaya salad and they were both equally delicious. The peanut sauce complimented the spring rolls well (as always) but aside from the Vietnamese take on it, the sauce had a pretty delicious taste to it. I wished the papaya salad was a bit spicier since I'm a fan of super hot versions of it. It was still tasty nonetheless, no complaints from my end. The main courses came out soon after we polished up the appetizers. Massive, and I mean MASSIVE, portions of each. The duck panang was piled into a bowl with a plethora of vegetables, tender duck, and curry to top it all off. Being a fan of Thai curry, I couldn't get enough of this stuff. The combination of the sauce with the duck just tasted so great together, especially when added it to the side of white rice we both received. Bomb. The whole fried fish was exactly as the menu described, a legitimate whole fried fish. The fish was completely intact and nothing was removed whatsoever. The waiter even gave us pointers on how to correctly cut the fish open to eat it. We followed his directions and cut open the middle of the fish to enormous amounts of fish meat cooked to perfection. Every bite was super moist and no traces of it being too dry. There was even a slight hint of whatever the fish was seasoned with in each bite as well. Basically, we loved every second of the fish. V. Thai is a great restaurant in Ridgefield. My only gripe is that some of the items are a bit on the expensive side. It also took too long in between getting our menus and actually placing an order. There wasn't anyone else in the dining room since most of their customers were coming in for takeout, so there really was no excuse for the lengthy wait. That didn't take away from how delicious the food was or how friendly our waiter who delivered the food was. I'll be back at V. Thai in the future to try other dishes on their menu. read more

I called the restaurant to get a delivery order from this place. When the order arrived, there was $5 delivery charge which wasn't conveyed to me over the phone then there was $3 when the driver drove to the wrong address??!! You can not charge a customer for your mistake! The delivery charge is not listed on their site nor was it mentioned on the phone. For this dishonesty - I did not leave a tip and the delivery guy said "are you not going to tip?" Are you serious?? This is a very rude and dishonest establishment. On top of this, the container they use (foam container) for one of the items we order melted so we had to throw it away. Very very disappointed. read more

Smallest portion of chicken I have ever seen in a lunch special. My red curry was blah...way too much coconut milk. My wife's "cashew chicken" had literally 2 nuts in it! A frequent and favorite restaurant of ours. They do a really nice job with both Thai and Vietnamese dishes and we're finding that the food is getting better every time we've been there. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. We find their chicken, beef and shrimp to be consistently of excellent quality. Presentation is nice.
