Vannora is a talented & amazing hairdresser! Love visiting her studio & always feel fabulous when I leave :)

I rather unfortunately can no longer encourage people to come to V Studio. I've actually held off on writing this review since my last haircut in April because I didn't want to be rude, but having a five star review didn't sit right with me. My last cut with Vannora was kind of a disaster, but I didn't realize how bad things were till I got home and lived with it a couple days. I asked for my hair to be cut just above my shoulders, and she cut it about 3" shorter than I wanted. One side was longer than the other, and since she didn't texturize my thick hair, it's growing in a somewhat triangular shape around my neck. I have an undercut that she shaved, but when she went to fix an area I'd messed up, she didn't balance it on the other side, so it's now crooked. I haven't had a haircut since because I've been growing it out, but it continues to perplex me due to the odd shape and asymmetrical length. Vannora is really nice and I was so pleased with my first cut, so this was very disappointing. I wish I could stick by my original rating. read more

Seriously. The last salon I went to destroyed my hair. It was the absolute worst color experience ever. 7 hours and a funky shade of orange and yellow, I was in tears. And this was from a top dollar, established, DC salon. V to the rescue. Recommended to me by a fellow running friend, I, with much hesitation, called and told her the entire story of my seven hour disastrous ordeal. She worked me in immediately, as she knew I was desperate. Two hours later, I left with my head held high. No more hiding my hair in ponytails and behind scarves and hats. I have pretty hair! I loved my haircut with Vanorra and I can't wait to have her do my color once I'm ready to color again. She is so easy to talk to - we don't shut up the whole time! And is this woman versatile! I asked if she was comfortable cutting curly hair (my daughter's hair is very curly 3C/4A hair and she said she was, so I brought my daughter and DANG V did an amazing job. New to the DC area, I found a good stylist rather quickly - but, then she moved... several unhappy hair stylist experiences later, I had all but given up. I was searching on yelp, reading reviews, and checking out pics. Not only did V have 5-star reviews, but the hair transformation pics on yelp were amazing. I emailed her pics of my hair, we emailed back and forth about what look I wanted, and I booked an appt. Today my transformation began. My grey roots gone.. my faded pinkish streaks now vibrant magenta, my not-supposed-to-be ombre hair now all one color! V transformed my hair from "hot mess" to "hotness!" I have never had as good of a hair salon experience as I had with V Studio. Ever. In the last 5 years, I have been to many of the highest rated and awarded stylists in the DC area. Vannora is by far the BEST colorist I have ever met. She did my ombré balayage in 2016 and my color correction / balayage beachy-blonde highlights for my wedding in April 2018. Not only is her technique PERFECTION, but she is time-efficient, very sweet, and does not push products. She also managed to maintain all of my length as I asked when she cut my hair. I'm not sure how she did it, but my hair was long, beautiful and healthy for my wedding. She also worked with me to make some last minute changes to my appointment... I came across V studio via reviews and awesome stars on yelp. I tried to make appointment for Balayage but Vannora didn't have the time available before my international travel, I then made appointment for haircut. I text her before hand as well and was replied immediately, she seemed very nice. Anyways I reached 10 minutes before my appointment time at the salon. The place is more like a street type shops and it was pretty cool to walk through all the different rooms of hairstylists but actually they're standalone shops. I found V studio without any issues. Vanonora was busy cutting her client's hair and I introduced my self to her, she asked me to have a seat, there were seats outside of her salon as well as one inside so I don't know where to sit so I chose to sit outside. I waited another 20 or so minutes past my appointment time. So finally my turn came and then I showed the pic of hair style that I wanted as well as the length to Vannora. She was very sweet and pleasant to talk to. My hair cut overall took 45 minutes. Hair cut looked good as usual after shampoo and styling. I had my flight next day so during travel I realized my hair were pretty uneven and the length and style requested was somehow doesn't looked like it. Angled bobs are pretty time consuming and needs a lot of finesse. I personally believe she did okay not great job and didn't spend enough time to make it look good even after the wash. I'm posting my pics of the sample style (left side) and mine for others to decide. I visited Vannora to get some oil-slick color added to my hair that would be subtle enough to slide-by at work. And man did she deliver! I easily set up a consultation, made an appointment for the next week, got it done and I couldn't be happier. She's super friendly, understood what I wanted and we were able to collaborate on something that suited my needs. Finding the building was a little difficult, but not bad. I went from blond to a beautiful chocolate! When I called Venora I was very specific about how I wanted my color to look. I also told her that I needed a trim but I wanted to keep as much length as possible so not cut no more than 1" off! She booked me and gave me a pretty reasonable price quote. When I arrived at my appointment Venora listened to what I wanted. She made a professional recommendation. She explained the best way to get me to the look I wanted. The best part was at the end when she told me that because I had gone with her recommendation the price was even lower since it was an easier process! She knew that by suggesting this other method she would be losing money and didn't let that stand in the way of her decision. Such a professional! My hair turned out better than I had in mind! I came across V Studio on Yelp and read all the great reviews, then spent 45 minutes going through all the hair pictures :) I went last Friday for the first time to V studio and met Vannora, the owner. She was so great and personable. I felt like I had known her for years. We talked and talked, as she worked her magic. I left with the perfect ombre, haircut & blowdry. I should mention that if you're going for the first time, that the location is a bit tricky. I drove around the shopping center looking for V Studio" but the salon is actually located inside a big suite called Sola Salons. It's basically one big space that consists of various salons. Vannora's studio is #8. I highly recommend V Studio. You will not be disappointed. read more

It's been several months since my haircut and I am still extremely unhappy with what this stylist did. I wanted a long shoulder length cut and explicitly stated no cutting at all any shorter than my chin. She instead then cut overall length to my jaw with very uneven layers going up past my ears. One side has a huge random section of extremely short hair. I had to get someone else to cut it into a very short pixie because there was no other way to blend it read more

Vannora is highly skilled at what she does, and I love that she really listens to what I want. I usually send her pictures before I go in, and she gives me great feedback on whether it's feasible. It's also nice that she runs her own studio, which means an apprentice or random stylist isn't coloring your hair/giving you a blowout during your visit- you get Vannora's undivided attention. I recently asked her to chop off all of my super long hair, and I was very particular about the length and angle of my LOB (long bob)...after all, if I'm going to get rid of my security blanket, I need to have a fabulous new 'do that suits me and makes me feel confident. Vannora got it 100% on point and I'm loving this new look she's given me. I also color my hair, and I'm so happy that she's been able to take me from jet black to ash blonde with NO split ends in between appointments, NO long color processing time. Oh, she's good. On top of having serious styling skills, Vannora has a darling and charismatic personality. I look forward to my hair appointments because there is never a dull moment in her studio. I told her what I wanted and showed he some pins. She gave me so much mor tan I expected and she had A LOT to deal with. I have had long hair for most of my life until I decided I wanted to see how I looked with short hair. I chopped it off a few months ago, but decided I wanted a change of color too. I didn't love the work my current salon did with color, so I decided to look for somewhere new. I did a Yelp search and happened to come across V Studio accidentally (I was not looking for a place in that particular neighborhood). The first photo was of someone with an edgy short cut, so I decided to look through the rest of Vannora's reviews. I was pretty much sold within 2 minutes. I gave her a call, and although she was super booked, she told she would stay late one night to accommodate me. I showed up and it's a place where individual stylists each rent their own small storefront within the larger store front. I located V Studio easily and Vannora greeted me warmly while she finished up her other client. She told me up front that it might take a couple of sessions to get the right color because I was going from dark brown to silver, and I appreciated that she took my hair's health into consideration. Ultimately, my hair took well to the color, so I could go in for a second session, but it isn't necessary. She was knowledgeable and sweet and I actually enjoyed the conversation during the two hour process. She really understood the look I was going for based on the picture I showed her. I got my hair cut today with Vannora, and couldn't be happier.
