Updating my review with retrospective of having had PT at a several places following my surgery. I…read morestill think HSS Westchester is overrated but if you find a reasonable therapist there, it's okay (just don't pick Chery Sun). They are high volume so you may feel like a number but they try their best and you do get the full 20-30 minute with a PT compared to other chains where you may be with the assistant for half or more of the visits. They do have all the technology you could want (as do many other spots) and their scheduling system isn't the most client friendly and kind of a pain. But you eventually learn to navigate it and work with the (sometimes less than friendly) front desk staff. Overall, you can get your PT here if you want, just be aware of the advantages and disadvantages I mentioned, which may or may not apply to you at all. I did think that (like in many NYC area locations), the number of jerky therapists/staff is higher here than in other places (say Boston/DC)- but that's something you have to deal with regularly if you live in this area. Also be aware of the fact that in my opinion, PTs occasionally can make your orthopedic issues worse/injure you, especially if you get a PT who is not careful and who does not listen well to your feedback (it happened to me at a different location). This is a healthcare system wide issue and i did not get injured at HSS PT, however had I not changed PTs it may have happened. If you ever feel excessive pain during your PT and your PT does not seem to listen or take it seriously it may be in your best interest to get a new PT to avoid possibly injury.

I went for all their fancy tests. I spent five hours in that hospital to be told we cannot touch you because you have arthritis. They should have told me when I made a telephone appointment for their services. To top it off. I asked them if they could cut my leg above the arthritis, imagining the girl running with an artificial leg. " No, no," they said without hesitation. "We have another group of specialists that does that." Goodbye and walk away. They are quadruple-arm bandits in fancy respectable suits. I trusted them to help me but they helped themselves out of my ignorance. Just watch out, they will dazzle you with what they claimed as #1. Ask questions and more questions.

I wanted to write my review after the full procedure of seeing another orthopedist was done…read more I had an unsatisfying experience with HVBJ. My appointment was made after a shoulder dislocation. The doctor created stress and concern from the doubts behind what they thought the problems were. I was not even evaluated, and my appointment lasted less than 15 minutes. After being rushed into receiving an mri, it seemed to be my problem after waiting a week for its authorization according to the doctor. My new orthopedist told me everything in my MRI was standard, and non surgical treatment was required. HBVJ told me I would need surgery after a ten minute visit, and then tried doubling down on it after seeing the results of the mri. I understand there are difference in opinions amongst doctors. My frustration is how the doctor went about handling my situation. It seemed the doctor acted vindictive once questions began to be asked, and came off as unprofessional. I would not feel comfortable coming back.

The good- it allows walk-ins; Since you wait a long time- their waiting area is pretty nice. the building has a very big parking lot. My nurse was nice and good bedside manners. The bad.. here they go. Don't even bother making an appointment, the wait period is about the same as the walk-ins if not worse since you'd already spent time trying to make an appointment. Don't be surprised if an agent or a rep hangs up on you. And, They don't call back. No one apologies about not notifying you about the long wait or after you wait that long- even if you're seen few hours after the set up time. They come up with reasons to say- basically your fault. Billing department- everyone plays 'I don't know that' game. I called about billing- no one calls back. And no one is at the desk. I also want to add my comments about the doctors/PA's who talked to me very rude but I only met one each. So I am hoping the others are not. The walls are thin! You hear everything that's happening in the next door! Where is the privacy? Not here! Hope you feel better quickly! And Good luck on your recovery. Save yourselves time and money- don't go here.

I was having unbearable pain in my elbow to the point I couldn't rest comfortably. The same thing happened three years ago, and I went to another doctor who gave me a cortisone shot and some Vicodin and sent me home. Yeah, I felt no pain but it didn't solve the problem. Luckily this time I had the fortune of meeting with Dr William Levine in the Tarrytown office of Columbia Orthopaedics. He did a thorough exam and asked correct questions regarding my medical history. His conclusion was that I was having an acute gout attack. He prescribed correct meds and by that evening I was already able to make myself comfortable enough to sleep. By the next morning I was 75-85% better (arm movement and pain). Today is still less than 48 hours after and I'm probably 95% better with 0 pain. He called me personally the next morning to check how I was. A nice touch I'm not used to. I should discuss the office as well. So coordinated and you can tell they all work together as a team. No one passed the buck. It was easy to see they did what they had to do to keep things moving. Keeping in mind, everyone comes in there in pain and/or with some type of story. Very impressive. Highly recommend the practice and this is coming from someone who's father and grandfather both practice(d) medicine.
