I love Dr. Cavallo's office…read more I came here for an evaluation after I hurt my knee and went to Stamford Hospital ER and they told me I sprained my knee. A week and a half later my knee still didn't feel right. I made an appointment to go to Dr. Cavallo. He was real thorough. After he did the test. He diagnosed me with a torn meniscus in my right knee, he even said you can get a second opinion if I would like. He does a lot of them, he him self has even had the surgery. I was very surprised since Stamford hospital was so off with my diagnosis. Dr. Cavallo actually did my surgery and I was very nervous because this was my first surgery. He put me at ease and did my surgery perfectly. Recovery was long and one of the toughest things I've had to do through no fault of his. I also started physical therapy in the same office with James Caroleo and he and his team who have also been wonderful. I would highly recommended Dr. Cavallo office for your orthopedic needs.

I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon here who prescribed remaining on the Meds already given for…read moremy painful sciatica. A day later the pain had traveled down my leg. The surgeon referred me to their pain specialist who I saw the following day, a Thursday. This Dr did an examination and recommended an epidural injection. However, these injections are only given on Wednesday so I had to wait almost a week for that procedure. Because the procedure was not successful I was told to return in another week for a second jab, and that there are no other doctors available in the meantime even though I am in considerable pain. This is absolutely ridiculous. A pain specialist, by definition, should be available six days a week, if not seven and if no other doctor is available the patient should be referred elsewhere to get the relief they are seeking.

I am an Ob/Gyn physician who developed spinal cord compression and loss of function of my right leg…read more(i.e. foot drop, leg weakness and severe sciatica) after over-vigorous slapshots playing ice hockey. This was from a HUGE vertebral disc herniation at L4-L5. Dr. Gitelman and his staff immediately recognized the seriousness of my physical disability and spinal cord compression and arranged a late Thursday afternoon/evening MRI. The lumbar laminectomy with extensive disc removal and decompression of the spinal cord was done within a week. I had an amazing recovery with being able to walk properly without a limp or leg pain a few hours after surgery. Now it is two months later and I am completely normal--no pain, weakness, or numbness of any kind. I am back at the gym and doing free skating (no hockey yet). My family practitioner was doing a routine physical recently and could not believe how mobile and pain-free I was. Dr. Gitelman not only trained at one of the best spinal surgery fellowships in the world (UCLA), but is a compassionate and highly communicative physician (the type you don't see much of these days). The practice he is in, Orthopedic Associates of Stamford, is beyond excellent in so many ways: no red tape trying to schedule appointments or ask questions, the latest imaging and electronic health records, well-trained staff, and a beautiful office with onsite physical therapy and rehabilitation. I traveled 1.5 hours to see him (I live in West Hartford, CT) and would have gone even farther to get this level of care.

Several minutes into the check-in process, was told they would not see her because it was past the 15 minute grace period allowed for appointment times. My mother is 86 years old and is having terrible lower back and leg pain making it very difficult to walk or sit. The receptionist tried to help and put me on the phone with his manager Michael who then said there was nothing he could do other than reschedule the appointment to several hours later because there was only one provider and one room available and that provider had a meeting to attend at 11 or 11:30am. In the time it took to wait to speak to someone and have that conversation they could have been well into the appointment seeing her. But more importantly it is disgusting and disgraceful they would turn away an 86 year old in terrible pain and struggling to walk over a few minutes and a meeting. And maybe Michael the manager was constrained by policies enforced by his superiors, I am not necessarily blaming him, thoughI was told it was up to him. Even in our system where healthcare is a business, I've never come across that kind of total disregard for an elderly patient's care and well being. Total lack of decency. Never going back there again.

I used to recommend this practice to friends, but can no longer do so. They were acquired by WESTMED medical group and it has been a nightmare ever since. It now has become a business and there is no more personal touch at all. It routinely takes over 6 minutes to make an appointment....lines are long to check in and out.....PT is rushed and you are made to feel like you are part of a business instead of a medical practice where people actually care if you receive good care. I would never recommend them again. Nor will I ever go back there for care!!!!!!

When I asked Dr Hefner to approve me for a handicap placard, he balked. I could not believe it. I am stumbling and limping to perform my daily chores , shopping and going to work and he had the gall to say that the reason was He did not want to perjure himself. I wasn't asking the good Dr to perjured himself. This is a permanent condition that will only get worse. Surgery is for those who can afford it, I should not be obligated or held hostage to getting the surgery. Really really unacceptable. The doctor reluctantly approved me for a temporary placard simply because I fell that day and I literally threaten him with a lawsuit . Unacceptable

Not only are their portals insecure, they also don't care about their patients at ALL - the physical therapy department is a full blown scam. I reported them to anthem BCBS - I still am in treatment because of their neglect and abuse - they refused to work with me , and kicked me out of their practice when I asked why my insurance was denied , they just left out the part where they scammed my insurance until they couldn't scam it any more - never have I ever met a more low end receptionist who yells at people at their Wilton location. Total disregard for any patient , and if they just want to scam then be honest - .. they left me with a torn l5-s1 annular tear to my lumbar disc region; a torn bicep, torn rotator cuff, aggravated nerve damage to my pelvic region, neck stiffness, posture weakness and mental aggravation. Now I'm aggravated by the fact their portal had a leak and my phone and emails won't stop with scams! What a joke

I've been here a couple of times, once for a foot MRI, and also for hand surgery…read more The MRI technicians were really nice and made the experience as pleasant as can be, for the experience of sticking yourself halfway into a noisy tube. They give you headphones and will play pleasant music to help distract you while you try to hold perfectly still. For hand surgery, my doctor, Dr Halim, was excellent. She has a great bedside manner and very skilled. My surgery was short, and recovery was quick. I'll definitely come back here if I need to have my other hand taken care of.
