I went here for the first time in years the other day and the girl who did my nails was nice but didn't want to do the original design I picked which was a cherry to match the burgundy color I chose. She said I should choose a different design so I just went with a sunflower which doesn't really match the rest of the nails but I didn't know what else to do because I had my heart set on a cherry. The rest of the nails look good, I'm just disappointed that for some reason she wouldn't do a cherry when she's getting paid to do whatever design I want. Walked in and no other customers were there. Got a pedicure. It was one of the fastest I have ever gotten. I have gotten many pedicures and this one was not enjoyable. I did have to do some more filing and smoothing on them when I got home. I won't go back to this shop. This was my first and last time there. The best part of a pedicure is getting your feet and legs massaged. All she did was beat on my legs some. I did think it was odd at the beginning she insisted to be paid in cash. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. The woman working was pretty nice, but the man who did my nails had horrible customer service. I was extremely nice to him and barely even got a head nod or grunt out of him. I got acrylic with regular paint on top. He used the drill on my nails to the point where they were hot/burning. I circled in one picture where you can see a blood bruise underneath my nail from it. They are SO sore to the touch. My nails were all misshapen and I asked him to even them out but he didn't do it very well. Paint job was sloppy and ended up all over my skin. After I tipped him $10 on a $25 service, I asked him politely to clean up around the edges with acetone and he rolled his eyes and did it very poorly. Worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done and worst looking AND feeling too. Contemplating going somewhere just to get them removed because they hurt so bad. read more

V-Nails is THE place to get manis and pedis. My boyfriend started school at W&L Law School so when I'd visit him on the weekends I'd just go to get my nails done. Mr. and Mrs. Huynh take their time and are very attentive to my nails, cuticles, and feet. They did such a great cherry blossom color on my hands and everyone complimented me on the nails and mani for days, and for my boyfriend's law prom they did my hands ( french mani) and dark blue for my toes to match my dress. I showed Mrs. Huynh a picture and she picked the best color and it definitely worked! Their shop is clean and tidy, their chairs are comfortable, and they are very nice to me. Luckily the bf is in law school for another two years so I will for sure be coming down to get my nails done as long as I can! read more

If you can do a half decent mani/pedi yourself, save your time and energy and don't go here! The shop was a bit dank, but I was in a pinch and decided to go anyway. I had to ask the technician to use a clean pair of cuticle cutters (they were visibly dirty with another client's clippings on them)! The technician rolled her eyes... apparently at the fact that I value sanitary practices. Later on, I had to ask for base coat (very politely I might add). The tech made a snarky comment under her breath and the owner came over and said, "All right, calm down." I detest being told to calm down when intentionally being polite. Save your money and run. Their sign says "spa pedicure" but it's a regular old pedicure. They have massage chairs and 3 people working. 2 of which are the owners, husband and wife. The wife could use some lessons in customer service. No one even said hi when we walked in. They didn't use top coat. They don't sanitize their tools. It was just ok. Adequate job on nails, except I had a broken nail which they didn't fix. I didn't notice until I had left that they had just painted over it. I got home and the rest of it broke. I had the impression that they tried to do a good job, just didn't have the skills. Hard to tell what polish colors were as there wasn't a sample chart, and many of the bottles were white with a tiny band of color. Literally the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. They don't take card, only cash, and don't tell you that when you make the appointment. When we told them we would go across the parking lot to the atm, she asked if we just didn't want to do it anymore, pushed past us to grab a woman who had just left because "she didn't want to miss an appointment," even though we both had made an appointment in advance. Awful. Do not go there! The lady who owns the place is so rude! She refused to service me because my "nail were too short". I said i would just get a manicure and she told me i couldn't preview the polishes and told me to get away from the display. She said since she had never seen me before I had to pay cash. So honestly I wasn't sure what to expect when I stopped by V-Nails looking for a gel manicure that afternoon at 5:30. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is right beside my gym. I had always gotten pricy gel manicures from salons but it has been hard to get appointments that fit my 9:00-5:00 schedule. So I took a chance and I am so happy I did! I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the owner who was very nice and patient with me. I wasn't expecting to get an appointment right then but I was the only one there and she took me immediately. It only took about 45 minutes and she shaped my nails perfectly! Better than some of my $50+ services I've gotten. I got a simple black gel and it was flawless! It was only $25 too. Fantastic deal! But keep in mind that they are cash-only which makes sense since they've probably been ripped off before. Definitely going to make it my monthly treat to come here and get my gel done from now on! I have been here twice and would gladly go back. Though the manicurist aren't overly chatty (something which I prefer - not a big fan of small talk), they do good, efficient work in a clean environment. They give accurate assessment of wait times - a rarity at nail salons - and were professional. The massage for the spa pedicure is quite possibly the longest I've received, and it did wonders for my rough feet. Though not the best mani-pedi I've ever received, I do believe this is the best option in Lexington. read more

I wish I could give a negative rating on this place! I went there on my birthday and had a gift certificate someone gave me while I was going through cancer treatment. They had put a 6 month expiration date on it, but I knew the law from 2009 said that you have to give 5 years. I figured like many businesses they wanted to encourage use soon, but obviously someone has PAID for this certificate and when I was going through chemo, it just wasn't going to work for me. And figured all biz owners would surely know, after 5 years, the law. So I got a pedi, which was a big deal for me b/c I never do such things and when I went to pay, I handed her the gift certificate less than 1 year old! The owner freaked out on me and said she wouldn't accept it. I explained but it's the law. The daughter of the owner looked it up, and said that I was correct, but it was really wrong of me to expect them to accept it. I said, "but I'm not asking you to do anything special but to just obey the law." The daughter said I should understand b/c they are foreign (even though the owner said she has been there for 19 years). And the owner started yelling and totally flipping out. I went ahead and offered to pay for it instead although I knew that was wrong. Daughter said, "no it's fine although you shouldn't have done that and at least should have called ahead." I explained, "why would've I worried about this certificate b/c I knew it had been less than a year ago that I rec'd it and surely any reputable business would know the business law." Daughter just said, "you can go at any time." The young son there tried to apologize for his mother's behavior and the daughter told him to stop. I was flabbergasted and my birthday, cancer's end (which they knew as I had mentioned it during) pedicure ended up being a disaster. How do places like this stay in business?????!!!! Several years ago when we wanted to take my mom (who is now 87) to have a manicure, many people told us to go to V Nails...it's the best! We did, and after several visits, the daughter of the owner seemed to be the manicurist most comfortable with her and did a nice job. Now that my mom is in a wheelchair there are some additional challenges. The kiosks at V Nails are not wheelchair friendly which means the wheelchair is sitting back from the table. I have brought pillows to help her sit closer and have held her hands if/as needed, as sometimes she may become sleepy, and during that time with me she has had a successful appointment with her nails complete. I have always tipped well and appreciated the service. Of course sometimes when we've called to make an appt. we've been told they are too busy. The last several years we have also been going to another nail salon in Lexington called MTV Nails. At this point let me also mention that I stay with my mom in the summers and for the month of December. During the other times we have caregivers helping my mom stay at home and I believe sometimes they have brought her to have her nails done as well. Last weekend my mom had one of her nails lose it's color, so I thought we'd take her to MTV Nails to have them repainted. It turns out on July 5 (when we went), they were closed for the holiday weekend so I thought I'd try V Nails and see if they were open, and they were. When I went inside and checked with the female manicurist (owner?), she said they were booked. I then asked when they did have an opening. It was her reply that has led me to share this post. In what came across to me as a condescending manner and tone I was told they would not do my mom's nails anymore...as she "falls asleep, can't hold her hands straight, etc." Needless to say I was disheartened. Here are the points I have an issue. 1. Why was I told they were booked, only to then hear that they were not going to do her nails anymore after I asked when they would have an opening? It makes me wonder if other times when we'd inquired about an appointment if they just didn't want to deal with my mom. 2. Knowing my success history with my mom and appointments at V Nails...why couldn't I have been told something like "well we can try it with you here, however if we cannot ....(btw she was wide awake that day)" 3. Why was this discussed openly like it was no big deal out in the open with other customers listening in...4. Yes, painting her nails and/or giving my mom a manicure may mean some extra tlc....I teach school and also been in the food service industry where there are students/families and diners who may have special wants/needs. It is my job to accommodate and make everyone feel welcome. That goes with the job and I know it's my responsibility. 5. With me present, my mother should have been given the chance for service like any other customer. If it turned out there was a reason it could'nt be done, then we would have understood . The ironic part is the only reason I went to V Nails was that MTV Nails was closed and we were just asking for a repaint of her fingernails. Needless to say I am most appreciative of the owners and staff at MTV Nails who have treated my mother with dignity and respect. As for V Nails, I am disappointed. read more

99.9% sure they tried to steal from me. The only conversation the woman made with me was to ask if it was my first time there. Whenever I get my brows done, I place my keys/wallet/phone/glasses on my abdomen and this woman was resting her tools on my chest (a little weird??). When I opened my eyes after she finished, I couldn't see and I couldn't find my glasses which had initially been on my stomach. She tried to tell me repeatedly that I wasn't wearing glasses when I came while she helped me "look." They were so adamant I hadn't worn glasses that I drove (eek) down the road back to my hotel to put in contacts and make sure I hadn't left my glasses there somehow and made it 4 hours into my day blind. I can't drive without glasses and I specifically remembered reading a sign at the front while I waited. I knew FOR A FACT that I'd worn my glasses in the building, so I went back and made it very clear I wasn't leaving until I found them. A man went back with me and helped me "look." I looked under the stool in corner at least 2 times, but when 10 mins passed and the man finally realized I was NOT leaving without them, he "found" them under that same stool. Absolutely absurd. i get my nails done here regularly. it is a family business, and while not a shi-shi spa place, they do really good work at very affordable prices. i frequently get compliments on my nails, and i always recommend this place. i've never seen the owner be rude to anyone, and she has many regular customers. i think that speaks for itself. read more
