Pay the register, drive around to the loading zone and they load the bags into your car for you. I love to come here during bareroot season (Jan-March). They carry a huge variety of tree, berries, grapes, and although the plants cost more than your big box store but there is a huge difference in quality. Large selection of roses in late May, early June. It's fun to shop here. Some of the nursery has uneven ground or loose gravel so be mindful. When arriving, I went to the restroom to pee (I am 67 and have prostate issues, and just wanted to be comfortable while I shopped) and, seeing a sign on both the outside and inside that said "Please keep the door shut - because of A/C" and seeing a lock, I locked the door for privacy (too). There is just urinal and one stall. When I was standing at the urinal there was suddenly the loudest banging on a door I'd ever heard in my life. I thought it must be some kind of emergency so I went, holding my pants up, since I didn't have time to zip them. I opened it, and said "What's up?!" and the young man with dark green Green Thumb shirt - heavyset, brown hair, 30/40-ish? - said very aggressively, yelling, "It's a public restroom, that's why theres more than one stall !!!" and proceeded to wash in the sink for 5 minutes or so (I retreated to the stall to try and finish my business). So... because there' a urinal and a stall you are not supposed to lock it? Why is there a lock? I don't get it... He must have either been having a very very bad day, was mentally unbalanced, or just a ver very angry person. I was in shock. I think it's time to find another nursery...

Said if there is any issue they would replace for no additional fee. I'm good with plants but this tree never took off. I returned to the store with the dead tree and the staff surprisingly couldn't find any record of the transaction. They talked down to me and treated me like a scammer. Total disconnect between the people who do the sales and the people who gatekeep the returns. Avoid this store if at all possible. They are not honest people.

But the person pricing the trees, whom I think was the owner, had bad attitude/customer service. We were literally the only customers there and after we bought our tree we asked for a picture and she said she couldn't help us snap a photo because she was busy. Poor customer service to a customer she knew already bought a tree, stand and bag. I wanted to support a small business but not when you can't take ten seconds to help your only customer.

I have completely fallen in love with this gem of a nursery in Encinitas. I have been searching for…read morerare plants all over North County and have found that this has the best selection and best value for rare houe plants. This whole rack of plants came from Cordova, and not a single one can be found at any other nursery for these affordable prices (think 25%-50% of the price you'd find online). I have found several White Princess and Pink Princess Philodendron that have made exquisite gifts for the holidays. The most amazing Philodendron I found was the Jose Bueno, its leaves are easily at least 18" and I snagged it for 1/3 the online price! I have also found Swiss Cheese Monstera, as well as Thai Constellation and Albo varieties. My other amazing find has been their String of Turtles and String of Hearts, which are very rare as compared to the more typical string of pearls. The owner shared with me that he's been in business for over 38 years! He is super knowledgeable and has a vast inventory (hence the competitive pricing). The plants are all super healthy, and I've not had a single pest interloper from their collection. I have never left this nursery without finding what I was looking for. So if you're looking for presents this season (prepare to wow all of your friends and family while not breaking the bank) or want to expand on your rare house plant collection, this is your spot. Go before I buy all their plants.

There's plenty of plants to see and merchandise to buy. Most importantly, it's organized and the plants seem happy. However, the prices aren't the cheapest - I've seen better at other nurseries in the Carlsbad area. I was personally looking for fruit trees and there was a limited amount of varieties to choose from. Overall, I enjoyed walking through the garden center on my way out of the flower fields.
