I was in love with my lashes when I had them done on Jan 14th, the day before I left for a two week vacation in Mexico. I had no intension of getting them filled until I saw them! That's how much I liked the look. So, why 2 stars? I found Utopia via Group. Since I wanted an appt right before I left, I called before I purchased the Goupon to be sure I could get an appt. and yes they had available time slots. The woman that answered the phone said not to buy the Groupon, that they had a batter deal - $65 for a full set rather than the $69 Groupon. I think this should have been my first clue. Since I didn't buy thru Groupon I cannot review or complain there. Appointment: I laid on my back. My eyelids were taped in a manner that they were slightly open. It was very difficult to relax my eyes and there was certainly not a chance of drifting off to sleep. I was asked if I wanted a natural look. Yes. While it was not agony, most every lash application burned some. I had read that this was not supposed to happen, but I didn't complain. When she finally switched eyes, I was glad to be half way done. She was done in an hour! Hour? I was completely expecting 2 hours as that is what I read it took for a full set. I was given a mirror and yes, they were beautiful! Perfect look for my vaca! I eyes were very red, like I had been crying. They told me to wait, they will feel better and that is was just the glue. Time to pay. She told me that she had used the mink (more expensive lashes) so the price was going to be $79 not the $65 I was expecting. I found that irritating and unprofessional as I was not asked this up front. Not really having a choice I paid and even tipped the girl. I was, after all, pleased with them! I've followed all instructions so that I get the most out of the lashes. I've had them now for 13 days. I've really enjoyed the look of having lashes without makeup. They do get a little twisted and it's difficult to get them to fan right. Last night I discovered a cluster of lashes on my pillow case! A cluster! It had about 5 lashes with the little glue bud at the base - drug store lashes?! Lash extensions are supposed to be individual false lashes placed on individual natural lashes with mink lashes being more natural and high end! I'm a small business owner, in my forties, with a moderate income I've no experience with false eyelashes of any kind. I did research and learn as much as a could about lash extensions. I read reviews about Utopia and in the end I am genuinely disappointed with the services and lashes I received. I wish I had a better review. read more

BUYER BEWARE I made an appointment to have semi-permanent eyebrows done. The location is odd. It's in an executive office suite in a series of offices spaces. The environment is not welcoming, there is no clear signage or anything. You feel like you're in the wrong place. There's also no signage outside the building, so you're REALLY not sure if you're in the right place. Nicole was going to consult with me about the look and then go through the process of getting the semi-permanent makeup completed. I did A LOT of research before making the decision to do this and I came in know what to expect. I should have been greeted with a portfolio, available references for completed work, a color palette, etc. Nicole had none of those things and seemed rushed and nervous. I didn't see any licenses, certifications, before and afters, nothing. The environment didn't seem sterile or very clean. In consulting with her about the look, it was awkward. For example, how am I supposed to "describe" verbally the specific hue and color I want for the eyebrows. Ummm, hello, super subjective! Plus she doesn't speak English very well, so how do I know that she has effectively understood the color? If she had a color palette, that wouldn't be a problem. Then, for shape of the eyebrow. I came in with my brows lined, just the way I like them. Very natural, very slender, very much following my natural brow shapes and lengths, etc. She was able to see this before we removed my make-up. I showed her pictures of shapes I liked and didn't like. I described very explicitly things I like and don't like. Then she proceeded to line my brows with a pencil to demonstrate the shape she would do semi-permanently. WOW. SO OFF. She SO didn't understand. She drew on these short, chunky, fat, ugly eyebrows. Bleh, so ugly. I told her that wasn't right and that I'd like to perhaps follow-up on her references and come back in another day once I had better peace of mind. The whole experience felt "off." Listen to your intuition, right? She said she'd get back to me with client references. Instead she called me the next day saying that she didn't have any client references and that she'd rather not do my eyebrows if I'm not comfortable. Ok, sure, because I'm not comfortable! ANYONE would be nervous getting semi-permanent makeup for the first time. That's why the esthetician is prepared to MAKE YOU comfortable. By having references. By having a clean, inviting space. By having before and after pictures. By having a color palette. By engaging calmly and confidently with the client. Ummm, so yes, I don't feel comfortable and I won't be back in. Do YOUR due-diligence before you let them do any services to you! Or better yet, go somewhere else. I'll continue doing my research and heading elsewhere myself! read more

Was genuinely satisfied for the money I spent (had a Groupon), but I wouldn't recommend you pay full price for their service. My bottom lashes ended up getting stuck to my top lashes during the appointment (which has never happened to me), so they decided they would have to just CUT my bottom eyelashes where they were stuck together. A somewhat terrifying experience having scissors that close to your eyes. Not a huge deal as I don't wear mascara on them anyway, but that left me with very short, prickly lower lashes. It itched like crazy for a full week! If they're busy, you may be in a room with another person, which isn't altogether peaceful. At other places where I've gotten this done, you have a nice bed and peaceful room where you can usually fall asleep. This is not the case here. Overall, the lashes looked good and were applied quickly. I wouldn't go back, but I wasn't full unsatisfied. There are plenty of Groupon specials for eyelash extensions - I would recommend going elsewhere if you can. read more

I came here last week with a Groupon for Volume 4D lashes. The place is a bit hard to find, as you enter this business with a staircase, and it's in a small office. There are 3 beds there for people to work on. The entire appointment took an hour. I told her that I was sensitive to glue, and she said she did have an alternative, but it doesn't adhere as much as the normal glue. I was disappointed to hear that, cause I wanted these lashes to last till when I go to Hawaii in the next week. She offered to mix the two glues, which I said OK to. As I was choosing lash lengths, she said the 3rd/4th longest was probably best, as my lashes aren't that long and can't withstand the weight of the longer ones. I told her okay, but in hindsight, I wanted the longer ones cause I like longer, more voluminous lashes. Also, the reason why my current real lashes are short is cause they're still growing back from my previous eyelash extensions, which are on the longer end. It's been 4 days since i got these done, and one eyelash clump (since theres like 5 lashes per adhesive) has come out, and I head out to Hawaii tomorrow morning! I hope they last!! PS. They do price match Groupon prices, so you don't have to purchase from there, but I use Ebates and Groupon 25% promo codes, so one full set of volume 4D lashes costed about $70. :) read more

I bought a groupon for mink lash extensions and made an appointment online. I came the to location but couldn't find the suite. After a few minutes of searching a mostly empty building I found it. It was a small room with three beds and two technicians. The place did not look or feel professional. One of the ladies asked me if it was my first time, I said yes, and she told me to lay down. She didn't ask anything about what type of extensions or what look I wanted to achieve and just started to begin. I wasn't sure what to expect, this being my first time. It kind of hurt each time she applied a lash, I could feel it and it stung a bit. She finished in one hour and I told her I had this groupon. She said something but she didn't speak English well, so I'm not sure what she said. She just marked it as redeemed. I don't even think she used mink lashes, but synthetic. I didn't want to question at the time because it was my first every eyelash extension, but after doing more research I definitely think so. It's my fault for not speaking up, but I don't think she should have redeemed my groupon if it definitely was not what I ended up getting. Since mink extensions are much more expensive than the synthetic. My eyelashes look nice but are irritating me a bit. I think they're too heavy for my thin lashes. They were nice ladies (I think, they didn't speak to me much) and they are probably good at what they do if you know what you want, but after all that for my first eyelash extension experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

They're pretty amazing. Before I lie down, I take my shoes off, and set my things in a storage box. *Please take your shoes off* they might not ask you each time, but it's nice for the person after you to not have dirty socks. They didn't ask for a size my first time, because I have no idea what to get, but I asked for natural ones. Turned out amazing. The first time I got my lash extensions was slightly painful, on a scale of 1-10, it was MAYBE a 2. My lash fill appointment was the best because it was shorter, I also got lashes that were a tiny bit shorter because I like a modest look, and I learned a few care tips from my previous extensions. Tips that might be helpful: 1. Avoid steam altogether (I.e., baths tubs of any sort) 2. Buy eyelash cleaning cloths or moose (when washing your face, avoid washing your eyelashes) 3. Don't play with your lashes 4. Follow the directions in the slip they give you :) But definitely go to them. It might be hard to find at first, but once you're in the silver doors, you will find the rest! ^_^ read more

Ok so found this trough a groupon that I bought. My first experience with lash extensions. I have since returned for one fill. The price is reasonable, but I understand it is not mink but synthetic silk so that may be why. Their place is in a corporate office (think where you'd meet a lawyer or accountant), it is small but efficient and tidy. There is soothing music to put you at ease while you are trying to relax every muscle in your face and body. (Not easy when someone is poking at your eyes) the technicians I have had were polite and quick. They did a great job. It was not painful/ uncomfortable. Similar to the awkward sensation of immobility you would have getting your nails or hair done. They were able to get me in with very short notice. I have been getting my eyelashes done for years, and until I found Utopia, I found myself bouncing from one parlor to the next. Not only is the pricing relatively cheaper than other eyelash parlors, their quality is either equivalent to or better than the past places I've been. My eyelashes stay on for almost three weeks, but I get them refilled around every two because the pricing is so reasonable. The people there are truly Angels, they are so sweet and remember you... the second time I came for my lashes, they recognized me and knew exactly how I liked my eyelashes done. While the put on my eyelashes, there's also very soothing music and a comfy blanket covering you, which makes it so hard not to sleep. Fast and efficient. The glue was stronger than I've experienced before, but they gave me eyedrops and I was no worse for the wear. So far my lashes have lasted well (1.5 weeks in on a two week fill), but they also offer 3 week fills if you're so inclined. read more

Much like the other reviews I am reading, know the price before beginning. Before I came to the appointment I was told $49.00 for the fill. When I went to pay they said $65 for a set. In which I replied I wasn't receiving a set, I was receiving a fill. They then said $59. I then mentioned I was told $49 over the phone. They did end up honoring the $49 but be prepared. The lady that left right before me, also questioned the prices. I've had extensions before. The glue is burning my eyes. It is true they add many lashes. Although, I actually think they look too thick. When I was finished she went to put drops in my eyes. I stopped her. I let her know I wear contacts and you cannot just dump drops into my eyes. (again I was prepared for this because the lady before had drops put into her eyes) The place is hard to find, it does not look professional, no signage, no licenses, appointments are scribbled on paper. No. Just no. This is the worst place to have your lashes done... Bought a Groupon for mink lashes- but I'm not even sure if I got mink... When you get there they ask you what length you want your lashes- natural or dramatic, then after you lie down everything is rushed. My eyes stung the whole time and when she was done I was so upset with how they turned out but it was too late to do anything about them. They weren't very long and were heavy that's why they didn't curl. After a few days, I was still bothered by length and style that I called to see if there was a way to fix them... Went back and another lady tried to make them look better but not much improvement- one eye had way more lashes than the other. She offered 30% off of the fill, but I will not go back. I visited Utopia on July of 2014 for the first and LAST time. Much like many other reviews I purchased a Groupon and was charged an additional $15 AFTER the set was finished- no notice beforehand. It only took the woman about 40 minutes to do my full set and I felt EACH eyelash POKING into my lid EVERY one she applied. Turns out she glued the lashes DIRECTLY to my EYELID, causing them to be EXTREMELY PAINFUL and sore. I originally purchased the lashes for a trip to Hawaii and when I went in the water it was obvious that there was something wrong with my lashes as the saltwater stung and burned. The fake lashes they use are of mediocre quality, they do not curl upwards as I wanted, they were mostly straight out so I do NOT suggest these for people with Asian shaped eyes/a small double lid or mono lid. Luckily this HORRIBLE experience did not put me off from getting fake lashes as the next place I tried was SO much better. None of these terrible things have happened with my new eyelash place and I would NEVER NEVER go back to Utopia. Take it from me, I read some of these bad reviews thinking it couldn't be that bad, it wouldn't happen to me, but it definitely did. They're terrible quality, DO NOT go! I went here on a coupon deal that seemed reasonable. Initially the lashes looked okay although some were quite crooked. The technician appeared to be in a hurry and the procedure was uncomfortable compared to when I had them done elsewhere. The small office with two clients side by side was cramped and odd as described elsewhere in reviews. The tables were uncomfortable. Within the first week they started falling off and my real eyelashes broke off with them. I have been comparing them to friends who had theirs done elsewhere and theirs look better and didn't fall off as readily. I was left with large gaps and went to a salon to fix them where the procedure was gentler, the atmosphere better and they look better. Beyond disappointed. Waste of money and time. I had lash extensions for the first time and used a Groupon. Sometimes when using a Groupon some services don't treat you the best. But they were great. You lay down on this table, they have soothing music on and before you know it, it was done. My lashes are still going strong after 3 weeks and need to go in for a fill soon. I absolutely love them! Horrible experience. I was last minute looking for a place to get my lashes done before a vacay and usually go to Noir or Eye Candy and couldn't get into them so I tried utopia. It had an avg rating of 4stars - thought I'd give it a try. Well I won't be going back. It was so uncomfortable to begin with and half way through I told her my eye was burning and she replied with "hmmm". She took the tape off that was on it while she worked on the other eye Well I uncomfortably waited for her to finish and my eyes have yet to stop watering 24+ hours later and the one eye that was burning is so blood shot/red and sore feeling. Thank you Chloe for my beautiful lashes! I purchased the Groupon for the mink lashes and I'd definitely go back. It took around an hour and a half for the whole process and they make sure that you're absolutely comfortable and warm. Warmth is a big thing for me, so kudos for the blanket. They play classical music in the background so I warn you: You'll probably fall asleep! The location itself was difficult to find at first (it's in a building filled with office spaces). But luckily, I used to work in the same building so it was easy once I realized the exact location. It's right across Anthony's Restaurant so if you pass Milagro, you've gone too far.
