I have loved this store for over 2 decades. They have such a great selection. Most recently I went to buy some new jewelry for my piercings. I arrived about 20 minutes before closing. Marley assisted me and was so amazing. She took her time showing me different jewelry pieces, specific to my piercings. I never felt rushed. I appreciated her honest advise and left so happy. She is so sweet and makes you feel comfortable. She placed the jewelry on and was delicate and made me feel comfortable. She's extremely professional and experienced. She also keeps everything hygienic and clean, wears a mask and gloves, disinfects etc. I highly recommend going to Utopia for many shopping needs but especially when it comes to getting pierced, piercing jewelry and care. Thank you again Marley Quinn!! You rock! read more

I only ever go here when I get something pierced, mostly because its pretty pricey, obviously because this store is the only place you can get a lot of these things and we have nothing else to base their crazy prices on Parking is kinda crappy Piercing dude is nice, sometimes comes off a bit cocky, but so do 99% of people in everyday life A lot of the staff is super nice, and like many places you get a rude person here and there, I just chalk it up to them having a bad day Of course it seemed much more intriguing when I was younger Overall its an ok place Defenitely not the best place ever read more

I really think that whoever started Hot Topic went to Utopia as a kid and thought "Someday, I will have a store like this, only it will sort of suck and be in a chain in malls" I've used to go here all the time when...14? 15? Whenever I was a little wanna be alterna kid growing up on Long Island, this was where I went to get cloves, Doc Martens, Dead Kennedys patches, indie cds, incense, incense oils, club clothes, etc. I can't speak for the quality of piercing here (though I did speak to the piercer about their extensive and gorgeous collection of body jewelry and found him to be rude and abrasive, though maybe he was having an off day) I took my husband there today out of nostalgia, and they've really expanded the place (and added the aforementioned body piercing) It's 3 floors, the first being sex toys and head shop stuff, the second being clothes, pewter stuff, all sorts of things for your practicing wiccan or pagan, club clothes, shoes, body piercing, jewelry, cheesy swords, sculptures, etc. The third floor covers band shirts, cds, posters, and random cutesy hipster crap. read more

I made a purchase of some oils and they did not have a sent after I got home. I made a mistake and bought the wrong one. I went right back to the store and asked to swap the one I wanted, out... She would NOT help me one bit. This place is VERY expensive and no exchanges NOT COOL! read more

I had my nipples pierced by Marley Quinn two weeks ago and am so happy that I had the work done here. Marley was incredibly professional, took great care with the piercings and while the piercing itself was painful, she did a great job in talking me through it. The piercings look great, are healing well, and have been infection free due to the great aftercare instructions that Marley gave me. I can't say enough good things about the work that she did. read more

I remember Utopia fondly. I went as a teenager often and procured many of my concert t-shirts, stickers for my car (oh, I thought I was really, really cool!! :) ), and I'm pretty sure I bought a few lava lamps there. Heh. Now that I think of it, I'm not really sure why my parents didn't just cry themselves to sleep each night, commiserating over the perils of having such a lame-ass daughter. I recall I also bought incense there, and a pair of purple boots. I think I'll stop now. You get the picture. And it is not a pretty one. About five years ago, I brought a friend of mine to Utopia when we were back on Long Island for some function, and we decided to get pierced. I got a standard cartilage piercing, but my friend got something on a part of her ear that the piercer even called 'extreme'. I have to say, it was a great piercing and it was done beautifully and my friend was tended to professionally and didn't seem to be in that much pain either. I never expected Utopia to step it up in that department, but they really did. Impressed. read more

This place went through a HUGE change since I first started going in highschool. I understand its hard for a mom and pop type business to keep going with the economy the way it is but it seems like they aren't really going in a great direction with what they've done. You can still get your waterpipes, incense and body jewelry I guess so thats good. The staff was friendly enough when I went with a friend to get a last minute birthday gift while being in town. The prices are a little expensive now and the layout isn't as great as it used to be. I'm not psyched on the fact that their fazing out their records. I used to be able to come home with good local stuff and beyond. read more

Went there for two piercings and was greeted by Marly, she was absolutely marvelous, knowledgeable and very clean she definitely knows her job and does it well, highly recommended read more

Oh boy, Utopia was certainly something different for someone like me! I headed there to buy a hookah with someone. I discovered a whole new world and that's all I have to say about that. You'd hardly expect a store like this to be in the middle of Hicksville, Long Island. As for the hookahs, they didn't have much of a selection, but the one that we got was $50 and worked well. read more

Updating my review to point out that most of the negative reviews are about the same piercer "Marley Quinn". I went to the shop to buy hinged rings. I knew exactly what I was looking for and was treated like dirt by both the piercer and the front desk. I've had plenty of bad times with Utopia over the 10 years I've visited and I made sure my 2019 visit was my last. Overall the place is run by some old jerk who could care less about is failing business and I believe these 1 star Yelp reviews are the only honest opinions you'll get about Utopia's customer service! If you read the reviews they reflect the poor quality and cleanliness of this location, if you care about your body or where you put your money you should look else where. read more

Pretty Horrible down at the smoke section. Straight attitude problem with chick with the glasses. I have been going here from years, never felt so uncomfortable here in all my visits. First they charge to try vape juices, no problem, then after 4 tries. They dont anymore, ok? Definitely wont visit here anymore. Good Job, Utopia! Lost a frequent customer. read more

OK...I have to admit- I was hesitant...after all-it's Utopia, and anyone who's ever gone in there kind of knows what to expect... A young lady with tri-colored hair extensions barely looked up from her IPhone to tell me the Vape section was downstairs-so far, status quo... I went downstairs, past the Adult section, turned a corner and POW! Folks- Utopia has so far proven to be the LEADER in brand name eliquid supply- A showcase full of bottles boasts the following names Uncle Junk Standard Pink Spot Virgin Vapors Flavorz by Joe Highbrow Hemp Hookahz Starbuzz Mount Baker Vapor Vape Dudes Velvet Cloud Brian, who manages the Vape section along with Matt, says "If I had more room, I'd carry even more..." A glass showcase holds the requisite Innokin products, along with a line of Evod batteries, tanks like the Nautilus and Davide, along with a few others of that genre... Utopia also carries rebuilding supplies and a few mechanical mods. Rebuildable atties are on display at very reasonable (realistic) prices, along with EFest batteries, chargers, lanyards, CE4s and about all the same stock as the other vape shops I've reviewed. BUT- and this is a big one- what sets Utopia apart from every other Long Island establishment reviewed thus far is... A Clean Room. Yup- a certified Clean Room, which now, in addition to being sanctioned by the County for piercing, is also utilized for juice bottling. Definitely a plus, in light of possible FDA regulations. Both Brian and Matt are knowledgeable and friendly, they stock beginner to advanced gear, but the big draw here has got to be the stock of eliquid. No place else (that I know of) can you walk in and grab a bottle of Standard Cell Block 4, a 10ml of Poppa, along with some MBV flavors and walk out the door without waiting for vape mail. The flavor selection and the Clean Room make it worth a trip- just close your eyes through the Adult section if you're squeamish- but if you're under 21, you're not going downstairs, anyway- I asked about Lounge activities, and got the same hesitation I'd gotten from another shop- It seems there is a divide between places that encourage hanging out and building, and places that are strictly supply stops. Utopia is a Supply stop- great staff, good supply-but NOT a hang-out. Nice surprise- well worth a trip- https://www.facebook.com/groups/1500736363482526/1505536973002465/?notif_t=group_comment read more

So I lived in Long Island all my life and never stepped foot into the store until today and I was impressed!! I needed some adult things which are downstairs and quite honestly was shocked. It's well organized, great supply of toys and everything! Plus the people who work there are extremely helpful! I'm coming back for my sisters bachelorette party to pick up some things!! read more

I love Utopia so much I had a dream last night I went for a shopping spree there lol (actually happened in real life because they have such incredible unique merchandise!!! Mike is amazing ! I've been coming to utopia for years but got to work with Marley who is amazing!! So sweet and took her time to explain the piercing process as well as aftercare. She answered all of my questions and even told me to come back to her when I was ready go change the piercing. She is definitely going to be my go to piercing artist. read more

I am going to give it four stars mainly because it's a pretty cool store especially for the area... I def go here if I am looking for something unique or different.... My daughter go her rook pierced and it healed nicely...but def over paid... I like the fact that in order for her to get any kind of piercing she needed to have a consent form fill out and notarized. read more

Marley is an amazing piercer, she was very gentle and very kind when she was doing her work. We had a great conversation and she made me feel comfortable as she was working. I cannot wait to come back and get more work done. I would recommend anybody to go to her. read more

Spoiler alert: If you want to get ripped off then this is the perfect place for you!!!!!! First time in a while since I've been here. I bought an item here today for $325 and I was really concerned about how high the price is for the quality of the item- there was also no price sticker on it. (There is no cell phone service in the basement so I could not check what it actually retailed for.) The MANAGER told me all the reasons why it retails at this price. Went home after I bought it and found out it retails for $259. Mind you it was the ~MANAGER~ with the pink hair who "helped" me. I can't imagine how long the manager there has been getting away with this shit. I'm actually disgusted and I will never go back to this place and I'm telling every person in Long Island to not to go here. read more

Today was my first time visiting Utopia in Hicksville. I've driven past it many times but never went in until now. Really cool headshop, lots of band tshirts, posters, tapestries, trippy blacklight stuff and the sex shop downstairs. Everyone who I saw working was nice and asked if I needed help. read more

Serious attitude problem over in the piercing section. Super condescending and not looking to sell me anything or give me a straight answer. Walked out without getting a simple gold colored circular septum ring... pissed off by how i was spoken to when all i needed was a straight answer or the simple item i was looking for. I dont know whats up peoples asses these days- you're alive, enjoy it and be nice. Never know when youre going to need help one day yourself. read more

Worst customer service ever. I visited the shop to purchase 2 separate pieces of body jewelry. The store was empty. There was one really nice girl up at the front, who advised me another person could help with the body jewelry. I waited around 15-20 min looking around. Went back to the girl in the front, and asked her if I should come back. She found the girl downstairs, and told me to go down and ask her for the body jewelry I needed & she could help. Here's where it gets good, I walk down, the girl is sitting on the glass counter looking at her phone. I said hello, I'm looking to purchase body jewelry. She snapped "the piercer isn't in" I said no, I just need the jewelry, I already have the holes then she quipped "I can't help you I'm down here" ummm ok I said there's no one in the store, you can't get me a piece of jewelry? The she slammed her hand down on the glass and started walking upstairs. That's when I walked up the stairs with her, baffled at the way I was disrespected, and walked right out of the door. read more

Got my nose pierced by Anthony. He was really informative and knew what he was doing. He gave a good explanation of after care. The procedure was short and sweet. Everything was clean. No redness, no infection, no puffiness; the piercing looks healed and it's only been a few days. read more

this place is ok. The sales ppl down stairs r funny not afraid to answer even the strangest sex toy questions. They have a lot to choose from and they don't mind look-see-lues like me.Other than the sex shop, this place is a waste of time. The people are rude, dirty and have no clue what their doing. I would never ever get anything tattoo or pierced here. i've hear 2 many horror stories about things getting infected. read more

I've gotten 3 piercings here and every time the experience was phenomenal. I had Marley pierce me and she is beyond professional, any questions I had she addressed them. Ah, Utopia was a teenage suburban goth/raver/hippie girl's paradise- not to mention the ONLY place on Long Island to get a spiked collar in the early 90s. read more

I've driven past this place 1000's of times. Its been in Hicksville for as long as I could remember. For the first time in 25 years I walked in. Its pretty cool. It would of been nice to check it out in the 1990's when it first opened. Never really had any interest to go inside but I was walking home from the train station and I popped in. They have a clothing shop upstairs, a piercing and tattoo parlor. They sell every incense you can think of. The basement floor has an adult sex shop and a smoke shop. I didn't buy anything so my review reflects that. It looks like a lot of people are having problems with their tattoo and piercing shop and the employees themselves. I for one would never get a tat or piercing done inside a store that has so much other stuff going on. If you want that done properly you go to a professional place that does that exclusively. They should honestly close that part of the store, especially if they are giving people infections. Clothing store was decent. Mostly skater and goth stuff. Not anything I would wear but I did see a cool teeshirt or 2 that I have to go back and get. Horrendous sneaker selection. If they had that to store it would be a huge plus. The prices were pretty good with a bunch of sales going on. They have a huge incense and candle area around the middle of the store. They have a sword and knife section on the first floor as well. Downstairs you run into the smoke shop and adult toy section. The smoke shop is the real gem. They have everything you can think of. They also have a ton of art pieces you can buy for upwards of $25,000. Its part store and art gallery. All related to smoking. The sex shop had a ton of stuff but I wasn't with my girl and most of it looked for ladies anyway. So overall my first visit to Utopia was pretty cool. Want to go back and make some purchases. Don't suggest you use their body mod services as per previous yelp reviews. Employees were friendly but you had to seek them out if you had questions. read more

I came in upset because I had lost a few earrings from previous piercings at this store. Marley ended up being a total gem. She was very accommodating to my situation and helped me pick out a few beautiful pieces for my ears. Marley has excellent knowledge of the work she does and has an amazing personality. I left the store feeling very happy and satisfied. By far one of the greatest piercers I have yet to meet. read more

I go here for roll on oil perfume, my favorite Goddess was discontinued so I'm on the prowl for a new scent. They have a decently large selection from a few brands. I'd recommend coffee beans in a cheese shaker to help cleanse the pallet when smelling as I was overwhelmed by the different oils. They have a small collection of jewelry and eclectic clothes. I found most of the clothes to be a tad overpriced. The basement boasts an adult shop and glass area. The glass is very overpriced but I was pleased to see Sheldon Black and some other high end companies. Not sure if this is the haggling type of place but I certainly wouldn't pay those prices. Staff was nice enough. Clientele was wilding out and were certainly not chill. I bought a few oils, not so thrilled but I'll try again, and some impulse earrings. I remember this place having local bands CDs but I didn't see it there this time. Shame. I hope they reconsider that. Overall a fun experience but cmon customers, be mindful downstairs. read more

The Staff is rude. The parking sucks. They sell cheap throwaway nose rings otherwise I wouldn't step in there.

I've been to Utopia for piercings several times and Marley is always great. She's knowledgeable, friendly and makes great suggestions. I happened to be there today in the store, she was busy assisting three customers at once. Even when people start acting entitled to their position in line of service she keeps her cool and professional attitude. I won't let anyone else pierce me! read more

I was a loyal customer and Went there often, spent lots of money. General manager Brian is a real jerk. Never is looking out for the customer always over charges. Finally I got fed up told him how it was and he said not to come back. I highly suggest going else where or even looking on the internet. Brian is the older gentlemen who wears a beanie cap hat with piercings in his ears & he has blue eyes. Do not use him as a sales man you will lose out. He mainly works in the tobacco department. read more

The manager at the smoke shop has got an attitude. They messed up and gave me the wrong item in a bag that says "MY BAD" and when I returned they immediately handed me the bag and apologized. However, in my travels I purchased elsewhere because it was more convenient to me. I asked for my money back and I was told "no returns once it leaves the store" .. Clearly it has never left the store and the manager gave me a hard time with an attitude. "At least now you have two" .. It was a ton of aggravation over $10. Not a good business plan to lose customers over $10. Fortunately Long Island is dotted with good smoke shops alternatives! read more
