I'm giving this Post Office 3 stars only because it's close & convenient. I really don't want to use it at all. I've been trying to find ways to send digitally the few payments that had to go by check. I've succeeded with most. This certainly isn't the normal way to start a review by saying I never wanted to use it again. But I have a really good reason. Earlier this year I dropped a quarterly Virginia Estimated Tax Payment into the outside drop box as I've done for many years. A few days later I saw it clear my bank in a different manner than the City Treasurer's checks normally clear. It was also much earlier than the checks are normally deposited by that department. I looked at the check on line & it had been washed & a person's name written in. The endorsement was for a mobile deposit to a local credit union. So the person still had my physical check with my address. It took months to deal with all the fallout. My wonderful TowneBank banker worked with their fraud department but my account number had to be changed, which created a plethora of digital payments & charges that had to be changed. The Postal Inspector & the Virginia Beach Police had to become involved. I was instructed to keep my file with all the credit bureaus closed unless someone needed to pull a credit report. The police department gave me logins where I could do this without a charge. I learned that this had happened at other Post Offices, some of which had covered their outside drop boxes. But the Bayside PO's is still is open. My banker's assistant would check my old & new accounts every day and then check with me to make sure everything was an authorized charge. Months of my life were lost dealing with this. So my advice is DO NOT ever put anything in the outside box at this Post Office. Always go inside. Be safe and careful there. read more

For convenience I normally use the base post office wonderful lady, It is closer for me. If I happen to be out and about I like the Thoroughgood location. Everyone has different expectations, and most of us tend to forget locations are short staff, they are doing the best they can and we all have bad days (hopefully not many) we all have stressors we are coping with at home or at work. Extend a little grace to the staff or the delivery person. Im grateful for both and helps also to Remember they didn't request to work short staffed. I just had the nicest postal worker named Terrell help me. He was so kind and understanding. USPS should give him a raise!!

Unfortunately the management was of no assistance with help of a 2 day lost package. Two managers said they would investigate and look into it and call me back. No call and no direction on what should have been a filing for "lost package". With all their troubles of stolen many incidents out of their own box this is a post office to avoid. read more

Worst customer service experienced in my life! I went to pickup a key for the mailbox of the house that I just moved in. After waiting like everyone else, the postal clerk asked me to wait on the side, 45 minutes later and after she attended other customers, she asked for my lease contract. Instead of waiting for me she went back to her work station and told me to go back in line made me wait again and told me to wait for the next clerk. The supervisor was even more incompetent and useless, they told me to be back in 3 days to pickup the key. To cut the nagging short, 5 days later and 4 different trips to this store and all the frustration build with each visit I still don't have a key for the mailbox, listening to their lame excuses and service. I'asked myself "what is this people getting paid for?" They can't say for their job! as they are INCOMPETENT!!! I want that star back as they don't deserve it. read more

I called about our mailbox being damaged. I could barely understand what the employee said. After I explained what my reason for calling was, she answered with "yeah, we're waiting on a lock for that box." I thanked her after confirming my mail was being held and I could pick it up. Popped in here on Saturday as a change of plans as it wasn't my original postal destination. I was on my way to VB from Ches and had actually planned to stop in the PO on North Battlefield however that place was so busy I couldn't I couldn't even get into the lot at 10am. So after a revision of plans a quick drive out to VB I was able to walk in the door here, wait in line for less than 5 minutes and and get my package mailed in no time at all. One other thing I noticed here as I was leaving was that they have added a bunch of PO boxes here. I actually had a PO box here for about 10 years and never had any complaints. If I got a big box, they would put a key in my postal box and I could then claim my package from one of the bigger lockers. I guess what I'm saying is that more times than not, most of the time, I've had good experiences here. read more

This location (2109 Thoroughgood Rd) has full service, including PO Boxes. This Post Office can accept/hold packages bigger than the PO Box itself. Yesterday, the line was short and moved fast, a clerk helpfully explained everything to me, and there was at least 3 clerks so the line kept moving fast while I was being explained to. read more

I go to this location instead of the one in Haygood (which is closer) because they are less grumpy here. I do believe that when post office employees are interviewed you get hired based on grumpiness. The guy at Haygood Plaza starts with the most expensive price then you have to reach across the counter, pull out one of his teeth and say "no, I don't want to pay $45.00 to get it there tomorrow...what's the cheapest way"? This location, off Pleasure House, usually has at least 3 people at the counter and generally one of them failed the grumpy requirement. In all seriousness, these people are getting phase out due to electronic mail. Wouldn't you want to please you customers to keep your job when the cutting begins? read more

Wow, went in to mail a package. Weighed item on self serve scale and asked girl behind wall how much a stamp cost so I could affix the proper amount . She told me I would have to go to clerk in line to ask. The line was long and it was a one word answer. Really? What kind of customer service is that. This is a nice little post office. It has an "automated teller" so you can ship packages and buy stamps after hours. The office is clean and the staff is usually rather nice. read more

Worst PO ever! They have had my package for days and it still hasn't been delivered. I don't see the point in staffing this location with real people if they can't do anything for you. I could get the same service from a machine. Why hire people that are just going to stand at the counter and not help? If they're not helping the customers, then what is their function? What purpose do they serve? Someone needs to look at improving the customer service at this location. I never had this problem before with any other Post Office. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! If you have a choice, use a different post office. I'm going to start shipping my items to another address to make sure these folks never have to handle my packages again. read more

Still waiting about 2 weeks just to get our mail key. We're being patient but this specific location doesn't seem to care about their job and neighborhood. We received our mail key a week after moving in and we go to get our mail and the lock needs to be changed because there is something jammed in the hole. Very frustrating when we already changed our mailing address on everything. read more

A clerk by the name of Brian keeps re routing my mail. The first time he sent my mail to a completely different post office. Now he's returning my mail to sender. I have a paid for po box at this location and found out this past Saturday that he illegally closed it. It's still open online but he put a sign on my box so that no mail could go in. I hate to play the race card but even speaking with the supervisor was a waste of time. If this issue is not corrected for the second time I will be filing criminal charges. It is a federal offense to tamper with somebody mail. They do not like to serve people of color at this location. I kept wondering why people I do business with was complaining that their letters to me was returned. A complaint has been officially filed with USPS. read more

I went in today with a bag full of (about 30 packages) eBay items I recently sold. The cashier was very calm and happy to take care of my order even though there was the typical post office line. Would use again for sure! read more

Went here the first time and it was a bit busy but got through the line pretty quickly. I got stamps and gave them some mail that had wrong names on them as those people did not live at my current residence. This is the second time I had to give them unwanted mail. This time when i took back the unwanted mail, I wrote on each one " does not live here, return to sender, take off mailing route/list please!!" When i had told the CSR what had happend he was nice about the mistake and told me it would be handled and he would take it to the right people. Then the last thing was to send out my greeting cards. Two were local but the other was for over seas so i paid the postage and everything turned out good. I would recommend going earlier or on a day during the week when it isn't so crowded. read more

I have been here for nearly a month and would love to be able to get my mail without trying to play a game of catch the mail carrier. This is the worst post office I've encountered. The customer service is absolutely terrible. After calling them twice and being put on hold for over 25 minutes, I called a third time and what happened was hilariously awefull. The women who I spoke with said " I'm counting stock..I ain't gonna talk to you. Here's what ima tell you. Call back later!" Then she hung up. This was such terrible customer service that it kind of made me laugh. One would think that "goverment employees" should be held to a higher standard. What a joke this place is. They have had my package for over 48 hours now and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Nobody is able to tell me anything about my package. The employees act like they are gods and treat people based on the level the customer kisses their rear. What a waste of tax money. read more

Horrible- the entire postal service should be allowed to go bankrupt and get out of this business which they have demonstrated they are too inept to run. I've requested they not be used by Amazon.com and was horrified when a few packages arrived using usps and not ups. whenever one uses usps it's lots of red tape and you never get your package. One was returned to Japan (did not rec a final notice or an attempted redelivery slip; another i'm still trying to get because the online or call a person for a scheduled redelivery just doesn't work as it's IGNORED (did this three times). What is the confirmation # for?? and phone? they simply do not answer it i let it ring for 15 mins, which i did time. read more
