We've had several packages just go missing, today my wife got an empty package delivered to her. All of the missing/stolen items all came through the District Heights distribution center. They're stealing packages and gift cards. Every employee there needs to be fired and replaced with honest people or shut that place down. There needs to be a sting or investigation of what's going on there. I know I'm not the only one they've stolen from and when you call them to tell them what happened nothing ever gets resolved. So far we've lost 3 gifts cards totaling $500, 2 pairs of little girls Ugg boots a LV women's jogging suit. This is unacceptable and an investigation needs to happen and some people need to go to jail for theft and be made to make restitution. I'm not going to let this go this time. Seven on your side, State Senator for that area as well as Delegate and County Council member will be hearing from me until this is resolved. As of 1/20/2024 this location has astonishing service. Two young ladies in particula, Mariah and Kiara took great care of me from beginning to end. long story short I was short tempered and newer employee Mariah was so friendly and patient. When Ms. Kiara heard Mariah needed assistance she stepped right in with a welcoming attitude and thought us all something. The key to this is team work and patience when working in customer service really go along way. Thanks Ladies Now that's how you do it. The community appreciates you both! My package has been sitting here for an unacceptable amount of time! When is someone going to get involved? This is crazy. I have half a mind to make the two hour drive and get it myself. However, I'd hate to arrive just to find out that it's stolen. This is ridiculous. If you're at this point in your package tracking journey where you've felt compelled to research the online reputation of a local USPS distribution center then it's likely a bit late for you to do anything about getting your package delivered on time. I'm so sorry to the other poor souls who've had their packages make their way through this facility. It is clearly now incumbent upon you to contact your seller and request some form of compensation or... god forbid... contact USPS themselves... y'know, it's no wonder that USPS isn't aware of these ongoing issues. I feel like getting ahold of USPS in the first place is a nightmare in itself but I feel like speaking to a representative from USPS is more tortuous because they're still a living human being but for some reason it feels like you're talking to a brick wall. It's much easier to commiserate with strangers on an online review board about this despicable location where thievery is undoubtedly the issue. Welp farewell to those Christmas gifts. UPDATE: the plot thickens... so I live in New Jersey and wanted to do a bit of investigating in to these missing packages so I made the drive down to Maryland and reached the District Heights Post Office where a sweet young lady informed me that the package was not actually held at that location but instead it's actually at a temporary distribution center down the street that they only open temporarily for the holidays! So this post office isn't even the issue here. Too bad this 'Spirit Halloween-esque' distribution center doesn't have its own review page. Well after a little persuading she revealed that this makeshift operation is being ran out of a local furniture warehouse down the street called MARLO. So I set off to find this shady shit and after going door-to-door in this rundown plaza I finally found the check in center. The person handling access at the front just let me in assuming I had a Post Office I.D. badge. Yay for my vigilante espionage efforts! Yikes for everyone else's security... She directed me to the supervisor... a lively woman with a bright red wig. I could tell that this was going to go over smoothly. She sat on a personal call for about 15 minutes, shouting expletives and complaining about her terrible work conditions at who I am to assume was her boyfriend before finally deciding to acknowledge my existence. After explaining my situation in great detail I was met with some very lackadaisical "help" in the form of her taking down my information and promising to call if anything shows up. She seemed annoyed at my inquiry and immediately called the actual post office location to chide them for revealing her super duper secret location *eye roll*. You guys this place was a mess.... they only have 3 employees working to load trucks with these medium sized pallets of people's personal belongings that are scattered evenly around this gross warehouse which was clearly never built for Post Office related activities. Welp, that's all I got. She even showed me where all the packages were being held for my zip code. There were 3 measly pallets full of packages and I could've easily found it in minutes just sitting right there a few steps away but she wouldn't allow me to rummage through other peoples packages. I sent packages from a main branch Post Office in Alexandria, VA destined for Florida. For some unknown reason, they have been dropped at this Post Office in District Heights, MD. WHY??? They were dropped off there one day after leaving VA for 2-Day Priority shipping, They have now been there for SEVEN DAYS. No tracking is available because they are clearly not scanning ANYTHING! I understand there are to be delays expected because of COVID and short staffing. But this is absolutely unacceptable...holding my packages hostage. My package has been sitting at this facility since DECEMBER 19th! It's now January 11th. I spoke with an employee at this location almost two weeks ago and was assured that my package was still there and would be shipped out that week (it wasn't). Still no updates. I am trying to be understanding about the COVID issues and it being the holidays but how does a small package sit in the same facility for over a week? If you have that much volume then maybe you should consider hiring some of the people that have lost their jobs due to COVID even if it is on a temporary basis. My packages has been in this facility since December 18,2020. I have called Usps various times and each time i do the tell me they will "investigate this issue" for me. I have made 2 case reports and each reports ends with. "I do jot see any further update. I recommend you continue to track your package." As if i was not doing that already. This is the worst customer service I have received from a company ever. On two occasions I have called in reference to a package. I was fully prepared, polite, even though there were issues and each time a clerk named Hillary answered. She is extremely rude from the time she answers the phone to the time she hangs up. She comes off as being bothered, as if she's not working in a customer service field. I do plan to talk to the supervisor over her because no customer should feel uncomfortable with asking basic questions. read more

This post office has completely gone downhill since they lost at least three people that worked at the register, including the former woman manager. The people that were hired that replaced the two ladies at the front are exceptionally nasty and do not know their job. I have been coming to this post office for over eight years now and I've always been treated warmly and with respect. It was my favorite post office to go to because of how courteous and nice these three ladies were, including the woman manager that used to work on the front. The lady in the middle is still there and is very kind and very knowledgeable. Now, these two people, a taller woman and especially the one with long braids, do not know how to do a QR code and look at me as if I'm stupid because there's no address on the package. Yesterday I went in and the taller woman waited on me very discourteously and when I showed her my QR code she looked at me like I was stupid and said I needed an address on my package. I nicely explained to her what it was and then she put the label on and walked away with no receipt given to me. When I asked her about the receipt she said it didn't come up, when in fact, she never scanned the package in, she just printed the label. Then, the one with the long braids came over and scanned the three packages in a very rude way and when I asked her about the receipt she rudely barked at me and said, you ask for one then. Last week the woman with long braids also bizarrely changed an address on a package without permission and I had to go back in and go to the woman that has worked there for many years in the middle and ask her to help me fix this. The package was going to go to a completely different address five and a half hours away if I hadn't caught the mistake. It would have been lost and I would have been responsible for the package. She treated me terribly today and was very rude and unprofessional. She talks like she is on the street and not a place of business. She should be reprimanded and so should the other woman yesterday who was equally as rude. When I asked a woman standing at the door with a black sweatshirt on with the letters " B L K" on it how I could reach the postmaster, she wouldn't answer me and then lied and said she just started working there and wouldn't help me. She immediately took the counter clerk's side without even knowing what happened. I have always been treated nicely and with warm welcome at this post office for over eight years before these other people came on. I appreciate that this has a 24/7 lobby with the self service kiosk. Very convenient for my business. However, in the past the employees have been very curt, unfriendly. And it drives me insane that I come all the way out to mail a box only to find the deposit opening stuck because the cart is full of other boxes. No bueno. read more

These people have left our apartment building mailbox wide open for anyone to dip into multiple residents mail. I first called at 8:48am and got a busy tone immediately so I hung up and checked online and realized they didn't open until 9am. So I waited and I called again at 9:04am right after they opened still a busy tone and I began to repeatedly call and got a busy dial tone every time. I drove up the street to alert them to this even speaking to the supervisor who informed me he would be sending someone over right away to close that up. This entire interaction took place between 9:04am-9:58am. It is now 11:25am on the dot and the mailbox is still wide open. I have began calling repeatedly once again and now it's actually ringing but it is constantly ringing and then hanging up. Please see the photos I've attached for reference of the phone calls as well as a screen recording that shows you that it hung up by itself after continuously ringing. As I am literally typing this a mail carrier has arrived at 11:35 to load mail and close this up. A separate mail carrier also arrived and said to the first mail carrier "they told me to interrupt my route to come here and close it but I wasn't about to leave from where I was because I wasn't finished and would've had to drive back". This is ridiculous, the workers in this area have no respect for their job duties or the people they serve mail to. read more

I have tried to call but get the phone hung up or disconnected in random intervals which leads me to believe they're just hanging it up. I am going to file a report for 3 different orders that I've been waiting on for months to arrive be it from just tracking not being tracked properly or, mostly,, from this locations lack of service. I've had no issues with this the Post Office located at 6514 Marlboro Pike, District Heights, MD. I usually call into the USPS office in the morning before they're actually opened to request for them to hold ALL my packages for pickup (I've had issues with my packages from all delivery company's being stolen from my doorstep). Everyone that has answered the phone is very accommodating and when I go to pick up my package I'm there for no more than 10 minutes. read more

After sitting there for several days the tracking system just completely stopped updating. Dont ever deal with a Supervisor name Benjamin Sampson. So unprofessional!!! I had a pkg delivered which didn't arrive to my address on Sat July 13, 2019 which I was not home at the time the pkg was supposed to arrive! I had 2 other pkg coming from same place (Ebay). 2 arrived and 1 didn't. I have spent 4 days trying to track this pkg with no help from the Forestville Post Office. Not to mentioned I got a call from another supervisor on Tuesday stating the pkg was at the facility & would be delivered the nxt day or two in spite of the tracking stating it was left at my front porch. I also had my nxt door neighbor check her camera and they stated that I had no delivery on Sat ..go figure. Well today Thursday July 18, 2019 to my surprise it's 4 days ago and Mr Sampson called going back n forth with no resolution. Didn't even have all his facts together before he called me. Every time I come in this post office, I have the same experience. Because it's the post office you expect to come in and find people that aren't happy and especially because it's the holiday season you expect to come in and the employees are angry that they're here or in a rush. This is nothing like what you find at this post office. When you come to this post office you are greeted by polite employees that are eager to help you every time. Even the supervision and management team is very helpful and very polite. I am so grateful that this is my local post office and if you live by any other post office and do not have the same experience I highly recommend that you come to this one. The District Heights USPS distribution center . . . where good packages go to die. This place is becoming renowned up and down the east coast as the place where you don't want your package to go, because it's entirely possible it won't be seen again. And even if it does show up, it will be very delayed. Sure, a lot of mail has been slow this holiday season due to personnel shortages and insane volume. But everything that I've ordered or that has been sent to me that has gone through the other DC area distribution centers has reached me, and no more than a couple of days past the scheduled delivery date. But the two packages that, for some unknown reason, were directed through this distribution center? Still don't have them, days after they were due to arrive. What's worse, I can't even track them. Once they reached District Heights, they just sort of fell off the tracking! I'm informed that they are "still in the system" and moving on to "the next destination." Given the time that has passed, however, I'm thinking that next destination is either Greenland or someone else's home. And I have friends in Massachusetts, Florida and New York who have had the same experience with their packages that have been directed through District Heights. This is not a good post office at all, halfway incompetent and customer service is kind of nasty. If you need a redelivery from there don't count on it. I was told before from people at different locations to call the day before but at this one i'm told to call the day of... never heard that before to make sure someone is home. Well the day it was "delivered" the first time I and another person WERE HOME but there were no knocks just a notice. Call the day before and the person is acting like they are setting you up for a redeliver they're not ... they're just entertaining you until you get off if the phone because the day after I am supposed to get 2 extremely important packages...the new carriers brings me nothing but junk mail. This location needing to get it together is a huge understatement..it's terrible. I had to call the main usps number for someone to actually do their job and ACTUALLY schedule my redelivery, btw if you don't get a confirmation number they didn't put it in.... the first time I scheduled a redelivery here I was so pissed that the carrier just left a notice with no information on it and didn't attempt to deliver it that I didn't notice the person I spoke to didn't give me a confirmation number. read more

This particular USPS is very slow and on their own time schedule. I have never had to wait so long to purchase stamps. This is also the first Post Office that I've encountered that do not have 24 hour access to PO Boxes. One of the reasons you get a PO Box is to access after normal business hours. Bottom line, if you can go somewhere else, please do so. read more

District Heights Facility needs to have Main District Area Supervisor of USPS come in and either fire, replace or supervise these workers better. I've found that the USPS in District Heights has one of the largest complaints anywhere in Maryland. I have a package that has live corals in the box worth a few hundred dollars sitting there that was supposed to priority 2-3 day shipping and on the box has live animals, this side up, keep at a certain temp and handle with care posted on the box. You would think a box of this nature would be a little more prioritized than just sitting there. It's been at the facility since 1/20/21 and it's now 1/23/21. It was originally sent on 19th of this month and moved swiftly through all other USPS facilities swiftly. It's sad to see that a box labeled live animals has been left sitting god knows where for 3 days. This is not the first package that has been sitting at this facility for a week or more that I've ordered. Unfortunately this is the first box that has had live animals inside the box. That will most likely be killed to slow, lazy, unorganized workers. When a box has live animals posted on it you would think it would be a priority piece of mail point blank. read more
