    Mid American Coaches

This wasn't my first ride on a Mid American. They've always been clean, good drivers, but tonight…read morewas exceptional. Took the coach to Frozen On Ice at Scott Trade in STL. The snow was coming down before we began our trip. Cindy our driver, and Glenda our concierge, were not only a fantastic team but made even the nervous passengers feel at ease. Glenda came around with candy for everyone and had a little trivia to pass the time for the up'ing travelers. Traffic was so backed up, because of the weather, but Cindy maneuvered around the traffic and got us to the show on time. It was wonderful to be dropped RIGHT at the door. The snow continued while we were at the show. When we came out, she was again Right at the door. How convenient! Especially with all the little "Elsa's" not completely dressed for the weather. We had to wait to start the snowy trek home. There were 3 passengers missing for quite a while, and Glenda went on a hunt for them. She and Cindy were patient and polite to the absent passengers, and Cindy attended to us waiting patiently on the coach. Cindy was an EXCELLENT driver and made everyone feel very safe. The driving conditions with crazy semi's zooming by was nerve wracking, but Cindy handled it with ease. Glenda brought the Frozen DVD to watch on the way home. It was a great distraction for anxious passengers and the tired young uns. When we arrived back, Glenda helped people clean off the 3+ inches of snow mounded on their vehicles. Cindy waited in the coach with passengers while their cars warned up. WOW....these ladies were impressive!!! If I could give 10 stars I would!!!

After coming back from Hermann, MO and doing their wine trolley, I was dying to see if St. Louis…read morehad something similar. Luckily, they do! This place runs Saturdays (11-7) and Sundays (Noon-5). I tried it out for the first time last fall and found the overall experience great. They pick you up from the SW commuter lot near highway 40 in a shuttle bus (think senior citizen trip shuttle bus). They then take you to just about any winery you want in the area (the exception being Montelle because Montelle will no longer allow buses near their premises). I found it extremely affordable, especially after seeing what other places in the United States charge. It was only $20, which can't be beat unless you travel out to Hermann. The shuttle buses were clean and the driver was super friendly and accommodating. This is definitely the way you want to travel when visiting the Augusta wineries. My only complaint would be that one of their buses was broken when we went, which made for some long wait times in between the wineries. Hopefully that is fixed now. Finally, I would recommend making a reservation online because they seem to fill up fast (even in the fall). This is definitely something I will do again this year.

    Jefferson City Amtrak - Amtrak

This is for the Jefferson City Amtrak Station. There is an actual inside. Many stops and stations…read moreyou go to mid trip there is nothing. Here you will find amtrak volunteers who run a small area with a trailer area similar to a temporary classroom many of us had in public school over the years. Heat in the winter, AC in the summer which brings some relief from the elements when waiting for a train. It is downtown JC so parking is not great so plan ahead but the volunteers have been providing parking passes for day trippers. Ask, don't assume. They are limited. There are vending machines. The volunteers will provide updates as they are in communication with the trains. The River Runner was recently upgraded so the experience is nicer than before. Try to be 30 minutes early to plan for parking changes. Also drop off is a little tight. Onboarding/offboarding is fast and furious so listen and be ready to brab your bags and climb aboard quickly as the train is trying to roll as soon as the platform is clear.

This review concerns the Jefferson City Amtrak station, not the train service…read more The station, or stop, is in a dirty little area of town. It looks as if there is no maintenance to the area. Weeds have sprouted through the cracked and broken walkway. Cigarettes butts and trash are scattered around the ground. There is a waiting area/building that looks rather depressive. It looks like a pre-fab building that was just thrown up. The door was locked so I have no idea about the inside of the building. Because the doors are locked, there is no restroom available. You would think that the city would want the area to look inviting for potential visitors. But im guessing they don't care.
